Galaxy Tab Plus or Galaxy Tab 8.9? - Samsung Galaxy Tab Plus

Hey,
I was wondering if I should buy the Galaxy Tab Plus or the Galaxy Tab 8.9?
What do you guys think? Please explain why.
Cheers,
Mkalter

Take a good look yourself.
This is Tab 8.9
http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_tab_8_9_3g-3891.php
This is Tab 7 Plus
http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_p6200_galaxy_tab_7_0_plus-4208.php
Of special note:
Tab 8.9 (vs 7 Plus)
Weight: 453 g (instead of 345 g)
Screen resolution: 1280x800 (instead of 1024x600*)
Camera: Both are the same 3.15MP ****.
OS: Both run Honeycomb, only 7 Plus is .2 newer.
CPU: Dual core 1GHz Cortex A9 (instead of Exynos 4210)
GPU: Nvidia Tegra 2 (instead of the proven Mali 400MP)
Highlighted in red represents the smelliest pile of marketing crap on Earth. It made me regret the one Android tablet I bought (due to Android community's hype) that turned me off Android OS as a whole. If you want a smoother Android ride, I urge you to go with Mali, or at least find an Android with Adreno 225, or best of them all, PowerVR 543.

The other thing that the 8.9 lacks
The other key feature that the 8.9 lacks is a microSD slot. I ditched my SGT 10.1 quite quickly when I realised how constrained you are without an SD card slot. The 7 Plus has one and it supports 64GB microSDs, which if you are a road warrior like is a total godsend!

Exynos vs Tegra 2...which is best?

Hi there!
I'm currently in the hunt for an Android Honeycomb 3.1/3.2 tablet. and i'm choosing between Samsung's new Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus which has the Mali 400MP GPU and the Sony Tablet S' own Geforce by Nvidia Tegra 2. (both has a dual core processor although Samsung has a slight edge i think with the new Exynos 1.2GHz)
Based on the initial tech specs i've seen online the Samsung has a supposedly mind-altering 20 hours battery life while Sony has only 6 hours max. advertised.
I'm not a technical person but may i ask in your opinion is the better device's GPU in terms of better gaming, better graphics rendering, better battery life and better heat dissipation?
Thank you.
In the cpu department the exynos wins. In the GPU i'm not sure since it's a bit harder, but all i do know is that tegra 2 is unable to play high profile HD/1080p.
Am i correct in saying that Samsung made the Exynos processors and ARM the Mali-400MP? or are they the same now?
Did samsung made the iPhone 4/S' processor/GPU?
Would you consider the Mali-400MP better than Nvidia's Geforce Tegra 2 GPU? (in terms of the above i mentioned)
(i.e. Samsung Galaxy Tab 7 Plus vs Sony Tablet S)
They didn't/don't make the Mali, but they do put it together with the cortex a9's.
As I said, I'm not sure on the graphics part.
$1 gets you a reply
Does a processor speed or the graphics card determines a device's overall performance & responsiveness?
I'll be mainly surfing the net, watch Youtube videos, facebook, twitter, viewing .pdf or .doc files, odd photos & uploading them, listening to music, playing games, using DLNA to watch movies to my TV.
I wonder if a few bucks of investment on a faster processor is worth it. (e.g. Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus vs Galaxy Tab 7.7)
That and software efficiency. I am not sure about samsung tablets, but all I know is that the sgs 2 is the smoothest and possibly fastest android phone available. But personally samsung tablets are overpriced, you'd be better off with the new or old asus transformer.
$1 gets you a reply
I like more the tablet with Tegra 2
Tegra 2 is okay, but IMHO it's the software/drivers/OS that was released (Honeycomb) with Tegra that gave Tegra a bad wrap. Those two just don't work well together.
I played around with a 7.0 Plus awhile back and man those Exynos dual cores fly!
IMO Exynos is better at this current time, but doesn't have the gamer following like Tegra, and may never with Tegra 3 out now.
I prefer something that has a smaller than 10" screen like the Galaxy tab 7.0 Plus or the Galaxy Tab 7.7 because of the size and as i heard of the dual-core processors being that good.
I still don't know if there is any truth to the "rumour" that the Exynos-powered tablets (like the 7.0 Plus and 7.7) have 20 hours of standby battery life. is this true?
And can you gauge a tablet's battery life on the processor speed, RAM or the OS?
exynos is better as i,ve heard
Saw this video on Youtube comparing a Samsung Galaxy S2 (with the Tegra 2 chipset) and the LG Optimus 2X with an Exynos chipset.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JR4jzO3sN5U
and it looked like the LG with the Exynos one is smoother in running/rendering 3D.
am i correct?
+1 for exynos. Tegra 2 is awesome as well.

The problem with those new Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus and 7.7. are just that...they are new. sure there are reviews but there isn't much on the high-street to actually try it.
The one i fancy right now is the Sony Tablet S. seen the actual thing and it is really smooth and almost flawless. and it has Tegra 2. so surely even on a 1Ghz dual-core it must be good.

In the moment, NOTHING is faster.

As an owner of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7 Plus,
you should know, that in the moment,
of all android devices with a resolution between 1024 x 600 and 1920 x 1200,
nothing is faster at native resolution then the
Samsung Galaxy Tab 7 Plus (not even the Transformer Prime).
Enjoy your bragging rights...
When a Tegra 3 device with 1024 x 600 comes to the market, we will lose this leadership.

Nice to see that. My tab 7 plus is fastest device of all devices)
Great.
agreed.
posted this numerous other places.. 7+ w/3g and phone = best device in the world right now, OK so 7.7 is close.
this wont be for very long Im sure, with quad core and samoled qHD screens.
Still have to give props to anyone making a slim 7" tab/ phone.
Overall very satisfied as my all-in-one-device. Currently reading a java-for dummies- ebook

[Q] Should I buy this over the Huawei Mediapad?

Hi,
I'm a little bit torn between these two devices. One of the carriers from my country is offering the Mediapad at around $440 while the GTab2 goes for around $560.
Am looking for something small and portable. Mostly for browsing the internet, reading ebooks and pdfs. Am a college student so I also want to be able to edit word documents and simple excel sheets.
The mediapad and the Gtab2 have quite similar specs, save for the fact that the HMP has a morr premium feel and a higher screen resolution. However, I want to recieve future OS updates and am not quite sure whether Huawei will deliver them. Well, Samsung might not but by the looks of things, the GTAb2 has a larger developer base which i believe is willing to take things into its own hands!!
Am not much of a gaming person. Gigahertz and benchmark readings have never excited me that much. Am only looking for solid and consistent performance.
Hope anyone can help.
Thanks.
in my country Gtab2 7" only cost about $370 - $390 USD
the 10" inch is more expensive than the 7 inch
and the Gtab 7" plus is about $560.
So in term of hardware specs the Gtab2 7" is very different than Gtab 7" Plus.
the Huawei mediapad have better GPU Adreno 220, rather than Gtab2 (Powervr sgx540 GPU).
and the Gtab 7" Plus have Mali-400MP4 GPU
Mali-400MP4 > Adreno220 > PowerVR SGX540
but the "Huawei" brand is not convincing as Samsung, it's up to you to gamble on these 2 products
I suggest to buy Galaxy Tab 7 Plus ($550), but if you want to save money, you should buy Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 (only cost about $390)

Thanks for your suggestion. I'll go to the shop toorrow to give both a try bfore I make up my mind. If I may ask, are you happy with your Galaxy Tab 2? Sorry for all the questions, am a poor college kid and I cant afford to burn my fingers again as I did with my earlier purchase of the Blackberry Playbook.

Sure, I'm very happy with my new Galaxy tab 2 7.0 (Android 4.04 update, & force GPU rendering on settings > developer options).
browsing, email, reading e-newspaper has never been easier with 7" inch screen. Gtab2 7.0 is awesome, it's fast too!
it's more cheaper than other tablet, & with ram 1GB you can run ICS/JellyBean on it (device with only 512MB will struggle to run ICS/JB)
Btw, I'm new mobile game developer, and I choose Gtab2 without any doubt to develop my game on Gtab2.
If you wan't smoother experience when running google maps 3D, or twitter app, etc.. then you should go for Huawei mediapad (Adreno 220), because I've tried Adreno 220 on HTC Sensation and it's blazingly fast without any lags at all.
All I can say is Samsung Gtab2 build quality is perfect.
The only problem with Huawei is the brand itself & I'm not really sure about the build quality of their products.
Because I've seen cheap Huawei phones (about $20) but with poor build quality (the keypad button is hard to press).
While the cheapest Samsung phone (about $20-30, I get this for free when buying Gtab2 in my country) the keypad button is perfect, similar experiece when using Nokia phones with very good keypad
Please note that Gtab2 7.0 price is about $360-390 USD.
Don't get fooled by distributor, if they sell Gtab2 7.0 at $560, then you should go for Huawei

Best feature rich and all around best tablet on the market. Prior to the Galaxy Note 10.1 I felt tablets were limited overpriced consumption only devices and not worth buying.

l used most tablets and this is the best tablet to date.
Also i guess windows 8 tablets will not support flash player.
I am writng this reply completely with s pen and it is easy as writing on pen and paper.
Please be sure it is the best tab out there I know there is speculation of Nexus 10 coming out but I am sure Samsung will make sure that there is something missing in it compared to note10.1 to make sure it does not compete with it

Why do You think so ?
It´s got an Exynos from Samsung but only 1GB RAM and no Pen. Simply from the tech specs the Note 10.1 is unbeaten.

Can not see why the Ramos W30 is better than the Note 10.1, the ramos has only 1gb of RAM while the Note has 2gb and the Spen, after trading my Tegra based transformer with 1gb of RAM to the Note I can tell you that there is a huge difference.
I could not find anything that makes the Ramos superior to the Note.
I myself had the same dilemma a few weeks ago but after I realized the win 8 RT Tabs will not have real multitasking and taking in consideration that all win8 tabs will be first generation devices I have decided on the Note and I can honestly say that the last time I enjoyed a new device like the Note was the first Iphone when comparing to HTC Diamond back then means a lot.

I base this information about widely spread specifications that Ramos will be available in two versions 1GB and 2GB RAM built in. I mean Ramos W30 in spite of the fact the are a lot of Ramos models to be released.
There will be also IPS screen and 15% bigger battery.
Im not an advertiser, Ive just been looking for sth cheparer or better than Note but only Note has s pen and lot of features. Im ordering this device today or tomorrow

First of all congratulations you will enjoy it, secondly regrading "cheaper or better" cheaper defiantly better? you find one please share.
I love my Note and especially the S pen, quite a sophisticated piece of equipment. This tablet is so versatile that everyday you find new uses for it and all its features. Kudos to Samsung for creating this beast of a tablet

These are the specs of a few of the upcoming Ramos tablets as you can see most are pretty similar all under 300$ shipped from china I already have a standard w30 on the way for my sister and will be waiting for the w30hd for my self . The w31 is interesting as well. I think these are pretty nice tablets that are out by the end of this year. Right now only thing they are shipping is the standard w30 while the others will be end of this year or end of january. If you can wait the aussiepad2 looks very very interesting

Touch wiz would be illegal for a manufacture to install and then sell that product but there is no reason why you cannot install touch wiz your self. But I will probably just stick MIUI on it when I get mine.Hard for a developer community to pop up with only two weeks after sales of w30 while the others are not released until December 2012.
I don't get why you would compare the Ramos if it has no wacom digitizer stylus? Doesn't that defeat the whole purpose of this tablet? I mean, the high price for a resolution like this is only justified due to the stylus..

[Q] Tablet around 250$

Hi guys!
Since Christmas is comming, I would like to change my old ASUS TF300T, because it's big and very bulky, so... I'm looking for a 7" tablet with 3G connection (those two are a must).
In this price range, I was looking at the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 (7 inch model), and I would like to hear a few pros and cons, but esprecially to know those things:
- How does the screen perform ?
- What should I expect from the 1.2Ghz Quad core Exynos? How does it handle 2014 games (RR3, Dead Trigger 2, etc)? Can it be overclocked and how much? (VERY IMPORTANT !!!)
- How is the battery life ? (VERY IMPORTANT !!!)
- How is the 3G/Wi-Fi signal ?
- How does the speakers perform ?
Thank you to everyone who helps!
Anyone?
Isn't here any Galaxy Tab 4 user?
Well, I have change my mind... I don't want to buy the Galaxy Tab 4 anymore, because I've read some very dissapointing news here...
Samsung is being a j**k, and has put different chipsets on their devices. Only the 8" and the 10.1" versions has Qualcomm/Exynos chipsets, and the 7" version has a no-name chipset with a low power GPU.
Any sollution in this budget?
