[Problem] signal status always stuck on "No Service" - HTC One S

Hey guys, I am using the US T-mobile HTC One S, unlocked on the AT&T network. HSPA and phone signal works great. However, sometimes the signal status at the upper right corner just gets stuck at no signal, even though the phone IS getting signal and I can make calls perfectly. The "no signal" icon just gets stuck there until I restart my phone.
Anyone having similar problem?

Might be that I had such issues while on Firmware 1.53.
Now after update to 1.78 I got none.

To update the firmware I would need to be rooted, right? and If I root my phone right now, I would have to do a factory reset? (since my phone is S-ON right now)

Not at all!
I got the update via Stock ROM w/o any root - HTC just pushed it.
You would probably get it too, but based on T-Mobile efforts, so ask them about it.

When did you receive the new update? Has it been pulled by anyone yet? I'm on 1.53.531.16 710RD and I thought this was currently the latest. Also, are you on T-Mobile US as well?

I have the EU unbranded phone 1.78.401...
I got it about a week ago.

[Q] Sensation XE no signal on a Particular Carrier

Hi All! We've been working with this issue for 2 days at our help channel #helpmenow.
I currently have an s-off 1.27 hboot sensation XE running Insercoin v 2.0 ROM.
My issue is I don't have get signal for a particular carrier. (Other SIMs for other carriers works just fine). This carrier used to work before, I was just charging and then I noticed that it got no service.
These are the steps that I took so far:
1. Check antenna at the cover
2. Tried SIM on another phone (SIM Works)
3. Tried a DIFFERENT SIM from a DIFFRENT carrier, it works fine on MY phone.
4. called my provider but no issues on their side.
6. used RUU
7. tried RIL's
8. Flashed old 1.17 firmware to clean radio data.
9. Flashed a different ROMv with and without full wipe
10. Also tried downloading apps to enhance signal but to no avail.
we've been working this out with ganesh007, kgs1992, T-Junk, David_ and others on the channel but as of now I still got the same issue.
Hopefully you can help us figure this out so it could be of use to others who might have the same issue in the future.
PS: Right now I am using a different SIM from another carrier so as to get the phone function of the Phone. The carrier you see below my name is the one that is having issues right now.
Thanks in advance.

Kabayan, we are on the same boat. I have the same exact issue..Sensation xe(2nd hand), originally from Singapore(Singtel), went as far as going back to GB stock. At first, I thought it was just sim locked to Smart, but when I tried a Sun sim, it worked. At this point, I do not know what else to do. Tried cleaning s58,tried firmwares with different radio's, etc. After reverting back to GB and putting in a Globe sim it still says "Your sim does not allow a connection to this network" and no signal. If you got any updates, please let me know. Okay?

[Q] Help required - Nexus S i9020

I bought this Nexus S, i9020. It's just a couple of days old. Had ICS 4.0.4 and when connected to WiFi, phone started downloading latest system update. Installed the update quickly. The battery however, started draining too quickly after the update.
My problem or nightmare started when I tried to revert or downgrade this cellphone to Gingerbread 2.3.6, because I read that on GB, this phone's battery lasted for more than a day.
Anyhow, when I downloaded this One_Step_Click guide for downgrading to GB 2.3.6, the phone actually downgraded, but to my utter surprise, it has downgraded to Sprint Nexus S 4G, the phone now shows following:
Model number: Nexus S 4G (which it's not, its Nexus S i9020)
Android version: 2.3.4
Baseband version: Unknown
Kernel version: 2.6.35.7-ge382d80
Build number: GRJ22
The phone has lost the GSM signal, although SIM is still in the SIM slot. I can still connect to WiFi and connect to my Google account.
FYI, i am using Ufone GSM network here in Karachi, Pakistan.
Need urgent help in restoring my Nexus S to its original state to be able to use on GSM network.
Appreciate your help.
Thanks.
Seems like you are actually messed up. So you want Gingerbread 2.3.6 on your NS, right?
Just confirm me one thing, is it I9020T or I9020A? I'll be easily able to help you then

I am facing a similar issue (in Pakistan) and can't seem to find the right baseband/radio. I tried almost all radios at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1116884 but the problem remains - I get very very low signals (my SIM works fine on other phones). Any PM for me as well

The bootloader is the right version. Don't worry. It's made for the i9023 and i9020
My i9023's bootloader is called I9020XXLC2. It was updated from an official Google factory image.
Wow thanks so much, My router is a Gigabit one and it was set to a setting of 13 and the Nexus S can't handle that and that's why my network wasn't coming up!

[Q] Sensation radio vodafone uk

Hi
I flashed my sensation to ARHD 6.8.2 when I got it last August. Recently I have had problems with 'no service' and 'no sim installed' so I flashed to ARHD 7.2 with SebastianFM kernal. I have found that when connected to web the 'no service' problem has gotten worse so I think I should maybe flash to the UK vodafone radio to see if that helps. I originally bought the phone in Spain. I think it was originally locked to Vodafone Spain but was unlocked when I got it.
I'm just not confident to work out what I should change. Do I need to flash the RUU and RIL? I'm not developer and a bit of a noob but I can follow instructions without problems. I did manage to root, S-OFF and flash a ROM so just need the right information which is where I am counting on you.
My CID is 11111111
Radio 11.24A.3504.31_M
My setup is
ARHD 7.2 XE
ICS 4.0.3 / SENSE 3.6
Kernal: 3.0.16-v1.5.2 SebastianFM #1
Build 3.33.401.154 CL391535
Browser version: WebKit/534.30
What is the correct 3.33.x build for Vodafone uk? Can I just flash that over what I have now without causing conflicts? Or do I need to flash a different radio?
Please help!
Thanks!

Hi,
I am not sure a RUU will help.
2 things you can try.
1. Lift off the back cover.
At the bottom of the phone there are 2 gold pins for the radio.
GENTLY lift them to make better contact.
2.Get a new sim card.

Hi
I already tried the pins approach and my sim card was new in January. Could the sim really be a problem only 3 months old??

Hi,
Go to the market and find the app called "Getril".
Run it, and see if there is a better radio/RIL combination for your phone.

Thanks for that tip on the app. I ran it and it says the RIL is unknown which is understandable as the ROM I have is only a few months on the market.
So no real step forward.
This morning when I switched on my phone after a full charge it was saying 'no service'. I rebooted it and it had service. Could that be the SIM or is it a hardware/software issue? Is there a way to debug the phone to see what is causing the signal loss?
I need to get this fixed as I need to be obtainable by phone as my wife is pregnant and going through some problems. If the phone is buggered then fine I will get a replacement but if it is a simple software issue that can be rectified then doing that is preferable.
Another thing I noticed...when I have no service and I switch to aircraft mode and then back again it says 'no sim installed' so that is without touching the sim nor removing the rear cover.
I think I read somewhere the 3.33.x build for vodafone uk is something like 3.33.161.x whereas I have the universal 3.33.401.x
What is the difference? Is it the branding?
What is DisH for vodafone UK for?:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=28316588&postcount=1111
Hi,
That disH is for GingerBread roms.
The difference in numbers is just a minor update.
Where did you get your current radio from?
Hi
I don't remember if I changed the radio when I first went to ARHD 6.7.2 or whether it came with the ROM (ARHD 7.2) or whether I have not changed the radio. I think it came with the custom ROM
Is it the correct radio?

Hi,
Your radio is not quite the latest.
Go to the radio/ril thread in the Dev section, by stempox
You can get the latest 11.29A version.
Read the instructions carefully.
I'm all up to date now. Thanks for your help everyone.

HTC One S T-mobile unlocked on AT&T

I have Cyanogenmod running 4.4.2 with baseband 1.13.50.05.31_10.30.50.08L. It worked great on T-Mobile. couple of weeks ago I signed up AT&T, and now the signal drops constantly, phone calls is almost not usable, and mobile data is always on Edge.
Does anyone having the same issue? is this an issue of baseband? I read somewhere that european version of the baseband would work better with AT&T, can anyone confirm or deny?
Thx!
