I have been searching for the best IM app for my phone, and I can't find a good one, with free support for Skype, a nice UI, and theme ability. If anyone is working on such an app, I will gladly test it for you. Any suggestions on what apps to use? Here are the ones that I have tried:
IM+ - no Skype support
eBuddy - nice UI, no Skype
IMO - Slow, nice UI, Skype support
Palringo - Nice UI, laggy, no Skype. (NO MORE SUPPORT FOR 3RD PARTY.)
Trillian - Inferior UI, Skype support.
Mercury - ONLY MSN.
Those are all that have I used, I may have tried more, I cannot recall though.

I use Mercury, but it only have support to MSN and Facebook if you connected the accounts. Fast, nice UI

IM+ does have Skype support
I use ebuddy. Simple and light works perfectly on Yahoo

Trillian is the most useful if you use it on other devices (I use it on my home computer, my work computer, and a tablet).
The UI might be pretty horrid, but it does what its suppose to, and I never have any lag issues with it.

I have IM+ installed right now and it has skype support. I am signed into skype currently. You can only chat, cannot make video calls.

The problem is that now you have to pay for Skype support, which is major b.s.
Sent from my SPH-M920 using Tapatalk
if you want it for free then use the official skype client, easy as that.
paying for apps is everything but "major b.s.". or do you make your living by working for free?
If you want it for free then use the “whatsapp”. You can also choose “Chatter”, “ISMS” and “Viber”.

The official app is the best choice for you want to use Skype.
For other messaging protocols you will find loads of apps.
The official app does need a lot of juice....
IMO. No contest.

Skype functionality was previously free, maybe they could have warned we were about to be forced to pay for Skype. And no, its just that people like me are money conscious. I'm not blowing money like other people.

Everyone tells me different things and It wont let me try more than 1 new client a day, smh.
i use twicca, it's my personal preference
TweetDeck works perfectly fine for me.
It all depends on preference.
I've used a lot of twitter apps.
For most features and nicest interfaces, I would say go with Touiteir Premium.
If you don't want to pay then go for Seesmic.
Personally, I like TweetDeck. I feel like like it is the fastest of all the Android twitter clients, but it lacks a lot of customization features. However, if you follow a lot of people and use lists then TweetDeck is worth the downloads because it's easy to switch between lists if they are loaded as columns.
Twicca is pretty speedy too, and not a bad alternative I just don't like the interface very much.
Do ANY have an ability to save a tweet as a draft?
Touiteir is the best
I would say Touiteur is the best Twitter Android application you can find in the Market in these days. I have been also using Twicca and Tweetdeck, but the Touiteur is still the best app. If not Touiteur I would choose Twicca.

Tweetcaster does it for me..
I'll +1 on Touiteir, even the 'free' version is better than the five or six other clients I have tried. Come to think of it, Touiteir may be the first Android app I pay for.
Agree with the people. Touiteur is absolutely the best Twitter app for android

Which uses more battery, auto receive on tweetcaster, or twitter SMS?

I would have assumed Twitter SMS uses less as, if I remember correctly, SMS is part of the signalling stack so the handset is already processing these messages.
Ok thanks. Been trying to figure this out, but google didn't work.

hockeybpr25 - First off, you may want to try ChompSMS instead of Handcent. They are both good, though. In the TW Messaging app, turn off "Auto-retrieve" and "Notifications".

blarrick - +1 on SwiftKey X! Been using SwiftKey ever since they started the beta a couple of years ago. [email protected] near telepathic, it's scary!
Regarding the Dolphin HD Browser, I used to <3 it a lot, but I've moved on now to the Miren Browser. Miren is free, and it seems like their UI is much better thought-out. I seem to get stuff done easier in it. You should give it a shot!

Hey, rand4ll - I was curious about Weather Bug Elite. Does it support a scrollable widget for multiple cities? I'm really looking like crazy for a weather app that supports a scrollable widget. The only ones I know about are wrapped in various manufacturer's UI (like HTC Sense and MotoBlur).
Now, on to my apps:
Agenda Widget, Awesome Drop, Barnacle Wifi Tether, Beautiful Widgets, Bloat Freezer, Calendar Snooze, ChompSMS, EasyTether, FlightTrack Pro, Happy Hours, KeePassDroid (KeePass is on everything I own with a CPU), Miren Browser, Mr. Number Caller ID, MyBackup Pro, Note Everything Pro, Our Groceries, PhoneMyPC, Plume, Pure Messenger, RealCalc, ROM Manager, Root Explorer, Remote Notifier, Sipdroid, Shazam, StayAwake, SwiftKey X, TapaTalk Pro, Team Black Hat, TripIt, WinAmp, and uTorrent Remote.
Whew.
Cheers!

You could also just do this
1) Open Handcent
2) Hit the menu button
3) Select Settings
4) Application settings
5) Default Messaging Application.
6) All(SMS & MMS)
Both work though
OK, I've tried all the big ones, go contacts ex, dialer one, and TouchPal Dialer. Each one seems to have a unique feature or coolness to it, mostly go contacts or TouchPal, but they seem to be lacking or be incomplete... For example when using go and trying to edit a contact... You can't join multiple contacts together... If i was going to use a third party dialer I would want to freeze at the least the stock... With a third party sms app, i use handcent, i don't lose any functionality save for maybe the green dot.. But who uses that? Haha, so what in curious is, is out of all the dialers what is everyone's personal recommendations?

I'm still looking too.
My dialer has to be efficient to work with a large contact list (good search). I don't need integration with anything else than Google Contacts (no Facebook, etc). But I'l like some management tools, like 'call back tomorrow' with alarm, integration with a todo list, etc.

Well it seems that either some apps lack any editing or joining capabilities... Others seem to lack integration with certain things... Its small things but things that I as a whole always use... Its the one up the HTC sense launcher/dialer had compared to stock android... Sigh

Fast Pro has too many bugs
Flipster is half ass, doesn't show everything, SLOW
Friendcaster Pro wants to show me everyones games more than statuses and such.

Official Facebook app is fine on a modern device. It is quite big (~20MB) and uses a big chunk of RAM (~45-50MB) so on older devices, it can be quite painful to run. Simply go to facebook.com in your mobile browser, you get the same interface.
Flipster is the best of the alternatives, but the problem with the alternatives is that 1) if you post from it (and this is anything but the website or the official app), Facebook doesn't share your status with all your friends. It's posted to your Timeline, but almost nobody will see it. And 2) it won't show you all your friends' statuses and photos. Their game activity will always show up, though, as well as anything sponsored.
Most likely the fastest is TweetDeck, or maybe TweakDeck (the former, only... tweaked). The interface looks like straight up ass, but it's fast, even on crappy phones. Tested and verified on Samsung Acclaim (800MHz ARMv6, 160MB RAM, ~20MB app install space, Froyo).
Tried "Scope"? It's an all-in-one social app.

Use Greenify to hibernate your Facebook app when you are using it.
I use Friendcaster Pro. Mainly because it's linked to Tweetcaster. I like sharing tweets between the two. The only thing I don't like is some friends posts don't come through. I have to go to browser to see everything. Even though stupid notifications like Candy Crush can't be blocked.
Friendcaster Pro
vk.com
Well, originally i'm russian so i assume it's obvious that i would use vk.com much more that fb. First of all cuz fb gives NSA full access to each person's personal info.
