That doesn't say anything about what it is on. EP4 and FP1 are both 2.3.6, but FP1 is probably 4-5 months newer.
If he doesnt want to try a custom rom, tell him to at least go to 'about phone' and click on 'check for updates' to make sure he is on the lastest, this should at least help with the data connections

Just leave it alone. It is probably just a bad location and/or building.
If baseband, firmware & kernel all FP1 then he is current. Rooting and debloating will make it faster. The devs have custom roms, kernels and themes making it even better, but you'll be diving in deeper than you might want.

I'm still getting horrible speeds as well with this gb leak.
I'm not certain its the lte_radio.bin though, what quadrant score are you getting?

Ok so i flashed my phone with the leaked gingerbreak 2.3.6 but now people are saying it was courpt. and stuff. Is there any way i can downgrade?

Its almost impossible to brick this phone....if u can get to recovery do a complete wipe and flash another rom ...if not use gtg unbrick in infuse super thread to go back to stock or one of the rooted Odin packages...

only uckk4 is corrupt. that's the one that dropped today. all the other leaks are working. look for uckk3, or better yet get the phone recovered with the stock package, get cwm, (I'd use the defuse kernel oneclick heimdall, quickest way to get cwm from stock) then flash caty rom or victory rom which will be rooted.

I have a small panic attack when I think of people flashing ROMs without knowing how to restore/unbrick. Especially leaks.

When we get the fixed gb update and I update while I have a rom will it take me back to stock or will I have to flash stock to update?

Any new ROM, unless its an update specific to your ROM made by your ROM maker, it is nearly always recommended to clean flash it (need not go to stock).
Just wait til the update is implemented in the ROM. Done.

Im a retard, I meant that i flashed 4 different kernels. I just had to restore my stock backup so now i am back on 2.3.5 rooted. I just want to try a different kernel and it seems like they all just keep getting stuck at the boot screen. They actually freeze, no animation or anything. I let them sit for 15 minutes each time.
You have to use the right radio because a gb radio doesnt work with an ics rom. And the kernel is the same way

La3 was 2.3.6 Rom so your baseband should be fine for faux kernel

Wipe cache and dalvik cache
Flash the kj2 radio
Wait 30 seconds and flash it again
Then try flashing faux kernel and wait 30 seconds before rebooting system.

I wasn't sure if midnightninja posted that - nice. That being said, that file will only work if you are on the fp5 baseband - I don't have a link handy but there is a similar file to go from fp1 to fp5 before flashing the one midnight posted.
