What?
I understood, he's looking for an app or something to route an existing wifi connection through his phone via i'm assuming Bluetooth or usb to his computer.
Unfortunately I don't know of any, but I'll hunt and see if I can find anything for you

Okay guys, I have a new one for you.
I live on campus with no possibility to have my own network because the school won't allow us to have anything else than their network..
This is one major problem because my PS3 won't connect to that network, is there any way I can use my phone (i9505, rooted) or anything else to make a "fake" network out of the eduroam-network to connect my PS3 to? Any help is appreciated

So my cousin has unlimited data plan and he enables his wifi tethering but it doesn't pull up on the list when my phone is scanning so I load up my atrix and it shows up on that... Kinda messed up if you ask me.
Any ideas of how to fix that issue?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997R
Not sure if it is the same issue but I had the same problem with the galaxy tab. I for found the fix in the galaxy tab forum here on xda. It involved replacing 1 file and worked great after that. Search for "ad hoc" on xda and you will find it.

I searched but could not find the answer. What file are needed for WiFi? Can I copy ones from a JVQ rom to a JVT rom? My wifi keeps dropping out on Juwe's Smart Edition rom that I using Hellraiser 1.0 on.
Does it get stuck on "obtaining IP address?"

No, it just randomy goes off. Its not my router. I think it has something to do with the rom I was trying to port. DlevROM wifi works great, so does this one if it stays on. Went off three times since I started typing this. I wonder if my data can shut of my wifi? I tried the wifi fixer from market , but no sucess.

So it connects and disconnects a lot right? Go to my thread called [Q] Wifi issues. I believe we had the same problem.

I already tried the wifi fixing apps. No luck. I know its related to Juwe's Rom because it does not happen on DlevRom.
Help? I know it has something to do with dhcpcd and the wifi folder, kernel and probably something else, but I can't figure it out.

Anyone with some knowledge about wifi please help. Need guidance.
So i called samsung about this issue today because this is the 2nd infuse with same wifi issues and both were stock. This one now is rooted with dlev rom. Still same issue. I refer people to call samsung everyday for this issue when they call in. Samsung emailed me the shipping label to send via ups to the repair place. 5 to 7 days for them to fix it he said. Dont let anyone say its your router. Its not its the wifi chip in the phone.

Are you talking about the market giving you a warning that the file may be too large to download over mobile data? If so, I got that message for World of Goo (~50mb; had wifi symbol in market) and I just pressed OK and it started downloading over 4G.

I have a fix for this. It just depends on what your trying to do with the wifi.

What you asked is impossible (to trick the phone and make it think its connected)
Create wifi access point with your phone and then connect there!
Thats what you want and what problaly dont working but use search...in Neo or Arc forum is 1thread and long discussion how and is it possible.
Cheers

Is that even possible? My phone disables wifi when making a hot spot also i'm sure since the wifi is being used to broadcast it can't be used to connect to any
Swyped from just about every ROM in the HD2 section
Are you talking about downloading from the market, cuz unless your carrier blocks it, I've never found anything on the market I can't download over mobile data (even if it gives me the warning dialog). If it's not in the market, I've downloaded files like 900 mb or more. Not sure what the problem is unless it's your carrier, in which case, whatever you do to trick your phone still won't trick the provider, I think.

buy a $15 wireless router. Tada.
I think he's talking about games from like gameloft and stuff, That require wifi only to download the extra game data. That's what I got from of his post at least. And to answer his question... I have no idea.

Hello. I am really new to all this and I have a problem that I can't seem to find similar posts explaining or having the same issue. I have the supercm7 v1 rom on my infuse4g and the mobile hotspots won't work. A user can connect to it and we even saw that he could get an IP address and DNS was working. But no data, cannot load any webpages or anything. I looked at the apn settings and played around with them with different suggestions with no luck. Any ideas? Thank you

Does anyone know how to get an open NAT or get upnp with Android WIFI Tether or any other tethering??
I am using my Galaxy S3 to play on XBOX LIVE and it really sucks not having open NAT. Tons of problems. Can't play with friends, party's don't work, etc. This is now my primary internet and I get like 70-90MS even... but without this working I'm sort of out of luck =(
If anyone can help point me in the right direction, or anything I would GREATLY appreciate it. Thanks!

I don't think you can open or close NAT on your phone.
I've had this problem with my router and I fixed it with port forwarding, but I don't believe you can forward ports on your phone.
As far as UPnP goes I don't think you can enable that as well.
Your best bet (probably) would be to plug a router into your phone somehow and then enabled UPnP and port forwarding on it through router settings.
Using a crossover cable I once got it to work. But since then I can't figure out why it won't. I used a crossover cable from my pc to my xbox and connected my pc wirelessly to the phone.
as described in this thread.

RE:
Have you tried using a router/modem with a crossover cable?
No. Do you mean with Windows internet sharing?
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda premium
No, I literally mean plugging a cable from your phone directly into a router/modem and broadcasting a WiFi network.
So how do I get a CAT 5 from my phone to the router? =)
How did you plug your phone into your xbox?
Either through wireless tethering, or connect laptop to phone via wireless or usb cable, then run a crossover cable to x box and use Windows connection sharing. Once upon a time I actually got this to give me open nat, but it was several months ago and I can't figure it out

Have you tried plugging something like this from your phone into your router's internet port?

Not sure if that will actually work, but worth a try.
I don't see how that would fix the problem.

It would work like a wired tether I believe.
