Camera doesn't save pictures! - T-Mobile LG G2x

For some reason, my camera does not save pictures! it just takes the picture and it is not saved in the gallery.
Also, my wifi calling mysteriously stopped working.
I am running the latest phoenix rom..
I have tried the fix permissions thing, and that didn't work either. Any recommendations besides ref lashing?
PS The phone still allows me to send picture messages, just not take any and save them

Any ideas..?

Try a different camera app

Most likely, it is just sending your pics to a different location.
Check the settings.

Hmm what kind of camera app? I tried both setting it to save to internal and external but it does not work

Get your cell phone flashed, if any software issue, it would be resolved... cheers!!!

Maybe you have a setting that makes it so you explicitly tell it you want it saved. I know some camera apps have that setting. If it doesn't show up in gallery try plugging in your phone to a computer to look for some jpg files or use an android file explorer.

Don't forget that you need to be rooted AND HAVE GINGERBREAD for that
New updated APK has front facing camera support! I'll check it out

'Worked' as far as I can see, without having anyone to test it with. I get the option to enable voice and video calls when changing my status, and 'voice call' appears as an option when talking to a contact.
can it use for 2.3.3?

Great The only thing I still have to try if video is sent from one Android-Talk App to another... It doesn't work for the desktop at the moment and it doesn't work for the front camera... that's probably why Google just rolled it out for the Nexus S... I hope they'll fix that soon!

I know i appologize for the short rude, it didnt work, statement.
I placed said lib in correct-is it replacing something or just drop it in?
Backed up old g app and moved at to external sd, then cleared data.
Uninstalled old app, and installed new app.
Nothing seemed to change for me, no voice or video options. Video option greyed out.

Works on OC 2.0RC1. Front cam and voice, but FC's everytime I switch front to back cam...anyone else experiencing this...
Anyone have any idea why I can't get write permission on the system folders? I'm using file expert with superuser access, but for some reason it just won't let me change access permissions on the system folders.
*update* nevermind. Installed root explorer and it worked much better.

Gallery not showing pictures

Hey all, ever since I upgraded to the first ics leak yesterday, my gallery won't show any existing pictures. I can take pictures and they'll show up, but when I restart my phone they won't show. They'll still all save on the same path on my sd card, but nothing shows up in the gallery. This is really annoying, can someone please help?

Did you restore any data or have any data from GB carried over to ICS? That could be it or corrupt data on the /sdcard itself. Try QuickPic from Google Play Store, works great as a work around...

Are you on the first leak? This is a known bug with the first leak... the android media server doesn't detect the sdcard half the time after being remounted, such as when you connect you phone to your computer.
I believe the second leak takes care of this...
Apex, I restored titanium backups, but only restored texts, call log, contacts and wifi points under system. Didn't touch gallery or anything.
And farshad, it recognizes the sd card just fine, it just doesn't show me the pictures in the gallery app. I can open any file browser and navigate to it just fine.

I believe Farshad pointed out the problem. (Good call, by the way Farshad) If it's a known "bug" with the 1st leak, you might want to get yourself on the 2nd, if it's that significant...

If that's the case I'll just use quick pic until there's a way to fxz back from any other leak

Cannot capture pictures/videos

For some reason starting a few days ago my camera just does NOT work. It won't save any pictures, front or back camera. Videos do not work at all either. It says it took a picture, but viewing it from a computer or via Gallery shows a corrupted 1mbish file. I even restored back to the stock rom and while it did fix the BACK CAMERA PICTURE taking, the front camera and the Video taking causes the app to just close on me. I have a catlog of what happens when a video is attempted to be recorded. I have NO idea what the heck is wrong. I restored my whole phone to the original ROM and back, and I even formatted the SD card various times. I tried another SD card and I had the same results. Is my phone broken? Why does it work with custom apps and Skyping (etc) even work.

Have you tired a diffident camera application out of curiosity? Perhaps it will help. If it's not the SD card maybe it's the camera application. If a new application doesn't work then the camera mechanism itself is likely broken somehow. But do try another camera application. You can flash one from here or get one from play store. It is a experiment to see if the camera mechanism itself is broken. Hopefully the new camera app will work. I wish you the best. Hope this helps you out.

Yeah, depending on the app it will take pictures. The stock has always worked for me.. why is it broken now?

[Q] Video received via text shows as slideshow

A friend of mine sent me a video via text message but it opens up as a slideshow. There's no sound and the image doesn't change, it's just a picture. I've tried opening it in several different messaging apps with the same result. Any suggestions on how to view it as a video?
is it specifically that clip? try viewing another video clip and if it somehow plays as a slideshow, cant help you.
you could be recieving poor fps maybe.

I haven't received any other videos via text message to try out. But I can play videos from my gallery that I've personally recorded.
Morning agtonil
I have the same problem, and sometimes it doesn't even show up as a slideshow. I'm on CM10.1 and what I do is holding down the video or the message it came in so that I get a prompt to download it, and it then shows up in Gallery. You could try that, perhaps?
It's obviously not the best way to view videos, but at least it's a way.

When I download to gallery it still doesn't come up as a video, it's still in slideshow format so it's just a still photo.
My pic texts show up as a clip too. I've just gotten used to it. But it's a pain at times because it takes what seems like forever.

No he sent a video but when I go to try to view the video it tells me to "view slideshow". And when I open it like that, it's just a picture. I want to view the actual streaming video.
I understand. There's something off about mms and sms messages. Not sure if it's the aosp or the custom roms.

Do you think if I tried to open it on my computer by using Airdroid that it would play as a video?
Not really sure, no reason not to try. I don't have a solution either. Maybe someone out there will.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
Well I think I solved it in case anyone else is looking for this answer. I downloaded GoSMS and went into the MMS settings and increased the maximum MMS size and then had my friend resend the video. It now plays as a video, not slideshow.

[Q] 'Gallery' not working correctly on i9000

I have searched the best I can in the forum for this issue and found Gallery related issues but not like my issue on the Samsung.
Considering I am inept at technology and really have little skills in this area, I managed to flash SuperNexus on my old Samsung GT-I9000 and I am amazed that i was able to get it to work. I am very impressed and thankful for this ROM.
Info:
Baseband: I9000XXJVT
Kernel: 3.0.89-gb1c64eb
SuperNexus 3.0 smtd build 1
Build: JSS15J
SO FAR, I have only one issue that I cannot seem to resolve.
The Gallery is showing all of my pictures whether on the SD Card or the Phone and thumbnailing them as videos (without any actual thumbnail image because the video is presumable corrupt since it is actually a .jpg). Selecting any of these, of course, generates an error: "Can't play this video.'
The only image that has a thumbnail is in the Camera folder and was a picture I took with the camera. The other pictures in that folder are also thumbnailed as unplayable videos even though they were taken with the device when it was Gingerbread.
I have deleted the .thumbnails folder, renamed the directories, moved the folders around (varies suggestions I found while searching) to no avail. The images are valid - I can go into File Manager and they are listed in there, viewable and have thumbnails.
Rebooting doesn't change anything and the camera image that DOES work is STILL valid.
** I apologize if I missed a solution to this, although I did search.
I appreciate your help.

This is a nice app - I can live with this and be happy.
Although, there is one issue and from what I can tell it is NOT a QuickPic issue. In SMS(MMS) when sending a text message and using the attachment option, QuickPic appears as a choice to choose from just like Gallery - which is good, is what I expect. However, I mainly use WhatsApp for messaging. Its attachment option does not list QuickPic - only Gallery, Take photo, Video, Audio, Location, Contact. This seems like a WhatsApp issue and I hope they don't have those options hard coded. If anyone has any ideas, that would be great.
But all that said, this is a step forward for me and helps a lot - thanks!
