Hello. I am running Miui 112160. And I like auto brightness but when I'm at school I like having my brightness on low so now one can see my phone. Well I can't. I turn down the brightness all the way and it's all the way up on high? No matter what app I use to turn it down (Widgets, apps ect.) It doest work. I would really love to be able to use my brightness. Thx

Hi!
We all know that Motorola changed the brightness settings in 2.2.2 so the screen is on 100% less bright then on 2.1 (eclair).
The same thing is on CM7.1 which I use.
So my question is, is there any way to "over"bright Defy-s screen? Or a way to use eclair screen brightness settings on CM7? I need more brightness, that's why I'm asking
Please reply, mihovil13.

I would greatly appreciate this if it can b done.
Anyone knows how?
I must say, I have not noticed a decrease in brightness at all.. Is there some proof? Did someone measure the strength, in lumen for instance?
My Defy shipped with froyo so idk about 2.1 but when i toggle brightness settings auto seemes to go just a little higher then full brightness for a sec so it does seem possible but i have no idea how. BTW im using CM7

Activate automatic brightness and edit the brightness levels to give full brightness (255) earlier or for all levels. The Motorola kernel enables a different brightness scaling (exponential instead of linear) when using the light sensor for whatever reason, which allows a higher total brightness as a side effect.

Still didn't manage to do this...
I've measured, on CM7.1 Ep3 rls max brightness is equal to 70% brightness on official 2.2.2 or 2.3.6

Ah that explains! I use a toggle to easily switch between auto and 100% brightness because in some circumstances the screen is hard to read (most notably when standing in the shade but close to an area with bright sunlight). I always noticed the difference in max brightness between both modes and apparently it has some mathematical reason.

Is it possible to tweak my setting so that my phone would recognize max brightness at 50% instead of 100%?
I like to control the brightness of my phone using the widget(setting Dim&100%), but 100% is too bright. the other options are Dim,40%,100%,auto which is a bit inconvenient when i wan to go back to dim from 40%.
I know this is not really an issue but is the a way to tweak(without installing any program from the market)?
Don't think that is possible. I think the max you can set in the settings, is the max the device pixels can go.

Go to settings-screen(or display) - and set there brightness you need.Without root and developer skills you aren't able to do that.
ok then.. thanks guys.. i thought it had something to do with the back light, any went to market and found a nice little widget that give me control over what i wan.
Thanks for taking ur time and replying...
Check this program. That's widget, where you can manually set requirement brightness
Does anyone know how to prevent the Camera app from forcing 100% screen brightness? It really is blinding for me especially at night.
Thanks
I can't help if you are on stock software, but I figured I would throw down a tip for CM10, since thats what I run. There is an option to allow screen dimming. I believe by default, once a screen brightness increases on android the only way to lower it is by cycling the screen. The option in CM10 allows the OS to dim the screen w/o turning the screen off.
Hi guys, using my Nexus 5 I noticed the brightness was very inconsistent, even with auto brightness turned off the screen seems to dim occasionally and then go back to full brightness during use.
Have you noticed it too, and is there any way to stop it from happening? I would really like to be able to enjoy the beautiful screen at full brightness without it going dim randomly, thanks.

Yes I noticed it too, but don't know if it is a software bug or a feature to prevent from overheating (like Samsung devices do) or a hardware problem. It is quite annoying!
I understand when using the stock autobrightness you can sometimes get the screen to go to around 600 nits, but I've noticed it's very hard to get it there. You basically have to be directly under the sun.
I would like to use an auto brightness app so I can make the dimming less aggressive, but I also don't want to lose the 600 nits feature. Anyone found a solution?
