I wanted to put some music on my sd card and i turned off my xda and took the sdcard and put it in my usb1.1 6-1 flash reader. Then I noticed that it was filled with odd corrupt files. It looked as if my valid programs on the SD card, mainly those installed using 'choose SD' in activesync, were dead
the sd is 256MB and 3 of the corrupted files in the root of the sd card
claim to be 1.3GB
I didn't format the sdcard when i got it the xda could read it just fine and i copied files from my mem to the SDflash and later on used activesync to install on it. So since this all happen after I put the sdflash in the flash reader. Could it be that causing it ?
This is not on a 2003 ROM so it's not related to any of those issues.
I make sure that before I remove my sd card from the card reader that I right click on the drive in "my computer" and click "eject", this seems to flush any cached or delayed write files and close any open files, give it a try and see if it prevent it happening again.
well i doubt thats the problem because i noticed those corrupted files when i plug'd the sdcard into the PC not when i put it back into the xda
i dident eject the card before taking out the sdcard of the pc
but i did turn off the pc which should result in pretty much the same thing
how do you guys take out the Micro SD card from the phone....do u guys just push the card and it eject or how? I can't seem to find a way to do it? Could my unit/device be bad?? please help thanks
Lately I've been having problems with installing apk files from my sd card. I connect my HTC Desire Z to the pc, copy the apk file to my sd card, disconnect my phone properly from the pc, go into my sd card using es file explorer, locate the apk file i just copied, try to install it but it says Parse error: There is a problem parsing the package.
what the hell do i do??
Sounds like your microSD card is about to go out. Copy the contents to your pc, then do a full reformat of the card and put the stuff back. That might help temporarily but if it really is about to die you'll need a new one at some point obviously.
I did a full reformat of my sd card last night, put everything back in to the card an then today it just effed up again
Have you tried the Easy Installer ap from the Market? It's free. It helps when you install apk from SD card. There is also a possibility that the apk you downloaded was corrupted. Try downloading it from a different site.
Hope this help.
i tried that, at first i put in 1 app and opened it using the app u insisted, but then when i put in other apps, nothing worked as in they werent even there listed
I recently bought a 16GB card for my G2X, and I started downloading more of my music directly to the phone. The problem is, I can't seem to figure out how to move my music to the External SD. I tried to use Astro, but when I selected the Amazon MP3 folder and tried to copy it to the External SD, I got a move error.
Now that I look further, I can't seem to do SQUAT with the external SD. I see it listed in SD and phone storage, but I can't move anything to it with Apps2SD or with the native GB app manager. Am I just missing something?
Are you rooted? If so, try using a Root File Explorer, such as SUFBS or Root Explorer.
I am not. Do I really need to root to use that external SD slot?

No, but I just figured, you'd be able to have SU Access, hence, more permissions in Android to move files.
Just try a different file manager from the market. I always had trouble with Astro when moving files to the external sdcard. Anttek File Explorer and Super Manager are two good ones and they're both free.
First thing you do is unmount you external sd card in the sd card settings of the phone and then take it out right away after it says unmounte dof corse then reinstall it and wait till it is done scanning it then see if that works. If not then I would try a different card one that you know works in something else and also try that on in a different device like your pc and see if it workes there this way you can determin if the card is broken or if the phone slot is brokem and if the phone seems to be broken I would try a factory reset.
Thanks, Phburks, I tried Super Manager and that seems to be moving it just fine!
I just rooted my Nook Tablet and everything seemed to install okay. The problem is that when I download a app like MX video player or andftp, they give me an error message saying that permissions are denied to this location. The MX video player will not even open because it says that "SD card is not present". Has anyone else had this problem? And how can I fix this? I followed this instructions. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1354487
Thanks
is the sdcard storage usable?
use a filemanager of your choice and browse to /mnt/sdcard
Thats the thing. There is no extra sd card. I am just trying to use the internal l memory.
The internal memory is called sdcard usually.
Check "/mnt/sdcard" that should be the internal memory.
I used a filer manager to view that folder and the manager says that the sd card is not mounted. Also the permissions on the folder are d --. How do I allow programs to use /mnt/sdcard?
Has anyone else had this problem with their nook? I can barely use any appear after rooting.
I have the same problem =(. I want to use the internal memory but whenever i download it says "An SD card is required to download *******.apk."
Exact same issue I am having. I will probably just return it and try something else.
I think this post is the answer to our problems.

I have the Nook Table. It is rooted, with superuser and root explorer on it. I put a 32GB SD Card into it. The B&N Storage avail is 11.87GB. The B&N settings shows the "Other Storage Avail" is 1GB. The B&N Storage sees the SD Card with 116MB avail.
When I check with the root explorer, it also shows the SD card size as 116MB. When I try to install a file from the market larger than 116MB, it says not enough room. Why can't I see and use the full 32GB?
Any suggestions as to how I fix this would be appreciated.
Cool. So do you know how to get access to the 11 GB that is on there?
As far as I can see, the Nook automatically puts user input data, such as My Files into that area. When I got into My Files, it shows 120MB used, 1004MB remaining.

I know that the 1 GB area gets used, but how do we gain access to the nooks 11GB memory location?
If you open the settings, device info, you will see "B&N Content Storage Available (for items purchased from B&N.)" So B&N downloads only go there.
I used the nook in native mode to upload a book to B&N Books, but I don't remember how I did it. Trying too many things. These downloads are apparently the only ones that the nook's reader will remember you are reading to resume.
I am now using Root Explorer to look over the folder structure.
In folder \data\books, there is 11GB avail. I am not sure how to find any files moved there for reading however.
In folder \data\media\B&N downloads, there is 11GB avail. I am not sure how to find any files moved there for reading however.
In folder \media\... there is 1GB available. You can move files to \media\My Files and store them here. You can see these from the B&N Library if the My Files folder is used. This works from the reader.
But I have not found how to repeatedly use the 11GB space, yet. Will keep you posted. If anyone else figures it out, please post here.
Okay thanks. I am going to look into to it right now.
i had that same problem try this, Un-root, factory reset after first boot do not setup, do the factory reset again. then re-root. shut all the way off wait a few then reboot, should work
If your Micro SD card is showing less than the actual amount of memory e.g., my 32GB showed 116MB, hook the BN to your PC. When it shows in the explorer and SD Formatter on the PC, then use SD Formatter to check the size and verify the drive letter. If there is a large unallocated space on the SD Card, it needs to be re-formatted so the boot area is the whole disk.
After formatting, SD Formatter should show the whole size. Unplug it, and the nook should say it has detected a SD Card which needs formatting. Let the nook format the SD Card. The nook will see the SD card but any apps will say the card is not mounted.
So power down the nook and power backup. Then it will mount the card and it is fully useable. (At least this worked for me.)
It should not be necessary to factory reset the nook. However, this will loose any data, documents, music etc on the SD Card. So make sure you move them to the PC before reformatting the SD Card.

As far I can tell from googling, there is no way to access the 12GB B&N partition. I have see suggestions that a android partition manager can convert the 16GB from its present 1GB and 12GB to something like 5GB and 8GB so that you can put your stuff in the 5GB partition.
Notice that 1+12=13GB. So there is 3GB not showing, and does not show in Root Explorer either. It is probably a closed OS partition which would explain why it does not show up.
I just got my nook & had several issues getting it rooted finally 2nite I got it to load all the way & Now it is telling me I have no SD card to finish off loading Titanium Any ideas would be great! Happy new year to all
Also forgot 2 say I had tried 4 different sd cards. From 2GB - 32GB. All were empty, 2 were formatted. All 4 show up as being there even I can open them on the book. I am confused
I went to Wal-Mart and picked up a 64GB SD card. I just purchased the tablet yesterday and rooted it using towelroot but that's all I've done. I put the SD card in and it's recognized and showing the correct available space. I'm able to create a file using ESFile explorer but I can't do anything with it. I tried a couple torrent clients to download files to the SD card and it keeps saying unable to write to folder or that it's write protected. When in file explorer I can create a file and under properties it does show it's able to be written to. I also have downloaded and tried the kitkat SD card fix app. I've gotten pretty frustrated with it so just did a complete factory reset and going to start from scratch. I was able to move apps to SD card using an app but that's all I could do. I'd really like to put any/all downloaded apps and files on the SD card since I only have a 16GB version.
Any ideas what I can do?

Well just an update after doing a factory reset everything seems to work now, of course i get to download everything again. I think it might have had something to do with the OTA update. After doing the factory reset it kept the update. Now I can freely move to and from the SD card so all is good.
FYI, since you are rooted I would suggest installing the Xposed Framework and then install the "HandleExternalStorage" module, the KitKat update cripples external SD card access so file managers, emulators, and the like can no longer write to the SD card. Installing this module re-enables external SD card read/write access for all applications, it is not the device. There is also an app on the Play Store call 'SDFix: KitKat Writable MicroSD' which accomplishes the same thing, however the Xposed module is much safer as it can be enabled and disabled at will. Simply install the module, enable it, and that's it.
