Has anyone been able to confirm if flashing a ROM (or a patch) based on the new Tmobile ICS release fixes the FC issues with sending MMS messages?

What patch did you flash to fix it?
Shows how often I send MMSes. Just did a test over HSPA. No FCs but it doesn't send. Tried sending over wifi calling, and it reverted to GPRS to send and failed as well. May be as simple as an APN setting for MMS, but not really bothered by it.
Tried receiving an MMS with wifi calling, and it enabled GPRS to try and download the attachment. The message part came through, but the image doesn't show.
Don't use my TMO number for texting anyway. Hope Google Voice implements MMS support soon.
The strange thing is that although I get FC's a lot, most of the MMS's go through. However I am unable to send MMS's to one particular ATT customer which is very puzzling. I am hoping the new Tmobile ICS leak will fix these problems.

Hello everyone
I have been a fan of all cooks in xda-developers. I must say that I have tried every new Roms available.
One thing that keeps me trying the new roms is, can't receive MMS messages.
I am on AT&T in Atlanta area. I can send and receive sms but I can only send MMS messages.
I have used/ tried every radios too with same result.
Even Hyperdragon's AT&T mms hack didn't work.
I have searched and read all kinds of info on this and called AT&T to see if it was provisioned to receive mms. All the things are ok at the AT&T side.
I would love to solve and receive mms messages in the near future with your help.
Thanks guys in advance
sometimes it's a network issue with att. ive had this problem before. you just need to call att and they should be able to fix it. at least they did when my phone wouldnt send or recieve mms.
Ahh..I did that already with no such luck. Matter of fact , I called them 3 times so far. They told me to bring my phone in to do "sim-swap". As you know I can't do that because of " Cooked Rom" in my AT&T Tilt.
theres a link in the wiki explaining how to revert everything back to warranty settings

You can do a SIM-swap. They don't look at the guts of your OS just to change your SIM card.
Also, if you search the forums, there is a cab file that has all the ATT sms and mms settings in it. I use this when ever im having problems.
Also, are you using the default sms program built into WM or are you using an add on threader program?

Here is a customized ATT Settings cab that ATW and myself created that sets up the ATT settings w/o the proxy.
Mod Edit: Also allows creation mode in your MMS settings.
I had the same problem and tried may cabs posted some worked for a day and then failed again which I do not understand why. Finally I found this and it is working for me for a while. Try and see if it works.
I have tried "shogun_cing mms fix" with Hyperdragon. And still not able to receive mms ...dang.
On to try RR AT&T cab. I ll report back.
Maybe post exactly which rom you are using and post your message in that thread? I've had the exact same problem and have since try an MMS 1st thing after flashing to see if I am going to keep a ROM or not. Most new ROM's work since akaDonny went and found the dependency's needed for Arcsoft MMS.

By the way which rom did you use?
Well, after reading this thread last night I realized it's been quite awhile since I'd sent an MMS. Usually when I receive them, it has me go to www.viewmymessage.com. I don't think much of it because of all the flashing I do to my phone. Turns out after adding my settings, I couldn't send or receive MMS either. I called ATT told them my issue and somehow they fixed it again. I was told to turn my cell off and on 3 times and to wait 15 minutes before sending an MMS so that the data they were sending my SIM would fix it.

Well...just got back from AT&T store to do a sim-swap, jumping jelly fish- it's working now.
I am unsure if the sim-swap did the trick or some of the AT&T setting cabs I tried.
One way to find out is to flash other roms to see if it works.
Just can't understand why changing the sim card works....
they didn't have to swap my sim. i don't understand how they couldn't help you over the phone as well. Anyway, looks like your problem was resolved and that's what matters eh?

I know the shogun cab usually fixes any problems im having with MMS when i flash a new rom.. Is this cab/fix better then the shogun cab.. could you explain the differences?
thanks...
still using schap's 4.30
Just because I don't want to start a new thread, shogun cingular works just fine with receiving mms, though generally 9 times out of ten I never receive or can't play without saving, the AUDIO part of mms' when sent even though everyone elses devices (non htc) play just fine. Very annoying issue as most of the recipients devices; Lg vu's, samsung, blackberry's, and even their ****ty razr's get full playback of video and audio in their mms. What say you All the Way?
No Problem
Ever since I had my sim card changed at AT&T store, every rom I flashed the sms and mms works prefect.
After new flash I let the "auto" connection setup do its thing and voila its working. On a rare instances when it does not work, I just use one the "AT&T Wap MediaNet & MMs setting" cab file.
for those of you having trouble with mms , try changing sim, it worked for me.
is there a reason y my mms doesnt work? i can send only to myself but everyone that tries sending me pics doesnt come through.....
ARHD 1.1.8 with no sense 1.5.2.............how do i fix this?
Try installed GO SMS or Handcent to see if you can send/receive MMS through one of those. This will at least narrow the problem down to network settings or a problem with the Messaging app. Have you tried contacting the ROM developer to see if it's a known issue?

I know if I try to send mms over wifi, it just sits and spins until I delete the message. But I noticed today, that if I forget that I'm on wifi and I try to send an mms, I will be unable to send mms even after I switch back to data...unless I do a hard reboot. Can someone explain why this happens?
I've never experienced this, try a different ROM maybe?
Are you using CM7 or a CM7 based ROM? It's an issue because it can't send over wifi so it switches to data to send it.
I"m actually running a rom based off ota 2.3.3
Hmm. Not sure then.
EDIT: duhh i should have seen your sig. HAHA dude you have 666 posts. Never post again.

I'm not sure why, but I totally know what your talking about. I'm using the same ROM as you & I tried couple others, but for some reason I don't have that much of a problem on EB 1.07. It still takes a while to send, but it doesn't require me to switch wifi to data & I don't have to reboot.
i am also using EB 1.7 and i for the life of me cant get mms to send when i am connected to wifi..
i know that mms cannot and will not send over wifi.. it actually has to switch from wifi to data to do the send. but EB 1.7 will not switch for me.. also cannot receive mms while on wifi either..
i really wish someone could get this fixed.. the rom is awesome!! but i do not understand why the creator thinks this is a problem that dont need fixed? it is a major pain in the arse.
either thinks its not an issue or it is a issue that hasnt been figured out howto fix? not quite sure what the scenario is? dont get me wrong really appreciate the time and effort on this rom! its bad ass! but wish the mms issue was fixed P
to verify this i got on my wifes stock phone and watchedit switch from wifi to data to send and receive a mms... my 2.3.5 with EB 1.7 JUST SITS THERE ON WIFI AND NEVER SENDS OR RECEIVES A MMS... oops sorry about caps.

Same here. I'm on EB 1.7 as well. Is there any fix for this??
I had to download the stock MMS from the WeaponG2x page to get mine to work.
The roms that youre using have the cm7 mms app installed on them. Cm7 mom's does not allow you to receive/send mms over wifi. You have to install the stock mms if you want to send/receive over wifi. The download link is in the weapon forum page 168.

or just on the main post, with the other downloads available, but nice dedication to find the exact page for them lol.
Hey guys,
I have been trying to figure this out for quite a while now but I can not seem to fix it. I recently updated to the newest baseband 21y and with it came the OTA T-mobile flavored 2.3.4 rom. It actually works pretty nicely except for the fact that I can not get mms to work. I am from canada on the WIND network. The APN's show up appropriately, but It can not send mms or recieve mms. I have tried adding the apns again manually and I still get the same result. I have also search the G2X forums and I could not come across an answer to this particular problem. I think the rom is having trouble switching over to the MMS apn when I try to send an MMS. All the other unofficial roms I have tried have the ability to successfully send mms. If anyone can help me with this I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks for your time.
ILL.
Bump!
This might happen to me too if I decided to flash the T-Mobile ROM.
Please help, much appreciated.
Can you describe the actual behavior when you try to send?
Sent from my LG-P999 using Tapatalk 2
Can you get online over cellular data? if so, it might be that the MMS apn information isn't right or that the device isn't being identified correctly after the update. Also when you send a MMS does there appear to be any data transferred?
I'm having issues sending MMS messages on my GS5. I contacted Sprint support and they really aren't much help so I just wanted to see if anyone else was having issues?
The Sprint rep had me dial ##72786# which sent it into the hands-free activation mode again, but they ultimately weren't able to fix anything.

Check in /system/etc if apns-conf.xml exists. If not, there's your problem. But I need more info to assist here, do you still have data/LTE, phone signal, none at all, are you using third party messaging app?
Okay, network connectivity exists. Normal text messages send fine with no issues and I can actually receive MMS messages. I'm using the stock messaging application because I was having issues receiving MMS via the Hangouts app when I let it handle my text messaging.
The file you requested was there...my post count isn't high enough to post the screenshot of it. I'm not currently rooted.

Try using 8sms.... It allows you to send MMS over WiFi (you can turn OFF mobile data, and still be able to send MMS as long as you have a WiFi connection). Sprint supports MMS over WiFi and is one of VERY few carriers in the world that support it, so try out 8sms

Can you receive MMS in stock messages app? Is it just Hangouts?
I can receive messages in all apps, Hangouts and the stock app. It just seemed to have issues sending MMS within any app that I have tried so far. Currently using the stock app.
I can give 8SMS a try.
I had an issue the other day sending texts. I went into application manager and deleted cache and data for the MMS program and it's worked fine since.

Agreed, try first clear cache/data for sms stock app (do not open), go update prl/profile, reboot. Them open app and see if works. If so, profit. If not and you have time, redo ROM flash of stock or what you're on. I'd say try my APN flash zip in Android development to see but that is at your own risk and, if something broke (highly unlikely though) you'd need to Reflash stock ROM to reset all. All this worth a try.

I had this issue when my phone was new. Did the activation thing and a PRL update, which fixed it for me.
