This is your browser, meaning bookmarks and probably search history. If you're signed into Google Chrome, your bookmarks should sync. I think. I could be off on this, but "Internet" is definitely the browser.

thanks for your response, now at least i have an idea of what it is.

Problem with gmail and sending and syncing?

Is anyone else having the problem with gmail and sending/ syncing the inbox? it just says "sending... " and never sends. Then I go and go through all my email on my phone and delete things and then when I go on the computer a half hour sometimes 3-4 hours later all my mail is unread and just like I never read anything.
Does anyone have any suggestions or another app that I could use besides the web app.

Yes, have had the same problems too. Not sure what the resolution is.
From what I've experienced, if you don't have auto-sync turned on, then you have to hit the menu button and hit refresh to manually send/receive again.
I have that checked, cannot add specifically "Gmail". My Gmail Contacts and Cal. are all being synced. Gmail will recieve messages but will not sync them with the gmail server after I delete/archive stuff.
I'm having this same issue.
Did anyone find a solution?

Manage Phone List

What is up the the list of contacts when using the phone or messaging? I can manage under Contacts|settings|view exactly what contacts I want to see; however, when using the phone or messaging, the Sensation presents EVERY contact without a way to adjust. In my situation I use Exchange Activesync to gather my work emails, and despite unchecking sync contacts, they all show up in my phone list.......who the heck wants to sort through a thousand contacts to make a phone call. Thoughts or ideas?
I have some similar problem. I sync with both Exchange Activesync and Google/Gmail and some of my contacts have an entry in both. In my lists of contacts they're perfectly coupled and reduced to one entry, but in the messaging app the contacts show up double again.
I already had contact with HTC Benelux, but their first 'solution' was to remove one of the entries manually. But that's no option for me. I replied to them, but they have not reacted yet.
Strange thing is with the mail app everything is ok.

To get rid of this in messaging, there are 3 options you need to turn off.
Go to messaging.... settings... general... and turn off "Show sent message history", "Show call history" and "show email address". Or a combination of the three if you'd like.
In contacts, you should check the option in settings that says "Only with phone number". As long as your email contacts don't have phone numbers, they won't show up in the contacts list.
I hope I'm understanding your issues and that this information helps.

[Q] How to stop mail auto syncing.

I keep getting notifications popping up from the mail app saying I have new unread emails, I have auto sync turned off and I can't find any settings to stop it in the mail app (note not GMail app I have that deleted)
Thanks.
I'm running CM7 on an Evo 4G.
I'm having the same issue. Have you or anyone else figured out how to stop this from happening? My corporate email (exchange server with stock email app) always syncs even when I uncheck Auto-sync in Settings>Accounts & sync>Auto-Sync.
The only way I can stop the account from syncing is to change the "Inbox check frequency" from "Automatic (Push)" to "None".
I'm hoping to figure out how to make this app respect the phones syncing settings and not sync when I uncheck the Auto-sync box.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Email/Gmail Push Issues - My Solution or Temporary Fix

We all know by now that the phone has been weird with emails. Sometimes the push email works and sometimes it doesn't. My main issue was my Gmail. I have 3x Gmail and 2x Work.
This is what I did. So far, it's working 100%.
Please know, this will only work if you DON'T use the Gmail app.
1. Factory wiped the phone. Once started up, do not add your Google account yet.
2. Go into Settings and Apps and disable all your bloatware while you're here and make sure you disable the Gmail app. When you get out of it, it'll reload Sense. After this, go ahead and reboot your phone to be safe.
3. Now go ahead and go to Settings and Accounts and add your Google account. With Gmail disabled, it will not sync your email. Your choice if you want to sync Contacts.
4. Next, setup your Gmail via Microsoft Exchange via server method. Email and Username is your full email address. Leave Domain blank. The server address is m.google.com
5. When finished, set it up Push Email and not Smart Sync. If you did not sync your Contacts via Google, you can do it here also. Same with Calendar and Tasks.
Done!

With this method, I haven't had any issues...YET
Please comment if this works well for you.
Maybe we can see if it's just Gmail accounts in general or any Microsoft Exchange accounts too.
Please NO iOS vs Android statements
Or you can do what I did and go into your advanced wifi settings and enable Best Wifi Performance. Since I enabled this my push notifications have been coming instantly.

I had the issue regardless on WiFi, 4G, or LTE.
I am on LTE 100% so I prefer my faster connection
I know that this thread is about not using the Gmail app but I saw on the other thread about the email issues that some people complained about the Gmail app being slow too with getting push notifications.
I am a first time Android user and I have noticed that it usually takes several minutes for my phone to notify me in the GMail app. Is this normal across Android phones or does this push notification bug also affect the GMail app too?

This is NOT normal. The native gmail app should receive emails within 5-10 seconds (max) of when they would show up in your account if you were using a computer.
Sent from my HTC One X using XDA
What worked for me was extremely simple. After I setup the accounts, I went back into "Accounts & Sync" and under each account, I simply toggled "Sync Mail" off, then back on. After I did that to each account, push was enabled and working on all accounts.

[Q] Problem with email sync

I upgraded my OS to the stock AT&T JB 4.1.2. Now my email won't sync automatically. I tried to remove my email account and readd it, but to no effect.
In the settings for my account, underData Usage:
Sync Email
Sync is turned off
...and the box to the right is checked. The whole thing is lowlit, so I cannot do anything with it.
I have tried going to general settings and email, but all I can see is that *@yahoo.com "sync disabled".
Anyone else having this problem? Anyone find a fix?
