[Q] Recommend battery to buy - T-Mobile LG G2x

Hi, I need to get a second battery for the G2x, I thought I should ask people here which ones you've bought over eBay (since I don't want things exploding in my face). Not the bulky batteries, the normal ones.

there's a bunch of talk in the accessories department http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1116

What I did was I got 2 batteries and an external charger from ebay for about 12 bucks and never had a problem with them.
Don't underestimate the power of China a battery isn't gonna expload in your face

Andida 1800MhA Ace Battery

Recieved this dirt cheap (so called High Capacity1800mAh) chinese battery today, if anyone is interested I post my results and findings, after using it for a couple of days. Got it from www.obostore.com

after using and comparing to stock battery my conclusion is I get the same hours from this battery (which I expected) still it's a cheap replacement if you need one I posted a review on the website of www.obostore.com and they refuse to publish it, that says enough I think, right ? chinese fake

Thats what I thought too, as it's the same size. still wanted to give it a testdrive, It's only the price of a Mc Donalds happymeal and free shipping so I ordered one for fun. Will post my findings after is properly calibrated.
Its not too great.....its not too bad. for what you paid....you get a battery than the stock on. Have been using it for a month now.
I'd love to hear your experience with it. Let us know! If it's any good, I'll be buying it...

I think the real capacity will be about 1100Mah zo 130 less then the original battery, as i'm in China right now I went one day on path to find me a spare battery for mine DHD and many just asked to high prices and I hadnt any faith that those higher Mah's would be really true.
So after looking at so many small shops in Guangzhou I came at this shop where the girl first needed look, being suprised that they where not selling battery's with false Mah's on, in fact it was a 1100Mah and I bought it just for 30rmb, all other sellers asked me about 40 a 50, one even dared ask more then 80.
The brand is Speedy, its a brand from Hongkong speedycom.hk/
It's to bad such brands wouldnt survive on eBay because most people will just go for the higher number even though the higher number is just a lie.
im interesting too
Money aside, is there any proven/better batteries for the desire hd?

No the original htc battery is IMO the best battery on the market.
Guys, honestly I can't understand why you all want to try something that has been tried and proved several times to be fake.
Those guys make money on their lies and you help them expand and design their next lie which we will have to buy again before we realise the truth.
My opinion is that all people who bought similar batteries should return them and request refund because what they bought was not what was described. You bought a 1800/1500 or whatever mAh battery which was really 1240. If eBay or Paypal is involved, you can claim your money very easily.
buying batteries from these mass production factories from china is playing with your life dude....either they will short circuit your mobile board, else it will just blow up under slight increase of temperature.... please be caution and use only when your main original battery dies off and use this as backup and not for long hours usage....
also need a better battery

Funny enough, the only reported cases where batteries exploded was for major brand names...
Ah, good thing I have 2 oems then...but truth be told, I never have to use the second one...but I do like have the backup

Is there anyway to check the actual power of the battery? I bought a 1600mah off ebay and it does seem to last a couple of hours longer than the original, but that might be cos i started using a custom rom after i bought it lol

This is reason why we better should use External battery packs...
Of course best of them cost much... but still your DHD maybe will live longer.
Thanks for info about Andida 1800MhA almost bought it. I will wait some time maybe there will be better one in future....
When I had a HTC Hero I had one such 1800mha peace of junk it lasted couple of hours and one day just stopped working I will never make the same mistake again.
These "batteries" are cheep for a reason.....

charger for spare battery?

Has anyone found a spare battery charger? I'm looking for the type that plug right into 110th wall outlets and charge a loose separate battery.
Amazon has one for 13 dollars or so, I ordered mine last night.

I couldn't find any on a site that I trusted so I started looking everywhere and found a few different styles. Some of the docks looked promising but a quality one is around 38 bucks. The others looked like cheap junk but hey the prices started around 4 dollars. I decided not to risk putting my brand new studio battery in one of these cheapo battery charges but then I found one on boxwave. I had always trusted them in the past so I looked into it further and then noticed that the spare battery charger that boxwave was selling was the exact same 4 dollar charger being sold in eBay so I gave up and just bought the eBay charger.
That exact one (powergen) i ordered on Amazon a while back...it is great.
Can use it for li-on camera batteries (reason I purchased), but i realized that it can be used for cell phone batteries too!

I didn't realize that the charging pins were adjustable when I ordered it, its pretty cool it will fit almost any small device battery, I even used it last night to charge up an iPhone battery I had laying around. Most definitely worth the money! Some may be worried about how cheap it is, but realistically the chips to control amperage flow and switch to a trickle charge at 4.2 volts are old technology, and cheapo chinese stuff nowadays is more than good enough for a simple charging task. I also must say I'm impressed with the feel of it, it feels durable and sturdy.

Anker battery vs Polarcell battery(both 1800mah)

Fun thread. Which battery is better? I got the Anker batter but now i feel a little regretful as i think the Polarcell might be better..... The Anker seems good but i was expecting more and it charge slow too compared to my original samsung battery(thats 1 year 6 months old now).
My Polarcell battery life is very good. My record is over 7 hours of screen time.
I tried the stock battery with the same rom/kernel and it can't even get close to 7 hours. 4:30 hours at best.
Why can i find the polarcell battery. Whai is your ROM, your kernel to have a very good autonomie

My i9000 deserves a gift for still going strong after more than 2 years of ownership.
I keep getting tempted by new phones, but theres really no point (unless you want to play games....)

Extended batteries

Hi I'm here today to inform everyone that if you buy an extended battery from eBay, do not buy any that are white, orange, and yellow only buy the black ones that look like a bug stock battery, as the others are not the mah that is stated or they are and go bad quickly, I have bought both types and the black ones maybe only 3500 whereas the others maybe more but the black ones have much better battery life, especially on Scotts jb ROMs (cm10.1) and beanstalk
Just thought I'd state this to maybe save some people some money and annoyance
Sent from my SGH-I997 using xda premium
I have gotten the black double-size batteries in the past with some success, mostly due to the fact that the batteries WILL and DO go bad over time.
I contacted the seller in both cases (one for my Infuse, the other for a Galaxy Nexus), and the seller was quick to send out a replacement, no questions asked.
So, adding to this OP, be cautious of ANY battery you purchase for ANY device over a year old, as these batteries could have been on a shelf for 2 years and "dried up" from age.

On a related note, sort of an update...
I purchased one of the cells as referenced in the OP and, after a couple of days of leveling, I think it's coming around. I'm gonna watch it for 2 more days and report back.
Okay, so with a bit of knowledge I've gleaned over the years, I made my own extended battery with 2 cells from 2 stock batteries.
The one I ordered ended up failing so I contracted the seller who promptly sent the replacement within a day. I have yet to cycle the battery and test it, but the one I made is better than the one I gave the old lady. I can't post pics with the mobile app yet, but when I can I will. I average 14 hours of moderate use per day and still go home with 40+ %.

very interesting would love to see it and i think it would be great to have a little tutorial on how to do that for those who have the parts and dont want to buy from ebay
Test pic upload
Looks like it worked, will post pic in a little while.
Okay, battery on left is the one you get from eBay, the one on the right is my homemade extended battery. If you peel the cover of a stock battery you'll see a cell, a bottom plate and a top plate with the control electronics installed.
All I did was what computer manufacturers have been doing for years, join two cells to one controller.
I might write a tutorial if enough interest pops up... *hint hint*
To anyone reading this:
My girlfriend's Infuse was damaged by the orange/yellow/white battery you see in the picture. The phone was scorch by a battery that just kept charging because one cell could not take anymore charge, so it just kept heating up.
If you have one of these batteries in your phone, keep a very close eye on it. I now have to contact the seller and see if there is any recourse for a phone that's been damaged by one of their products. Plainly put, it's burned so bad the sim card is melted in the slot!

or find a Samsung original battery at a good price?
or find a battery of another brand but powerful?

Agreed, I've been using Anker 3220mAh for about half a year now. The good thing is the package on amazon comes with two at a fairly good price and an external charger. Ive been carrying the extra with me always and never had problem with battery life because i just swap when one dies.

I've got several 10,000mAh ZeroLemon batteries and a couple of Hyperion 10,000mAh batteries as well. The difference, ZeroLemon is a TriCell battery so you won't get a 100% accurate battery reading unless you pull the battery and reinsert it. The Hyperion is a single cell battery that will always report the correct battery states, however the Hyperion doesn't hold up as long as the ZeroLemon in my opinion. I tested both batteries when they first were released for the distributorship in the USA. The Anker battery I've never tried, however there are literally thousands of positive comments on that battery so I'd have to agree it must be a good battery as well. If your looking for a replacement battery pretty close to OEM, I'd go with the Anker. However if your looking for more power I'd go with the Hyperion. And finally if you're looking for more power, durability, and a battery that just don't quit, I'd go with the ZeroLemon. Personally I use ZeroLemon and a full charge with literally everything on, full brightness, Bluetooth, WiFi, heavy use, etc, etc, etc, will run for 2 1/2 to 3 days. But now it's a beast of a battery and it's not that light either. I'm a former SEAL, & I consider my cellphone with the ZeroLemon battery my concealed weapon, lol. One hit with that thing and it's lights out, lol.
Developers don't need no stinkin' signature!
If I've been able to help you, please hit the "Thanks" button. *
Been using my Anker for 1.5yrs too. Love the peace of mind of knowing you will never run out of power and need to charge outside.

So, if the Anker battery is the the same capacity as the Samsung, then why would it be any better?

I hadn't thought of that. I tend to purchase directly from Samsung to avoid just that; it's worth the few extra dollars for peace of mind, plus should anything go wrong I have a reliable (and accountable) place to go back to.

If you want an battery with a good price, try searching an OEM Samsung battery.
OEM battery is an original one but without proper packaging as it should be sell to a manufacturer not to end user.
An OEM battery might cost much less than the original non OEM.
Make sure it is an Original OEM battery by buying from trusted vendor.

Cheaper for equal if not almost the same quality. Bang for your buck for not having to pay "brand" taxes.
Sent from my SM-N910W8 using Tapatalk
Maybe you should consider buying the extra battery kit. You get a new battery and a charger, so you can charge it outside the phone. In this way you are almost certain that the product is genuine, plus you can use your old battery as a backup, even if it's not in the best shape.

"Brand taxes"? I hear this phrase thrown about quite a lot, but what does that really mean??? I'll overpay for the device, but I'll try to save a few dollars on the accessories. Consider this: anecdotally, there have been more than a few cases of those third-party batteries failing or exploding. If it's a power accessory like a battery or charger, I'd much rather take my chances with the brand's items than a third-party just to save a few bucks.
Put it this way: to me, it's like purchasing a performance automobile but servicing it with aftermarket parts and filling it with regular gasoline, just to save money.

I think it is more like servicing your (performance or not) car at stealership vs local mechanic. As long as you know that they are good trusty mechanic (or good brand in case of battery) you should be good without paying the premium.
Okay . . .
I respectfully disagree, but we'll chalk this up to parallax and leave it at that.
