My HTC Sensation will not boot or install CWM. I have "signature verification failed" and red triangle. My symptoms occured after I upgraded my HTC drivers with a file PG58img. My phone is rooted, s-off. What is my remedy to get past te verification errors. What are my next steps? How do I fix my phone?
Thanks in advance for your help.
First how are you trying to install CWM?
Also what firmware are you on?
Last does it say locked at the top of your Hboot screen.

After I rooted, I installed PG58IMG and then my problems began.
I am trying to install CWM from SD Card.zip.
1.) Vol Down + Power
2.) Recovery
3.) Screen with Red Triangle
4.) Vol Up + Power
5.) Recovery from SD Card. zip
6.) Electronic verification error, installation aborted.

Boot Loop Fix, Red Triangle Fix
The fix for my boot loop problem from installing P58img.zip was for me to edit the android.txt file inside the zip file. After adding the correct CIDnum, this fixed the boot loop.

Good I was going to tell you that you needed to edit the android-info.text file and you would be good to go.

Hi All:
I followed the instructions at theunlockr.com:
http://theunlockr.com/2010/12/17/how-to-root-the-samsung-nexus-s
to root the Nexus S. I made it up to step V., section 5. When I enter fastboot and select "Recovery", I end up with a little Android guy with a white triange over his head and an orange exclamation mark inside, and I can't move past that, so I just have to pull the battery and reboot the phone. Why am I not getting to the stage where I can select a Mount System?
Any help appreciated - thanks!
- DDB
Nevermind, I got it. Phone is now rooted!
(mods, feel free to delete this thread, sorry for the waste of space!)
Could let me know how you got pass the little triangle please? I'm still stuck there.
Thx

That is the stock recovery image. Flash the CWM recovery appropriate for your device via fastboot, then boot into recovery, mount /system and flash the su binary.
Once you've done this boot the device and remove/rename /etc/install-recovery.sh. This will prevent the device from restoring the stock recovery upon reboot.
Or, if you need to flash something with the stock recovery, hold Vol Up and press power again while at the triangle screen. This had me stymied for a while. Stock recovery does a signature check so it's not useful for much. Can't flash superuser.zip with it.

Hi everyone,
Let's go straight to the point here's what took my phone down :
I had HTC Desire that I rooted with unrevoked. A several days ago I was notified that a new OTA update (the 2.29.405.2 version, the 28.89MB zip file) was available, so I downloaded it and tried to install it. The update wouldn't install as my phone was rooted. I found on some forum some guy that said he had the same problem and managed to install the update by renaming the zip file update.zip and moving it to the root of the SD card so this is what I did.
Now my phone is stuck at the HTC white boot screen, keeps rebooting. When I boot it in recovery mode it displays an error message (see attached file) like :
SD cheking....
Loading...[PB99DIAG.zip]
No image!
Loading...[PB99DIAG.nbh]
No image or wrong image!
Loading...[PB99IMG.zip]
No image!
Loading...[PB99IMG.nbh]
No image or wrong image!
I'm really new to all this and any help is more than welcome!
Well as far as I can see that's not an error message, since I get the same messages when booting into my Recovery mode on Nexus One (and mine is working).
Did you try wiping the phone and / or flashing your previous ROM again?
Thx for your reply.
Yeah I tried factory resetting it. To flash a ROM do I need to have a working phone, or just a working bootloader ? And how do I know my bootloader is still working ?
From what I understood the bootloader is the menu you get in when pressing [Volume down] while turning your phone on. If so, I do have a working bootloader, and the last (but not least) thing I need to be working is a recovery.
So I tried to re-install unrevoked while running Linux, but Linux doesn't recognize the device. I'll give it another try while running windows since it recognizes the phone if it's in recovery mode.
In case it doesn't work, is there anything else I can try besides sending the phone back to HTC ?

The same thing happened to me several weeks ago while working on some settings and updates. I freaked out a lot, but this is what worked for me. It may work for you:
1. Remove the battery from the handset
2. Press & hold the power button on the handset for 10 seconds
3. Re-insert the battery
4. Press your volume down/up button (depending on what device you have) and while holding it, press the Power button.
I would suggest making a Nand Backup once you're in the HBOOT screen, but before you do it, chose the USB-PC Toggle option so that you can go into your phone via Windows Explorer and remove any flashable zip file your SD may have other than the ROM you want to flash.
what happend when you enter the recovery menu by selecting it with volum button and then power button to enter ? does it reboot into a green menu called clockworkmod ?
did you ever download a custom rom, such as for example defrost.zip and copy the file without unzipping it to your sd card, then select wipe all stuff you have and install that rom (zip) file. did you do that ?
i am also new to it and i have the same phone as you, but all works great for me, just needed to read many posts and tutorials here, then i did it and i am happy with it.

It enters a menu with 4 items :
FASTBOOT
RECOVERY
CLEAR STORAGE
SIM LOCK
Then when I select RECOVERY it enters the HTC boot screen endless loop...
I tried using unrevoked but it didn't work, then I tried using a RUU but it didn't work either.
I'm kinda loosing hope here any other idea what I can try?
SOLVED
It's alright I managed to run a RUU while the phone was in the fastboot submenu of the HBOOT
well I got the same problem.
Is there a real solution to it?
entering in nandroid just wont work.
As I said running a RUU worked, even though it wiped all the data off the phone.
So, today i did the following:
-rooted
-installed ClockworkMod Recovery v4.0.1.0
-downloaded the available OTA Update available (mine was still 1.18.)
-pressed install, the phone powered off, loaded the image with Android with the exclamation mark above it and it's been like that for about 45 minutes now... is that normal ? How long should it take to update ?
What do i do ?
I am afraid to press the power button as I fear it will brick it.
once you have this image with the exclamation mark in red, you have to press the power button + volume up.
now you have to choose to update from SD Card...
Ok, got it !
Now, it says "Cannot mount SDCARD:downloaded/OTA_Chacha_HTC_Europe_1.54.......Zip
Installation aborted."
I assume i must revert to Stock Recovery and then do it again, right ?
yep.
and to be sure, rename the file to "update.zip", since the recovery searches for this specific file name.
Which one should be renamed ?
Stockrecovery.zip or OTA_Chacha_HTC_Europe_1.54xxxxxxxxxx.zip ?
the OTA update.
Sorry for this but I'm stuck again.
I got the stockrecovery.zip from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1164468 but when I try to install it in CWM Recovery it says:
"E:Error in /sdcard/stockrecovery.zip
(Status 0)
Installation aborted."
What am I doing wrong ?
Isn't this the right Zip for me considering that I am trying to go back to Stock recovery for 1.18 and this one is for 1.33 ?
I just don't know how to flash to stock recovery ...
Ok, so I installed a clean 1.33 and after that I updated OTA 1.54.
But the way reverting to stock recovery is still a puzzle for me.
I tried with Terminal Emulator but it said that the file was not found on SDCARD.It was there, believe me.
I don't know, maybe someone will figure it out someday.
To revert to stock recovery you should rename the stock recovery to PH06IMG.zip.
The OTA update can be named whatever you like as you will select it manually, but the recovery has to be PH06IMG.zip. If you need any other infos you can hit me up on GTalk or Yahoo.
Hello guys,
i have a problem. I think i did somethink realy stupied and "broke" my sensation
it all started when i was stupid enough to flash
Firmware from 3.12.401.2/102 RUU from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1412618
when i rebootet the problem startet. when i boot the Sensation gets stuck at the green HTC logo at boot.
i can access the andoird menu via Volume down + Power
i managed to install the bootloader 1.17.2008 form here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=20681060&postcount=22
i have super-CID
i have the fasboot commands
i used to have the CWD recovery mode. now when i hit RECOVERY in the android menu i can't get into CWDs menu.
i get a screen with a phone and a red triangle and the phone doesn't do anthink.
i use the Hypersensation as ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1302969
does anyone have a clue how i ca fix it so that i can boot again.
i have a NAND Backup on my SD card and on my computer.
EDIT: I managed to get CWM working again by flashing the CWM files again via http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1242942
than i coulld restore my old NAND Backup
You rewrote the recovery partition too, when flashing the RUU.
If you are already on 1.17, then download a CWM and
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
and hopefully after the next reboot you will be able to get in to recovery from bootloader
EDIT: oh, I see you already managed to get a CWM on , glad it worked out
i was following this thread to install the ROM
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1429953
i applied the PG58IMG.zip from the http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1432220 as this was said to be required.
now after i updated the firmware through HBOOT, the phone asked to reboot. but it only stays at the white screen "HTC" and nothing more
all i can do is pull the battery out and put it back in and boot into HBOOT
i want to get into recovery mod to install the ROM i have saved on my SD Card. but like i said i cant get into recovery as once i press "bootloader" it will try to update the FW again. i only can say YES or NO, either one will end up with Rebooting the Phone as my only option. which gets me back into the WHITE SCREEN.
HELP PLEASE!!!
Take the memory card out, boot in to hboot, enter recovery. Reinstall memory card, and deleat the file.
thnx
thx. didnt think of that

Simple when you know how lol.
I learnt it last week
You can also run "adb reboot recovery" while the phone is off. That way you don't have to take the cover off. It also works if you for some reason get stuck (happens sometimes when flashing PG58IMG.zip files) at the HTC splash screen.
