I use Boot Repair. I don't really know what you're asking, but the other suggestions sound like you're having issues with the bootloader. https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Boot-Repair

Thanks I am looking to make a custom ROM for myself. Maybe I'll release when done

Question about reverting back to stock

Hey everyone I'm currently rooted and running cm7 and everything runs amazingly....only issue now is that my USB port only charges my phone and doesn't sync data.
So my question is...what are my options? Is it possible to download the stock program on my SD card and maybe use mobile Odin or anything?
Any ideas will help....I want to re-flash more roms but feel I should have clean flashes by going back to stock.
Thanks in advance.

Ill look into the link when I get home....as far as I know the port is bad...I've tried it on every micro USB device I have....wont even sync in my father in laws Ford Fusion with sync abilities.
Sent from my SGH-I997 using XDA
I'm not saying the port isn't bad...but this is a common problem in the forum...like I said I still have this problem with my laptop...so when I use Odin I have to use the wife's laptop. Exhaust all possibilities before giving up

(Q) ubuntu on our phone?

Now i know other phones have this i thought it might run well on our phone due to the dual core and dual channel ram

You could go to the ubuntu website and click on android then contact them and see if the will give you a copy.
Sent from my LG-P920 using XDA
Thats for handset makers.. all we need is a kernel. That supports loop and that will allow sevral apps on the market function properly
Sent from my LG-P920 using Tapatalk

Me too for someone making a kernel it shouldn't be difficult to incorporate it but I could be wrong hell we may have one and idk

I believe that Ubuntu can be ported to your phone if you have a custom ROM. I'm trying it with Cyanogenmod 7.2.0
Sweet let us know ur results please?
Sent from my LG-P920 using Tapatalk
I'm doing it right now. It shouldn't matter but I have a P925, I think the only difference is you have Sprint and I have AT&T
When I first got this phone, running ubuntu was one of the first things I did. I made a post about it in the O3D section somewhere but unfortunately im using the xda app atm and searching for my thread isnt bringing up any results.
Edit: Found the link,

Ubuntu 10.10 on LG Optimus 3D xD
Just realised the link to the files in the post is dead. I'm pretty sure I still have the rar on my pc at home though, will check and re-up them in a bit.
Edit 2: Found the file... uploading now!
Are you guys talking about native ubuntu? cause i know for sure (have done it) that it's possible to run one of those ubuntu images in the background where you start them with terminal and then use a VNC client to access your own session and then you can pretty much use it fully like a desktop, even though the usual VNC disadvantages apply ;P
Actually I have p925 running straight talk

What roms are you guys using Ubuntu on CM7.2 RC3 don't work for me

You did the batch clean up without flashing a new ROM? Nice...
Just nvflash to stock 2.3.4. It'll work, if you get errors use a different USB/USB slot.
There are guides that explain.
Look that the thread here for detailed instructions on how to flash recovery with nvflash. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1566681
If it works properly but you can't boot into recovery then run the clear-up batch and you should be good to go (assuming it works and you can boot into recovery and flash a ROM.

First off, did you NVFlash CWM or install it via ROM Manager application?
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda premium
Pretty sure he initially installed via rom manager but then flashed with nvflash. If I'm recalling correctly from an earlier thread the op made

Yeah, there's no way. Unless he did use a compy to at least nvflash, then just download a rom using mobile browser onto SD card, grab a kernel, gapps if needed, and flash as usual. Done this several times using only phone, but of course the computer MUST be used for nvflash, otherwise, OP, you'll have nothing but problems.

damn. yes I have the nvflash cwm and I'm pretty positive I have nvflash is there a way to check?

You would know if you've used nvflash because you would have downloaded a small application to your PC, taken out the battery, pressed volume up/down simultaneously, installed APX drivers, etc etc...it's a pretty unforgettable experience. There is no way of checking except remembering whether you went through such a process.

lol butthurt much? I ask a simple question and Adam trolls me so you block me? I wasn't even talking about you lmfaoooo. and I have a PC therefore I do have nvflash. I'm asking if this can be done without it
Sent from my LG-P999
Adam wasn't trolling you at all. From what i can see everything he said was in order to help you. You can't do anything until you nvflash cwm onto your phone. End of story. And you still haven't made it clear if you used nvflash to install cwm onto your phone from your PC
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda premium
pretty unforgettable experience etc? I said I'm a noob that doesn't mean talk to me like I'm a dumbass. but yes, I used nvflash to flash CWM thanks to your help good sir.
Sent from my LG-P999
I followed the steps for the KDZ updater and that failed is why I'm asking. My PC runs through all the steps flawlessly until the last one where it opens LG driver updater then says version is up to date.

Adam did not mean anything derogatory by his comments, don't misinterpret an experienced user's comment as negative feedback.
Now on to your topic, i do not believe you can upgrade your baseband without a computer. I would use lg's upgrader tool to do that. I don't know much about it as i was originally on 2.3.4 however i know theres a sticky on it somewhere. Check all the g2x forums and their sticky sections. You will definitely need a PC to do it
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda premium
I've checked all the methods posted such as the offline KDZ updater and they failed. most are XP specific and I'm running vista
Sent from my LG-P999
Yeah sorry not trolling, just trying to get an idea where you are with the phone. What exactly are you trying to do? Upgrade to 2.3.4 stock using the LG update tool? I'm thinking you should just download v10f from this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1048274
The v10f should be the 2.3.4 if I'm not mistaken, and should be flashable from cwm. Make sure to use the instructions provided on that thread. It's a stock nandroid backup, so you have to use the backup/restore menu in cwm. Not sure you have to use a PC (you might be able to do the extraction it talks about in the instructions using androzip, not sure though)...
But what is your ultimate goal by doing this? Cm7 with the right kernel works so much better.
Sent from my LG-P999
Thanks Adam I'm going to save nandroid back up on my PC since i lost mine. Probably a good idea to have a stock 2.3.4 hanging around anyway
