Recommend me a smartphone - General Questions and Answers

Hi,
At the moment i have the htc desire. I like to play games and browse a lot. Here are some criteria about a phone:
- dual core or quad core
- screen at least 4,3 inch
- no pentile screen
- sd card slot
- ics

Note and s3 have pentile so they arent a option.
I think there are not much phones that have all these things, the one x has no sd card slot, same with the galaxy nexus.
Anything else?

The new LG Eclipse was the name if i remember with 2150mAh and IPS screen.
Don't forget the 2GB ram.

Hey, so you don't want pentile screen. Choose the galaxy s2. You'll get a huge amount of roms and development support. Its still one of the best phones ever made ^^

easy galaxy s3 yes it has pentile BUT that doesn't make it bad its amoled which is the best screeens in the world get it and you will love it the rest of the phones are ****

you dont need 2gb ram 1 is more than enough just look at the iphone it has 512mb and its a great paper weight

Galaxy Nexus over HTC One X:
*Stock Ice Cream sandwich, let's face it sense is not neccesary anymore
*The fastest updates in the android world
*Virtual buttons
*Amoled Blacks will always be better than lcd/lcd2
* Battery life: Probably better because amoled doesnt have a backlight
*Removable battery
HTC One X over Galaxy Nexus:
*Quad core cpu
*Better gpu
*No pentile screen
*Better camera
Which one would you choose and why?

Why would you say that?
The nexus is dirt cheap now, 500 $ on amazon and the one x is 675 $ on negrielectronics, decisions decisions
GNEX its stock and has better support. Stock also gets updates quicker.

onex, if u can wait. but I like the ability to replace the battery in my phone, sooo that depends
IMO the HTC One X is the superior device.
- Better processor (the AT&T dual core version is better than the regular quad core version!)
- Better screen (but only by a fraction)
- Better size (in my opinion)
- Beats Audio
- Better UI (in my opinion)
- Better build quality
The only advantage the Note has is a removable battery, although I've heard that the one included in the HTC is awesome.
Either way, both are great devices.

yeah now the battle is between one x and one xl
the xl comes with the latest snapdragon S4 dual core krait which beats the quad core tegra 3...and LTE.

I think the xl is for 4g LTE. i dont think we'll be getting it.

2. now i have a galaxy note is a big galaxy s2 very fast the s-pen very nice the size used to it
the htc have nice animations is also a good phone for me galaxy note
The HTC's probably got better hardware, but if you want to scribble things with a stylus you might be better off with the note.

How is galaxy nexus? I am getting a good deal over here ...around 160 usd cheaper than htc one x's probable price. I love vanilla ics and nexus series is great with updates.

If you are very particular about camera,music and processing speed go for the one x else u can go for the galaxy nexus.

Should I get galaxy nexus,HTC sensation xe or galaxy s3?

I have been thinking abt getting a new phone,but I was unsure with the phone performance,and I'm not rich..kinda tight on budget,so yeah,wat I need in my future phone is an expandable memory,use normal sim card (not micro sim),decent camera with front facing camera,with 768mb higher ram perhaps?,decent display,and good gaming performance..which one is better? In gpu,adreno 220,sgx540 or s3 gpu? thanks in advance

The only phone that fits your needs is the Sensation XE. The Nexus doesn't have expandable memory and the GSIII uses a micro sim.

The S3 has the best GPU out of the lot and uses the wolfson wm8991 for audio if you like sound in addition the battery life is phenominal. A pentile screen is also used as it lasts longer however.......only downside is as said above the micro sim lol
The galaxy nexus will have the most support from google and have quicker updates.
The sensation XE has a large vibrant screen and comes with dr dre beats however the settings/software has already been ported to other devices so not much to go for there lol
I went between the sensation XE and got the sgs3 a few days a go and loving it ^_^

Seriously?! How abt adreno 225 compared to s3 gpu? And pentile screen is a Downside ppl said,well I don't see a difference =\ and yeah,replaceable battery is wat I'm looking for too

In short, are you the sort of person that will be crying a year from now about why your phone doesn't have Android version X yet?
if so, get the Nexus, it's the Apple-like upgrade cycle. Otherwise, any of these phones are a great choice....
Pentile screen i see as a plus as it lasts for longer xD anyway if you compare the andreno 225 to the one in the s2 it wins by a small percentage however the mali 400 in the s3 they had stuck the stick speed of the mali to 4xx compared to the 2xx speed in the sgs2 making it a lot faster than the adreno 225
Bassically ATM the S3 has the fastest GPU.

Well I'm kinda that kind of person,I was planning to get nexus at first,but without expandable memory and I don't have my own computer..which I store a lot of stuff,16gb wast really enough for me..and at least Samsung get updates faster than htc

Why do you need no microsim
I believe the nexus also uses a micro sim. Maybe just the verizon version :| Either way, the sensation xe is a good phone, and I think any of your é choices are fine. In the past HTC got kind of bad with updates. However, with their recent track record I am almost positive the xe will see jellybean at the very least. If you want expandable storage and a standard sim on a limited budget, but still with good performance and updates I recommend the xe.

You have a One X. Why would youu want a new phone that is actually older?
But Nexus wins. It doesn't have the Exynos processor, but an HD screen, bigger screen, faster updates, lots of development (S2 does too).
Camera is meh but like I said you have a One X which has one of the best cameras on a smartphone in the market.

The Nexus will be better because you will get your updates much quicker and straight from Google! I'd go with that.
I am a GNex owner and I say that you made a great choise!!!
The speed and the screen are perfect!
I play with it and its Platform since the first day..
I just love it..!
GS2 it is good but it doesn't give you the same feeling as the GNex!

I faced the exactly the same question when helping my wife to decide a smartphone. I did a little research on the internet, and here are the reason why I choose SII over Nexus.
1. Super AMOLED vs AMOLED HD
Yes, Nexus as better resolution and higher ppi, but the quality of display, the color saturation on the SII is better than the Nexus when comparing them side by side
2. Corning Gorilla Glass
This is only for the SII, Nexus doesn't have that.
3. CPU + GPU
Galaxy S2 CPU：1.2GHz dual-core ARM Cortex A9 CPU、Samsung Exynos 4210。
Galaxy Nexus CPU：1.2GHz dual-core ARM Cortex A9 CPU、TI OMAP 4460。
Same CPU, but the GPU for SII is slightly better suited for high end graphics
4. Camera
Galaxy S2：8MP rear camper with 1080p HD video、2MP front
Galaxy Nexus：5MP rear camera with 1080p HD video、1.3MP front
So in the end, I choose the SII instead of Galexy Nexus. But please keep in mind, that the difference are minor, so if you have already choose the Nexus, stay with it. Both are excellent benchmark android device. Excellent phones from Samsung.

I just went to the phone store in the mall & they let me play with DNA & Galaxy N2... by far the GN2 was the better of the 2. Both were very nice but I am leaning toward the Gn2 really fast & smooth... can't wait to root. Just need a mugen power 6400 ma battery w/ kickstand & will b good to go...

Just wondering. What made you like the n2 better. The DNA is very fast and gets better benchmarks then the n2.

My only fear with the DNA is that it might lose developer support. HTC isn't in good relations with developers at current time, whereas Samsung devices have awesome support. I like the hardware on the DNA way more though.

Exactly Htc lacks in marketing as compared with Samsung!
Plus note 2 has a removable battery and expandable sd, with lots of progress made on bootloader unlocking on Verizon.
DNA is one sleek and sexy phone, though!

But you know what it doesn't have? A 1080p 440ppi screen.

The DNA supports USB Host. So use of a OTG cable to a flash drive will serve the same purpose as a SD card. There are even WiFi enabled drives as well. So not having an SD slot was not a deal breaker for me. I'm glad there are other options than just cloud based services.

The htc droid devices usually get sources quicker than their other devices like the Thunderbolt. I think that they are like htcs version of a development device.

the M7 is said to improve upon HTC's current flagship Android phone, the One X, nearly across the board: with a 4.7-inch HD display at 468ppi (reportedly called a SoLux display), a 1.7GHz Snapdragon quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, and LTE and HSDPA radios. The M7 will also reportedly carry an improved camera with a 13-megapixel sensor and an f/2.0 lens.
M7 should be headed to Verizon and Sprint, and that there's a possibility it could be the first smartphone since the HTC Touch Pro 2 to be offered on the four largest US carriers.

Yeah I heard about that. Sounds like a beast. Sony I think is also gonna release a 5 inch 1080p 16 megapixel 128gb storage beast. But sony so who knows how it will be....

Sony phones are generally pretty easy to unlock it seems like. I've never had one, but from tech stories I see, that's the impression I get.
