Ota trouble - HTC Sensation

I downloaded the ICS ota today and when I got to install it... My phone just reboots to the triangle with exclamation point in it and the android... But it won't go any further than that.... Is that how itbia suppose to do???? Also my home, menu, back, and search all vibrate when I touch them.... Can someone give me a clue if what is going on

I can hold volume down and power to get to the boot loader then go to Clockmod recovery from there... I just tried to install the ota again and it seems to start to install (it shows the progress bar) then it stops and just shows the Triangle with exclamation point in it and Andy

If you read any of the instructions, and I'm sure you would say that you did, you would know that you cant install ota on a rooted phone. But you have no idea what I'm talking about.

Think It's because of clockworkmod....if you're rooted...

Yea, your right I dont cuz I have only had my Sensation for a week and I was trying to finish to rooting process but I had to wait on my 32gb sd card to come in before I could finish and then the ota came out... So now I'm confused about how to unroot, I can't figure out which RUU to flash to my phone

Do s-off and flash any rom u want even if if it was ota for xe like my room now go for it
Sent from my HTC Sensation XE with Beats Audio Z715e using XDA

you need to have the correct firmware for the rom you want to flash. If its a gb rom its different firmwear then a ics rom . The ics rom uses 3.32 firmware.
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using xda premium

If you are already s off then run this ruu, only run this ruu if you are on gb and already s off otherwise you have to do the wire trick to s off and it don't sound too easy. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1654347 : after that recovery and root. Takes about 15 minutes. http://www.techsliver.com/how-to-s-...covery-on-htc-sensation-with-hboot-1.27.0000/ the ruu is the latest ics rom from T-Mobile us.
---------- Post added at 05:25 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:55 PM ----------
And as far as beats audio goes, its just a non adjustable eq setting. Just download an eq app from the market so you can tailor the sound to you your liking. That beats audio on the phone is just a marketing gimmick.

So I flashed the Tmo ICS firmware with Clockmod recovery and after it finished installing I rebooted and my phone got stuck in a boot loop... I can figure out what I did wrong.. Please help
Sent from My $40 Sensation

Did you flash the ruu or the zip from clockwork? If you did it in clockwork then I'm guessing you still have 1.45 firmware. You need 3.32 firmware for ics. The ruu flashes everything.

use this to get back to stock GB download the 1.50.531.1 PG58IMG.zip, you will keep S=OFF with bootloader locked but that is fine. put it in the root of the sdcard, if you want to get the OTA ICS
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1630631
or you can run the ICS RUU from your PC to get to stock TMOUS ICS

ICS testing

Hello,
I just got a mail from HTC Elevate saying:
Who here wants an ICE CREAM SANDWICH? We do! Hopefully you do, too. We're happy to announce the first round of software previews in HTC elevate and you are in the first group of folks who will be able to participate!
To get this rolling, we'll need you to tell us some information about your device. Once we have this info, assuming it's all 100% accurate, we'll be able to push ICS (Ice Cream Sandwich) straight to you via HTC's software distribution server- like magic!
To get started, head into the ACTIVITY now.
Cheers!

OP said they had the phone S-OFF but still running stock ROM - wouldn't the S-OFF be an issue for warranty?
Maybe the OTA update couldn't or didn't properly update the radio/bootloader/recovery segment - that would cause an ICS ROM to fail boot. I think trying to reflash the old stock ROM, or a GB-based custom one, is the first thing to try. Failing that, maybe manually flash the appropriate ICS firmware/radio package for the OTA ROM (see this thread)

Im maybe experiencing the same problem. Here's what happened. I was using internet-pass-through with my Sensation XE for me download games and saw in my notifications that there's an available system update which is the android 4.0, etc. I downloaded the file and installed it but right after i got stucked with picture of an android and beside it is a exclamation point in a triangle. I removed the batt and turned on the phone and nothing happened, nothing new. So, I searched in youtube and saw a way of updating ICS in my phone. My phone had S-off but still using Stock rom. I entered the bootloader then CWM then formatted the system, cache, then tried to update to ICS since i got the zip file already in my SDcard. After then, the installation was aborted, it says cannot fine system/build.prop or something. I rebooted my fone and I got stucked up with the HTC logo and white screen. Omg please help me. I'm crying. I just bought the fone. :'(

[Q] HTC Sensation XE Stock RUU

Hi guys i have a sensation XE that has been running ARHD for about three months. A couple of my apps wont download from the market as it says not compatible with our device however they worked before i rooted and changed roms.
Now the ICS official update has been released by HTC i was hoping to return to stock And carry out the official htc ics update to see if that solves the problem with the aps If any knows how i do this please get in touch? i know i need an ruu but cant find one that works.

Those are test RUU not final release 3.32.401.5 (Sensation) and 3.32.401.105 (Sensation XE).
In order to get official OTA need to revert to stock GB rom with stock recovery and original CID. S-Off or S-On doesn't matter.
For the OP: if you are on a custom ICS rom and attempt to run a GB RUU will give you error.
You need to download the right RUU and extract rom.zip out of it. Rename rom.zip to PG58IMG.zip and flash it from bootloader.
If unbranded european, it should be RUU_Pyramid_LE_HTC_Europe_1.72.401.1

Find an Android Forum in your own country and search there for a theme on "S-OFF HBOOT-1.18" and read in you own language. It is pretty easy! Trust me, you are quite lucky to have HBOOT-1.18 in these days. This is the easyest way to unlock your phone.:good:

Hi guys!
I bought my unit last december2011 and had it rooted and flashed the bulletproof rom.
I'm thinking of upgrading the software by using the official htc ics upgrade.
My questions are :
1. Is it possible to install the update even with the rom i'm using, bulletproof.
2. If i did download and install, is there a possibility that may device will be bricked?
3. If my unit got bricked, will the shop where i bought my unit knew that i had it rooted if i am to claim that it had been bricked because of the ics update that i installed, to get it replaced?
Hope you could help me on this.

1. You could try, just by searching for a update in settings, about phone, system update.
2. THe device wouldn't brick, but assuming you have s-off it would probably wipe that. And at the moment you can't s-off hboot 1.27.0000 which the ICS firmware updates it to. So your limited to the amount of custom roms you can install. But if your just looking for stock ics you'll be fine
3. Depends on the shop.
Hope I helped!

Hi Zdos!
Thank you for this. Now i feel a lot better. I'm still waiting for the official htc ics update to be released in the Philippines but was afraid to try it because of the possibility of bricking my device. I've watched one video earlier wherein the guy's sensation xe got bricked because he tried installing the official ics update on his rooted device.
I'm not that techie but i love my sensation xe, helps me on my work. Still got lost in the technical terms in the thred though.

Ok,
I'm not sure if the update will come through to your rom. So I think you should look at this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=21711154#post21711154 follow the instructions, and you will have a Sensation XE with ICS http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1098849 is probably the best rom to use.

Those details won't suffice to determine what you need for flashing ARHD ...
As you are running custom Rom I can say that you are soff...but to be sure can you post a screen shot of your bootloader that would be pretty helpful.
Also post your cid ...this you can get it by fastboot command
"fastboot getvar cid"
(Assuming you have fastboot/adb setup)
Also there is the best noob proof guide for flashing ARHD...chk that then you can flash any custom Rom easily
Here is the link to guide

Currently doing backup through 4ext. wish me luck brother. i'll update you later.
do i have to make a titanium backup of all user and system apps or just the user apps?
If there are some settings in system apps u want yo backup like mail , take system as well, if u only need savegames of games, take user apps

You can't install official ota ics update with custom Rom. It must be stock Rom with stock recovery.
Soff will stay same after update so not important you don't need to s-on to get ics.

I have yet to flash the ARHD zip file. after i updated the firmware, i tried to open the phone to delete the file but the device did not go through the normal booting process, instead it just keep rebooting after the logo flashes. any ideas why?
These are bootloops.. Which file did you want to remove ? Did you really installed the 3.32 firmware before flashing the rom?

I know this might be asked before but i cant find it. firmware/super wipe

Guys I see a lot of roms that tells you what firmware is recommended but it dowsnt show you on how to know which firmware you have.
I recently got this phone sensation 4g from tmous. came with ICS.
I rooted it, s-off it, and hboot 1.27.1111
how can i know what firmware do I have? and I guess I need to be on 1.33
and another question is anybody still using super wipes in here? seems like the more ics roms dont tells you that you need to do a super wipe
and can I still use superwipe when flashing new roms?

Their is a firmware thread that gives all the firmwares with unlocked bootloaders. Also a rom will state if you should super wipe or not. But as a rule of thumb do not super wipe when installing a aosp or aokp rom. Only sense roms seem to be compatible.
Also since you have ics as stock It would be safe to assume you have the 3.32 firmware as this is what is linked in most if the s-off guides I believe.

Let me get this straight: You managed, on your own, to root and S-OFF your phone, and yet you can't find info about firmware version. Tell me you're joking.

so the 3.32 is based on stock ICS for the sensation 4g then why some says to update to 3.33

Because 3.33 is the newest firmware and what some devs recommend for there roms. Even though 3.32 is the same as 3.33. So if you have 3.32 your ok.The only real difference is the radio. So if you just update your radio. You should be fine.
you can update to 3.33 but right now you dont have to. eventually maybe. setting > about phone will also tell you firmware version on phone, or maybe just the firmware of the rom, not sure. If you read the firmware thread then you will understand firmware and settings and not make a mistake. end up with reboots or tac nyan or some ****.

New kernel, GPU drivers, radio and RIL are hardly "the same".

Finding out the firmware version is one of the most basic information you need to know. Hint: Bootloader has nothing to do with it.
Odoslané z HTC Sensation XE with Beats Audio cez Tapatalk 2
What he's trying to tell you is if you get to your boot loader (by pulling battery putting battery back in pressing volume down and power at the same time) the information about your device will be there...if you want to upgrade to 3.33 you flash the v pg58img file. You put on root of sd card boot into boot loader the way I showed you then it will ask to update press power for yes. Then DELETE the file! If you don't delete it it will continuously try to update. That's all there is to it. Hope I've helped.if so press thank you. Have fun updating.

Don't worry about him lol. He's one of the funniest guys on XDA when you take his grumpiness lightly. I don't call him Grumpy Terepin for nothing.
He's always got a point too btw.
