I dont know if you guys have tried it but the Vlingo Beta app found in the Play Store is pretty darn good. Although not to many options yet because its a beta but it looks promising. A big plus for me is the way it sounds. Its a whole lot more pleasant sounding than all these other Siri wannabes. Try it out.

go here https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.vlingo.phoenix and sign in then download it worked for me
Samsung s voice is just a skinned version of this app. A voice even asks you to accept the vlingo terms of service when started.

But this one works without the network error. But is just in beta

Vlingo seems to have a small fraction of the commands that are supported in SVoice at the moment.
Hopefully they update Vlingo to support the rest of the commands!

Nice find. Thanks for the hook up
It's pretty wizard. I especially like the one-tap into compose GV TXT.
Been running this for a couple of days and have loving the widget, it's the one thing GV was missing.

I just double checked that I my psn email and password are correct, so that's not the problem.
EDIT: finally got it to sign in after a few more tries. seems to be just a little buggy.

Use a program like astro file manager. Make sure you set your phone to allow downloads of third party apps.

I can't find netflix on the market anymore. anyone else having this issue? I'm guessing this might be an isolated incident. I've had a couple market issues since flashing synergy 6/1 but I thought I had squashed them.

I'm pretty sure that it's due to it not working on the official Gingerbread release. I updated my wife's unrooted phone today, and Netflix stopped working. It would start the stream, but it would stop and then go back to the queue.
I just checked market and sure enough, its gone. Maybe good news is just around the corner for us who havent been able to run it.
I just called netflix their words were "Near Future" Which means yes they will fix sense 2.1

Very cool. Thanks for making that call. Thanks button mashed.
I wonder why they would take it off though. Why not just release an update when it's ready. Hmm. Oh well.

Because it would reduce call volume if people thought it was gone and new users wouldn't even know it existed.

I see. That makes sense. Makes me happy! The only draw back to this rom has been not having netflix. Hopefully that will be remedied soon.

After speaking with my Dad who didnt even know there was a Netflix App, decided to download it before it disappeared and the Market said that his EVO wasnt a supported phone. I am under the impression that Netflix dropped support for both 2.2 and 2.3 on the EVO until they can fix it for both.
hmmm i still have it in the market but heres a change
Currently Netflix playback is supported on the following phones:
• HTC Incredible with Android 2.2
• HTC Nexus One with Android 2.2, 2.3
• HTC G2 with Android 2.2
• Samsung Nexus S with Android 2.3
• Motorola Droid with Android 2.2
• LG Revolution with Android 2.2
• Casio G'zOne Commando C771 with Android 2.2

I noticed that, and trust your input. I'll never understand why some people just post stupid crap like this guy did. If I'd noticed it was his first post I wouldn't have bothered.
I have an older .apk for the NetFlix app and when I install it and open it, it tells me I HAVE to upgrade to continue, then searches the market and says requested item cannot be found, click OK and right back to the you must upgrade screen.. so it appears that the NetFlix app is gone completely for the Evo until the fix the 2.3 issue. Can anyone else confirm the same?
I noticed that too! This really sucks ! Now what am I going to do at work? Maybe its time to introduce ubuntu to the work place
why wouldn't it work on the new update? it works on cm7 and thats running 2.3.4 -.-

Have you tried running it recently (since the update?) Possibly if you were lucky enough to have the last version they had before they pulled it for the EVO then maybe it will still work for you, but the older version I have doesn't work.
I have the last version. When I tried playing anything it would load and say that netflix had not been activated on my device. Not that it worked to begin with, but that message is new to me.

Finally, they updated GV to support tablets, and it finally has Background Sync as well. Just FYI. I know it's posted at the end of the other GV thread, but I thought it deserved a new thread.
If install fails, uninstall the modded version first.
Finally!! Google voice is amazing. But too bad I still can't make calls on the tablet. Sometimes I wish I don't have to bring the tablet and my phone with me to the bathroom Everytime.

What a pointless post. Why don't you give some relevant info, whether you have the modded version installed, tried rebooting, etc. It's made for HC, not hacked for HC, so any problems are probably related to older versions.
Awesome, been using the hacked version for a while now.

works fine for me. is there anyway to activate it besides clicking the app icon? I tried saying 'hi galaxy' but it doesn't work
Update: some features don't really work like when you need to set up an alarm or save a memo. I guess it's because we don't have exact apk for the s voice to pull up.
It works for me. But there's a long delay each time it tries to process anything.

I think I have frozen too many things, because svoice is getting FC after few seconds after start...perhaps text to speech?
I running stock just root access on att hox. I installed just like any other app. I got only one fc from asking it to play music. Navigation worked like a charm.

apk works right from an install.
It's a little quirky, but it actually functions better than I expected it to.

No, you don't. Just tap and hold on the .apk file, in the opened menu scroll down and go to properties, from there you can change permissions.
Just leave check marks checked to:
User: read, write
Group: read
Other: read
