I am looking for a program that I can use as a remote to control the music played on my XBOX. I have airplay but all that will do is let the xbox play the music on the phone, it still has to be controlled through the xbox.
I used the trial version of jamcast and was able to use that as a virtual sound card. I don't mind spending some money for a program, but 30 for that program is more than I want to play.
I really don't care if I am playing music from my phone, computer or even streaming a radio station, I just want to be able to control it from my phone and not have to carry a remote around the house with me. Any idea would be greatly appreciated.

i found 2player network music player, but can't get to see my xbox as where to stream my music to.

You mean you don't need the Xbox to be the player? If so, Winamp + aWARemote will do the job for you

He wants to stream music to his Xbox & needs to be able to control what music is playing via his phone rather than skipping tracks on his Xbox.
Edit: just found this:
How to Use 2player With an Xbox 360
2Player allows you to remotely control an Xbox 360 when the Xbox 360 is running Media Center (but not when running the the default Xbox 360 music player).
To launch Media Center on your Xbox 360, go to the Xbox Dashbord, and select Windows Media Center from the My Xbox menu. If you have not previously used Windows Media Center, you will be guided through the configuration process.
Once Media Center is running on your Xbox 360, you should be able to see an Xbox 360 Media Center Extender entry in the target device selection dialog of 2player.

Anyone know how actually get AllShare to work? Specifically with an xbox that I am unable to configure with windows media center (as I use a mac).
I'd love to be able to play HD videos and music on my tv, but but I haven't been able to get it to work thus far.
thanks.
With the Xbox I had to be inside of the Windows Media Center tab (on the Xbox). Then instead of just "Xbox 360" popping up inside of AllShare you get "Xbox Media Center" (or similiar, not at home). Then you just share to that.
What codec/format must the videos be in. I have been trying to connect to my server running tversity and nothing seems to work. I can browse my media but when I click a video I would like to watch I just get the "Sorry, this video cannot be played"
I have a Samsung TV with AllShare on it.
I can stream my movies I ripped and put on the phone just fine (although I don't have FFWD/RWD control)
The stupid thing is it will not play the phone HD video I took. It loads the video and then locks after the first 1 sec. Its like the phone's video isn't supported by the TV.
Try Orb.com, much better solution

I could only get it to work with windows media center. You can try another media app to act as a server and that might work without a PC. There is one called imedashare, try that.
You could run a virtual machine on your mac, then run windows and setup windows media center. But i don't like the way it works with media center.
Let me know if you get it to work without mediacenter.
I was able to play an AVI file stored on Windows 7 Media Center PC - but it would not play any of my recorded shows - DVR-MS or WTV.
If I have to convert them all to MP4 or AVI, i might as well just copy them over locally as Windows down converts things that are streamed.
I could stream a video I recorded on the phone back to a windows 7 PC - that was sort of cool - 720P HD looked nice.
I have developed a couple of remotes, to control your favorite player.
- MPC - Remote: A remote control to use Media Player Classic
- VLC - Remote: A remote to control your VLC-Player
- FooMote: A remote control to use it with foobar2000
More information on our blog banamalon.net
I am also willingly to make some remotes for other players, just tell me which players are you using.
Any (feature) suggestions are welcome. Report any bugs, so that I am able to fix them.
I'm currently use Foomote. Really useful app to control music on my PC without having to go on my PC to change the tracks playing.

Do you have any plans to make a remote for Windows Media Centre and/or MediaMonkey? That would be awesome!
I think that a western digital live player remote would be popular. Not sure how to implement it but maybe you can reach the player thru a home network via wifi

About the western digital live player - I don't know how to test that.
Do you know if they provide a webinterface? If so I think it would be no problem, but someone has to test it first
I'm a little confused shouldn't about Smartshare, shouldn't it show my device on my Xbox 360 , when its on the same Lan (wifi) ?
So I did the basics..
Connected the G2x via Wifi on the same LAN as my Xbox 360
When to MENU >> SETTINGS >> WIRELESS & NETWORKS >>SMARTSHARE [enabled]
SMARTSHARE Settings..
Always allow request [enabled]
pictures [enabled]
Video [enabled]
Sharing Request .. IP's appear..
But when I go to Xbobx videos or Photos the Device name doesn't appear.... any clues has anyone connected to xbox?
never tried it when i had my 360 i know it worked for the ps3 so it should work maybe you have to do some kind of setting with the 360 to accept it
Smartshare to Xbox 360 yet?
Has anyone been able to use the smartshare app on their G2X to show pictures, video, or music on their xbox 360 yet?
I used the iMediaShare app successfully on the xbox 360. It shows up automatically under the Video Library, Music Library, and Picture Library pages on the xbox.

It works good for pics and music but I was unable to stream videos...can you stream videos to your xbox???
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App
you mean with iMediaShare app?
If you mean the iMediaShare app I was able to stream videos that were stored on my phone to the xbox but not streaming video like youtube, NASA, revision3 etc.
The xbox would show some message like "this video cannot be played" or similar.
I was able to test the factory SmartShare app on my PS3 and it works pretty dang flawlessly, even with full 1080 resolution sample videos the phone comes with from NVidia. I still don't understand what I'm missing on the Xbox because like the first poster said I can see the IP address of my Xbox show up in the list at the bottom of the SmartShare settings page on my Phone and I can choose to ALLOW it but nothing shows up in the Pictures, Video, or Music pages on the Xbox.
What other step could there be on the Xbox?
Same here, I can stream videos on my phone but not youtube etc...
Smartshare I couldn't get to work either.

could it be that xbox is not DLNA?
I watched a video not long ago of playing music with your HTC sensation through the Playstation 3 via DLNA. I've had no luck on setting it up. Has anyone did this and if so how?
No idea how to setup DLNA with a PS3, I am having problems with my Sony BDP-S570. Any help is appreciated.
I was wondering this too, when i use connected media app and select video my Tv shows up , but when I select it as a player it always state that its unresponsive, tv doesnt show the phone as a media server either
Download Twonky app from market. Open app, go through settings tv/other device should pick up phone. Any probs let me know...
Not sure about ps3 but i have used 2 player (free market app) to play music on a variety of DLNA devices.
Oops didn't see this was an old thread that got bumped!
Use the app "Connected Media"
I am using Imediashare from market, easy to setup.. work with music, photos and videos
Great!

Works like a charm!!!
You can even share online content
Has anyone had any luck sharing media to an Xbox 360? I can stream photos only, using the connected media app, via WMP on my Win7 notebook.
I'd like to know if it's possible to share stuff (photos, music + videos) directly to my XB, using DLNA or not, either way.

I use doubletwist with airsync, it allows you to airshare to ps3 and xbox360 and i think a few others too
I've. Used all apps here but no one of these are working on a Samsung home cinema system.

It's dead easy (when you know how, and for Microsoft's definition of "dead easy")
First, you need to set your Xbox up as a Media Center extender, so with both the Xbox and your computer on the network and no firewall blocking anything between them:
1. On the 360 start Media Center, it will give you a numeric code
2. On the computer start Media Center and add an extender (tasks, then along to the right)
3. Enter the code the 360 displays and you should now have the 360 accessing the MC of your computer (you can close MC on the computer)
4. Open Connected Media on your phone and select the type of media you fancy streaming
5. Select the media (for photos, it starts a slideshow starting from the pic you select, if your pics are too large then they won't show for long due to their loading times, but you can pause them on the phone and manually go through them), you should then be taken to the player screen where you can select the "Xbox 360 Media Center Extender" and done
See? Wasn't what was required obvious?
Oh you'll need your computer on whenever you want to use the 360 as a MCE, but you don't need to log in (with W7 at least - the MCE logs in with it's own account in the background).
Basically, the 360 doesn't enter DLNA mode unless it's acting as a MCE, of course there's always the chance MS will release an update that allows DLNA without needing MC on a PC, but I wouldn't hold your breath.
So I noticed HTC's Connected Media App now available for my HTC arrive.
I downloaded and have gotten it to stream to my XBox 360. Here's what to do for those interested.
Requirements:
1. HTC arrive with Mango
2. HTC's connected media app
3. Xbox 360
4. PC with Windows Media Center
What to do:
1. Make sure all devices are on the same wifi network.
2. Connect your pc's Windows Media Center to the XBox 360
3. Start Media Center on the XBox 360
4. Start the connected media app
5. browe music artist, albums, songs whatever
6. push the output button on the bottom and select the xbox
7. find some music to play
On my Arrive the app isn't seeing any of my videos so I don't know if video streaming is supported.Pictures are working though. Also the streaming worked with less interuptions when my Arrive was plugged into a power source.
Enjoy
Update
Update: I was unable to do video because all my vids were drm protected zune stuff. So no streaming DRM music or videos. Also, I started having problems finding my 360 with the app. I have now found it helpful to select media servers from the main screen and then select output on the bottom of the screen.
Let me know if you have any questions, comments, or suggestions.
