random rebooting after flashing CM9 nightly roms. seems to be some kind of bug every time i start an application or turn on mobile data it cuases a reboot. i have flashed all of the following roms in an attempt to fix the problem:
PkMn ROM 4.1 Charmander
OrDroid V6.0.0
and the latest official cyanogenmod nightly
i did a restore to an ics lee droid rom i previously backed up before
and it seemed to run without a problem but after that i re flashed PkMn ROM for the sensation and now it performs a hot reboot instead. if anyone could help it would be greatly apprieciated as the problem seems to worsen after every reboot.
some times it would just go into a bootloop.

I think some partition is still corrupted.. I recommend you to do a wipe from recovery rather than scripts (if using 4ext then wipe/format ->>format all partitions except sdcard) and then flash another rom Again
If that didn't solved the issue RUU is the next thing.. If you are soff and supercid then get any ics RUU and run it.. It completely formats through phone and takes everything to stock.. But still retains soff.. So you revert back to normal once you do a ruu run(remember ruu run should be done with device in fastboot)

i will try this, but which RUU do you recommend i run?

Before you look into a partition problem, which is a pain to fix, check to make sure the battery is securely seated in the phone.
The batteries can become loose over time. Not very loose, but just enough to break electrical contact. And if the electrical contact is broken and restored quickly, a reboot is likely.
Open the phone and see if the battery wiggled. See if you can create the reboot problem by jiggling the battery. If you can, there are a few things to try to make the battery tighter.

Thanks for your suggestion. i saw a post on this yesturday, and this doesnt seem to be my issue, althought i tried the trick that is mentioned on the post, about putting a business card to make it tighter, and it deffinitely made it very tight, but the issue remained. thanks for your help though

Formatting all partitions is better than SuperWipe. It will ensure everything is completely cleaned out.

no no are you SOFF ?
if you are not SOFF but has unlocked bootloader..then relock it before running RUU
(fastboot oem lock)
then run the RUU..with phone connected in bootloader
i am s-off
if it helps heres what it says on the bootloader:

PYRAMID PVT SHIP S-OFF RL
HBOOT-1.27.1100
RADIO-11.22.3504.07_M
OpenADSP-v02.6.0.2226.00.0131

i put it on fastboot and connect it to my computer when running RUU. am i missing anything?

ok we do it different way then
first extract the rom.zip from any ICS RUU (choose one )
here is the guide to extract the rom.zip
http://www.htcsensationforum.com/htc-sensation-rooting/how-to-extract-rom-zip-from-ruu/
then keep the rom.zip in adb folder
keep the phone in fastboot
and connect it to pc (mobile reads "fastboot usb")
now type these commands one by one
1.fastboot erase cache
2.fastboot oem rebootRUU
3.fastboot flash zip rom.zip
4.fastboot reboot
if worked fine otherwise
im particularly interested in the complete output of the third command
so use PASTEBIN to paste the output and then repost the url with the pasted output

Check point 4 of my RUU guide. You can link all such questions there. Detailed explanation & methods.
I'm just suggesting because you gave him a very short explanation.
EDIT: Sorry, I probably didn't see that this is solved.

Some questions. The method from above is the same one used for flashing engineering bootloader after JB S Off
So, what exactly is this RUU mode? And does it bypass CID and fw version checks?
Also, what are the requirements for this mode to work (i.e. S-Off, unlocked bootloader)?
What are the benefits of using this over renaming rom.zip to PG58IMG.zip and flashing?
Thanks a lot for this. It will surely come in handy sometime & will definitely go into my guide.

its the same way as flashing via PG58IMG way
to bluntly say the PG58IMG flashing ..internally does the flashing the same way I've put it
RUU mode is the lowest level(visible) mode where flashing of bootloader, firmware, radio and even ROM is possible but the file format should be of PG58IMG zip
so simply put any PG58IMG.zip file which is not being parsed by bootloader properly can be manually flashed the above way
the same requirements that apply for PG58IMG.zip file applies over here too
i.e SOFF (irrespective of type of bootloader)
or unlocked bootloader with SON ...(remember in this case as only recovery, boot, data, system partitions are opened only those partitions can be flashed )

Thanks a lot Ganesh! Very useful info. So you mean that in this mode CID check is bypassed. That's nice.

no please don't get me wrong
at the end the zip we are flashing requires android-info.txt too (PG58IMG.zip has it too) which has cid and mid to it
the cid check is bypassed only when you are SOFF or has unlocked bootloader (for unlocked bootloader ..we still require cid signed radio, hboot (firmware) to update them via this method ..this is required as they are still secured [SON])
the above way of flashing gives you much more detail of whats happening when on command prompt..where we can identify the problem ..when flashing RUU..precisely

I'm coming from the Galaxy phones so I am totally lost with everything HTC. I was experience before that with my EVO 4G but, now I'm just completely stuck even after reading as much threads as I can. There are many posts similar to mine, but they don't contain the fix for my phone.
I traded my Captivate for a Sensation 4G. When I arrived home I realized the Wifi was not turning on. It was on ARHD 6.6.3. I've reflashed and flashed 6.6.4, then to Virtuous Inquisition v4.0.2 on Sebastian FM #1 Kernel. WiFi is dead. I tried the LogCat and it shows something about wifi not loading. I will provided the logcat if it helps.

And I have ext4 clockwork 1.0.0.4 (I think)
From my research. There shouldn't be a problem with kernel mismatch since I'm S-Off with Revolutionary. The guy that traded the phone with me won't reply back to what he did with the Sensation so I'm lost.
I checked the folders /data/misc/wifi and deleted the supplicant file, still no fix. Tried WiFix...didn't work.
I'm willing to go back to complete stock froyo or how the phone came in, but I want to be able to root. Because coming from an EVO I hear that once you RUU, you can return. So I'm afraid there.
Please provided me with the necessary steps to get my phone back to stock and easily go back to root/custom rom and wifi fix...

Can you do two things to fix wifi before returning to stock..
First I want you to verify this
1.go to 4EXT and under tools check whether there is an option called "smartflash" is there or not.
2.if it is there then disable smartflash.. It's for ppl with SON.. And causing problems for ppl who has soff
Them flash the rom again and see
If you didn't have smartflash option then try these two things
1.from whatever rom you have (i believe you have virtuous inquistion) extract the boot.img from the rom's zip file (inside kernels folder) and flash this via fastboot
Steps to do it
1. Copy the boot.img to adb folder of pc
2. Put your device in fastboot and connect it to your pc (mobile reads fastboot usb)
3. Flash the boot.img via fastboot
Command
fastboot flash boot boot.img
2.Now the other part
.copy the files present in kernel/modules folder present in The rom's zip file and paste them in /system/lib/modules/ of your mobile (usw file explorer to do this)
This should/will solve your wifi problem

Before doing anything rather try this simple procedure. Install root explorer or app like that to have access to root level, den, you can find the wpa_supplicant.conf file in /data/misc/wifi/ directory on your phone. Simply cut/rename the file and put it somewhere else.
Remove it from there and move it to sdcard..
Restart de phone. Wifi should work now.
Firstly, thanks for replying to my thread/help.
I see no option for smartflash in my recovery. I've done the kernel flash through ADB also. All the kernels that were included with the rom I've tried (the only one that works without bootloop is SebastianFM's). Finally, I did what you told me to do with the manual transfer of Kernel files to my mobile. Something new that happened is that the wifi toggle is toggle-able, but it will only stay "Off".
Also for the second reply, I've already done the wifi_supplicant thing. But this time I also tried it in combo with the first help.
Can you guys tell me if use RUU, will it be hard to go back to root?

its best if we clean the device entirely
backup all your important stuff to sd-cadr..there are lots of backup apps ..use em
the safest way to clean the device is by RUU
first of all RUU ...cleans wipes every partition..but it still keeps you SOFF...so you can customize your device any way you want even after RUU run
i presume you are superCID (i.e. 11111111)
if you don't know that then chk it via fastboot first
command fastboot getvar cid
then if not supercid do it (you can revert back to your original cid whenever you wanted just remember your original cid or save it somewhere)
command to supercid fastboot oem writecid 11111111 (eight ones)
then get any ICS RUU from this thread..(i suggest you to get the Europe one)
from this thread
if you are XE then get along this line
"RUU_PYRAMID_LE_ICS_35_S_HTC_Europe"
if you are normal get one along this line "RUU_PYRAMID_ICS_HTC_Europe_3.32.401.5"
keep your device in fastboot and connect it to pc
then run the RUU.exe and follow the onscreen instructions
after running RUU...chk for wifi problem..if it still persists then try any GB RUU...even after that also wifi problem is there then im afraid it might be Hardware/antenna problem
if running RUU fixed your wifi problem
then either you can stick with it..or you can flash custom rom again and see
Thanks again for the thought out reply. Many people ditch my problem after the first time. :]
I checked and I am super cid.
Okay so, I hear its bad to flash a rom that was meant for another country...
I have the T-Mobule Sensation. Does it make a difference?
Also, pertaining to the RUU-- I read around that the RUU has to be older than the phone? On the battery case, I see a date the phone was released. Should I follow suit?
Thanks.

i had tmobile sensation too and i use it in INDIA...im using ARHD 6.6.3 and through wifi i watch atleast 10 videos in YouTube..so i guess wifi is not dependent on phone and all
the only problem you might(rarely face ) is signal and data bandwidth..its dependent on the region ...if you do face this signal issue pm me..i'll let you know the best solution
now regarding RUU...you are SOFF and supercid..that's all is required you can run any RUU...im saying it again ANY RUU so no worries regarding RUU run
anyways we are doing RUU run to just clean the stuff...
after running RUU (follow the steps Ive posted earlier) we'll install ARHD or any other custom rom again
get 3.32 fw from here firmware
its a PG** file so i assume you know how to update it
(this firmware flashing is to just get the revolutionary eng HBOOT as RUU run turns your HBOOT state to locked again) dont forget to remove the PG*** file from sdcard after the update is done
then
flashing recovery again
get latest 4EXT from here RECOVERY DB LINK
extract and put the recovery.img in your adb folder(pc)
then flash it via fastboot
fastboot flash recovery recover.img
then get the ARHD or whatever rom into Sdcard
go to recovery
first do a backup (safe keep)
then the important step(which solves petty issues if any like wifi error and all)
go to wipe|format and do "format all partitions except sdcard" this is powerful than superwipe...so superwipe is not required (i highly recommend this step when changing roms ...for upgrading roms this step is not required)
then flash the rom via recovery and ...enjoy
I've decided to grab the TMOUS version (to avoid possible signal issues?). Unless you recommend the Europe version...? The download is super slow so it's going to take awhile. Meanwhile, I'm backing up apps with TiBu and will do Nandroid.
As for flashing firmware-- I'll be grabbing the PG file and putting it to the root of my Microsd. And fastboot it from bootloader..? (referencing this tut: http://www.theandroidsoul.com/how-to-flash-pg58img-zip-ics-firmware-on-htc-sensation/).

as for tmous...why dont we try stock gb tmous ruu then...(anyways we gonna update the firmware and flash ICS)
here is the stock tmous thread ..download it from there..its superfast
TMOUS 1.50 GB RUU
then for firmware flashing..just keep the PG58IMG file(name should be checked) on top of sdcard and boot into bootloader...the bootloader itself will identify it and will ask for update .say yes and the fw will be updated...after that you should remove the PG** file from SDcard otherwise you cant boot into bootloader (coz everytime you boot into bootloader it'll find the file and ask you whether you want to update or not..it'll be a recursive process)
then flashing recovery and rom (see my earlier post)
Just got done with RUU. I'm sad to say it's not working. The wifi just flips on and off.... :[ : [ : [
Is there a froyo I can go back to? Maybe that will work?
And now the bootloader is locked.

Wifi and Bluetooth both are causing issues means.. Antenna is screwed
Check the pins on the back of phone just above the camera lens.. Lift them up a bit also check the corresponding antennas on the he back cover..

i already did that but no result. I don't think it is a hardware issue cause when i try to turn on wifi or BT, trying a few second and give me "error". also, don't have MAC adress neither wifi or BT. MAC Adress Unavailable
exactly same problem with my sensation.
catlog says wifi driver couldnt load too.
wifi activate... and nothing happens.
internet trough cable (PC) works for you too?
I think my Wifichip is broken, how to repair it? any HTC technician here?^^
and if i use gingerbread i cant pass the first Rom settings, after the question of use wifi or mobile date/wifi i get a black screen and cant click anything. just powerbutton for standby and unlock ring.
My Sensation misses his wifi

What is the best way to find the correct RUU for my country? Or it is enough Pyramid Europe?
The thing is Im running a rooted android and I tried installing the InsertCoin ICS update and it gets stuck in the booting screen and restarts. How can I get ICS on my rooted sensation4g?
Thanks in advance
Update to the proper firmware for ICS. ICS and GB ROMs have different firmware.
Here is the thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1459767
Make sure you read this throughly before attempting to flash. Make sure you have S-Off and your CID is 11111111

you are SOFF..but your radio is too old..for ICS
that's the issue for your bootloop
whats your cid ?
anyways as you are SOFF we will change your cid to superCID (its fine as you can revert it back) if you are already super cid then ignore the next steps and go to firmware steps
supercid: (assumed that you have adb/fastboot setup on your pc)
go to fastboot on your mobile and connect it to pc (mobile reads "fastboot usb" after this )
then go to your adb folder on your pc and type this command
fastboot oem writecid 11111111 (eight ones)
then you are done you are supercid now
now you need to flash firmware 3.32 and install whatever ICS rom you want
firmware 3.32 and flashing any ICS ROM
this is by far the best guide to do that
FIRMWARE 3.32 and ARHD ...you can use the same steps for installing any ICS ROM even though the guide explained on flashing ARHD
Got it working thanks a lot
So basically i want to start "tuning" my Htc SENSATION XE, and i was looking around to install a cool ROM and i found that Revolutionary 6.7.0 with beats audio.
I was reading all the steps in order to successfully install the ROM.
Ofc my phone is alrdy S-OFF with supercid, but KEEP IN MIND IT WAS NOT ENG H-BOOT.
So i've rooted my phone, rebooted and all went smooth.. than i saw i was in need to update the RADIO.img, in order to do that i need the ENG-H BOOT. (HERE COMES THE PROBLEM)
I've flashed the ENG - HBOOT but when i reboot my phone it won't work, it just keep booting and stuck in beatsaudio logo, than reboot again and again.
So i've tried to restore by using a backup that i've done. Also i've deleted the PG58xxx.img and installed 3.3 firmware, nothing to do still not working, still bootloading and restart.
PLS Any help?
Thats what i see in Fastboot mode

I'm not 100 percent sure but your hboot doesn't seem right it should be 1.27. Try flashing the unlock version of 3.32 or 3.33 and try installing a rom.

The hboot you flashed is Completely wrong one
To have correct one.. Flash the 3.32 universal Firmware Then 3.33 firmware
Or alternatively you can flash the jb hboot
For jb hboot go here
http://unlimited.io/hboot-downloads/
Get the pyramid ics one.. From there
And flash it the following way
Connect the phone in bootloader to pc.
Copy the downloaded file to the adb/fastboot folder of your pc.
.. Open a command windows from your adb/fastboot folder
Then type these commands one by one
fastboot erase cache (if failed ignore it)
fastboot oem rebootRUU (black screen with silver htc)
fastboot flash zip jb_hboot.zip (if failed here.. Let me know)
fastboot reboot

flashing a RUU ..except SOFF and CID change (if you changed to superCID) you will lose everything ..so better do a backup of complete rom ...on sdcard ..then flash RUU and check it for yourself ..if you feel like reverting back
then ..just hboot flash like explained earlier
then custom recovery
then restore your backup

My phone, HTC Sensation XE, is S-ON, on default ROM, and has HBOOT 1.29.000. Needless to say, my phone is not rooted.
The phone is on a boot loop ever since I last took off the battery and placed it back. I sometimes get a message that my Android system is getting upgraded, terminating with an error "System UI has stopped working" before the phone restarts itself again.
I don't know if this is a hardware issue or software.
How do I get my phone to a normal state? I don't mind rooting the phone if I need to for the purpose of installing default/custom ROM. But I don't know if this would be possible because I only have access to boot screen at present.
Please suggest me suitable solutions. Thank you

When I try and do SOFF using KGS utility, it restarts my phone because my phone is not HTC dev unlocked. (My phone's motherboard was replaced some time ago, and so I cannot unlock my phone.)
ganeshp's one click root requires SOFF. I can't SOFF using his technique because temp_root.bat doesn't work in bootloader screen.
I am in trouble, and don't look like getting out of it

@ganeshp's one click root doesn't require htc dev unlock (meaning no prequisite permanent root; the guide has steps for temproot).
You just need one boot.
Do this: get the boot.img of your current (stock rom) and type fastboot boot boot.img.

I know its a long shot, but you should try doing a factory-reset from the bootloader, just in case it works.
Otherwise run an RUU from the bootloader.
firstly Itsakash he can't S-OFF because the device must be booted to the OS
secondly Far_SighT the command is fastboot flash boot boot.img
thirdly as raz0rf1sh suggested factory reset is a good idea and
fourthly jiteshgawali can you post your bootloader details?
It really is great to see your input guys.
@Far_SighT: I have tried doing the temp_root method, but it doesn't work for me. I could successfully run temp_root.bat just once (luckily, even in boot loop), but next when I tried doing the Juopunutbear SOFF it missed detecting my phone (again, because of the bootloop)
I don''t know where I can get a boot.img file from; for what it's worth, I could only get an OTA zip file for my region/CID from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1764025
@raz0rf1sh: I have done factory reset several times from bootloader, doesn't help friend. I don't have an RUU for my region/CID, all I have is an OTA zip file for my phone from the link I have specified right above this. Can't seem to get an RUU for firmware base 3.33, and CID HTC__038.

For stock rom go http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1923629.
Get the rom and extract boot.img.
Then use the earlier command I posted.
Yes I haven't seen Indian version ruu until now ..so ruu is out of question AFAIK
Now the factory reset over boot loader should help if you have software problems but as per your replies it didn't work it seems
Tried HTC Dev unlock ? Even if the motherboard is replaced its worth a try
If htcdev unlock failed
Then try to go to recovery first ..from boot loader and if you went to recovery properly let me know
The other solution I propose is try to do change the cid ..even on locked bootloader sometimes it works
Try these commands one by one
fastboot oem writecid HTC__001
Then
fastboot reboot-bootloader
Then check cid using this command
fastboot getvar cid
If cid changed that's a good sign

I said fastboot boot boot.im instead of fastboot flash boot booti.img as the previous one boots the rom with with the new image but doesn't attempt to write that to the boot partition. Hence it might get him a much needed boot to s-off.

I've searched far and wide, and I found a lot of threads regarding the specifics of my problem, but none that solve it. A point in the right direction is much appreciated.
I have an AT&T HTC One X (used to be S-OFF now S-ON), unlocked, HBOOT 1.12.0002 CID 1111111
I've been running CM 10.1.3 for a while now and it's very glitchy and causes random reboots and freezes. I've been trying to upgrade to 10.2 or try a variety of different roms. When flashing I kept getting the following error: E:Error executing updater binary in zip..
I lived with the rom for a while because of the error, but today got fed up. I googled it and found out TWRP was probably the problem so I downgraded to 2.3.3.0. Then I got a (Status 7) error which means either that the ROM is not for the Evita (not true) or TWRP is out of date (true but necessary). I tried getting the .zip to stop checking what phone it was, didn't work.
SO I wonder if I have to upgrade HBOOT? I google it and try this guide.
It all worked up until the adb part, where at first it said the device was not there, then that it was offline, then it said permission denied. So I tried again thinking I did something wrong, but after flashing zip it said "FAILED(remote:99 unknown fail).
Now my phone is S-ON and stuck in bootloop. I'll flash boot.img and hopefully it will be fine, but I just want to know what the hell is wrong with my phone, any ideas? I cannot possibly continue with this stupid ROM as it's driving me nuts, but PHONE NOT COOPERATING.
Thanks!!!!!
Flashing boot.img did not work. I'm in bootloop hell.

Since you are S-On with SuperCID, I would say to revert back to your original CID and then flash the appropriate RUU. Make sure you definitely change back to your original CID, as trying to run the RUU with S-ON and SuperCID will brick your phone. You can then re-SuperCID your phone, unlock the bootloader, and try a new custom ROM. I would also recommend getting back to S-OFF after doing all of the above.

Hang on, there's something very fishy here. The hboot 1.12 is not an Evita hboot, that's an Endeavoru hboot. Please post your hboot details (the first five lines in bootloader), and please post the full filename of the ROM you're flashing.
I believe you're confused as to which device you actually have, and you're potentially trying to flash a ROM that isn't meant for your device.

Thanks!!!!!

How u get S-ON again anyway after S-OFF......FAILED 99 : check your adb version by entering this on your adb folder......most likely u got 1.0.29 version which is always show device offline....u need to update it to 1.0.31 version ....check other Q&A thread.....it been talking over and over again......if u do first XDA rules.....READ. As per timmaaa requested ......in case u dont know ...... power off your phone.....then hold both power button+vol down for few second and only let go power button while u still holding vol down.....this will bring u to bootloader

No I have "Android Debug Bridge version 1.0.31".
Ah ok, that makes more sense! Are you absolutely sure the ROM you're flashing is an Evita ROM? Where did you download it and what is the full filename?
You said the phone was s-on but not anymore? Why did you return it to s-on? You're gonna need to get s-off again so you can RUU up to 3.18 so you can flash the recent aosp ROMs. When you get the error 99 after flashing the zip, just force a reboot back to bootloader by holding volume down and power together. Once you're back in bootloader you can start again (without the adb reboot bootloader command because you're already in bootloader) and you should get error 92 now. Now, before you give the adb soffbin commands you need to make sure the screen is unlocked and stays unlocked, also make sure usb debugging is enabled in developer options. If it's an aosp ROM you'll also need to grant root access to adb in developer options.
For now my suggestion would be to download a Sense ROM, preferably Android 4.0 or 4.1, this should at least boot and enable you to get s-off on your phone again. Don't forget top flash the boot.img via fastboot.

Your adb version is fine, you can leave that the way it is.

I decided to boot into recovery and flash CM 10.0.0, and so I got out of bootloop. It's very glitchy, the keyboard keeps crashing, but it "works".
Now I'm trying to get S-OFF using this tool. At first it didn't work, so I changed the CID back to original. Now I get the following error:
Before we continue:
Ensure your phone is rooted.
Disable "Fast boot" on the phone under Settings -> Power.
Enable "USB Debugging" under Settings -> Developer Options.
Make sure your HTC One XL is connected to your mac via a USB cable.
When you're ready, press return to continue...

It might be that I did not disable fastboot, but that is because the option is just not available on the phone, there is no "Power" category. I did enable debugging, but there was no notification in the menu bar making me maybe think that the OS is just too glitchy for this to work.
I didn't know what else to do, tried unlocking the bootloader through HTCDev but when I got to step 13 the notification did not come on screen like it was supposed to and so that was unsuccessful. I guess this was a silly idea.
I'm trying to be as descriptive as possible in case this happens to anyone else!
Cannot find stock Android 4.1 as suggested, for some reason. I found this, but I have a mac and .exe files mean nothing to me. I figure 10.0.0 has to be as stable as it gets with what I have, so I reflashed and boot.img. Now I'm stuck in bootloop again! Am I not meant to have nice things?
Could you suggest a rom to download and flash? After that I'll try S-OFF via Facepalm again.

Well try any ICSbase rom......i did tried cleanrom 4.2 ICS base Rom sense 4.......but since u on 1.14 hboot u need to extract boot.img from original Rom to your working adb/fastboot folder and push it manually from fastboot.....
1.put ICS of your choice inside ur SD card
2.copy or extract boot.img from Rom you about to flash and place it inside your working adb/fastboot folder.
3.connect your phone to PC and make sure USB debugging check....and HTC driver install properly
4. Flash Rom from recovery and choose go back> reboot> bootloader and this would bring u to fastboot USB mode if u have correct driver install and USB debugging check .
5. Go to your adb/fastboot folder hold shift+right click > open command Window .....and enter code to push boot. img tru fastboot......I forgot the code...but I'm sure timmaaa knew out of his head......
6.if successfull......reboot system and u should have working ics sense 4 Rom
7.play with it a day or too before u attempt facepalm S-OFF and in the mean time do more reading.......
