IP address changer

Hi,
exist some HOMEBREW app which can let me change the IP address ?
Somebody told me that it exist.

Well, you can easily specify your own IP address for WiFi networks. That's built into the phone.
For the cellular network... I'm not aware of a way, though it probably does exist. I'm not sure anybody has coded it as a WP7 app, though.
Why do you need to do this? Your IP address quite probably changes every time you reboot your phone; why do you need it to be a constant value?

For me this threat is also interested. And why would be practice to be able to put static IP address is simple, what to do when you want to connect in WIFI environment where is no DHCP.
Or let say ISP, give you STB with WLAN on which is not enabled DHCP.

As I said, specifying your own IP address is easy on WiFi (specifically for networks without DHCP). Open the WiFi settings page, press-and-hold on a network, and select Edit. If you connect to a network that doesn't have DHCP, it should prompt you for the settings when you first connect.

My friend, this what you are wrote is written in user manual which I am get with my optimus 7. There is also written that is procedure for connecting on hidden network is press-and-hold on any wlan net and change the name according with hidden net and I could not reach hidden net until I am receive latest fw(few days ago) and I have optimus 7 almost nine month.
In any case, what you are wrote not applies for optimus 7, maybe for some other phone apply, but not for optimus 7, at least with OPN Firmware.

Ah... I don't have an LG phone, so if there's some weird quirk to their WiFi drivers, I can't help you with that. Sorry. :-(

JosipoGo, have you connected your phone to Zune and done updates that way? Go to Settings=> about phone and tell us what version of OS you have.
I am thinking you may be running NoDo on your phone, as anything with Mango or above should have the ability to change IP address. Yes, your shipping firmware (if it is NoDo version) may not have this feature, and it wouldn't be on your phones manual if that is the case.
If you have never done system updates, you should be able to add this feature by preforming the Zune update (if an update is available for your phone).

ICS STATIC IP- How to setup up your static ip.

I figure i would post this in the General section, as this might help others that may need help setting up their static ip .
Here are the steps to set up static ip for anyone needing to do this.
1. go to system settings
2. click on wifi
3. click on add network
4. enter your network ssid
5. choose your security
6. enter your password for you network
7. click save
ok here is where you have to let it find the network, let it connect and aquire an ip address (even thou it is not the correct one) let it do its thing. do not skip this step otherwise you will not be able to configure the ip or save it.
once it says it is connected go back and do steps 1-2
you will see your network and it should say connected.
long press on your network name. it will bring up 2 options.
1 forget network
2 modify network config.
click on modify network config
it will bring up a bunch of settings. scroll down till you see a box that says :" Show advanced options"
click on the box. ( do not save or cancel the window)
scroll down a little bit and you will see 2 boxes
1 proxy settings
2 ip settings <<< click on the lower right hand coner and change this from dchp to static.
once you do this you will see settings under that box input all your info into these boxes *****( leave 3rd box that says " network prefix length" at 24 )******* once you have completed click save and your phone should be connected to you static ip network..
1 ip address
2 gateway
3 network prefix length (Leave this at 24)
4 dns 1
5 dns 2
6 ******* CLICK SAVE ********* not cancel or you will have to repeat the process. LOL Dont ask how i know this 3 times.. LOL

I would recommend that anyone wanting to get a "static" ip address go into there router and tell there router to set the ip from the mac address. A little of work because it depends on how to do it from router to router but works well in dd-wrt.
You can find how to set static leases in dd-wrt under the "services" tab. This simply allows you to keep your phone a dhcp phone when abroad while keeping a specific ip while at home. In fact, I get the mac address of every device on my network and use this table to set my house statically without having to do anything on the device itself. Comes in handy to know what devices have what ip and therefore and easy way to keep on top of your network security.

I also do this. With 10 devices connected and 4 of them I need to know the static address for things to work properly. I can't imagine setting static on each device. Its like a 3 click process via my router regardless of what OS the device is running.

After many tries I've found that in order to save a static IP WIFI entry in a Samsung Galaxy S2 under Ice Cream Sandwich you need to fill ALL fields, even the "Network prefix length" field (whatever that is).
So, even though it shows "24", that field is actually empty. Just enter all your IPs plus 24 in that field and you're done.

or 255.255.255.0, which is the subnet for a Class C network and the default network in most home home routers that assign DHCP.
*However* - depending on how you like to manage your own home network, starting from your router, it doesn't necessarily have to be a /24 network. Yes it's more work, but it's not the only option.
(At least I think I'm right. Cisco courses were several semesters ago. ;p)

The "24" left untouched works fine on my SR on UCLE2. What "that is" is the bit length (measured by 8 bits per dot-delimited octet) of the network label portion of an IP address. Where 192.168.1.XXX IDs the network and the Xs are available for node IDs or endpoints. The first 3 octets there are a 24 bit prefix.

On SR and Cappy in ICS I have found that default entry holds when appropriate. What did you mean "Just enter all your IPs plus 24 in that field and you're done." ?

That will work equally. The 255s indicate the potential node IDs in octets 1-3 are blocked as part of the network ID and the 0 in the 4th octet opens all (255 potential node IDs for assignment) in this subnet mask.

On my friend's Xperia Active, that just got updated to ICS, I also tried to quickly input some fields under advanced menu to see if the WiFi would work.
Boy was I wrong!
I had to delete my old WiFi connection, then I had to follow these step-by-step instructions and I had to fill ALL fields in one stroke after pressing "Save". Only then the WiFi worked normally, else it wouldn't transmit data over the internet.

When i try and connect the save button is not pressable.

Same problem. It cannot connect to the wifi otherwise the wifi icon turns blue. Any solution?

Well if you followed the directions correctly then you should be able to connect. I have done it this way over and over everytime i change roms, and it works everytime.
Sounds like u are connected to a ghost ip address that says u are connected but not connected to the real ip address. If you have your router setup with a static ip address, then these directions will work. If you have it set to dhcp on your router than all you have to do is set your name, security,password and then the phone should do the rest.

Wifi Connection Problem

Hello All,
I am trying to connect to my work network with no luck! Prior to the one plus one I had a Nexus 5 that connected with no issues. This is what happens:
1. Choose connect (password is saved)
2.The text under the SSID goes from "connecting" back to "saved" in less than a second. The signal bars show 3 then drop to 1.
I've tried forgetting the network, flashing different ROM, kernel, modem with no luck.
Turned off "Avoid poor network connections" and "Wi-Fi optimization:
With the Wifi analyzer app the connection is steady around -60 to -50 dBm. If I try to connect using the wifi analyzer app it just stays on "Authenticating". I know the password is correct, I've re-entered it multiple times.
The wifi network is using the 2.5 ghz band, channel 1, and WPA authentication.
I haven't tried connecting with a static IP, however I might try this next.
Any ideas, this is driving me nuts! Plus all the iPhones around me get to brag!

I'm having the same problem, and it also seems to stumble connecting to data networks. I have been toggling airplane mode on/off and it then finds the wifi and data networks. This is annoying as hell, when it should auto find and lock any network it has remembered and passwords are correct.
Does anybody have a fix, or is there a radio that can be flashed to correct this?

I'd love to hear any resolutions to this issue as well... I posted this in the oneplus forums recently:
"I am having this problem too with my mom and dad's OPO . But what's funny is that it doesn't happen to my OPO. This sort of rules out any WiFi/router/network issues. Is it possible that certain installed apps on their phones may render the wifi to be unstable (e.g. permission settings for these apps?) Any help from the community is appreciated, thanks... this is an annoying problem for them as it drains out their LTE data!"

Trouble sigin in wifi network

I was able to sign my wifi network (wpa2-psk) but after login it will give me error.
Unable to connect to wifi network. Sign in procedure not supported.
Anyone know a way to fix it?

Just for testing, switch yout WLAN to WEP.

WEP doesn't work, my home router and office all got the same problem. But if i open AP hotspot from my phone it works...

Is your Network visible? Try what happens if it is visible. Another Test, try your WLAN open without Encryption.

Yes visible, tried open also won't work. Its weird only work if i AP from my phone. Other wifi network will let me pass thru authentication and i see the obtaining ip message and connected but after few sec it will give me the "Unable to connect to wifi network. Sign in procedure not supported".

Wifi Connection
Having the exact same problem. Anyone able to troubleshoot this matter

After the last update Gear S2 WiFi connection support passwords long not over 12 characters.
Before update I was connected to my WEP (13 HEX couples of characters, that is 26 characters). After update I cannot succeed in connecting any more.
I asked to Sumsung support and they suggest me to shorten the password...
Now I have shifted to WPA encryption with password long 8 characters and now the Gear S2 connects with no issues.

I too am having wifi connection problems. I have the Gear S2 AT&T model SM-R730A
I was getting the message sign-in procedure not supported and what I found was, since this device has no browser to input the login- username and password, you get that message.
Really Samsung? You stick a wifi radio in this thing but can't connect to most wifi's out there.
Went into my Samsung account and synced my wifi logins from my phone to gear S2 and now they are saved on the gear S2 and it logs in without the message (not supported).
Only problem is, it says it's connected to the wifi, but nothing works on that network from the gear. Still not logged in to the wifi network I believe. But then why does it say connected.
It works great on a wifi network that only requires a password, but as you know most hotels and other hot spots require username and password in a browser.
I do not have a sim card yet because if I can't get the wifi to connect and work, I'll probably sell it.
Anyone have an idea what to do next? That includes you SAMSUNG! And YES I called your service techs and they are pretty much clueless about the Gear S2.

You are mistaken.
You have to turn BT off to get wifi to actually turn on. If BT is on and connected, the watch will use PAN for networking, and not turn on the wifi radio.
Turn off BT. Shortly after, you can see APs listed in the wifi section of Connections that the watch is receiving. If you tap on one that is not already saved, it will prompt for a password that can be entered with the tiny keyboard.
If a saved AP won't connect, tap on it and hit the FORGET button. Then follow the above procedure.
Keep in mind that as long as BT is turned off, you will be connected "remotely", so notifications will be slower, and some functions are not available (controlling media on the phone from the watch, for example). Also, if you have a 3G version, outgoing calls will use the watch standalone number over 3G, not the phone.

Thank You for responding, but you must be missing something from my post.
Bluetooth connection to phone must be in standby mode, not actually turned off and then wifi will put it into remotely connected status. At this time you are able to connect to wifi networks that only require a password. I am able to do this much and it works fine.
It's when it needs to be authenticated (an open wifi with no lock shown but needs a username and password entered) as with most public wifi, and that's when it gives the sign in procedure not supported error even when synced wifi profiles from phone have been saved to gear s2.
I hope I'm missing something here but I've been working on this for awhile and nothing seems to work. Samsung techs are useless as we are on our own and I do appreciate any and all help.

no ravenjim, you are correct. I have the same issue at my job. We have an open wifi here at my job which allows all the employees to connect to using their phones or tablets and even personal laptops. However once connected you are taken to a AT&T welcome page with our company info and logo and are required to just hit connect. Once you click connect you can surf the internet with your personal devices.
So since the S2 does not have a browser I get the same error "sign in procedure not supported". Sucks but oh well

Does anyone experiencing low wifi signal on your gear s2 classic (wifi only)?? I did some test with my other samsung device in same position and get maybe 3 or 4 signal bar, but only 1 signal bar on my gear s2 sometimes no signal at all.
Is there any solution for this bug yet?

yes before the last update on my gear s2 classic SM-R732 everything was fine, now with the latest update R732XXU2CPC4 i can't get login to my wifi networks, and also the battery is easier to get drain, usually 1,5 days with several push notification, auto wake up gesture ON, moderate Heart Rate, brightness level on 7, watch faces using classic with black background + grande dial + date, but now i must charge the phone every 6-7 hours with the same setting, already factory reset the phone and still got the same situation. Is there another way to fix this rather than waiting the new updates? If possible i'll choose the previous firmware/software on my phone

I am having a similar problem with my WiFi connection, gear s2 was connecting fine to my home and work network for about a month now with no problems, suddenly today the same error msg posted here is appearing whenever i try to connect to my wifi at home, i did restart both phone and watch, also changed my wifi setting to visible and shortened my password, all with no luck, still getting same error msg...
Still got to try to reset the watch... Will that wipe out all my watch faces? Probably will... But if that doesn't fix it I won't be able to send my watch faces back from my PC, which is why i wanted to connect remotely in the first place, so i can install a new watch face...
Any suggestions?

Okay, how can we connect to public wifi at a library, mall, xfinity/comcast, starbucks, etc. where we are normally redirected to a browser to accept terms of service, or to sign on using account credentials before connecting to their wifi?

I requested that my work manually register my watch's mac address on the network, so it is saved as a device that has access. So you might want to reach out to your network team for a solution.

A question about using public WiFi. Is there any security risk to the watch in addition to the phone?

Question Wifi calling problem

Hi.
I get wifi calling working fine on my phone, but it just disappears and stops working after a few hours. Rebooting makes it work again.
Anyone else have this problem?

Are you sure it's failing and what do you mean 'stops working'?
Do you try to place a call and it fails because WiFi calling is broken?
Or are you just watching the carrier name change off of WiFi calling? Because your phone will move off of WiFi calling if the signal strength is low enough and the strength of the cellular signal is higher.
The preference switch just dictates which to favor first over the other, it doesn't lock you to WiFi calling only.
Try walking closer to an access point and checking if WiFi calling comes back, that's what it does for me I move from outside with a weak WiFi signal to inside with a strong signal.
If that's the case then you'll need more access points in your house.

Where I am right now there is no cellular (offshore). I can also recreate the problem if I turn flight mode on and off. After I do that I can't do wifi call (the icon/text is gone and calls and texts are not working anymore). Kinda weird behavior tbh. It might be the wifi, but it was stable on my last phone. I can wait till I get home and try that wifi, but it's only here at work I need it

Try disabling MAC address randomization for the access point you are on, it defaults to enabled. It can cause issues if the DHCP lease time is low and your phone gets on and off the network, making it show up as a new device each time.
If it still is having issues then it might just be the network, a grocery store near me has filters and when you get on their guest WiFi you can place a call for a couple seconds before it kills the connection.

Disabling the MAC address randomization did the trick. Been on and stable since I turned it off. Thanks again

A new problem have emerged in this same topic.
Using the same phone, same sim, same wifi, same settings (disabled mac address randomization) the wifi calling won't activate at all now. Any idea what I can do to trouble shoot? Wifi calling is turned on and set to preffered.
