Hi All,
I updated my HTC Desire to ICS using http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1355660 everything is awesome. But I have a query. I can't seem to find out how to alter settings for widgets like you could in gingerbread. When a widget is placed, I have no way of adjusting it. For example, the calendar, I want to set to a monthly view. It always gives me a daily view instead.
I'm using dk_zero_cool's BCM ICS on my desire, and it appears that there is no way to alter the settings. Some widgets will offer settings when they are placed, but others (like calendar and power control) appear to have no way to alter the settings.

Indeed. If widget has something to set, it prompt about it only by placing. But in ICS you can change size of some widgets! that was something missing in 2.3.x

Any idea where I can find the quick settings widget that came with the stock rom? I can't find it in the HTC widget library at all It's the widget that has all of the wifi, bluetooth...etc listed on the left side of the screen in a nice graphical format.
its the power control widget.
The stock Rom just used the individual controls for those things if I recal. Look in Widgets/settings they're all there
It's not EXACTLY the power settings widget or the individual ones. If it wasn't stock...it must have been from the Android Revolution 3.0 rom...lemme re-install that and see if I can find it. Thanks for the suggestions!
Hi all,
I've got 2 questions:
1. I was wondering if it would be possible to have some sort of widget that allows me to change my brightness in the lock screen.
2. Is there some sort of mod for the notification window? I would like to have the "quick settings + some other functionality in the first window when I drag it down.
Thanks!
Jason.
Well lock screen brightness would be the same as your home screen brightness.
(not too positive if that's what you mean) you can adjust that in menu/settings/display
As for your quick settings being something different. That is definitely a suggestion to bring up as I have never seen that done differently besides a EQS.
Maybe a Twitter feed? Or something? Conversations? Hmmm

1. Get Widgetlocker app on the market and add whatever brightness widget you would like to the lockscreen.
2. CM7 and MIUI both let you customize the quick settings shortcuts on the notification bar.
You can also use a tweaks option on any sense ROM although you will find most have it anyway (custom roms)

can you elaborate? Tweaks like what?
@OP.. Sense Lock screen cant be changed. U can use brightness changing application in Sense Lock screen shortcuts but that will still unlock screen after opening application..
Second option as 2nd post says to use WidgetLocker application but for that u have to sacrifice Sense Lock screen...
Let me clarify myself further:
I would like to keep the htc sense lockscreen as it is but also include the option to adjust brightness.
As for the notifications:
the samsung galaxy s2 shows quick settings in the first window when dragged down, I would like to have something similar and maybe increase the number of options displayed. For all I care the recent applications in this window can go out of the window for this since I always use the home button to switch between applications.

Here's what you want:
Thanks all,
@ags29:
I assume that's just an application I have to install?
@rddocke:
I would look into those mods
Thanks again!
Wondering if someone can help suggest some widgets that offer 'Sense-like' function for an AOSP ROM. I'm experimenting with Virtuous Quattro, but miss certain features, these three for example:
'Friend Stream' integrated Facebook/Twitter widget
'People' avatar dialer (I like the 3x4 display of icons only)
News widget
Clock w/ weather
Thanks in advance!

Try Android Pro widgets. That is about the best there is
Fancy widget for the Sense/weather experience.
Friendstream widget -> Friendcaster
HTC Clock and Weather -> GoWeather
Thanks for the suggestions, guys.
Regarding AP widgets, I tried the free version, but it seems to default to the mobile number, rather than the one that I'd prefer to use. For example, on any given contact you can select the default action (view card, send message... whatever) but you can't select which NUMBER to use if a contact has multiple phone numbers. Am I just not using it right???
Never mind... figured it out after buying the paid version.
Also, one other request - how would you synchronize contacts with Outlook on the desktop? I never really trusted Google with personal information, and now that they've changed the privacy policy, I trust them even less.
Thanks!
I'm sure they have all of your information regardless. LOL. Seriously.

If you're using an android phone Google probably already knows your mothers maiden name, your blood type and has the rights to your firstborn child. Its OK though, because all they want do to is get you to watch YouTube ads. Isn't technology fun?

I just got a Skyrocket, coming from an iPhone. I had Pure Calendar back when I had an original Droid so I downloaded it again to my Skyrocket, but I've got a problem.
No matter what calendar grid I choose, part of it gets cut off. Not sure if it's an issue with the Widget, or with Go Launcher, which I'm using.
Anyone have any ideas?

Do you have the grid size changed?
I do, but I still have it 4 icons wide (5 high).
Does Go Launcher allow you to resize any widget? I use Nova Launcher and I had the same problem, but just resized the calendar until it fit perfect.
I have not seen the option to resize widgets individually, only an option that is supposed to scale widgets to whatever grid you have set (for the record, the problem exists with that option checked or unchecked).

Yeah, figured that out after I said it. I ended up putting my screen at the default 4x4, putting the widget on, then resizing back to 5x4. Seems to have worked.
Hi,
Is there any way to personalize the lockscreen (withou installing a new lockscreen app)?
I'm having issues with the meteorology app, beacuse it is always requesting GPS.
Or is there a way to stop the meteorology app from using GPS and just use a city choose by me?
I don't want it accessing the GPS all the time. I've already took it away from the homescreen but I haven't found a way to take it from the lockscreen.
Question 1, no not without installing another launcher. The icons on the LockScreen are the ones on the Dock.
Question 2, I would check in the Meterology App Settings, something along the lines of Location, Default home or something like that. Hard to tell when no one knows exactly which app you are referring to. Most likely look in Settings.
Hi,
Thanks for the answer and sorry for not being explicit.
I was talking about the weather app that comes with the phone.
If I add a new widget from that app to the homescreen I can choose a specific city but the widget on the lockscreen keeps updating using GPS.
If i use another weather app on the homescreen, the one on the lockscreen will not change and it will still be the one that came with the phone.

Basically the same applies. Go into Weather app, Menu(3 dots), Settings and unclick Auto detect my location.
It was the first thing I did!
