What's the best ROM for HTC Desire HD - General Questions and Answers

Hey guise I am new to this forum and also to the Android world.
I have an HTC Desire HD phone. The ROM I am currently using is Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich. My brother put this ROM in the phone for me, I am nub but from now I am going to handle my phone. Basically I need a new ROM because the camera in this ROM doesn't work, well not necessarily the camera, but the cam recorder.
I really love this ROM, if there is a patch to fix to cam recorder, can you guise link me to it please, I would really appreicate it. If not, what's the best ROM to use where everything including the cam recorder works fine? I really need to get the cam recorder working, this phone has an awesome camera.
Thanks guise.

This should be posted in the DHD forum.
There is no 'best's ROM. Find a ROM that suits your personal needs, and that will be you best ROM.

I just want a new ROM where there are little bugs and the camera works. Ever since I had this phone, never had good luck with the camera.

I suggest you read through the Desire HD development section. Reading the ROM descriptions, reading user feedback comments, and testing for yourself are the best ways to determine which ROM best suits your needs.

[Q] Best Gingerbread Sense 2.1 ROM?

Hello i have over a month with my Inspire 4G, and im ready to move, since i did love Root features on my Motorola Milestone and want to try gingerbread.
So my requirements for a ROM are simple:
1. Gingerbread
2. Sense 2.1 (this is my first HTC and i love sense, but dont like the lag that produce sense 3 on the Inspire)
So based on that i have narrow down a few ROM checking over the devs forum,
LeeDrOiD 4G
Android Revolution HD
ClearDroid
Inspired Ace
So what you guys think?, which is the Best Gingerbread, Sense 2.1 ROM?
Im really hoping good opinions since im pretty new with my Inspire and not know much about those ROMs...
Thanks
Everyone's opinions will differ. I am running inspired ace and I think its great. Battery life is good and it runs very smooth. But your best bet is to try each of them for a few days. Make a backup of each one when you switch to the next. Then once you figure out which one you like the best just restore that backup. That's how I did it anyways. Flashing roms is one of my favorite things about being rooted. It's kind of an addiction. So have fun!

There is no best Rom, only best for you and only you can say which one is best for your device. If you would have searched you would know all best told threads are closed in sight.

[Q] Best ROM choice?

I just bought a MyTouch 4G Slide and I'm looking at the different ROM choices. My biggest two concerns are with camera function and battery life.
I have used Cyanogen on my past couple phones and have loved it, so I was looking at CM7 SelfKang. I can deal with only having 2x zoom and 720p video, but some of the comments mentioned poor battery life.
I have been reading into a couple different ROMs, but I'm not quite sure which one would be the best regarding both camera and battery aspects. I'm looking to get opinions from those of you who are more familiar with what is out there.
Thank you!

If you can get it to work right . some have no problems others do .. Rubix ICS 5.3 with the Sense camera is a awesome rom ... I had problems with it . others say it works great
If you want a nice, stable rom. That keeps all the stock feature, but with out the Sense look. Use Rubix ICS on Rootzwiki. It's based of the shipped stock rom. GB 2.3.4.
If you want ICS with working Video and Camera. Use any of Tbaldens ICS Roms but his CM9 Port. You losse 720p video, but really. One can manage with out 1080p. You need a class 6 or higher SD card for full 1080p, otherwsie it is 720p.
If you want a crazy fast Rom use the AOKP port by XMC Wildchild.
If you want a super fast stock rom, use BulletProof.
If you want Sense 3.0 use Rubix Sensation on XDA.
My Personal Fav is the Virtuious Senseless on Root, or PryoIce Senseless.

All Roms not using the CM7 kernel have amazing battery.

[Q] [Question] Will the proprietary ImageSense chip slow down development ?

i might pick up one of those things soon (i'm feeling serious G.A.S!!!), so i just want to know if this phone will see a lot of roms, considering the camera chip... if you think it'll slow down the development significantly, please leave a reply and explain yourself, i'll be very grateful. i'm coming from a desire z, is there anything i have to take into further consideration before buying ? cheers
For sense roms.. no. For AOSP roms, it's possible. Maybe in AOSP roms the ImageSense chip will just be ignored/disabled. I don't see it as a huge hinderance though, just a camera hinderance.
Debateable question. Currently loads of older phones still haven't got fully working camera on asop roms. It will be a 'long' time before the one s has a fully functioning cm9. For the while the no sense roms are sweet. The only difference is the settings....and a few other bits.development will kick in.there are devs working on it. As for the one s...its a beautiful piece of phone. Dont be put off by your asop wish...I love cm...but be honest the no sense roms are great till it arrives. If not Lee Droid is coming soon..so tweaks ahoy..

It's not because i need an aosp rom, i'm more concerned about longterm-upgrade-ability. If HTC decides to not include the imagechip technology in newer iterations of sense, would it be left behind?

Well they just developed it... I don't see them already leaving it behind especially with as beautiful the pictures turn out with if. I used it through the weekend and I'm very impressed with the quality. It my be a bit before it gets worked into rom development, but I don't think they are gonna drop it any time soon

MIUI ROM

Hello,
What are your thoughts about MIUI ROM's ? Why they are not popular? Well they look great, are they buggy or performance is much worse? Battery life? I think they are popular in asia or wherever east of the world?
Is there any good MIUI roms around? Thank you!
Nothing is wrong with Miui...it's been one of my favorite ROMs all on my devices. For some reason...it doesn't get a lot of support on the HOX. I tried the version on this phone but Google Voice does not work and I need it to work. Try it out...very smooth and fun to use...as long you don't need Google voice

MIUI used to be my daily driver. The reason I liked it so much was because it had the smoothness of jelly bean, but then the Sense JB came out and I'll admit I love that camera.
