Here is something easy everyone can do to make XDA run faster and better. No, it is not donating to XDA, or buying the XDA premium app, although I highly recommend those things if you have a little extra money. Nor is it complaining to the admins, satisfying as that might feel sometimes, it doesn't really help.
Please clean up your old attachments. Simple. Easy. I had accumulated quite a bit more than I realized, and I was quickly able to remove over 50% of the stuff that was taking up 90% of the space.
So please, everyone who reads this, take a few minutes and do your best to clear out anything old that is no longer needed, or move things that could be hosted off of the XDA servers. Pictures from old posts, mods for old versions of software or roms, cumulatively they add up to a lot of files for the XDA servers to store.
Be a part of the solution and feel the speed increase. Hopefully this can also have a positive impact on reducing some of the recent downtime we have seen.
Thank you!
One other quick thing, if you have ever started a thread which is no longer needed or you do not plan to update, please notify one of the mods for that forum and ask for them to delete it. Thanks for helping!

This isn't going to end well, so lets nip it in the bud now. As is probably on all the forums there is no most/best/awesomemest etc. Its all subjective on what a person likes or dislikes does or doesn't do. I can say black ice, but the next person says AR, then the next says something else until you essentially have all the roms listed from the Dev section.

You don't even have to read a lot of posts, you read maybe one or two pages at the most and you'll find out, for instance absolution(the only Rom I use on my inspire) is extremely stable for me and is perfect for my needs but it may not be the same for you it may not work for you, you may prefer sense, so really its all personal preference. Threads like these get closed all the time because they're unnecessary since most of the roms in this forumare plenty stable except the ones that say they are betas and have things that don't work. There is that a good enough answer for you? Because that's exactly what that picture says. A picture is worth a thousand words.

I guess maybe you guys have more going on here with your roms then the epic touch community has atm.. there are probably 3 or four roms that ppl would agree on being the more stable and bug free roms....that may not be the case here, but like I said im out on vacation and was just hoping for a way to find something to fix my nieces phone before I head out home tomorrow. Either way I looks I'll just have do some searching of my own when I get back from the beach....best regards and sorry for being that guy to post a subjective question

While you're absolutely correct in posting this thread in the correct forum, literally everything you have asked for has been covered in numerous threads before. I'll apologize for everyone for why we get a little up front with threads like these since we see at least 2 every week. I'm glad this isn't new to you, but before you get angry please look at the rules you agreed to when you signed up for XDA. This is a dev. site first and foremost and some leg work is expected on your part. Searching is something you agreed to do before posting a new thread and if you did so you would have found every answer you needed.

I know there is already a multitasking issue thread but I wanted to point out that even though HTC has said that the phone works as designed, I tend to disagree. One of the main issues I'm having is when using app like Google listen which I had used on my gnex before and I could go around using other application while it ran in the background. On the One X I cannot listen to podcast or pandora in the background while do other things on my phone. This is a huge letdown and HTC needs to address the issue by adjusting the memory settings because it interferes with normal usage of the phone.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
I just went for a 2 hour bike ride. I had pandora and endomondo running without any problems. Even when I stopped for the occasional text, pandora kept running. I also listened to Pandora while using navigation yesterday and it worked fine.
Yea that works fine but if you do more than one app other than pandora it will stop abruptly. Like I just used the browser while running pandora, then went to pulse really quick and as soon as I went to gtalk pandora shut off.

Yes OP, we know. This exact issue has been whined about ad nauseum in the other "*****ing about multitasking" thread.
I swear to god there should be a 500 post minimum before people are allowed to create threads. All these *****ing and moaning threads are being posted by people with sub-200 post counts. This is XDA, we are here to help solve problems, not sit and cry about them.
I've been trying really hard not to flame all these noobs and whiners here but it's getting awfully difficult.

The same thing is going on in the international forum discussing battery life. The battery life threads are long and people don't want to spend time looking through them so start a new thread. Usually with "I know there's another thread open, but my situation is bigger/different/more important so I've started a new one." Their issue isn't, the forum gets clogged, and it gets tedious.
More discussions the better. More noise means more chance of HTC fixing this sooner than later considering they claim it is working as designed. My Inspire single core does a better job at multitasking. Obviously this needs to be addressed. Now we need to make HTC realize this.

I went for a 4-hour drive with Google Listen in the background and Google Nav in the fore ground. No problem what so ever. Also note that Google Listen actually randomly get closed a lot in the background when I was using Captivate and Galaxy S2. So this is not a good example for testing multi-tasking works or not.
I have no problem with Pandora either.
The root of the problem is not what you think it is. It's not because HTC intentionally broke multi-task but rather low on memory. My SGS2 has roughly 100 to 200 MB more free memory than HOX.

They aren't "claiming," that implies there's some sort of debate or discussion to be had. They've "stated." And the noise people are making within the confines of XDA means absolutely nothing to HTC. If it's important, do something constructive and start some sort of petition campaign or social media posting effort. Complaining to others that are complaining isn't going to change anything.

Yep, all it's doing is cluttering the forums making it increasingly difficult for people who are actually looking for assistance to find the help they need. XDA is not the place for *****ing and moaning.

Where did all the communists come from? You don't like it, don't read it. It's called "freedom". If you don't want to complain and are satisfied with manufacturers mistakes, just get an iDrone.
Why censor someone just because you don't agree, if it was factually wrong, then fine. This is a user complaint. If anything you are cluttering this up.
If multitasking has taken a turn in the wrong direction and is performing worse than previous phones, then you should complain until its fixed. Not everyone is rich and can just buy a new phone everyother month. For many of us it needs to last for a while and don't want to get stuck with a poor product. Isn't that the exact point of xda?
PS Your posts are doing exactly what you are complaining about, they are off topic, and clutter up the forums. Let the mods be mods.
Sent from my Inspire 4G using XDA
The biggest thing that bothered my about the multitasking with the One X was the fact that sometimes it will kill it's own launcher for memory.
For example if I'm browsing flipboard for 5 minutes and hit the home button, it almost always needs to completely reload the launcher which causes a 5 second delay. I'm also used to switching into another app and not having it reload.
So yes, I'm disappointed with that. But the phone itself is still great.

I think everyone in here hopes for better multitasking. The point of the "communists" here like myself is this should have been posted in the multitasking thread to begin with.
If you don't like our posts then why don't you take your own advice and not read them. It's called "freedom" right? Doesn't matter about the clutter in here as I'm sure this redundant thread will be closed soon.

Last time I checked, this place was called xda developers, not xda *****ers and moaners.
I've tried a bit of searching and while there are a few threads about how to disable phone features, there is no discussion of anyone making a specific ROM that would that would focus the Captivate (or any Galaxy S I suppose) into a Media Player device. No idea how hard that would be and whether it would be as easy as taking an existing ROM and just rearranging and deleting the phone stuff.
Seems that with ICS being designed to work as both a Tablet and Phone OS, you could accomplish this with relative ease. I'm not a coder or ROM developer though, so I could be completely wrong on that too.
At the very least, the battery life would almost certainly increase if the phone never even tried to use the antenna or look for cell service. Seems like it might run smoother too and processing emphasis could be rearranged.
Any thoughts?

Use the god dam Sebastian Thread for asking questions about his kernel, it's what its there for, or even just read and you will get your answer.
It's time to do a Stats check to see if you are spamming with pointless threads...
Hi, It's really best to try these kernels out for your self and see what performance or battery life you get out of them. Every user is different with lots of different variables like different roms, over or under clocking, heavy users, light users, different mods and tweaks, even different batteries ! So what is working for some may not be what's best for you. Therefore It's always best because of the many variables some I mentioned above, to try things out on your own. You will get a much better answer that way instead of asking others about their experience. Just like with roms, what works for one might not work for another. We are all individuals with our own likes and dislikes and different tastes so please remember It's always best to form your own opinion on these kinds of things. I truly hope this helps, also the fun part is discovering new things for yourself. So in the future just give things a try and form your own opinions. I wish you the best! Just trying to help you out .

Depending on what you are doing, the phone can get very hot. Its due to a bad motherboard design with no means of heat dispersion. 3 dimensional games and browsing flash heavy websites will make it warm. Some intense games like RealRacing2 can heat it up so much it will burn your thumb on the screen.
Download System Tuner by 3c and go to the CPU section. There will be a graph and a figure of the CPUs temperature. This is handy if you have an aftermarket battery that doesn't have a temperature sensor like Anker. Anything up to 62'c is safe but if it stays there long the screen will heat up and burn your thumb tip if you hold them near the bottom due to playing a game.
Hope I helped!
Thanks man. I do have an aftermarket battery.
