I'm going to sell my sgs4g soon, since I'm getting the S2. I want to revert back to stock, and I know my way around when flashing a new ROM, but frankly I don't know how to go back to stock, like, what ROM should I go back to, KB5? KD1? and then upgrade via kies to latest stock?
Or is there an updated stock ROM i could odin?
Also, what happens with lagfix? does it go back to stock status (i.e off) ?
I'm currently on AOSPStyle X, KJ6, 2.3.7, kernel 2.6.35.7-sms-jk6.... lagix on.
Also, I may need to format sdcard, since there's a patition for lagfix conversion to work 100% of time.

So I'm running fission, not entirely happy with it. Terrible battery life, and at least once a day my phone stops receiving texts until I restart it.
My problem is, I accidentally flashed an older recovery, and probably cannot use the backup of stock that I made with recovery version 3.0
What do I do?
Simply flash SBF and start over. Make sure you wipe everything after SBF flash or phone won't work properly. If you plan to stay stock, do not flash "stock" deodexed/rooted versions from Fission/others. They are neither better nor faster than stock rom. Simply freeze the unwanted stuff. Unless you plan to play with themes/etc. Then you will need deodexed rom. Not having original stock rom will prevent you from updating using official Motorola updates though. Your call.
i actually messed with it yesterday. i was able to flash my stock backup made with clockwork recovery 3.0, using 2.5.3
so everything is all better.
So guys since we have the choice which are u doing
unroot to stock gingerbread
flash to stock gingerbread
wait for the dev gingerbread
I'm getting ready to do all of the above...because I'm a crackflasher...and I have to try everything available, lol.]
Stuck on vacation
Maybe there will be a good rom worth upgrading to by the time I get back, but the baseband seems to be the biggest advantge. I'll have to do both.
I run Cyanogenmod, I'll just stick with that. Here soon they'll incorporate everything useful from it.
Well, nevermind...I restored stock, stock recovery, unrooted, tried to update, but found out that my phone is a 999DWP...so reflashed cwm, rerooted, and back to my cm7 nandroid.
Guess the G2x community isn't for a good pole.
IM definitely waiting on the devs to play with it.
Did anybody get the back to the future reference?
Hi, I'm new to flashing ROM's and wanted to give this a try, but I had a few questions (I searched and read the wiki, but I didn't see these specific questions):
I have the Samsung Galaxy S2 Skyrocket on ATT. I'm rooted on Stock GB 2.3.6
1. I wanted to try flashing this ROM([ROM][CyanogenMod 9 (unofficial)][TeamChopsticks][Alpha 1 - 4/26]), Can I come from gingerbread if I follow the instructions in post 1? Or do I need to have an ICS leak installed first?
2. I assume I can revert back to my rooted-stock ROM by using CWM with my current restore point?
3. If I restore the backup from step-2, does it restore the original radio (the UCLA3 radio)? Or am I stuck with the new one? Any disadvantes to just leaving the new one installed?
4. When flashing the new radio, is it just like flashing a ROM in CWM?
5. How would I get all my apps back on the custom ROM? (I know the contacts are linked to the google cloud) I have titanium backup pro installed now, but I read something about not restoring the apps across different ROMs?
6. If I decide to go back to my stock ROM after looking at a few custom ROMs, would I be able to get the ATT OTA updates? (I know I'd need to un-root and un-freeze all the bloatware, but I assume installing the custom ROM's would trigger the flash counter?)
7. I keep hearing about the "yellow triangle" when the flash counter is triggered. Does it only happen at boot and go away after that? Or is it always there?
Thanks in advance!

1) if you're a newb I wouldn't recommend flashing alpha versions of anything
2)You can revert back
3)No, flash a ginger radio before restoring
4)Yes, wipe cache/dalvik cache
5)You can restore apps accross the same OS, but I never do
6)Yes, if you're on official software. It wont trigger unless you flash with odin or sometimes a custom kernel like cm will trigger it. No big deal, we have a counter reset.
7)only at boot, we have counter reset, so no worries
Wow, that was a quick reply! Thanks.
Sorry if I'm dense, I just wanted to clarify two things before proceeding.
Re 1: I also saw another ROM I wanted to try, I guess I'll do that one ([ROM]SKY ICS--- 4.2D-9). Thanks for the heads up.
Re 3: From your response, am I correct to understand I can't use an ICS radio with GB? (it just wont work? or there's no advantage to keeping it?)
Re 5: Same OS meaning inside GB based ROMs or ICS based ROMs? If I go from stock GB to custom ICS, I need to re-download each app individually?

1) very good choice, I run it and it is outstanding.
3)they will have a RIL mismatch. You can use them by deleting the system folder out of it, but I would just use the la3 radio and flash that before the rom. After a full wipe, of course.
5)Right, it ensures everything will be clean and run right.
Inherited a Droid Charge running GummyCharged 2.1 from my housemate.
I want to switch to Eclipse 2.0. I know in order to run FP1 builds, you need to run stock kernel if you want wifi. Except, I also noticed that the PBJ kernel recently fixed the wifi issue.
I'm under the impression you're told to revert to stock, run OTA update, then flash your FP1 ROM so you have the latest stock kernel.
Or is there more to it than the kernel?
I'd rather skip the revert/flash/etc/etc, I updated to the latest CWM, made a backup, factory restored, wiped cache/dalvik, flashed ROM, flashed kernel, rebooted, everything seems fine (wifi working no issues). But... that doesn't mean that it is.
EDIT: Yeah, my baseband in About Phone shows i510.06 V.EE4 SCH-I510.EE1, which is what it was before. Can I get just the baseband?
Thanks!
By the way, I don't care about carrier signal at all, this phone got wet and no longer accepts SIM cards. The other functions still work, so I'm using it on wifi and I'm trying to re-purpose the device to be a portable offline GPS for hiking. But I did read that FP1 gets better GPS locks, which is part of why I want to run it.
U cant get the fp1 upgrade on a cstom rom. U have to go back to stock n get the ota upgrade. I suggest usin titanium to back up ur stuff then flash what u want. Stock fp1 or pjb 5/24 r both good, but u gta get back to factory first.

Actually, I figured "what you do do well" and I decided to follow the suggested directions. I used ODIN, restored to stock EP4... and couldn't get past the main screen. Can't read SIM cards, so can't get past the activate screen. I then flashed back an FP1 rom, the latest PBJ kernel, and [attempted] to use the EP4 to FP1 patch, which hung and failed.
It looks like if I want to get my baseband to FP1, I'll have to jump through hoops (maybe flashing a stock EP4 pre-rooted ROM from ODIN? maybe?) Regardless, since the CDMA antenna in this thing is useless anyway, I'm just gonna skip it.
Thank you for your reply!
Well, now that you have borked your phone a bit, go and download the EP4 ODIN package and flash it (in ODIN or SamsungPST). Might not be a bad idea to flash the PIT while you're at it. You'll probably have to flash CWM, and then PBJ from within CWM (stock kernel overwrites it) Then go and try flashing your ROM of choice again (cough *tweaked* cough), either in ODIN (with the respective package) or CWM. (again with the proper package).

thanks kvswim, that's pretty much exactly what I did yesterday. I'm even running Tweaked 2.1
It's too bad, I really prefer the theme of Eclipse, but I just couldn't handle the lack of TSM Parts.
Yes i was wondering on how to go back to stock gingerbread from aokp i am planning on returning the phone to get a new captivate but i dont want to ruin my phone also
do the jigs work on any andriod phone?
Click HERE and flash the KK4 with no bootloaders if you were previously on gingerbread before AOKP. (safer that way)
And yea, the jig will still work like always.
