since i am not yet allowed to post in the developer section of the xda-developers forum, i wanted to ask my question here. since one of the first builds of cyanogenmod for the galaxy ace appeared, i had installed it.
the installation went fine, but seeing as though the proximity meter did not work, wifi had some problems, and multiple apps were randomly crashing from time to time, i was forced to fall back to the stock android.
since then a couple of new nightlies came out for this phone (one of them is rather recently released). the official thread is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1543521 .
what i wanted to ask is if there is anyone out there that tried the latest nightly build, to confirm the problems i named above are all solved.
the second question i had is, if i have a galaxy ace with baseband version xwks2, can i just flash a rom with baseband ks9 on it for example?
any help would be greatly appreciated, and i would like to apologise i could not leave a comment in an existing thread.
go to cwr and wipe date, wipe cache again, it's may have some wrong when you install this rom ?
but i think cm7 on galaxy ace is not work well, you can try myth, i thinks it's best rom for galaxy ace
sorry for my bad Eng
will do
thanks a lot there nicknayemclone ,
i have alreadyy tried wiping the cache and dalvik and everything, but the problem keeps occuring. the annoying thing is, if i use the stock android i also have slight lags(same thing when i just bought it). i have heard about myth, but i would like my rom to be as close to vanilla android 2.3 as i can get . myth seems like its to hard on my phone to run as smooth as cyanogenmod

I was trying to ask this in the correct section and even though I now have 10 posts it still wont let me. Anyway, I'm just looking for information on flashing the CM7 nightlies to an AT&T S2 devices. The current updates if placed on the root of the SD card as update.zip say that a compatible device was not found. Any way to work around this? Are the nightlies even compatible?
This thread can be deleted actually, I found my answer.

First of all please accept my apologies if I am posting in the incorrect site location - this isn't the most user friendly site I've ever come across, but it is definately helpful to to get help from you friendly and helpful people!
I've just purchased a Galaxy Note 2 (N7105 Vodafone Australia). I've managed to unlock, root and install TWRP perfectly.
My problem is that I've tried three different custom roms (and made donations to say thanks) in the last few days and none of them seem to work properly with the s pen. The three roms I've tried are Cyanogen, Android Revolution and Omega (in that order). All three of these roms seem great, until I take out the s pen....
The only one of these three roms that will even recognise when the pen touches the screen is Cyanogen (which is the only of the three roms that don't come with the samsung s pen apps). Both Android Revolution and Omega came with the s pen apps pre-installed, but don't seem to work with the s pen at all?? Am I doing something wrong? Are there s pen drivers or something that I need to install? Omega is currently installed and it does vibrate and make a noise when I remove the pen from the dock, but does nothing when the pen touches the screen.
Another thing to note before anyone tries installing these roms on this device is that, after installing Android Revolution or Omega, the phone has no reception and says sim isn't installed. I managed to correct this on Android Revolution by installing the modem driver on top of the rom - this took me a day or two to figure out it was the issue and how to fix! But it doesn't seem to fix the problem with Omega rom, which is my favourite (apart from the problems listed).
I know its a pretty new phone and therefore there aren't many tried and tested roms, but the three I've tried are pretty common so I was expecting more information about them online than what I've found. Any assistance or advice in relation to getting the s pen to function and the phone to recognise the sim card on Omega v13 with my N7105 would be greatly appreciated. If I can't fix this pretty quickly I'm going back to stock rom until there's more info out there about roms that work with the N7105.
thanks
No mistake posting here but since note 2 has a dedicated forum, you should ask it there.

Hey not sure if you found what you were looking for over in the Note II forum or not but it sounds to me like you are flashing the wrong ROM. I had similar issues with the SIM not being recognized on my Note II. I was trying the same ROMs you mentioned. Make sure the ROM you are flashing is for the exact model phone you have. Also, some ROMs will require you to flash the correct radio for your carrier.
Definitely head over to the Note II forum to find more specific information but keep those things in mind! Hope this helps!

Thanks. Somebody PM'd me with a link to a few Note 2 roms - but the forum won't let me post it because I'm too new of a member. If anyone needs it just PM me.
I'm trying Aroma, but am now havings issues with TWRP seeing the zip file... I'm still trying - currently copying the zip to the TWRP folder on the sd card because I've found some forums about TWRP reading zips from internal storage. I've also had issues with Clockworkmod on this Note 2, so would rather not have to go back to it. Clockworkmod worked well for me for years on my old trusty HTC Desire HD, but really made a mess of the Note 2... I've only had this phone 8 days and had sooo many issues with just trying to get a custom rom running!! Even if this works, its only Android 4.1.2 - Whereas I've got 4.2.1 running smooth as butter on a two year old HTC
hmmm

Cool deal. I hope you get it worked out. That is strange that Clockwordmod is giving you issues. That is what I use and it has treated me well. Maybe it has to do with the difference in hardware since I have the US AT&T version? Good luck!
Hey all,
I've looked through threads here and I'm just overwhelmed. I had my S3 rooted on 4.1.2 but Verizon kept coming up with these updates that I could either defer for 5 days or...update. When I chose update, it took me back to TeamWin. So I redid a fresh format from the TeamWin screen (I really don't mind rebuilding my phone and contacts) and I was able to update to 4.2.2 after that but but I'm still getting that Verizon update warning.
First of all, how do re-root my phone with 4.2.2? I thought TeamWin would disappear but it didn't. So I went back to that screen and went to Download. Now I'm on a screen with the Android robot that says "Downhloading... Do not turn off target !!"
I'm not sure what it's downloading.
I'm sorry if this is in the wrong section. I would be fine with a moderating moving it.
Thanks a lot!
First, this is T-Mobiles forum, you want Verizons.
Second, if twrp is still installed all you need to do is flash the SuperSU or superuser zip you can find eith a quick search.
Third, that is download mode. Only for use with Odin.
Fourth, considering you don't know these things, I suggest you read up on some of the many guides you can find here on xda.

I highly suggest you do quite a bit of reading before you start messing with rooting and flashing roms. You could very easily brick your phone if you don't know what you're doing or if you flash a file that isn't meant for your phone.

Also it is VERY important you be in the correct device forum. There are 5 S3 forums.

Verizon does not have an official 4.2.2. We are still on 4.1.2 MF1 as the official. If you have 4.2.2 it is from a rom you have flashed.

Only the S4 have Touchwiz 4.2.2 so we will assume that you are talking about AOSP roms as they are 4.2.2. Please be clear in your post so we can help you. Now to teach you about download mode it's there for you to flash stock Touchwiz back to your device via a software called Odin. Now what you just ask about (download mode) you could have Google searched it yourself and got your answers faster.
I have a galaxy note 2 (SPRINT)
My details are
SPH-L900 GALAXY NOTE 2 (SPRINT)
Android version 4.3.1
cyanogenmod version 10.2-20131214 snapshot
kernal version 3.0.64-CMg9d16c8a
I am simply trying to learn where to go from here. I tried getting a new rom from room manager premium but it always says download error. I was trying to get 10.2 rc2 stable. But none of the other work either. I think I might need a new kernal but am lost on which one is right for me. Any help is appreciated. So basically I'll take the Eli5
Approach and go from there. How to get the right roms for me, kernels etc.? Thanks guys
Hi!
Easy, here's the forum section for your device.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-2-sprint
Now you need to go through the development section, and original development section. Read about the ROMs and kernels in the opening posts. See what appeals to you...and flash away!
Do a nandroid backup in recovery first...in case you need to restore.
And read the flashing instructions very carefully.
Good luck!! ?
I recently tried to install CyanogenMod 12 on my Galaxy S5.
Being a noob at flashing, and that other stuff, I looked for online tutorials and followed them.
Everything went smooth, but as soon as I tried to set up my new profile.
Google apps kept crashing over and over again, preventing me from even advancing, and making the phone unusable.
For those of you who are well known with this stuff, pls help
Hi!
I would think you maybe have installed the wrong GAPPS package for your CM version. Read the opening post of the thread you got your rom from very carefully.
If that doesn't help, you can ask for help in this dedicated help thread for your device...

Good luck!
