Hi,
I'm sure you guys read about this:
http://www.engadget.com/2012/05/17/htc-confirms-one-x-multitasking-tweaks-in-sense-4/
http://www.theverge.com/2012/5/16/3024854/htc-one-x-multitasking-operating-sense
I was wondering if Sense 3.6 does this also? I am still on Android 2.3, Sense 3.0 stock. Not that I can multitask much anyway because I have less than 100mb free and Sense keeps reloading and killing all my apps.
If Sense 3.6 does not have this, will you guys still want Sense 4.0 if HTC ever release it for our phones?
No I don't think Sense 3.6 has such an aggressive task killer.
I'd still want Sense 4.0 as the task killing aggressiveness can be adjusted I believe.
No.
Sense 3.6 uses the regular ICS multitasking system.

I will want it too however just for the increased battery life. I'm don't really do any multitasking.

I've noticed with Sense 3.0, it was sluggish.. 3.5 seems so much faster, I also see a lot of Sense development for 3.5 just wondering what's everyones thoughts on Sense 3.5

like the bliss mod on it like the one in rcmix 3D. didnt really like sense and got out of it once the senseless and aosp roms were out. came back to try out 3.5 and i loved it mainly because of all tweaks these hard working devs are able to put in
The speed improvements came when HTC released their 2.3.4 update. Made everything a lot smoother. The 3.5 ROMs that I've tried are still slower than LeeDROiD and Pyramid 3D, which are still Sense 3.0

Greetings to all developers and super users, I'm just eager to know what are your opinions on the latest SenseUI on top of ICS.
In my opinion, the Sense 3.5 is just not made for ICS at all. It's just an emergency move made by HTC team to release Sense for ICS. This is due to other platforms which quickly developed their patch ICS upgrade for their devices. I't just an 'emergency landing' for HTC.
In Sense 3.6 they've fixed some minor stuff in 3.5 which doesn't fit well together with the ICS framework. BUt still, how the SenseUI in ICS gave an impression to me is that IT IS NOT WELL CONCEPTED! Not as beautiful as Sense 3.0 in GB compared to other manufaturers' UI.
So I'm just saying that I am really eager to see Sense 4.0 for ICS in the near future.
What say you guys?
if HTC had actually given it a bit more AOSP style to Sense with ICS, then it might be ok....but as it, it actually looks like poop in my honest opinion...hence I now run Virtuous Inquisition 3.0.0
True, I think at the moment, Mathias' design concept is more mature than HTC's. But the fact is that many feature in ICS is already adopted since Sense 3.0. So I think that Sense 4.0 will be a blast again
sense is awful... that is just my opinion
I don't mind a little bit of sense (Some comes in handy sometimes) but they basically killed the beauty of ICS with there **** sense overlay. At least color stuff correctly. It looks very hurried and just glued together on htcs part. With that said virtuous Inq took out all the crappy junk that HTC put in and made it great again.
I'm actually considering a move to Virtuous ROM. Because it's the best AOSP so far I saw plus everyone's been using that.
I agreed with the glued part. It is really like just glued in a hurry. Not like the usual SENSEUI..
Yes sense 4.0 will totally change Ics UI....we have to wait some days.
The question is WHEN...
there are some leaks about it.. but not convincing enough...
Just hope it will be epic as ever ^^
sense 3.5/3.6 doesnyt really fit to ics, htc got to rethink their vision of new sense, but first news gives us hope that htc has right direction
on the other hand i can't work without sense, its the most complex launcher and i've tried working without it, but it was pointless, always comming back to sense
Personally,i just want aosp based rom. I hate Sense and always did dating back from my old Wildfire lol.
Using HyperSense CM7 ATM
ok, after I tried using Virtuous 3.0.0, I decided to go back to ARHD.
reason??
Because after using the AOSP based ROM, I realized how Sense made life easier. Although I must say that the AOSP has better design than Sense 3.5/4.6, but there are still some functions which Sense came really handy with.
So mean while, I'm coming back to ARHD ^^
It's insulting. 3.6 is such a minor "upgrade" to 3.5 while 4.0 is a massive upgrade (no quotes) to 2.3.x, putting that ****lick overlay on top of AOSP totally kills it. That, and the gray color scheme introduced in 3.5 is aweful, it's so dull. Sense 3.0 is the last decent Sense.
I agree, actually maybe Sense 3.0 was so great is because it has huge improvement from the previous Sense.
I would love to have ICS stock camera app in htc sense..
i think sense 3.6 is just a quick update to shut all of us up about wanting ICS
after some time we'll get a better sense version...
remember sense 2.1? it was absolutely the same in froyo and gingerbread but when HTC announced the sensation it was rocking sense 3.0 and everyone was drooling over it
While the first pictures and videos of ICS emerged, I told my self "nah, that can't be it. They said they where about to make it look better... "
When ICS was officially announced, I was deeply disappointed, that it really looked as ugly as it did in the leaked versions.
So I'm really enjoying sense 3.6, even if I had hoped for more.

Personally Im not really looking forward to ICS with Sense 3.6. ICS is one thing but IMO Sense 3.6 isnt exactly different from Sense 3. The only thing I like about 3.6 is its camera but it isnt really a make or break decision for me.
If HTC rolls out ICS and Sense 4.0 for Sensation sometime later, I do hope they'll have better camera features (not over Sense 3 of course, even 3.6 camera trumps over 3.0 lol)
But I think Sense 3.6 is a compensation of ICS design. Because the original ICS has no menu button and Sensation has menu button.
hi. is there any difference in battery life on sense 3 and sense 3.5 rom?

Not really.
The difference come from the kernel that you use for your smartphone.
If your kernel is good, your battery life could be good.
HTC Sense 3.0 vs Sense 3.5
HTC is soon to release the version upgrade to its UI, HTC Sense. The new version is Sense 3.5, and it is reportedly spotted on HTC Bliss, a new HTC phone with global roaming capability to join Verizon’s CDMA phone line up in September 2011. The noteworthy difference between HTC Sense 3.0 and 3.5 is that 3.5 is compatible with older phones as well, whereas Sense 3.0 has hardware limitations, it’s not compatible with single core devices.
The other reported improvements in Sense 3.5 are the redesigned widgets, refreshed notification bar, and two new buttons at the bottom of the screen – a dedicated button for App tray and the other for phone. HTC, which is so fancy about the weather widget, also has improved it further, now its bigger and has more information.

Why the hell would you want to downgrade from Sense 4.0 to Sense 3.6......

Hell, I like the look of 3.6? Personal Preference i just wanted to know if its possible and you know its a nice OS i think.
I wouldn't expect much, unless you want to downgrade the whole OS to Gingerbread via a custom ROM (has that even been done already? Custom ROM with an OS downgrade from the original software?..). Sense 4 is tighly integrated with ICS, I don't think earlier Sense version will work with ICS - except maybe for single widgets/tools.
However, if Sense 4 is skinnable (don't know whether it is), I'd expect someone to create an "old Sense" theme sooner or later.

Dude,
You would NOT have to downgrade to gingerbread to get sense 3.6
Sense 3.6 is what comes with all the "older" HTC handsets being upgraded to ics. HTC wanted these handsets to look like their "old" sense (ie. 2.1 and 3.0/3.5) so as to not confuse their customers (ie. non techy) with something that looks different. Some poeple may prefer 3.6 as it comes with thing like the stock ics multitasking etc. At any rate, someone might want to do it "because they can".
Gingerbread is/was Sense 1.9, 2.1, 3.0 and 3.5
So sense 3.6 will work with ics, as it is only meant to work with ics, and on older / slower hardware.

Oh, I didn't realize that. I thought we were talking about the old Froyo/Gingerbread-based Sense on older devices, I completely forgot about them being upgraded to ICS too. In that case, yes, I guess 3.6 can be ported over from the Sensation or some other device.
What are the cons and pros of using sense 4.1 vs sense 3.6. Is there a battery life difference? Because i do like sense 4 and just flashed elegancia. But i don't want less battery life.
I find Sense 4 to be reaaaally laggy when compared to 3.6. And I also feel battery life is therefore a lot better on 3.6. No matter how much I want to use sense 4, the bad out weighs the good, for me atleast.
I Love the Speed of Sense 3.6 and the Beauty of Sense 4.1 !!!
Overall I preferred Sense 4.1, though its somewhat laggy to me of course. But have had no choice other than that !!!
I can't afford HTC One X/X+/ONE
Sense 4.x
Pros::
--Sense 4 GUI that looks damn awesome than Sense 3.6
-- Good Battery life in some Roms especially ViperS
-- Viper Sense tweaks(No one can beat this tweaks that Viper has developed)
--Good for daily driver
Cons::
--Laggy sometimes
--Multitasking, not as smooth as Sense 3.6 Roms
Sense 3.6
Pros::
--SPEED
--Good Multitasking
--Good for daily driver
Cons::
--Old fashioned GUI
--Less tweaks as compare to Sense 4 Roms
A funny FACT:: I always flash and set up the Sense 3.6 Rom for an hour, and then again somehow wipe that ROM and again Restore the Sense 4.1 ROM

I agree with hunt's points and I run 4.x ROMs on mine as well.
Battery life depends on a lot of factors like kernel choice, CPU and GPU frequencies, voltage. It also depends on how you use your phone (e.g., wifi, data, bluetooth), what apps you use and how long/often you run them, etc. One has to experiment and find the best balance between performance and battery life. All else the same, even if the battery life is better with Sense 3.6 ROMs , I personally still prefer 4.x ROMs for reasons hunt pointed out.
