[Q] Don't get picture messages from only ONE contact - General Questions and Answers

Me and my friend both have unlocked Galaxy Nexus phones. He is on T-Mobile and I am on AT&T. I can receive picture messages from anybody and everybody else in my entire contact list but when he sends me a picture I'm only getting blank messages. We can receive each others texts just fine and he can receive my picture just fine as well but not vice versa. It's a bit annoying and I dont like using 3rd party apps like Voxer or LiveProfile to send and receive pix cuz those apps suck lol I'm not sure if it's a carrier problem and I can't really test it because I don't know anybody else who has T-mobile. My question is: "WTF?" lol

[Q] SMS app that indicates received/sent?

Got a Desire Z with Cyanogenmod 7.
The SMS app displays only with whom I was in contact but it does not indicate if I received the SMS from that person or if I sent it.
I tried a couple apps from market but they were all alike, including GO, Pansi, one other I already forgot. (Plus they had tons of features I don't need, ad supported. I need something *simple*.)
Suggestions appreciated.
I don't really get what you are asking for. Sms to and from one person are grouped in conversation. You can see which sms you sent by looking at the alignment of the person's picture (or placeholder for that). If you wrote it, its right-aligned.
I believe the OP is asking like the other NON-Smart phone SMS display like you see messages in folders with Inbox and Sent items.
Well in android, I have no need for that coz grouping is the next generation and much logically displays your logical conversation.
Still you can do all your SMS tasks with this.
Did you try Handcent sms app?

[Q] How to use Instant Messging without being connecte to the internet?

Hi,
I am very new to mobile development.
I don't mind if you give me links or tutorial to read
What i would like to do is use Instant Messaging without being connected to internet all the time.
I know that is the main problem Whatsapp, Touch and a lot of other Instant Messaging programs have. I don't know if BBM has the same problem.
If, for example, i send a Instant Message to a friend and his/her internet connection is off, he/she will only know that i sent him/her a message when he/she turns on the internet connection.
Is there a way to go around that?
May be, when i send the Instant Message, it can automatically turn on the internet and let the owner of the phone know that he/she received a Instant Message.
As i said at the top, i don't mind reading a lot of tutorials
Thank you.
You just need to use Messaging apps. They'll send the messages through your 3g/4g network.

Push notification w/o internet? And extra pay for SMS? Sounds like miracle :]
If you can use some sms free gateway you (server) can send notification to the person, that there is msg waiting on the server ...
What you are asking for is not possible. Just be patient until the other person responds. Maybe their data is off for a reason....

Can't receive picture text messages

OK quick question.
My wife has a iPhone 4S (I know , but her work pays for it).
Anyhow I use Handcent and have even tried the stock text messaging app and for the life of me I can not figure out why I don't received pictures that she sends as a text message.
Any ideas?
Thanks.

Did you set Handcent as your default messaging app? You have to then make sure in the settings to allow it to receive mms.

[Completed] [Q] leaving iOS for Android, and iMessage black holes

I recently switched from an iPhone to Android. 1:1 messages are working fine, but group messages are being sent into a black hole. I'm hoping that someone here may know of a fix.
I deactivated iMessage using both the device settings and Apple's support site. I also (annoyingly) had to SMS everyone I know who has an iPhone, asking them to delete our existing conversation thread so that their phone would correctly start using SMS for our conversations.
Where I'm stuck is group messaging. It appears that anyone with an existing group conversation that I was part of is still "stuck" in iMessage -- i.e., it should have reverted to MMS for a group chat, since I'm no longer on iOS. But, the messages are still being sent as iMessage, and the senders have no idea that I'm not receiving them.
(I know that I'm not receiving them because my partner's iPhone receives these group iMessages, and I'm still listed as a recipient)
I've heard that the iMessage servers "time out" after 30-45 days and will fall back to SMS/MMS for a recipient if their iOS device hasn't revalidated iMessage in the background....Don't know if this is true. That would still be frustrating, but at least I'd know that I'll eventually start receiving messages again. Also, reaching out to everyone I've had group conversations with and asking them to delete every thread is pretty bananas -- there are so many permutations of group conversation members.
Do any other iOS --> Android switchers have any idea what I can do?
Hi,
This is an older thread, but might help,

If that's not helpful, you will need to ask for help here,
