[Q] HTC Desire BCM CM9 mod headphone detection problem - General Questions and Answers

Hi Everyone,
I feel happy to come here; this is truly a good place to learn different android tweaks and development.
I had a very specific question about my HTC Desire. I am testing the BCM CM9 mod from the Desire sub-forum, and it said the headset should work.
However, after I flashed the rom, everything works (m2sd, apps restore) except this annoying headphone detection issue.
My Desire seems cannot detect the headset after I plugged in; no headset icon shows up in the notification, test playing music still go through speakers.
Does anybody experience this issue? I should have post this under the CBM CM9 mod thread but the 10 posts limit limits me to do that...
Anyone has the similar problem? and How can we test in Android terminal to see if the headset is detected by kernel? Thanks!

[Q] google navigation volume/hidden audio tuning menu

I cant find any info on successfully accessing the audio hidden menu.
I have a problem that when I use a 3rd party music player and google navigation at the same time (i play the sound through the car stereo) then the volume of the navigation directions is reduced to almost zero when a headset/lead to car stereo is plugged into the headphone socket.
I've had a really goof look around and the fix mentioned in post 8 here looks to be the most educated and likely fix that I cant try as I cant find out how to access the hidden menu which leads to the audio tuning menu mentioned.
Any advice or direction would be greatly appreciated

Bump.
I'm having this problem too. The only way I know that I'm coming up to a turn is that the music goes quiet for a few seconds.
This problem seems well documented across most phone platforms but fixes are few and far between, with most either waiting for an android or navigation update to fix the problem.
From my testing it shows that the problem only occurs when the 3.5mm head phone jack is being used so it seems sensible to try and access the volume control to control how the phone outputs audio to the jack for different apps.
Trouble is I cant - does anyone know how to access these hidden menus or perhaps just edit a config file or suchlike with the phone?
Thanks

This problem also occurs over bluetooth audio. I've tested it on the BT Audio in my car and my Jaybird bluetooth headphones.

hi guys, just wanted to share, i had been quite bothered with bugs like these... and have been searching the web for a long time... i found a solution apparently (cant remember the site name... but some official google guys replied or something) said that u need to check ur phone tts (text to speech) settings to make sure google tts is selected
apparently, if u are using things like v-lingo or samsung powerewd by v-lingo, it becomes soft... i tested this out... was very very surprised.. apparently it got way louder.
before this i tried a volume booster which did nothing but waste space on my phone. oddly ppl swear by those apps, all i could do was swear at it...
anyway.. enough rambling... hope this fixes ur issues

[Req] Call audio routing fix

I just got the charge today, and one issue is killing me. I drive about 6 hours per day. My android phone is connected to my stereo via the 3.5mm headphone jack. I use this to listen to music. On every other android phone i've had(beside the epic 4g), when i get a call, the music pauses, and when i press the button on my bluetooth, it answers the call, and my audio going out is picked up by the bluetooth, and the call audio coming in is heard through the bluetooth.
This phone for some reason tries to route audio through the 3.5 jack, even though the bluetooth answered the phone. worse yet, i can't find a way to switch it.
On the epic 4g this guy made an apk to hot fix the issue. Could someone port this by chance?

THanks!
I had sold my charge a while back, but just eneded up buying one again. Anyone made progress on this issue? Thanks!
Hey - it seems the fix near the end of that thread you referenced does the trick. Flash this in cwm recovery. It should work on any FP1 or EP4D (haven't checked others) ROM - stock or custom - but as I have no bluetooth stuffs I haven't tested this thoroughly to see if anything else happens as a result of the minor change. Hope this helps folks!

[Q] Sound system crashes when earphones are unplugged

Hi everybody,
I am using ICS 4.0.4 IceCreamTosti AOPK28_29 with a Dorimanx kernel. When I make (SIP) phonecalls with my earphones and unplug them during the call, the sound system seems to crash. I won't get any sound in any applications, not with the earphones nor the speakers, until I reboot the phone (HTC HD2)
I have no idea if this is version related (I tried 4.0.3 and 4.0.4), kernel related (I tried AOPK standard kernel, Dorimanx kernel) or application related (CSipSimple).
It is possible to unplug the earphones while the YouTube app is running without problems. However, the video will stop playing and I have to hit the play button again. So maybe apps lose some sound descriptors or whatever, when unplugged?
I cannot pose the question in the ICT AOPK thread as I have a new account here.
Maybe someone can help here.
Thanks
This sounds like something to do with your phone . You might want to contact the developer of the rom about it and it might be a bug . I think it's your phone issue or either the ROM issue .

[Q] no stereo audio output after rom install...

So i recently rooted my HTC EVO 4G with AlterROM Redux (Codename: CHIMERA) and unfortunatly, i cant remember the settings i used to install the rom. My problem lies with the audio output from the 3.5mm headphone jack. ive found that the audio is mono and outputs on the right channel only. ive tested it with three different stereo systems and both my earbuds and stereo handsfree set. i had stereo audio before the root/ROM and now i dont.
i use my phone for testing home and commercial audio systems and I NEED this feature to work. is there anything i can change on the phone setting wise or maybe an update that addresses this issue? the rest of the rom seems great. i like the user interface and the program options that i installed but this may be a deal breaker for me if i cant get it fixed.
I'll be honest if you use your device for work and need everything to work then I would not run custom roms that can have such problems. I would read threw the rooms thread for anyone else having the issue and post in your devices forum.

[Q] HyperDrive RLS15 Help Please!

Hello everyone!
I have been on XDA for a while just never made an account, if you are reading this Thank-you for reading.
Recently I switched from CM10.2 to the newest HyperDrive.
I like it for somethings over others. What are you opinion on the best ROM for SGHi747?
(back to the question)
Since the install I have noticed a few things I need info on.
Bluetooth calling will not work right when headphone jack has an AUX cable in at the same time. For example hands free in a car and your phone was plugged in for music there is nothing on my end until I unplug it then the call is back over the car stereo. It is as if the ROM may need a fix for this? I can not find any setting for this; nor had this issue on any other ROM.
S4 theme (from what I read) is not avaliable on this version?
Is there anyway to remove the MegaBass that I installed during flash; without re-flashing?
Is it just me, or does my phone not make any sound when battery is low???
Anything I am missing?
Sorry for the list but I just can not seem to find it as easy to maintain or customize like Cyanogenmod. Any answers would be great, hopefully it is not too much and someone has had these issues and resolved them.
Thanks again!

Update: this isn't a Bluetooth issue. When you have an aux cable plugged in speaker phone will not work either. Is there a fix for this...? I could make a tasker profile but it seems silly to have to do that when the OS should handle it.
