RockPlayer - Finally a player that really plays DIVX on Android?

This blog reports that there is a new player floating around that can play DIVX and XVID on our devices, and it does it very well.
It is not clear who created it but i could not find it on the market.
Mods if this post is considered improper please close and delete.

It is under hard development and will be published soon. There is a small group beta testing, and a group for user experience sharing at groups.google.com.hk/group/rockplayer
Mod. edit: As stated this is a beta, the developer didn't consent it's distribution. Pls wait for the official release. Don't distribute it.
sry to bring up resurrect this thread, but... when they were announcing Galaxy S on CTIA, that phone's video player looks EXACTLY same as RockPlayer. Conclusion: RockPlayer is a video player ripped from Galaxy S? if that's true... the app is nothing but a video player port and it's not exactly "warez" as we labeled it.

not quite the same but close i guess. and how do you know they didn't steal it from him?
App works perfect.
lol, that we will never know... tho looking that the player is fully functional there and it's still in beta here, i'm leaning toward the samsung gang being the originals
No. RockPlayer have no relation with samsung's built-in player. It just imitated icons and this looks like a bad decision. So the next public beta will change them.
No need to change it, unless you're worrying about samsung going after you. I like that skin, clean and simple, looks nice tho I still have to see a need for that right-most icon by the controls. Previously it toggled onscreen debug info, but now its just taking up space.
omg, thanks for the heads up.. this thing works flawlessly.. love it
Honestly i wanted to say, despite if it came from the Galaxy...who cares as long that ***** work on the phone w/o a trial i absolutely love it and its very useful...
Once it his the market I'll be buying it.
plays great
i like my animes play fine, all my movies its great
I NEED this app!!!!
Love this app. Works great!
Its really cool and works very week but conflicts with my rom and makes the camera not work
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
hmmm, that would be weird, which makes me suspect that it's your ROM that breaks the camera, not rockplayer.
Camera worked fine before install then installed camera stopped working then uninstalled and voila camera worked I'm gonna try it again to double check then I will flash a new rom instead consider I really like this player just tested my rom conflicts with it well time for a new rom bummer
Fixed!

[Q] CM7 video playback

I've got an Infuse 4g with the "compiled CM7" ROM... I'm getting slow video playback.
The test material I'm using is a TV show, transcoded using handbrake on the iPhone 4 preset, modified for 800px screen width.
Plays smoothly on computer and on phone using MX video player on software decoding setting. Does not play smoothly in the included video player or in MX with HW decoding setting.
Is there anything I should try to fix this, or should I pick a different ROM?
I've now briefly tried both numas and zeus and have decided that I definitely want an AOSP ROM... I think. So I need to get video playback and recording working well if possible.
Maybe someone could point me towards a couple ROMs... I'll try all of them if I have to but I'd rather be able to settle down with something I like now. Here's what I want:
- Minimalism. The default android stuff is hopefully default for a reason, and that reason is that it is more stable and does what it needs with minimal consumption of resources. Basically the opposite of numas, from what I saw in the few minutes I spent on it. No offense to the dev, of course, but it's just not me. So basically, CM7 or something like it.
- No touchwiz. Me no likey. At all.
- Gingerbread, of course
- Everything should work.
These requirements are ideally fulfilled by the CM7 rom with properly working video, but for now HW playback and capture are both giving me problems.

Alright... You want gb with everything working... Lol. Go by an HTC..... YOU need to learn how to USE android. Because you can make Zeus and Numas as minimalistic or not as you want. You just have to learn. Noob.
Continuing from other thread.. Don't make battery observations of guesses til you have used it. They all take a lot of energy. A lot of it die to the screen. Never had a problem streaming any videos with default of MX
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using Tapatalk
On the playback side, I'm trying to play the video on numas and it doesn't play at all. Says it can't play it. So it must be in a bad format.
So, I'm going to switch back to CM7... Still think it has video recording problems.
try dice player. its the best. if it doesn't work try a different encoding. the infuse has a better gpu than the i4 (both from imagination texhnologies) on a similar CPU (its made by Samsung) and the 4s has a better gpu and cpu but the gpu is also from imagination technologies. the i4 settings should have no trouble on the infuse unless the iPhone has better drivers or kernel design but who knows. you might have to play with the encoding.

Hmmm if you want also to watch youtube you need profeasional version but for me it is enough without youtube. I was amazed that it can show full hd video without laggs even if i surf the net and etc. Tried also stickup but didnt like it, laggy, not free
Agreed, the app is just fine as it is. It works super smooth on Note as well as my Asus transformer tablet. Might buy the app if price is reasonable to support the developer, very professional quality app.
Thanks man, downloading now to give it a try.

question: just tried this with big bunny 1080p and am unable to change audio channel. the default on that file seems to be no audio. had the same issue when playing it with mxplayer, had to select audio channel manually but i cant find out to do that in this app?

hmmm, seems that we need to wait for more available formats, as i can see this app not so long time ago apeared, so we need to wait
but i have tried .avi and for me it works. Maybe try to install mx video player and it will install codecs in your phone or you have custom rom, because im using lpy stock
ive had a good play with the free version and there are a couple of minor issues.
cant select multiple audio tracks 720p/1080p mkv
with subtitle checked still doesnt show subs 1080p mkv
crashes too
but apart from that this app is fecking awesome. i think it has single handedly restored my faith in android. i was browsing imdb while watching hd tv shows with no lag what so ever

[Q] What Video Player is Your Favorite?

Self-explanatory: Just looking for a great video player for the HOX. It's strange how a file will play beautifully using VLC on my desktop PC but totally blow on here (strange audio, etc.). Most files play fine but I'm just looking for THE definite player(s).
Thanks!
*Update* After searching around for a bit, I did find an unofficial compilation of VLC for Android and it works beautifully with the S4 CPU we have. It looks like the XDA forum direct link to the APK has been taken down but here is the forum: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1517415
If you do some basic searching on google, you should be able to find it...it works GREAT!
I loved MXplayer on my atrix and i use it still on my transformer. I have used it a few times on my HOX and it works great

[APP][2.1+][OpenSource]Sound Recorder (MP3, OGG)

Hello everyone!
My name is Hootan. I work on XDA in my free time.
I've developed MIUI Sound recorder from github to record in high quality formats (mp3 and ogg).
It supports Android 2.1+ (SDK 7)
I hope you enjoy it.
Credits
The credits belong to @HootanParsa and MIUI company.
I've made a new package name "com.android.misoundrecorder" and title 'Mi Sound Recorder' for this app.
Sharing:
All of the developers have free license to add this app in their custom ROM as default.
From my side everyone has permission to modify the sources and create his/her own app (with different name and package name of course).
The sources are attached to this post.

Working perfect on moto bravo with cm7.
I was looking for a thread for MIUI MUSIC PLAYER, I just found that someone upload the apk file and nothing else.
I would like you please if you can, you do your magic with it, add some new features, add more languages, the miui music player I found is even a very old version.
I think maybe wont need to work a lot on it, just make it perfect with the same touch you used for miui file manager, which is far away the best file explorer.
Great!
Nice UI!
Application working well!
All funtions working well!
But its lagging very much on my Galaxy Pro!
And also application is portrait not landscape!!

Well, I've used a themed music player and my suggestions is:
Many players don't have built-in Last.fm support, I think it would be nice to add that.
Built-in equalizer, not like the one on CM7 that is a separeted app, more like stock Galaxy Ace player, were the options are built-in inside music settings.
Tag editor. Please do this.
Aaand... lyrics support. I loved it on my old Nokia 5230 phone, I would love it on my Ace.
Thats what I can suggest.
I've uploaded your sound recorder to my phone now, will test it now.
Edit:
Very nice! It lags a lot on UI, lagged a bit less without high-quality audio, but even if it is laggy it still records nice.
Sound quality is awesome even without hi-q audio, and I want to help on translation to pt-BR My classes are going to end tomorrow so I'll have a lot of time.
Thanks a lot!

Exactly, you know what I mean, just like apooonet did with file manager, change the face of that music player.
He can also add some plugins or something like shoutcast radio stations, to have some radio online radio
Add the feature too to select various songs and sending them via bluetooth or uploading them somewhere.
good

there is no High Quality option in the second build
If you mean the best quality item in the quality list; it's just for fun, most of the phones can not use that
I really like this options on my moto defy:
- bitrate >> 160
- sample rate >> 48000
- quality >> near best
- preset >> extreme
don't forget to share the link of this thread
thanks for your post
