So I just got my Int. Version of the One x today. Been using the AT&T Galaxy note since it released. I got a week to decide if I wanna keep the one x or not. If I wanna keep the one X i`ll prob still return this one and get the AT&T one. $595 compaired to 149 on Amazon.
How does your AT&T One X work for ya? the thing im worried about mostly is Battery life, Cause on my Note I had 3 batteries lol.
Only android phone I've seen with better battery life is the Razr Maxx
Battery life is fantastic. Check out this thread for comparisons: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1612612

the S4 Krait is a very power efficient SOC.
i came from the AT&T note to the AT&T One X.
things i miss about the note: playing with various ICS leaks. better multi-tasking/memory management (guessing the great devs here will fix that now)
that's about it, everything else is better or as good as the note. battery life is great, the screen is gorgeous, and now the bootloader is unlocked. oh, and the design/feel of the one x is much much better
I have the At&t note and now the One X and so far I like the One X better.
I looked at the Note but concluded it was too damn big for a phone.
Plus you can get S-Voice on the HOX now.
I have the att one.
Coming from 4S and ip4 before that. Iphone 4 had better battery than the 4S but the 4S is quicker doing task and what not.
I would say the battery life for the 3 days I been using it has been great. Dare I say better than the iphone 4.

You can definitely say that. I thought the iPhone 4 had great bat life, but the One X beats it. This thing lasts me all day with pretty heavy use!

How is the screen compared ? The One X is 720 SLCD, while the Note is full HD 1280 SAMOLED+ . For me after having a SAMOLED (Galaxy SII) compared to a SLCD (Sensation) the difference is phenomenal !

The HTC`s screen looks so much more nice
i also have htc one xl and everything is fine except camera. not good result. and focus looses while recording what the fu'ck is f/2.0 and BSI sensor
I just sold my international galaxy note so I could get the one x. The camera is way better on the HOX. The screen to me is not that much of a difference. On the note the only thing that sucks about the screen is when you watch a movie, the dark scenes are very blotchy, it looks like a checkerboard. I tried every Rom out there including the official CM9 to try and fix it but nothing worked. The HOX killed my note on benchmarks, but when comparing them side by side in real world use I believe my note was faster. I was running CM9 on the note though.

It seems that they are a lot of people who have come from the galaxy s2 to the one x. and I am one of those people.
This thread is to express your thoughts on which is better and for what reason.
my opinion:
s2 over the one X:
Better battery life
more Roms at the moment
Smaller (I prefer Bigger though)
AMOLED screen has better blacks
Higher resolution front facing camera
Better video recording quality in my opinion
Touchwiz seems to be lighter on the RAM and processors
most issues have being fixed via updates (lets hope this will be the case for the One X)
One X over the S2:
Bigger (depends what you like)
Higher resolution screen
Produces better whites
Better camera quality in my opinion
My device gets warm, not hot like my S2 did.
HTC Sense over Touchwiz (depends what you like)
Better build quality
quad core
I personally think better call quality.
My son had his upgrade at the weekend and went for the Galaxy S2 over the One X and loves it... i have to say I found it a tough choice but i prefer the Samsung over all as I hate HTC battery life and wifi signal generally.
Both awesome phones though!
Well i think its not fair to compare those two because they belong to different "generations".I do agree with you on both pros and cons of s2.We still have to wait for s3,then it will be true battle
Yeah I don't think you can compare the two. Have both must say one x for me is far superior. To add to your list one x
Looks and feels better in the hand.
ICS.
Better Keyboard.
LED light notification.
The only reason I would go with gs2 over the one x is simply it would far cheaper option.

Also, I think once you're used to HTC Sense, it is quite hard to switch to a different user interface, though I believe the SG galaxy UI is also well thought of.
I went from a SGS2 to a HTC One X. I felt the HTC was always "laggy" as if things were not being gpu accelerated. It always seem to sit on the helper core in many apps overall the experience was not as expected for such a "fast" device. My SGS2 with ICS and Gingerbread is flawless, everything is smooth. Much more so over the One X with scrolling. Other positives is the blacks are much better, motion clarity is nicer removable battery and SD card and the battery life is much better. The "back" button is also in the right place since I am right handed rather than having to stretch my thumb across the phone, it also doesn't have the issue with the 3 dots at the bottom in most apps.
The One X has a nice resolution screen and a decent camera and I do like the LED notification everything else id say the SGS2 is better for which is bizarre considering it is a phone which is over a year old.
I have just got hold of a One S since I am taking the One X back and that is a different beast. Battery life is fantastic ( 2 days of heavy usage ), blazing fast much lighter and "better" in the hand than the One X is. Unfortunately is it let down by the pentile screen but it is actually surprisingly good overall I am much happier with the One S than the One X.
The SGS2 is just a fantastic phone considering the age... I am really looking forwards to to the SGS3
There is a 'hack' somewhere for the One X, which would resolve the battery issues?
i have galaxy s2 and i love it. go for galaxy s2.
when SGS3 comes out, the price of SGS2 will definitely drop. and that's good news cause SGS2 is still pretty much a kickass phone!

I agree, ahahaha
Wait for SGS3 and then go and buy
So the Gal S 3 jsut got leaked:
Quad core Exynos
12mp rear
2mp front
1280x720 Super AMOLED
16gb expandable to 32
This is gonna be a touch one. 4.7in screen on the S3 is gonna be big, so I'm totally on the fence now.
http://www.techshout.com/mobile-phones/2012/25/samsung-galaxy-s-3-gets-benchmarked/
I was thinking about holding out for the S3 but I think 4.7 is just too big for my tastes (and hands). The 4:3 of the One S seems about perfect for my hands. Bought one today figuring I can return it in the 15 days if the S3 turns out to be killer but I think the size alone has me sticking with the One S.

Hmmm youre onto something here. The 4212 is indeed a dual core, so something's up with the reports. But I cant imagine a dual core 1.4ghz destroying a 1.5ghz dual core S4 chip, atleast not by 2x. But I just ran Antutu and got about 7500. S3 is at 14000
Also haven't the previous GSIII leaks been of quad core chips?
Edit: also the 4212 is clocked at 1.5 ghz, why is this reporting it at 1.4?

Seems like AnTuTu didn't know what to label it as so they called it a 4212.
Built quality on One S is similar to Nexus One and its the best on the market....S3 will be plastic probably, 12m camera means ****, display is still pentile (probably)
I took care of my dilemma by unlocking, rooting, and ROMing my One S.
I cant be convincing myself that 4.7 inches is acceptable size for me. It just isn't. And to be honest, there's only so much you can do with a phone's speed before you're at the mercy of your data connection. I can't honestly see what I'd get out of the SGS3 that I wouldn't on the One S. Sure, a better screen maybe, but even then, there's only so many pixels you can fit before it doesn't matter.

My motto is unless its a RUU, leaks are rumors! Lol i have saw the S3 Having 12- MP with 2Mp front, 8M with 1.3 front and the updated eynos or whatever. What will be funny is when they release it and its dual core because LTE can't handle quad core. Or when it comes out with the same specs as the one S.
ERASED
S3 will kick ass of 95% of the phones out there when released but bottom line will be how practical it will be to use on a daily basis, size and overlay wise.
S2 was the same...spec wise it was awesome but the size let it down for me, thin yes but not comfortable to hold and touch wiz overlay was rubbish compared to sense.....s3 will be the same.
If you want to get caught up in the 'specs race' then go for it but you will no doubt end up in the same boat as the one x with either poor battery and the device will not last a day or once the novilty is over realise that 4.7 inch screen is just too big for 90% of people to use.
Just my opinion.
The One X was too big just as the Samsung S3 will be too big. Looking at the One X section it didn't bother many people so I guess its going to do very well.
At the end of the day the One S is just the right size for me, I experience no lag and I don't really know when I'm going to use all the power as is?
Super Super Battery
I played with it today to test it out (im with sprint so i have to resort to the beautiful Evo LTE, damn) and wow!. Camera is awesome and best of all it had 27% battery after 1d 16h! WTF! wow. Cant wait to get mine where I can turn off the 4g! Cant wait for root!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just remember though, no community = no good ROMs. We've got 3-5 ROMs so far, but no AOSPish projects except CM9 in the works so far. The One X community is doing pretty well, although their community is in a tough position with the US AT&T version being a different architecture. Here's to hoping that a lot of dev on the Snapdragon-version One X will carry over to ours. I have a feeling it will....

The one S has been out for a while, but remember its not a flagship phone, so it may take a while for it to pick just as it has done other phones. It just came out in the USA so I would expect it to pick up soon. The desire had the same issue but they got dev. We also have 4 AOSP projects not 1.

Completely seconded.
Hehe. So, I am not the only one using that tactic.
Hey guys, I'm getting a new phone in August when my contract dies. My current phone is a stock Nexus S running Jellybean. I'm trying to decide between getting the HTC One S, or the Samsung Galaxy S III. Both are priced at $400 on a 2-year contract with Virgin mobile, and I'm completely stuck on making my decision. With the One S, have any of you had considerable problems or issues with it? Would you get an SIII if you could? I believe that each of these phones are evenly matched, and each have their strengths and their weaknesses. I'm a fan of HTC Sense 4.0, and i like the overall build quality of the One S, but the S III has more ram, a removable battery and expandable memory. The HTC One X is not available with Virgin mobile, so I cannot get the HTC equivalent of the S III. Which would you recommend?
Thanks
Well. That depends. If you love trying new ROMs/kernels on your device, the s3 is going to be better in the long run. Not that the one s lacks a healthy dev community. We have many great devs with awesome Roms but the s3 has more people on board.
On the other hand, I found the one s more stylish and I like Sense 4 better.
Personally, I have no issues with my One S and with HTC promising a JB update, we know that, hopefully, all software related issues will be squished. You could look around for some common issues but nothing serious IMO but YMMV.

then you prolly didnt complete the steps to get the 25 gb. you should have gotten an email when you registered for DB or signed in which told you how to get the 25 gb.
as for your q, im more than happy with the one s. The screen is the perfect size whereas i believe the SG3 has a screen thats too big to be comfortable. Maybe if you have big hand its ok lol. The only drawback i suppose would be the 16 gb storage, but using DB and google play music, that isn't really an issue. in the end though, it all comes down to your choice. Both are amazing phones
HTC One S was my choice. I prefer Sense 4.0 over Samsung's skin as well as I think HTC is doing better with updates than Sammy.

And of course you would expect the display of a device that costs about £130 more to be better.
the galaxy s3 is not miles ahead of the one s. I had it. Glad I got my money back. Its nice but it is way too big and feels like a kids toy.
I found myself in same position 3 weeks ago, and I struggled for weeks researching my choices between one s and s3. All my friends got s3 so I had a good chance to try it.
Though what s3 does is impressive as far as speed and memory goes, it seriously lags in look & feel and coolness factor. It feels like lugging around a tablet than phone and it barely fits in pocket.
Compare that to one s, which I finally ended up getting which is incredibly fast, memory though less never been a hindrance. I had 10gigs available after all system programs which I believe is plentiful when added with the online storage options.
Sure s3 beats one s in all test scores but one s Screen is unbelievable, phone is sleek and stylish and you can still reach around with one hand and fits in your pocket. Camera will put your point and shoot cameras to rest and I cannot be more happy.
And battery life is great too. I got a about 12 hours on moderate use even with couple of camera flashes and I still have 20% left.
Ultimately think of the long term impacts of having a tablet for a phone for next 2 years just because it is fast and more memory, vs. having a sleek, handy pocket able phone which is still fast with decent amount of memory.

Does Adobe Flash still work on both devices?
gs3 = hot and plastic
main reason i switched from gs2 to one s
i tried the gs3 its just gets hot when using the phone
Actually the GS 3 doesn't even beat the S in all of the benchmark tests (both the quad and S4 version), yes the res. does have an impact but then the XL has the same hardware but also 720P res. and it still beats the GS 3 in the majority of tests.
The GS 3 international version only beats both in the tests, which uses the GPU such as quadrant etc. as the GPU is far better than the adreno 225.
Only areas that the GS 3 is better is:
screen
1080P recording
storage/SD slot
removable battery
bigger developing community
Everything else is more or less same or better on the S (IMO):
- camera is more or less the same (some photos look better on the GS 3, others look better on the S), however, the UI is better than touchwiz alternative and has way more features, which are actually cool and make taking photos more enjoyable.
- Speed/smoothness is more or less the same, only reason the GS 3 appears to be smoother is due to the animations/timing that is used, could achieve the same if you flashed those animations and had the exact same timings, besides were getting JB soon hopefully so there will be virtually no difference then (on any of the phones)
- audio is more or less the same (some say the GS 3 is better, others say the S is better)
- out of the box battery life is better (to be expected considering the S has a smaller battery and is only qHD), not by a huge amount though, however, with the GS 3 you can carry spare batteries around with you
- sense V4 is far far better in looks/UI, unified feel, the stock apps are amazing such as the gallery, calendar etc. touchwiz has loads of gestures and some cool features (but the majority of these are being ported over to every other android phone, such as the smart stay feature (iseeyou, works great on my S), Svoice, smart status bar (can drag the notification bar down when in an app full screen) etc. only a matter of time till we get things that like smart alert etc. The same can't be said with sense app/features though. IMO touchwiz is too bloated and no real unified feel across the apps/menus etc. everything just looks disorganized and the colour scheme is too kiddish/cartoonish
- and lastly the build/perceived quality of the S is miles ahead of the GS 3 and IMO looks far better compared to the GS 3 (subjective the looks though)
Do you want a phone that fits in your trouser pocket?
Get the One S
Are you a basketball player with huge hands?
Get the One X or Galaxy S3
Want to watch lots of movies?
Get a tablet.
Phones are getting far too big these days. Unfortunately there are no top spec 4" phones, so I got the One S. It's still in the mail so I can't really review it further. Manufacturers really need to learn from apple here, make it pocket sized for f&# sake. Also half the market is female and even being an average size male I find the latest phones too large.
There are some things that suck on the One S though: No MicroSD , Stupid capacitive buttons, at least samsung always have one proper button, sense UI looks like tacky plastic ****.
If you do get one s make sure it's not the old snapdragon S3 SoC which has worse battery life.
I whole heartedly agree with the above. I'm 6'0 healthy 225 pounds guy that thought the beastly oversized gs3 would fit me. I was wrong. That thing is just way to big. I found one handed operations almost impossible. The display isn't that great either, not for the price. Plus I had a amoled smear that looked like a smiley face smack in the center of the screen. The one s that uses Samsung amoled displays shows no sign of such things.

With one s processor by selling the latter, are there any cons?

Hey there!
Well it depends. The One X is a real upgrade if you own an One S with S3 CPU. The S3 CPU has lower performance than the Tegra 3 or S4 Krait, depending on what version of One X are you getting. So, yes, there you have: better CPU, bigger/better screen. But this is an advantage only if you're willing to trade the great form factor of One S for the gigantic One X.
If you had the One S with S4 Krait CPU, i would say that you won't gain nothing but the screen if upgrading to One X.
Oh, and by the way, in any of the cases, you will loose some battery life.
S3 processor here has a massive consumption I hardly believe that one x gets worse battery. once I lost 40 percent in just two hours by using Facebook messenger and 70 percent brightness on the one s
I saw that the camera is the same, why would equip your top product with the same camera of a lower spec phone?
Anyway I am really bothered by pixels visibility on htc one s so I think it will be a trade for the better

Well, the decision is yours, if you want a better screen, go for it. Personally, i don't see any pixels on my device, the resolution is pretty solid for this screen size.
About the camera, well, the camera module is the same, but keep in mind that the One S has one hell of a camera. So it's not like they have equipped the One X with a lower camera, but more like they have equipped the One S with a higher end camera .
The battery drain can be related to apps running in the bg or to the kernel/rom/governors. So you might take a look into this too. Generally, the One S has a pretty good battery, outperformed only by few phones out there.
Cheers!
I suggest to you to buy the hox plus. The hos s3 is not so good as the s4.

So i've been planning on getting a new phone for a while now and I love the speed of my One S. Has anybody used the One X? How fast would you say it is in comparison because I think the One S seemed faster but then again I haven't used a One X with the sense 4.1 update and I know that was a huge update for us. The phone got a hell of a lot snappier and smoother. I was planning on getting the nexus 4 but if you look at the forum for that the battery life and build quality is extremely disappointing.

Nice and brief lol!
Only the memory is slower, the processor is faster and the GPU is better. Other than that, it's slightly fatter and can't hold a charge for long
only advantages of the X are:
- screen
- NFC
- more storage
one S (s4):
- better CPU chipset for performance, heat and power efficiency
- faster
- aluminium uni-body
- much better battery life
- better audio
- 1080P recording is smoother
However, JB has made a huge difference to the X for audio, performance and battery life (but it still isn't as good as the S and plus chances are the S could improve even further in these areas when it gets JB)
You want to be looking at the X+ or preferably the XL if you don't need any more than 32GB of storage.

Cheers for the info. I'm not that interested in how good the One X hardware is because the One S is fast enough it's just I long for a phone with a hd screen that is larger than 4.3 so the One X fits my preference perfectly. I also need more storage for my music collection and the price of the One X is really good now so I want it. The only thing that lets the One S down is the screen. It's not bad but a pentile super amoled display at a qhd resolution is hardly something to boast about in late 2012. What do you guys think about the Nexus 4? I really wanted to get it but after looking at the threads there are so many design flaws with it and the battery life is supposed to be terrible. (One X battery is better)

However, JB has made a huge difference to the X for audio, performance and battery life (but it still isn't as good as the S and plus chances are the S could improve even further in these areas when it gets JB)
You want to be looking at the X+ or preferably the XL if you don't need any more than 32GB of storage.

Really informative reply thanks. May I ask why the audio on the one x isn't as good? Surely sound output through headphones is just as good as they both use the beats amp? Or do you mean mics and recording? I've just looked at the One XL and in the UK it's confusing, they sell it at a Qhd resolution and it's a compeltely different phone to the american XL. I do want the One X+ but at £470 it's really not worth it. That's an extortionate amount of money for an HTC phone and everyone knows that HTC phones lose their value incredibly quickly

No problem
Regarding the nexus 4, it looks great, however;
- camera not as good
- battery life not as good
- audio not as good (more so the loudspeaker performance)
Personally the only advantages it has over the S (that apply to me) are;
- better NLED
- better and bigger screen, although quite a few users are saying the screen looks washed out compared to other LCD based screens
- better software support and you get updates much quicker
Although there is something wrong with the software on the N4, the battery life should be much better and I am betting that a software update will improve it so it will be as good as the S if not better (S4 pro + 2100mAh + power efficient display and with stock android, which should be very well optimised thus we should be seeing much better battery life from it )

Awesome. It's really rare to find people who give pros and cons on devices. If only there were more people like you! Usually it's always either Pros or Cons!

Thanks for your opinion. I actually considered the GS3 but after looking at many sites and youtube video comments the One X comes out on top and the screen is a big priority of mine and the SGS3 has an inferior screen that is no where near as bright as the One X. If I'm honest the only 2 types of phones I will ever consider at this present time are HTC phones or a nexus device.
International or North American/Australian One X?

I own an AT&T HTC One X (One XL everywhere else) and my girlfriend owns the One S (S4). My impression? They're exactly the same aside from mine being better tuned... Which is to be expected.
My screen is definitely nicer though.

No problem, only suggested the s iii cause it fit all your needs, hd screen, bigger screen, not to mention it (unlike HTC current phones and nexus) has the micro sd slot which you said storage was a big deal for ya

Speaking as a hox owner and comparing it to the one s of the missus: there are a few big advantages of the one x: better and bigger screen, better sound and more storage. The better speed of the one s is not noticeble. It depends on what you find important in a phone. Never in the world would i trade my one x for a one s.

Well I've found a good deal on the one x+ so I'll probably buy that if I get the money! Massive amount of storage less reflective screen. Better battery life. I'm drooling haha!
