10/11 - Market release 2.2
One of the first things I needed to do once I got my HTC One was fix the dropbox app. The bright white is *blinding*. I've been inverting dropbox versions for a while, and thought I'd contribute to this section, since Dropbox is an integral part of this device. So, here's a version with some ICS flavor.
What's different?
• Inverted
• Themed 99% of pngs, (subtly) to get to the ICS Blue color, as well as xml tweaks.
• Special intro screens that hopefully don't get me sued.
• Should look great on ALL ICS ROMs and usually GB (depending on existing theme)
• Looks awesome on ICS Tablets too.
Recommended installation:
1. Try to install normally by just running the apk.
2. If that doesn't work, I recommend:
• Use Titanium Backup
• Backup current dropbox
• Uninstall current dropbox (the /data app, *NOT* the system apps)
• Install this themed version normally (it's signed)
• Restore data only in Titanium (optional)
• Impress the ladies
NOTE: You *might* have to reenter your Dropbox credentials, resync dropbox files that were previously stored on your sdcard.

I've done them in the past, but for stock android. I'm good with the standalone apps, but the HTC-integrated ones are tricky so far.
I'm still figuring out the sense, but I'm studying he'stheone's work closely
I do have a Google Voice mod tho that matches this theme.
(which is the only messaging app I really use).

I think this is a common issue with the ROMs out right now (or with stock). I haven't been able to get that to work either. .. but think it's an issue on HTC's end.

Yes, both ways and get the message application not installed.
Fixed: had to reboot device after installing app.

I can't install it either, Get the message App Not Installed. I've tried without removing updates, and with removing updates from the stock Dropbox.

hmm. that's not good.
Have you tried uninstalling with Titanium Backup, rebooting, and then installing?
Keep me updated and I can help u troubleshoot.

Aw cool man. I have installed it on unrooted devices before. If u do decide to try, just try restarting after uninstalling the original. The themed version is signed, so root is not required.
Application not Installed

- Uninstalling all updates and then installing

I cannot uninstall the apk as it is a system app so don't understand the reference to the /data/ app.....??
Uninstalling updates won't work. It does need to be removed first. I'm not sure if leedroid's setup is different (looking at your sig), but there should be 2 apks in your system/app/ folder that have to do with dropbox -- *don't touch those*
only remove the one in the data/app folder
Titanium backup is preferred, as you can search for 'dropbox' in 'data' apps (if it's red, it's a system app).
Otherwise, you could probably go through regular Settings > apps > all > dropbox. Clear data, and see if it lets you uninstall through there first.
Then restart and install the apk in the OP.
The modded apk installs to /data/app , so if it sees one there, you'll get the error message you noted above.

(The only minor criticism I have is that I think the original blue/white Dropbox icon in the app drawer looks better than the inverted blue/black one)!
A few days ago when I posted above I had not rooted, so I was unable to access the /data/app folder.
CWM, Rooting, Leedroid and the new radio was all done after I couldn't get this version of dropbox to install!
Dropbox recently updated itself to v2.1.4 which has restored it to stock colours!

That will take a little time, since in both apps combined there are more then 100 xml`s to edit (where the majority of work came from travp anyway, see credits) and I`m out traveling atm. But updates aren´t major, so you can still use the current inverted versions.

So I tried that. As the stock MMS app is an update to the system app, disabling the system Messaging app also means the stock app is disabled.
It is really weird that the app should be replaced on reboot.... Is no-one else having this problem?
Would it be possible to get the stock ICS Browser?

-It's been rooted, of course (ChainsDD's version of Superuser)
-I've added Busybox and Bash
-Removed: Peep, Flash Lite, Flickr, FriendStream, Facebook, Facebook Chat, HTC Feedback, HTC Recommends, HTC Hub and all associated widgets
-Tinfoil for Facebook replaces the official and HTC Facebook apps, this is a more lightweight and privacy aware version of Facebook which doesn't run in the background all the time or download all your contacts
-ASTRO file browser is now also included
-Ad blocking host files are built right in, no need for AdFree or AdAway
-Zipaligning for optimisation, this means apps should use less RAM
-Beats Audio has been added for heavy bass awesomeness
-Sense 4 wallpaper
-ICS font
-ICS clock widget
-Play Store has replaced the outdated Market apk
-Disabled boot sounds (it really is now quietly brilliant)

What's working?
Everything, it's built on the stock ROM! The Facebook button obviously doesn't do anything anymore but there shouldn't be any extra issues in the OS.
How do I install it?
Boot into recovery, wipe your data, cache, and Dalvik cache, then flash the ROM and reboot the phone. Easy!
If you're updating from a previous version of this ROM, installing without wiping data should be fine. If, however, you happen to experience issues after doing so, try wiping your data before reporting anything.
If you're coming from a stock ROM or another custom ROM based on stock, you can try flashing without wiping your data, but apps might still cause issues for you. Don't report issues if you've flashed from another ROM without wiping your data.
To use Apps2SD, you can download the app Link2SD from the Play Store. Due to some kernel issues, you must set the second partition as ext2 rather than ext4 as a workaround to make sure the app is working correctly (thanks to hitanshu for figuring this one out!)

If you have any suggestions for future additions please tell me! I can't promise anything but I'll try to be the best of my ability to make it happen! I already have plans to make this more of a worthwhile download so watch this space!

I will keep the current version up and you can continue to use it - since HTC doesn't update the ChaCha anymore you won't miss out on anything by doing so. However, I will not provide new features for this ROM anymore as I have sold my ChaCha. I am going to be working on a new project on a new phone soon though so watch out for it!

No, it does not come with tun.ko. If you already have it on your phone now, you can copy the apk to your memory card and install it on this ROM before you connect to the internet if you need all your browsing to go through VPN though. It's already rooted so it should work, I can't guarantee compatibility (I've not tested that app on this ROM myself) but if it works on stock I see no reason why it won't work on Stock Plus.

Make sure you copy over a file browser too if you need to install the app before connection to the net, I've not built one into the ROM yet (I will do so for the next release though).

I can't promise that my ROM will work correctly without wiping data then, MIUI and HTC use different bases. Feel free to try it anyway but be aware it may cause instability. Or you can install the ROM as normal (wipe your data and caches) then Bluetooth the apk to your phone to bypass the Market and lack of file browser afterwards, that works.

I won't be adding FriendStream back into this ROM. However, you can extract it from a normal stock ROM and add it to this one yourself if you like. Just go to /system/apps/ in the RUU, get the FriendStream apks, then copy them over to the same directory in my ROM (without extracting), or you can just install the apks manually after you install my ROM.

I didn't add the modded Market because the responses to the original thread for the mod basically said it was useless. The latest official version of the Market is in this ROM though

Will add a tutorial on how to add your own apks later. You can do it yourself if you are comfortable with aroma installer.
Include in the tutorial how to remove apps too.

great idea i`m searching something like mass apk installer, guess this will do the job
i`ve wanted to just pack apks in zip and flash it, but since i`m programming noob, i`m not able to do it...

There seems to be a touch screen issue with the Aroma installer. The calibration seems way out.
I know that the early Aroma packages had a built in touch screen calibrator, but alas I cannot find one here.

I'm terribly sorry about that. The calibration I've given is for my Desire Z. Would someone be interested in obtaining the calibration data for your HTC Desire HD?
Replace the aroma-config in this directory /META-INF/com/google/android/aroma-config with the file i've attached.
When you flash the pack with this file you will be prompted to calibrate your touchscreen. Please follow the instructions. After that you will get a result which will look like this calibrate("1.9235","27","1.1262","34","yes"); . of course with different values.
Note: Remove the .txt extension to the attached file before you place it in the pack.

Is there any way to install those files thru recovery which are backed up by TB without restoring application one by one? That i could just flash a single zip and all the apps which i had in previous rom is installed with their data?

Search for app2zip on the market. But restoring all app data onto a new rom is a bad idea. You are bound to face issues which the OP of your rom might not be able to trace and fix(actually he is not liable to fix issues you create).

Ok the APK has finally been released to the public. You can download it from the above link or from the attachment below.
Instructions for installation: (As listed on the above site, posting it here for your convenience )
Note: This APK should work on Android 4.0+. You do need to be rooted.
The Gmail 4.2 APK is signed by Google, but with a different key than the one in the Play Store (we checked the signatures - they differ). One is probably the test key and the other the production key. For this reason, you can't simply install it as an update and therefore need to be rooted with the ability to mount the /system directory for writing in order to remove the existing Gmail APK.
Important: Once Google updates Gmail in the Play Store, you will want to revert this process or at the very least delete the Gmail 4.2 APK you installed here if you want to update it from the Play Store.
OK, let's get down to it. You'll probably need ADB installed on your computer. There is a chance that this might work without ADB by just removing the APKs mentioned below and installing the new one, but it didn't seem to work reliably for everyone. This should, though:
1. Download Gmail 4.2 apk.
2. Rename it to Gmail2.apk.
3. Make a Nandroid backup in case something goes wrong (this is always a good thing to do before messing with your device).
4. Remount /system for writing (via your favorite root-aware file explorer).
5. Delete (or move if you want to save the APKs) all other versions of Gmail. Usually there are 2 or 3 copies. One will be in /system/app (that's the original Gmail that was pre-installed on the device) and there may be a few in /data/app (these are the updates installed from the Play Store). They'll be called "Gmail.apk," or "com.google.android.gm-[number].apk," An easy way to tell is to look for the Gmail icon.
6. You may need to delete the .odex files matching the APKs in step 5 too, if you have them. Neither I nor Artem had to do this, but there are many different ROMs out there, and we're trying to cover all bases. Ignore this step and only come back to it if something doesn't work later.
7. Reboot. Once you do, you should have no Gmail as far as Android is concerned.
8. You can try to install the Gmail 4.2 APK you downloaded at this point by tapping it in your favorite file explorer (move the APK to your device first, of course). If that doesn't work, or if you prefer ADB, fire up a command line and type adb install Gmail2.apk.
If you get an error message, you probably didn't delete all copies of Gmail. If you don't feel like playing with ADB for Step 8, I've also gotten it to work by just copying the APK to /data/app, but that's not as fool proof as "ADB install".

"We aren't allowed to share the APK just yet, but we're working on getting the permission necessary to do so. You would need to be rooted and running 4.0+. No promises though."

Not required, just flow those steps which i gave its working fine....
SMS feature is there in the GMAIL (Only Browser version) where you can enter the mobile number in chat and send the Message its totally free but its not working in INDIA ....

Buddy, I tried it but first time it was showing older version. So, it checked in data/app. The latest version was showing there. so i renamed that as well. after that, I got GMAIL2..its awesome. About SMS, I knew about browser base but for application can't it be possible like Google play(just like newer version). why everything is not available in India.
The sms feature is now supporting all networks in India. The list of supported providers is given here

CALENDAR:
Now the calendar is a bit tricky to install. Some have managed to install it while some can't.
I myself installed it by removing all traces of ANY calendar app in my phone by removing system apps through titanium backup such as the stock calendar and any associated file.
Try searching manually in system/privapp and system/app.
Do not delete SecCalendarProvider.apk and GoogleCalendarSyncAdapter.apk, these are needed for the calendar to work.
Lastly restart and install the new calendar app attached in the link below and install it manually.
This is what worked for me, it may not work for you. Some got it installed by just placing it in privapp folder, deleting nothing. A proper fix still needs to be found

I got into a bootloop after edit the build.prop version. I used an app called Build.Prop editor to make this change. The ROM I'm using is Mahdi 2.9. Clearing caches didn't help so I had to reflash ROM. Anyone has any clue/experience as to why this happens?

Messenger - main functions work. But when I try to attach something to the message body, it FCs.
Keep, Gmail - opens, but FCs. When I replace Google Play Services with 5.0 one it opens without FC, but it tells me I have to update Google Play Services. After the update, Gmail and Keep FCs.
Keyboard - works perfectly, also in Landscape mode.
Google Now - works perfectly.

Whoop whoop! I managed to find a gmail 5 apk and I simply uninstalled the current gmail with Titanium backup and installed the new gmail apk normally

Well changing the build prop definitely wasn't the reason. Try to just edit it with an explorer like root explorer.

Did you edit your build prop? Its required to edit it for of the apps to work..

Well this morning I tried editing it again this time using root explorer. However I got the same results, bootloop. Before I edited the build.prop system was working perfectly fine. So as strange as it is, it seems to be the culprit.
The funny thing is that as far as I can see I already have the material design on the launcher and google Now even though I cannot edit the release codename [emoji54]

First of all, really appreciate your work...
I found a version of Google Search and Google Now Launcher with Material UI as well as hotword detection that work in tandem without any mod need (not even build.prop)...They install like normal apks and can be uninstalled later if required...The only requirement is to insert three libraries into /system/lib and fix permissions (rw-r--r--), means you got to be rooted...

I simply uninstalled Keep with Titanium Backup, deleted the apk from the system/app folder, rebooted, and installed the new apk. No changes in build prop were required and it works just fine [emoji2]
