I'm seeing all these posts about updated radios and s-off, but I really am not following, because I feel like I am jumping into a discussion midconvo and so I am lost on a couple of things.
My phone says 1.64 not 1.5x or whatever. How do I get it to 1.7x?
To my knowledge, I cannot flash this update via CWM, I need stock recovery, so basically I need to revert my phone back to stock recovery? Once I revert it to stock recovery, do I flash the update via recovery or through an adb push?
Hopefully i'm making sense, but if im not, then at least you know how clueless I am, and would be able to guide me.
I really appreciate any and all help! Thanks everyone!

1.7x is the rom base that is used which includes an updated radio, for example TMO US roms have a 1.58 base as the OTA has not come out yet. In europe the OTA came out for 1.78 base with updated radios. If you follow the guide i link below you can get updated to the latest radio, and can have more confidence that you are on the latest radio. That being said you can still run the same radio that you currently have on new roms with a 1.7x base but your radio wont be the most updated.
here is a great post from the other thread with exact instructions

Alright, so I've had an htc sensation running on leedroid 3.10 for quite some time now. Recently it started to restart randomly, so I decided to upgrade my rom. So then I attempted to install insertcoin ICS, but I needed a new radio. So I chose one figuring it would work and now my device doesn't connect to internet or even my data. Whenever I try to install a different radio now to attampt fixing it, it says I have the wrong CID! I NEED my phone to work soon because i have a lot of important things to do that involve it!! Thanks for all help and please respond soon! FYI it says my radio is 10.11.9007.06_M2. Should I maybe reflash the hboot?
EDIT: And in case you're wondering, I've been searching for the solution for hours. I've never been more afraid of anything not working than this phone, and I can't afford a new phone, so please help!
First, you need to be superCid in order to install any radio without issue, Have a look in this post, Step 4
After that, you need to install corresponding firmware before flashing ICS rom. read this Thread

Hi,
10.11.9007.06_M2 is a few steps backwards/downwards on the radio ladder.
You can see the order HERE
What is your actual plan?
Do you want ICS?
If you want ICS ,you either need Super CID,or look at THIS POST
Right now there are 2 ICS bases:
3.12.....Sense 3.5
3.24.....Sense 3.6
When you install the appropriate firmware for either ROM,it will have the new radio inside the PG58IMG.zip
A good thread to follow is HERE
If you are not confident about upgrading to ICS,you could just flash the radio:
10.58.9035.00U_10.15.9035.02_2
and carry on with GingerBread.
Hey guys,
There's a discussion going on one of the CleanROM threads, and since I'm still new to the Android world, I wanted to ask you guys what your experience was.
I flashed directly to the 1.85-based CleanROMs without ever updating via the 1.85 RUU, once the CleanROMs had been updated to allow this. Was this a mistake? Would it have made more sense to update to the official 1.85 RUU before flashing the ROM?
I'm trying to figure out if it's worth my time to go ahead and do that now, or if I should just wait for the next RUU leak and the next ROMs built around that base?
I'm thinking that if it isn't broke, I shouldn't fix it, but another part of me wants to make sure all my firmware is as up-to-date as possible, so I'd appreciate any feedback you guys could offer.
Thanks!

I answered this in the ROM thread but I'll put it here in case anyone else is wondering.
Way way back (a month ago) to install a ROM you had to be on the base the ROM was based on. The reason for this is it was thought at the time that we couldn't flash boot.img, which is the kernel from recovery, beacuse we didn't have S-off. It has since been discovered that we can indeed flash boot.img from recovery, so now ROMS include it.
When you flash a ROM unless the dev says otherwise, you have to manually wipe /data with a factory wipe in recovery.
The reason for this I imagine is for people doing incremental upgrades between versions won't have to set everything up again since the Dev didn't write their install script to wipe /data.
The installer script takes care of everything else /system gets formatted, kernel gets installed and the ROM gets put on the phone.
The build version you see in /about/firmware is derived from whatever the Dev put in Build.prop, it's just a text string.
When you install a ROM there shouldn't be any remnants of your previous ROM except the Radio.
Hey all, I'm sorry if this seems an odd question, but I'm still trying to get my head wrapped around the process of how the One S gets different features flashed to the device.
I don't have my One S yet (Hopefully it'll arrive later today, 7/27) but I wanted to be prepared when it arrives.
It seems the links are broken in this post and it's stating that this thread is outdated.
If I'm going to flash a new ROM on the device, are the radios generally included in that ROM already? I see that you often times need to manually flash BOOT.IMG on a per-ROM basis due to not having s-off? I'm comfortable with all of that, I just want to make sure that I'm not missing anything, and unfortunately it seems as though there is little information in some of the threads on XDA that clearly answer my question.
Call it a personality defect, I just like to 100% understand something in every possible way before being able to attempt it. Unfortunately when I don't have the device in front of me, it prevents me from being able to do that, but that's what forums are for, right?
Cheers all, I appreciate anyone taking the time to answer my question.

The latest radio with android 4.0.4 rom is said to be much better in terms of performace of wifi and cellular data signal then all previous versions, unfortunately buying a phone at this stage means that you probably will have a later hboot version 1.13 and this hboot doesnt allow flashing radio from recovery like the previous versions. You can find out more info about the radio in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1781033
To answer your other question the radio has to be flashed separately from the ROM. Hopefully your phone comes with a lower hboot so flashing wont be a problem, make sure you dont accept the ota update out of the box like i did so u dont accidently get an upgraded hboot. Makes life more diificult ;p.
Its a used phone and is already running CM9, so I'm hoping its the older boot. I already made sure it was the S4, but I just realized that the unlocked phones don't support TMOUS bands, so I'm a bit screwed at the moment.
I don't know what the next step is for me, so I may be forced to move to Straight Talk until I can get another 100% compatible TMOUS phone. I saw it has 2100 HSPA radio frequencies so I had assumed it would work on TMOUS. Needless to say I feel pretty stupid now.
Thanks again for the links, they were exactly what I was looking for!

If you want to get this new radio, the only way to do it at this moment is to change to SuperCID and follow the steps from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1781033
Basically I installed ARHD the latest one and what I didnt realise is that it updates the radio to the automatically, probably great for some people but for me its kinda messed up my texting as now texts doing send, say failed or are never delivered to the other party... so, I was wondering if anybody either had
the original Vodafone UK radio that I could flash
or if anybody could extract it from the latest ics RRU found here
http://www.filefactory.com/file/5tu...0U_11.23.3504.07_M2_release_251541_signed.exe
I am currently using cm10, with the latest FW
Radio I have 11.76A.3504.00P_11.24A.3504.31_M
radio i would like 11.69A.3504.00U_11.23.3504.07_M2
Thanks guys hopefully you will save my bacon!

Hi,
Installing the ARHD ROM does NOT install a radio.
Flashing the firmware DOES.
I am assuming you are s-off.
So,look HERE
Select the radio you want, and flash it.
Make sure you read the thread carefully, and follow the instructions to the letter.
Thank you for the reply,
what I did, was got the Vodafone ICS RUU and extracted the radio from %temp%
I then downloaded the radio from the ARHD thread replced its radio.img with mine from the Vodafone RUU ran the install via ADB and it seems to have worked (it hasnt bricked my device anyway) i will see in the long run if it has done the trick.
Here is a thread with radio and firmware from the ICS RUU: [RADIO] [FIRMWARE] ICS firmware and radio from WWE RUU. Also there are a threads with radios here and there. But where can i get older firmwares than the one from ICS RUU thread?
Offtopic: I flashed this firmware with radio (because i wanted the newest, and i had the oldest after downgrading to get S-OFF... i expect i'll get some hatred from the forum for flashing radio without strong reason). It was said in thread that it contains touchscreen drivers. I also flashed cyanogen 10.1 rom. The thing is I feel scrolling and especialy it's "kinetics" are weird, compared to stock rom i had before (i have problems controlling scrolling speed, it's either too slow or too fast). Sadly, i can't remember had it changed after i flashed cyanogen or this new firmware, therefore can't tell the reason. I was wondering what if i had to downgrade firmware - i don't know where to get it. Or maybe i should start a thread about scrolling issue?
and i had the oldest after downgrading to get S-OFF

confused with that line.
what is your phone bootloader status right now? s-on s-off
idk if this one is older or, refer to juggies post here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=43692733&postcount=1814
You can try extracting it from ruus, that's what someone did (from the Ics ruu) in that thread you got it from. But I doubt the extra firmware being upgraded is your problem anyway, haven't heard of anyone else with such issues.
CyanogenMod does feel different scrolling etc. than sense roms, maybe you just have to get used to it
