If you're worried about battery life, don't use an ics rom. Never got through a full day without swapping batteries while i was on ics.

thanks....but 8-10 hours is good for me.

Personally I like the Owain's ICS, and I get over a day on a charge with it.

Make sure you check what baseband the phone is using... if its the new march 2012 baseband you can only run 2 roms...
my opinion is make sure its the new baseband because it fixes a the gps issues and signal issues...then run the stock-rooted rom from kwes or burom... you can add in the new faux 14b2 kernal and it will be rock solid stable with good battery life...

Best Rom to run without issues of stock G2X

Hi, I don't own a G2X but my friends do. Their both having data connectivity issues and random rebooting. One has leaked gingerbread rom and one has stock rom. I've given them new sim cards but still same problem. Can anyone recommend a good stable-ish Rom that can take care of these issues? I was looking at the Eagleblood 2.3.4 Rom any feedback?
Thanks for the help!

I'm having great results with the Ultimate G2X 1.0 rom. Its fast/snappy/responsive, very stable, everything works, great theme.
I've tried the CM7 nightlies and they're pretty darn good, but still enoight quirks that I'll stick with Ultimate for now as my main rom.
Here's a link to the Ultimate thread

EB 1.0.4 with Faux's Kernel
EB 1.0.5 with faux kernel, it's friggen awesome!
I will also chime in for EB 1.05 (the froyo based rom) with faux's kernal. I tried out Ultimate 1.0 on my phone, but I was getting a bunch of FC's and "zombie widgets." I doubt it was a problem with the rom itself...it seems to be an awesome rom. But I run SPB Shell 3D, and I think maybe there was some kind of incompatibility with the theming. I don't know...but I tried and tried, and finally just gave up and went back to the EB because...well, it simply works. I haven't had a single problem with it.

I want to try that out, but I think you have to flash other stuff with that as well? Like gapps? Little confusing for me since I'm pretty much a newb at this stuff
if youre looking for stability i use fauxs oc stock kernel with stock rom. all other roms at this point cause different issues. mainly games not working such as nova saying wrong version or not updating for me. stock wouldn't be my choice for looks but everything seems to work and OC kernel with Go Launcher EX and its new app drawer animations make it pretty cool.
p.s. everytime i try a rom then go back to stock i get a bunch of text messages that for some reason always never get recieved when using other roms as well.
I was new to this stuff like u about a week ago. I really like eaglesblood and you probably wont need a kernel. Eaglesblood fixed the issues I had. Oh BTW I'm using 1.0.5 if u were wondering

All of the 2.3.x roms have issues, not the developers fault, it is because the roms are based off a leaked early GB rom and are missing some of the drivers/features.
To me working BT and GPS are necessary features in a "best" rom, so I look to the froyo based roms, currently my every day rom is team Shockwave's Dark Sinister Rom.
If BT & GPS are not important, then Eagleblood Rom with Faux's OC Kernal is relatively issue free.

[Q] Improvement in GPS with the GB rom, but not baseband?

This question is towards those who have used xboarder56 or doniqcc roms, which doesn't update the baseband.
Have you noticed any improvements in GPS? Battery?
Are you sure they didn't include the be baseband? I'm on xboarders now.. Whats the old base band and whats the new.ill check my settings info
old baseband should say Mar 27 the new one which i belive the only way to get it right now is to use the LG updater is July 15. I don't think there is away to flash just the baseband yet. Don't quote me but i am pretty sure if you want the new baseband you will have to update using the LG updater.

I got the update through the lg updater and I can tell you that is instant lock.

In fact I was just about to reflash my Stock Froyo backup as I was getting better GPS and Battery with former pre-upgrade arrangement. Granted the udpate runs very smooth, but if it does not improve my battery life I will just as soon return to Froyo and wait for the official OTA.
With that said, if there was a way to flash the baseband, is the thinking that this will improve batery and GPS.
I can tell you the Battery life on this GB release is WAY better than any other leaked/CM7 rom. I can easily squeeze more than a day out of this GB if i configure things differently. GPS on the other hand is like 2/3secs or instant lock. ALL other roms and Froyo i can never get a lock. Takes about 2-3mins if lucky and i kid you not.

[Q] ICS 4.0.4 Rogers... WHY DID I UPGRATE???

Hi guys,
I am a total n00b here and I pretty much upgraded my i727r last month when Rogers released the official version. I was getting roughly 12-14hr of battery life at when I was using 2.3.5/6 (I dont remember the version/official Rogers). Ever since I upgraded I am getting 6hr of battery life which in my opinion is unacceptable, I simply cannot function with this phone. So my questions is the following is there a way for me to roll back?
I was reading this thread and it doesnt mention if this is for Gingerbread or ICS.
THE ODIN THREAD :: Return to stock, fix soft brick :: 11/13: Rogers TAR!
I am wondering if I do decide to keep ICS and load some custom roms for example:
[ROM] SKYICS 4.2E-17(ULCE2) 6/18/12--- Amazing battery.CRT OFF!!!!!
It mentions that my phone must be rooted but ever since I upgraded to ICS it removed my root I initially did. I dont see how to root ICS version of the i727r everything I see is for gingerbread. Could someone also help me find that link or give me a step by step how to root my i727r running ICS.
Thank you,
Go with Sky ... I was getting 25 hours on light use.
First off, check your installed programs. There are MANY out there that with ICS installed automatically turn on your GPS. This would be a prime example of why your getting such bad battery life.
Secondly make sure of your OS version. Be that 4.0.3 or 4.0.4 or what ever it is. You may need to re odin the install.
I would say do a factory reset and reflash via keys of you don't want to flash cmw and run an ics ROM.
Went back to stock cause I thought I was having hard ware issues and was able to get much better battery life then you.
Decided on sky ics for MHL support as aokp and CM9 do not support and have found this ROM to have the best battery life.
Also find sky ics to be just as good if not better then when I was running GB (mhx 3.1 final)... No turning back now
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727R running SKY-ICS 4.2F-6
If you dont like tinkering with CM9/AOKP I found that SkyICS was pretty good for battery use.

This is what I wrote about battery life on another thread. :good:
i think that is not the reason, i got 35+ hours every charge cycle . i am on GB 2.36 nexus mod and with faux123 kernel. that is the best battery life kernel i have found .

I would install "OS Monitor" and try to find out what is draining all your battery. ICS has better battery life. It is the the OS, it is something with one of your apps that's not playing nice with ICS. You might even have the same problem with Gingerbread if you return to it because the app just doesn't work well on the Skyrocket.
I just found an interesting one today with OS monitor. Homerun Battle 2...leeches juice from my Skyrocket every 2 seconds. Had to remove it.
Thanks for the help guys,
I think I am going to give SKYICS a try. Especially since I have my SG2 from Bell here at work so if I brick my phone (knock on wood) I will have a backup phone just in case.
The only thing I am wondering is how do I root my phone, most guides are considering I am on Gingerbread and not ICS.
My goal is to follow the following instructions:
[ROM] SKYICS 4.2E-17(ULCE2) 6/18/12--- Amazing battery.CRT OFF!!!!!
Once again guys thanks for the help,
install CM9 man, it's incredible. Follow these instructions but instead of using their Alpha ROM use the nightly in the second link...

[Q] What would you use in place of a CM ROM?

So I bought a tablet and am going to be using it for most things.Android and can let my G2x go back to being a full fledged phone. I really miss being able to use Bluetooth.
So for the ROM I need BT calling to work as well as WIfi Calling
I don't want to go as far as stock, possibly rooted stock, Was wondering what non-CM ROM you would choose any why? I've always used CM ROMs. Not sure what to use now.
Yes, this is a personal opinion question.

My guess is, that you flashed to the latest Baseband. You could always revert back to the Jul 15, 2011 Baseband via the KDZ method. I have found that the CM GB ROM's are more polished and feature-rich than any of the stock ROMS that exist.
If going back to Stock is your only recourse, I believe there are 2 modified Stock ROM's based on the new Baseband that you will want to take a look at. One is by KWES and the other is by BURU (I believe). I am most positive KWES has one out there though. Have a look in the DEV section and make sure you're looking for 2.3.4 ROM's. As far as Kernels for said ROM's, I think you're looking at using stock or some of FAUX's early .9 kernels (v0.13 I believe).

Yeah pretty much what he said. The most stable and reliable would be any modded stock ROM by kwes or myself.
I am getting ready to flash them today. Just picking out correct kernel's.

Running buru now. I'll run it for a 48hr test drive, than kewes and make a pick.
I just don't wanna mess with the entire kdz to flash to a lower BB to run CM7 with BT, something tells me I'm gonna miss CM7 in the long run. lol

Hah I know what you mean .
I would suggest to also stick with stock kernel if you sun into any problems. They actually did a decent job on it.
Pretty pleased so far. With ADW launcher and Magic Locker I've gained into ths stock ROM what I used most in CM7. Apps handle a lot of those things for me. SD Booster and Swapper as well.
I am using faux 014b2 kernel with your ROM buru. Simply fast. Happy so far. Thank you!

Couple of questions, new member and user of atrix 2

Hi guys, im new in the site as ive bought an atrix 2 yesterday, and i have a few queries regarding the ics update. I havent updated to ics yet.
1) should i download the 10 free ea games before updating or after?
2) how do i use a music file from the sd card as a ringtone?
Welcome Night Wing!
First I would recommend updating to ICS before installing any other apps.
Second, in whatever music app you use, long press on a song and you should get an option to select it as your ringtone.
Welcome to the club. Be sure to read all the stickies mate!
Or you can drop it in the Ringtones folder on your sdcard... reboot, and you should see it in the ringtones selection in Settings.
You might have to trim it down if it's a big audio file.. not sure
Sent from my phone's mind
I updated to ICS (OTA) the day it was released and it was nothing but trouble for me (I have a thread about it). After about a month of dealing with issues AT&T sent me a replacement phone. It's gingerbread and I'm leaving it that way.
That is my personal experience though, I'm sure there are others that have had success or I wouldn't think the update would still be available. If you do update, I'd be very curious to hear about your results.

I wanted to check out cm10 but it still has too many bugs. Other option is Scv7 now. Which 1 is recommended (if other good roms which are stable without bugs, do mention) ?
