Vlingo is what powers the S-Voice on the SGS3, and Vlingo Labs just recently came out with a new version of their BETA app which offers more features, like talking to your phone without even opening the vlingo app.
For a official app(this one does not have the feature i mentioned above, yet, but it is more stable) https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.vlingo.client&feature=more_from_developer
For the BETA app with the new features: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.vlingo.phoenix
Vlingo BETA shows a whole new UI (VERY similar to the S-Voice, but as far as I know, its a lighter-white theme, not dark like Svoice)
*NOTE* app works for US and Canada only right now. I have not tired to see if it will work, but try this apk if you are not located in the US/Canada

Any way we can theme it to look like S-Voice? I'm sure they can't and won't due to copyright issues, but we should be able to without any issue.

Does the beta allow "navigate to" and "open xxx" commands? I guess what I really want to know is what commands ARE in s-voice that are NOT in the vlingo beta.
*ignore*
I tried installing the apk on my LG Optimus L3 and I get a parsed error. is it for ICS only?

I'm not completely sure about that, I'm sure once they get out of BETA it would attract more themers though.

Not yet. I do think that the stable Vlingo does support navigate to and open commands. The BETA, as far as I know, consists of these commands:
Send Text Message
Place a call
Search the internet
Schedule appointments etc.
You have to understand thats why its BETA. I'm sure eventually they will bring almost if not all the features from S-Voice over.

You can try pushing the apk directly to /data/app/ and see if that gets around the parsing error.

Very nice UI. Unfortunately, only in English.
Working great on at&t note. Best calendar voice app ever.

For anyone wondering it is only for ICS devices.
As always
I've been using vlingo for a few years now with android and each update it gets better and better. I deleted svoice off of my nexus and have begun using the beta app..... Much better than the last version.
Thank you.
Works fine on my One X (not rooted)
Better than s-voice

Works very good on my nexus s in the Netherlands!
I think the Vlingo Beta is pretty slick. I do miss the regular version features:
navigate
update status
safe reader for incoming messages
reply to for text messaging
But as posted above, there are some pretty funny "comebacks" the beta app will tell you if you request unsupported features.
Looks good so far

AwayMessage is a very simple app that lets you ignore phone calls while not ignoring the people. For example, If you enable the app before you drive, and someone calls you while you're driving it will send them the following text message.
"Sorry, I'm currently away from my phone right now - (Sent Via AwayMessage)"
Or you Can now use a Custom Message:
To use the custom message feature do the following:
Enter your message, hit "set", then hit the Radio Button to "Use Custom". And when ready hit "Enable Away Message Notification".
This is V1.1 (Updated on 12/29/10) In the future we plan to do:
-Custom Message ( I expect to get this done within the week)
-Ongoing notification
-Preset Messages (Same timeframe as custom message)
-And a few other small tweaks
Before I released this app there were some issues I had that were tough to recreate so if you get any errors, FC's, or the app doesnt send text messages to the recipient please report them with the following:
Phone Make/Model
OS
ROM
Carrier
Or if you wish to do it in private PM or email me @ steven(at)seattleadmin(dot)net
Thanks to:
-Scary.Alien for Co-Developing this app
-Jamezelle for Developing/Testing
-Geniusdog254 for testing
-Zifnab for testing and ideas
The app is now FREE on the market and free on XDA by clicking the attachment down below. I will keep this thread updated along with future releases.
Thanks and please leave your feedback!

So far so good worth buying as soon as its complete with the features you mentioned thanks. Running great on T-Mobile G2 wit Cyanogen mod 6.1 Rom Stable.
I think you should develop on a widget, so you do not have to find the program. Just one click to enable/disable.

Widget Help
Scenario:
When I click on Music Widget (stock/gapps version) it asks which player you would like to use... 'Music: com.android.music' or 'Music: com.google.android.music'
If I select the second one I get the big 'Sorry! The application Music (etc...) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.'
I know beta has it's is own widget but it isn't themed like stock under CM7 themes.
Since the beta version wants/tries to use the stock widget is there any way to allow it?? i.e. No need to force close?
This is mainly to keep aesthetic theme appeal ^^

I'm assuming you were talking to me though without a quote I cannot be sure. I did try ME (Market Enabler) prior to posting this request. Setting my SIM to US T-Mobile or US Verizon did NOT affect the change I was wanting. I am still unable to located Google Music on my phone or via the Market Online. Prior to you asking, yes I did double-check that the sim identifier was modified.
So, if you happen to have Google Music (latest version) and you have Titanium Backup I would truly appreciate a single backup copy of it. Thank you for the response.
I had to uninstall the mobile app. It was moving music from my phone to my car flash drive without being prompted. Stuff I didn't want on the flash drive or had categorized differently. Also, it would start playing every time I would want to stream internet radio from my phone through the car stereo bluetooth connection. I'd stop it so I could hear the station and it would start back up again.

New updates will be there on market.

You have your thread list. Tap on a thread and it opens the thread. Slide right for a new text and left for the thread list. In the time it would take you to watch a video demonstration you could just install it and play with it for ten seconds then keep or uninstall it.
That said it works nice, but is a little janky and stuttery on my N4. Nice concept though and looks good.

Does this require the stock messaging app to still be active or can it be frozen? (like I do when using Go SMS)

You should be fine freezing it. Although when you receive an MMS, it asks you to open the stock app as they aren't yet supported.
just uptaded the app but still force closes..

I will be looking into these fcs tomorrow, I believe they have something to do with searching through the contacts in the phone book. Are you using stock android or something like Motorola or Samsung software? Thanks for testing!
EDIT: just updated, hopefully will fix FCs people are having! please let me know whether or not it is working now, and if not, send me a logcat and i will do my best to fix! next update: speed improvements hopefully!
Thanks for testing guys
Ok, updated now and its working fine, really like the sliding. This could be the default sms app. Waiting, til it gets more sable and it would be awsom if u could includ fast replay in notification pulldown keep it up

Works well on CM10.1 VZW SGS3. needs mms support and group mms etc..... great app idea though
Features needed: MMS, Quick reply à la AOKP/CM10 messaging app, dark holo theme.
Still FCs for me, can't get a logcat right now

Needs MMS and quick reply and this would be perfect!

i'm sorry, i havent done much language support with it so i really have no idea how it would behave in Czech... it does break messages into more than one if over 160 characters in the english language at least.
Can you provide a market link? I can't find. Looks awesome
