Is it necessary to calibrate the battery of xt720 after the flash ?
As i know , xt720 battery is type of li-ion battery . If i use battery calibration , what is the correct step ? I don't think that charge to 100% then calibrate it will do the work because i tried it before and after calibrate for about 5 minutes , the system does not regenerate batterystat.bin . Only after a reboot then the file will regenerate
you should calibrate the battery if you have big battery drain issues.

What those battery calibration apps do, is delete the batterystats file.
But when you flash a new ROM you automaticly delete it, which means that androids starts monitoring your battery from scratch, and from the gathered data it calculates your battery %.
It is normal, or so I thought, that the system only rebuilds the file upon reboot, not directly after erasing the file. This is how it works with most files that are automatically created by the system.
I just charge to 100%, boot to recovery and wipe battery stats, then reboot. Let it drain completely without charging, then charge completely without breaks. Calibrated.

I've tried rooting this damn phone twice, followed the steps yet every time my phone just resets completely.
I honestly don't know what I'm doing wrong ... Is there a guide that's VERY specific in the steps to root? I tried youtube, couldn't find anything, and the method of going into boot was different so I'm lost...
Here's the questions I have on the steps...
1. Install latest Clockworkmod Recovery using NVFlash, if you haven’t already done so. - What do I do with this file ?
2. Download the root zip package referenced above.
3. Put the zip package on your internal or external sd card on your G2X. Do not unzip the package.
4. Turn off phone and boot into Clockworkmod Recovery by pressing volume down and power and hold until the fancy LG (second one) appears. - Isn't this the phone reset method? The youtube video I watched said to press "volume up + volume down"
5. Select install zip from sd card. Select and flash the root zip package. Note: You navigate in Clockwordmod Recovery by using the volume keys up and down and commit the action by pressing the power button. - Install the zip or clockword mod?
6. Reboot your phone. You are now rooted.
- I just need something really in depth, step by step by step ... If anyone is willing it'd be nice >.<
-Thanks

the rom selection is your choice I dont know what you want to do, obviously since you just stated you want root (SU permissions)
if you know what you basically want let me know in here or PM and I'll help you out. Only cause you kind of searched, yet you are obviously brand new to all of this.

Well that video is what completely confused me ... the process seemed different in its steps to root. I followed the steps in that video, and the steps in the original post but still couldn't get into the root..
Now I will say I have no idea on which ROM to pick. In fact, that's probably what messed me up in the first place.. Do you have any suggestions? The Hellfire ROM seems to be popular amongst users on the forum. Basically, I just want a stable ROM that's going to allow me to remove stock applications, free up bloatware, and make my phone just run overall smoother.. and of course ability to over clock, under clock. Extra goodies are a plus ..

-Rooting takes 15 minutes if you follow directions, after you get all the downloads.
-Get the apx drivers first install them regardless of everything it helps connect the phone and makes sure the process goes smoothly, if you do not know how to install drivers for a phone... Google it.
http://www.mediafire.com/?kgfk5234e4hhggc
I will suggest this since it easiest now a days. Read the directions over and over. then proceed to attempt.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1566681
after power up with the recovery select wipe/ format data (this will wipe the phone so your apps and settings are kaput so, make sure you have your google contacts and what not backed up with regular sync through settings. Your texts will be gone also, there are apps to back those up, search them if you want. After booting up and wiping select to install rom from which ever area you put the zip files at (DO NOT PUT THEM IN A FOLDER JUST LAY THEM ON THE THE SD-CARD WITH DRAG AND DROP.) First rom then kernel, if you choose to use it. then power on.
The rom I suggest for you, it is easy one step to install, then boot... LET SET FOR 10 MINUTES AFTER YOU BOOT UP! This allows the phone to adjust itself and all it's new entities and what not.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1400620
For the kernel to over-clock and under-clock (if you do not know then Google it).
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=19506802&postcount=1065
Make sure the rom and kernel are on the external sd-card if that is what you are using or vice versa.
I think that covers everything I don't know if it does or not right now as I just winged this altogether. Any questions ask I'll answer in a timely matter as I'm just watching Californication right now, lol.
ive followed what you said and it wont let me download the links that videos says to. takes me to a site and ask for money. help
I gave you all the links, you said the video didn't help so disregard that. Idk what else to tell you.

This is my take, to help. This is as dumb as it gets to install CWM and root (optional). Click Thanks when you're done.
Step 1.
Download the APX Drivers from here: http://www.mediafire.com/?q0hn0d6etw9hg8b
I mirrored it to my mediafire. Thanks go to TGA_Gunnman!
OPTIONAL: to root, read this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=24992835&postcount=182
Step 2.
Turn off your phone, pull the battery.
Step 3.
Connect a microusb cable to your computer.
Step 4.
Extract the "One-Click-G2x-recovery-flasher-09-23.rar" to a folder. You'll see 2 folders, NVFlash and APX.
Step 5.
Right click My Computer, click on Manage. Go to Device Manager. Open up the APX folder you extracted, as well as the NVFlash folder (see Step 8).
Step 6.
Push and hold Vol Up+Vol Down. Plug in the USB Cable to your phone. Your computer will beep, indicating device plugged in, unless you have it on mute. This does NOT reset your phone in any way. You SHOULD get a dialog telling you to install drivers or something. If not, switch to Device Manager and you should see an uninstalled device.
Step 7.
Install those drivers (in the APX folder).
Step 8.
Open up the NVFlash folder and locate "OneClickRecoveryFlasher.exe". Run it.
Step 9.
Take your pick if you want internal recovery or external recovery (w/ sdcard), then click it. You'll see a S/W download on your phone. Wait until the blue screen finishes. If no errors pop up, see Step 10. If an error does pop up, redo install (as instructed).
Step 10.
Let go of Vol Up+Vol Down. Pull out USB cable. Get into CWM recovery using Vol Up+Power when phone is off. Let go when you see the blue wavey LG logo.
the problem i am having is trying to get that flasher to download
Rooting is not for everyone. If you are having this much trouble, you should find a friend that has done it and let them go at it.

hi, here's the Easy root tool I used for my pantech burst (edit: works for Win 7, not tested on Win 8):
http://www.sendspace.com/file/p3p0f4
Unzip this file into any directory. The directions are:
- On the phone, turn on USB debugging before running the bat file.
- Connect phone to the computer
- run RunMe.bat. Choose option 4. Let it boot 2 times as it goes. Quit from the PC command window after it boots up and is ready.
- Then update Superuser app, and choose Root in its preferences.
- Then get Super Manager free from App store, give it root permission (settings) and now you can remove stuff.
That should do it but I'm not sure. You can try and see what happens.
thanks

do u have any solution to this pls
also Juice defender ultimate couldnt save my juice
pls help me on this battery issue
10% every 20 mins even data off n wifi ,bluetooth off
Battery backup? You mean just the battery right.
The battery in pantech burst is not good, but 10% every 20 minutes is not right - but it is fine I think (?) if that is when you are using the phone, watching video or playing a CPU intensive game.
But if its just lying on the desk with screen off, then the 10/20 is not right.
You can remove extra apps. Maybe you have some app that is taking CPU.
How to remove apps:
http://forum.gizmolord.com/android-...att-default-appsbloatware-from-pantech-burst/
You can remove the ATT apps and others. Be careful in removing apps. I cant find the list anymore.
Yea delete apps. GPS should be off too. Just factory reset to make sure nothing is wrong. Clear dalvic/data/cache etc.
Search around.
Also disable any automatic task killer. It may be eating up CPU
Unfortunately the steps you provided didn't work with easy root normally they do but would it be because im running windows 8?
I dont know. I have Windows 7. I dont know what it does in Windows 8. Hmmm.

Rooting
Download the utoo-root-signed.zip from here and copy it to a microSD card (do NOT extract it)
Charge up the battery in your Karbonn ST-8_version2, Power Off and remove the charger cable.
Insert the microSD card into your tablet
Get into Recovery mode( Power+volume down ) .
In the recovery you can move with the Volume down button, you can select with Power or Volume up
Select the apply update from EXT option
Select the utoo-root-signed.zip, this will install the package
Wait for the update to finish
Select reboot system now
This is a tried and tested method and has worked for everyone till now.
Attached zip credit goes to xda user @Lannig
Lag-free Tweak
Install SetCPU app
Download the file Setcpu.txt from here
Paste it into the root of your SD Card
Open SetCPU, first change the governor from "conservative" to "performance2"(This is the most important thing)
Click on options button(three dots) and then click Device Selection
Select Custom Frequencies
Now Set Min frequency to 48 MHz and Max frequency to anything according to your preference(Now you'll have the choice of setting the frequency upto 1.5 GHz)
Note:
When you wan't to conserve more battery lower the Max Frequency(while browsing or listening to music maybe) and when playing HD games up the Max Frequency(Most games will run perfectly with even 1200 MHz)
48MHz of Min frequency will give more battery in in standby mode.
Try not to Clock the CPU above 1.2 GHz for a long time as it could cause heat issues. The governor itself should speedup everything for you.
Low Internal Memory
The fact that our devices have only 1.51 GB of Internal Storage limits the capabilities of our devices. Especially with HD Games.
I recommend using GL2SD for games at the moment.
Get used to using the app, its pretty easy..

Ok guys,This the first and last time I am posting this....
To unbrick ur tab......
1. Post what u did
2. What is wrong with the tablet according to your understanding
If you want to be helped the above two points really matter........
3. See this link
4. All info about unbricking various types of bricks can be found on the thread....
5. Also i would suggest you go through the thread fully and understand every detail
6. Another alternative for you guys would be Karbonn service center, But I feel it is useless as they take minimum 30-45 days to repair things
7. The method i mentioned is the first one, sdcard one
At this moment we have an experimental unbrick package with us thanks to developer @fuser-invent
This package is to be used in the STEP 3 of SOFT BRICK UNBRICK SDCARD method
Step 3
This only works if the first method completed far enough to allow you into the Stock Recovery or if the Alternative Methods worked and you now need to install the correct firmware.
0. Restore your SD card back to normal capacity with the SD Formatter software. This can take a long time, be patient. Choose the following options:
- FORMAT TYPE -> FULL (Overwrite)
- FORMAT SIZE ADJUSTMENT -> ON
1. Get THIS firmware package
2. Download the above zip extract the above zip to the root of an empty sdcard( less than 2gb ). It should look like this all four files should be in the root of the sdcard.
3. Just FYI, the zip folder among those four files is the stock rom ( it has boot.img,bootloder.img,system,recovery.img,aml_logo.img,logo.img )
Also this package is a recovery package for soft bricks....
4. Put the sdcard in your tablet
5. Hold down the Power and Vol - buttons to enter the Stock Recovery
6. Flash your firmware package and reboot the tablet.
7. If it worked, either plug your tablet into the computer and use USB mode or shut down your tablet and remove the SD card, then remove the "u-boot.bin" and "uImage_recovery" files from your SD card.
8. Boot back into recovery and make sure that the firmware package correctly installed the Stock Recovery on your device.
Your tablet is now back to it's original Factory Settings.
6. For furthur assistance see this link
7. If you are successful plz report back...........it will help others

As 2012katas said, it's very important to go to the thread he links in #6. Yes, it is a HUGE thread, but it is detailed for a reason. 99% of your questions will be answered in that thread.
For example, the thread clearly says to use the ELF2 rescue image and the USB image tool to prepare your card first, then delete the ELF2 files from it and replace them with the files for your tablet. It also says that if that doesn't work you can try the SD Formatter software with my suggested settings to try and prep your card. I have no idea if the package will work until someone tries it the correct way and reports back.
On another note. If it doesn't work the first time, try to delete the u-boot.bin file only and then try again. Also mentioned in the thread, some people need to press and hold the power and vol- buttons and then when the tablet starts lighting up, start pressing the power button repeatedly, but that is rare.
As for the people with deep bricked tablets (showing the M3/M6 chip), you don't have anything to loose at this point so you best bet is to download the ST10_20121129.zip package, remove the patch.zip and update.zip, put the ST8 v2 firmware package zip I made in that folder, edit the config_progress.xml so the firmware package name is correct and no longer called update.zip, delete the part for the patch.zip, renumber the remaining steps, zip the whole thing back up and load it into the AML USB Burning software.
That might work or it might not work. You have to intelligently experiment because there is no official release for the tablet. Also you will notice that in the unbricking thread I say that if you can get the tablet showing some signs of life after the M3/M6 chip deep brick, you can then move to the SD card method. So if the usb_spl.bin and u-boot-orig.bin for the ST10 work with the ST8 to at least get the tablet out of M3/M6 mode then you could use the SD card method.
Lastly, to 2012katas, I'm rarely on XDA so if you have more questions, I see them more often on DragonDevs. You seem into this Dev stuff and smart, so feel free to get in touch to troubleshoot more.

Hi All,
I accidentally flashed TWRP recovery before routing. On Karbon Smart tab 8 Ver 2

Need help to go back and flash stock recovery..
if anyone have all he junks that is pre-installed in the tab, please upload.
So, I was struggling with my battery life on my OnePlus 6 since I bought it. And yes, I have been told numerous times that you will get the best battery life using Stock OOS, but I just didn't find this true. My battery drain with my screen on was about 20%/hour and my idle battery drain (when the screen is off) was 3-5% per hour. I also checked the wakelocks using BBS but there were none.
The reason why I am making this guide is to help others that are struggling with even the most basic things (like flashing a ROM to both slots) and to help them achieve better battery life and performance (the performance seems to be about the same, maybe a little bit better, but the battery life is far better).
Now, I am getting a drain of around 11%/hour with medium brightness (50%) and an idle drain of around 0.5-0.8%/hour (I have very poor cell tower signal here). I am providing a screenshot as proof.
I will also be going through all the mods that I installed (not only for the battery life, but also for other things like stereo sound).
Code:
DISCLAIMER: I am not an expert at anything I am writing here. The pure reason why this guide exists is to help people who are struggling like I was. There may be some incorrect information is this article because of my wrong understanding of some topics. Also, English is not my native language so expect some grammar mistakes.
--- THE GUIDE ---
Step 1: Backup
The first step is to completely backup all your files and apps because you will have to wipe the entire storage in the process. I found this guide to be very helpful.
Step 2: Install fastboot OOS
I am not sure if this step is necessary but I did it so if you want to follow all the steps that I did, you should do this one, too. There is a developer named maurofronio and he compiles automatic Stock OOS installers for your PC. Their usage is very simple and it can unbrick pretty much any bricked OP6. Here is the thread. The ROM I'll be using is Evolution X version 4.1.69 (the latest version to this date) and this ROM requires you to flash OOS Open Beta 5 BEFORE you flash the Evolution X ROM. So, download the fastboot installer for the OOS that the current latest Evolution X ROM requires and flash it.
How to flash using fastboot?
You need to hold the power button if the phone is turned on and click 'shutdown'. After that, disconnect the charger if it is plugged in and hold POWER BUTTON + VOLUME UP. Wait until you hear a vibration, then you can release the buttons. Then, connect the phone to a computer with the fastboot installer using a USB cable. In the fastboot installer folder, there will be a "flash_all.bat" file. Just open it and let it run until it's finished. After that, the phone will automatically reboot into OOS.
Step 3: Install OOS to both slots
I am not completely sure if the fastboot installer installs the OOS to both slots, that's why I did this step. To be sure that OOS is in both slots.
Flash temporary TWRP created by maurofronio. You can find it here. Download the "TWRP image" file under the prerequisites section. You'll also need to download ADB & fastboot from here and install it. Then, put the TWRP image file into the installation directory of the ADB & fastboot. Next, turn your OP6 off and go into fastboot mode again by using the POWER + VOLUME UP button technique showed before. Start the ADB & fastboot and type this command:
Code:
fastboot flash boot twrp-3.3.1-18-enchilada-Q-mauronofrio.img
This will temporarily install TWRP. Now, boot into recovery mode by selecting it using the volume buttons and confirming the selection by pressing the power button. The phone will boot into TWRP.
After this, download official OOS from here. Be sure to change the selection to Beta Build!! After downloading it, transfer it to the internal storage of your OP6. If you downloaded this file with your phone, it'll probably be in a ".jar" format. Just rename the file and remove the extension to fix this problem. Now, select REBOOT in the TWRP main menu, and select Slot A. Next, go back and click install and select the firmware. After flashing, go back to REBOOT and now select Slot B. After this, install the OOS firmware package again. Then, wipe cache. Done!
Step 4: Install Evolution X
Download this ROM by AnierinB from its official thread here. But pay attention because when you click the "Download" button, it redirects to a download page for the OnePlus 6T and not the OnePlus 6. You have to go back and select 'enchilada' from all the folders available. After this, transfer the file to your phone and flash it. Wipe cache and format data (you'll have to type 'yes' to confirm the data format).
Done!
After all these steps, the ROM should be fully functional. But if you want the better battery life, you'll need to continue on with this guide. If you don't want to do anything else and you just want to boot into the ROM, just select REBOOT > SYSTEM and you're done here.
(optional) Step 5: Radioactive Kernel
Go ahead and download the Radioactive Kernel by acuicultor. Be sure to download the "Custom ROM" version and not the OOS version. After downloading, turn your phone off and then turn it back on by pressing POWER BUTTON + VOLUME DOWN. You'll boot into recovery (Evolution X comes with TWRP pre-installed).
Flash the Radioactive Kernel and wipe cache.
Reboot to system (REBOOT > SYSTEM).
(optional) Step 6: Magisk
Reboot back to recovery by using the method described in the previous step.
Download latest Magisk by topjohnwu here. Transfer the .zip file to your phone and flash it.
After flashing, wipe cache.
You can reboot to system now.
(optional) Step 7: Magisk modules
We will need two modules for Magisk: the Advanced Charging Controller (by VR25) and the Universal GMS Doze module by gloeyisk. Both are downloadable through the Magisk Manager app.
The advanced charging controller module will stop your phone from charging when it reaches a threshold (the default is 80%) and it helps reduce the battery wear. If you want to know how to change these thresholds and more, please refer to the official ACC documentation here.
The Universal GMS Doze module disables some wakelocks caused by Google Play Services and, therefore, saves battery when the screen is off.
(optional) Fixing a problem with ACC
The OnePlus 6 has for some reason a special wakelock called chg_wake_lock that turns on when the charging cable is attached. This wakelock is present even when ACC stops the device from charging, thus, consuming battery when the phone is plugged but not charging because it has reached the threshold set by ACC. The only way I found to fix this, is to manually block this wakelock in the Franco Kernel Manager. (Yes, I've tried things like WakeBlock, Evolution X built-in wakelock blocker and even ACC-implemented wakelock blocking. Nothing has worked, because they couldn't find this wakelock, thus I could not block it). Download Franco Kernel Manager by Francisco Franco from Google Play (it's paid) and block the wakelocks there by going into Live Monitor > Wakelocks > Wakelock Blockers > '+' icon and typing in "chg_wake_lock" without the quotes.
(optional) Step 8: Apps
Complete these things under the "Battery life tips" section in the Franco Kernel Manager:
underclock the CPU,
underclock the GPU,
install Naptime (to put your device into a special 'doze' mode when the screen is off to save battery),
install servicely (to block certain services to save battery),
install Better Battery Stats (to see what's draining your battery in the future).
Please note that my statistics regarding the battery drain are based on the normal CPU and GPU clocks (not the underclocked ones).
That's it!
I hope this guide helped you. I have a few more tips for you (not regarding the battery life). If want the Stereo Speaker mod for your OnePlus 6 from this thread, don't download the official one, because it won't work. Instead, download a modified v9 version that works with the current version of AML from this guy. Also, this is the order that you should install things:
1. Audio Modification Library
2. Viper4Android
3. Stereo mod
If you have any questions, just ask here, I'll try to respond ASAP.

What do you mean? A screenshot of some usage statistics like GSam Battery Monitor?
Hey, thanks a lot for this guide. I just installed everything a while ago and will charge my phone once it's at 10% (15% now). Will update the thread with screenshots soon.

Okay, I'm charging right now, so I'll post a screenshot in a few hours when there are some statistics collected.
Hey, guys. Here are a few screenshots from my first charge cycle (80 - 10%).
The idle time really seems to be amazing.
I also had an hour of voice call on Messenger

Sorry to hear that. How old is your phone? Did you have the battery replaced?

Oh! Sorry, I meant that in a good way ?. I'm really happy so far with the battery savings. And yeah, my phone's a year and 6 months old.
The link of the beta build, when downloaded it turn out to be .JAR file
ja
After this, download official OOS from here.
really weird things happened in the official site, the link of beta build 5 that was provided within the site when downloaded turned out to be .JAR file which can't be recognize by TWRP recovery and also the local upgrade in the system. had to find another link in the XDA forum instead. https://otafsg1.h2os.com/patch/amazone2/GLO/OnePlus6Oxygen/OnePlus6Oxygen_22.Y.64_GLO_064_2002191414/OnePlus6Oxygen_22_OTA_064_all_2002191414_8efc91d9.zip
this file of this link is also beta 5 but in the the rugular .zip file that could be recognize by both TWRP & Local upgrade.
it take me three hours ti figure it out what was the caused of the problems. I've even ttried to convert the .JAR file into the .ZIP file and then copy in to the device both it still didn't solve. have to download the file from that XDA link instead and work just fine.

Oh, well I am glad for ya then! I thought I smelt some irony there because you got only like 3 hrs of screen on time from 80% to 10%. Yeah, the battery wear explains everything. I got these stats from a brand new OP6 that I got just a few weeks ago!

Yes, this happened to me too. I don't really know why the OP6 site does this. When you download the file using your phone, you get a .jar file. But when you download with a PC, you get a .zip file. But the fix is simple: just remove the ".jar" extension from the file and you're good to go!
I will also update the post to let people know of this. Thanks mate!

Lol, I almost did that too, because it happened to me too, but I found somewhere that this would be enough. If I am not mistaken, the filename is "xxxxx.zip.jar" so just removing the ".jar" part solves the issue.

Nope, just the normal one, version 2.7.1.6. I just downloaded the module, restarted the device, opened the app, granted root privileges, clicked "OK" on the driver installation popup, rebooted the phone again and it worked. Do you have any more exact information on the error you're getting?

I was trying to install the legacy version of it. bcoz I still think that V4A haven't release the support for android 10:silly: BTW, did u use titanium backup? I have problem using TB in this rom, not certain because of what. but it keep stuck in the progress when i'm trying to do a batch restore ( multiple apps restore ) have to restore it one by one, if I'm doing it this way, it's problem-free..

I mean... Viper4Android has worked for me on every ROM I've tried. But I've always used the normal version, not the legacy one.
And I haven't used Titanium Backup yet because I didn't need it. But I think that for the batch mode, you'll need the pro version of TB (which is paid). Could that be the problem here?
Oh yeah, regarding Viper4Android, I installed the Audio Modification Library and then the Viper4Android FX v2.7.1.6 and rebooted, after which I followed the driver installation instructions on the Viper4Android app. Still didn't work
