trying to update using lg update tool. Downloaded as many drivers as I could find (4). Updater detects phone, senses update is required, starts, but never proceeds to download, giving an "insignificant disk space" message.
There's plenty of space on the sd card, I've tried with and without sd card, with and without SIM, using XP 32 bit machine with many free GB of free disc and ram space.
Stock g2x with 2.3.3.
Anybody know what to do about this?

Just use the offline method then no download to worry about its simple and works

I would love to do it offline but don't know how and my searches have obviously been inadequate because I haven't found it . Please point me to that method.

Offline updating
The answer is indeed to do it offline, but the site where the files and instructions are is

But I haven't used it to do anything with....
I tried doing the sd card fix but for some reason I can't partition the card while still in my phone...
What else can/should I do?

Seriously? Just browse, you don't even have to do a search, through the forums and find more out on what you can do while rooted, and if you are having problems with a specific topic, go find the thread for it and post there.

Now you can download third party apps by sideloading and you can also remove the at&t market restrictions. You can also use the app shootme, which can take a pic of your screen, similar to the iphone. Not sure what other apps require rooting.

I used to have that problem with my old sgs4g so i sent it back and got a new one. My new one did it once but then i rooted my phone amd flashed a rom amd it stopped. One thing you should do is uninstall ROM manager it doesnt work on our phone so dont use it.

Well not sure about your camera issue but anything you did with rom manager may have issues. Rom manager does not work with the sgs4g.

try this, get sdbooster from market and set your sdcard's cache to 128k. Now try recording.

Froyo camcorder used to give just "Write error" message. Newer GB ROMs gives a message saying that SD card is not fast enough.
Flash memory write speed may decline over time comparing to freshly formatted card. I think it has something to do with erasing memory blocks to prepare them to be overwritten. Plus our class 2 card is not the fastest for sequential writes.
On the other hand full HD MP4 stream is only about 12Mbps or 1.5MBps, so theoretically any SD card that can sustain 2MBytes/sec write speed should do.
My card (original class 2) measures about 6 to 10 MBytes/sec (don't think it's real) with SDTools and 3-4MBps with Antutu (more real). At one point the write speed fell down and I started to get camcorder failures. I had to do full reformat to make it work again. I also used 32KB cluster size during formatting, it makes the card a little faster but sacrifices some space.
Over the past few days, I've been unable to install new apps or update existing ones from the Android Market or the Amazon App Store on my Samsung Infuse with a 32 GB MicroSD Card.
In the Android Market, it will usually say there is insufficient space to install or it will perpetually sit at "downloading" In the Amazon App Store, it will download the app but it will perpetually sit on INSTALLING and never complete.
I've done several reboots, sever cache clears, battery pulls, unmounting of the SD card and even booted without SD card and then back again. I've seen other fixes like moving apps off the SD card and back on and that is too troublesome.
Could it be the recent updates to the Android Market? If so, why would it affect the Amazon Appstore?
I removed the updates from the Market...same problem with both markets...so I tried a regular APK file..gets stuck with INSTALLING.
More than frustrating now...
What rom are you guys running?

Clear Data on both apps
I've done that...I am starting to wonder if the data on the external SD is getting corrupt.
I just yanked my 32 GB card and tried a few installs on internal card and it works like a charm. Any suggestions on how to prevent memory card corruption? I didn't seem to have this problem on my Captivate with a 16GB microSD.
Thanks to everyone for the suggestions...I believe it may be the 32GB MicroSD card as this is the third time this occurred and my wife's phone with a 16 doesn't seem to have this issue. I went back to a 16GB card and everything installs...for now...except for a larger program which says I have insufficient space to install.
While installing game I get an error "An sd card with at least 407 mb free is required in order to download the new content", am a noob at this. Running ICS.

Only solution i can think of is clearing up some space from a file manager. You can view your storage remaining from the sdcard in the settings (im not currently running ics) once you have about 1gb free, try again. If none succeeds, out of my knowledge...
Sent from my Kindle Fire using Tapatalk
It's a known issue worth the ics ROM. The as card isn't being mounted properly. As of now, i'm pretty sure there is no fix.

Okay here is an odd problem I cannot seem to fix. When I go to download an apk from anywhere ether than the market, I get an error... No SD card and 'an SD card is required to download... blah blah. '
... but I have not only the internal SD in my o3d but also a 2gb external card inserted.
Both have plenty of free space and are showing fine in storage option.
This seems to be a recent thing... any ideas?

I should also point out this happens if I use a different SD card too. Have formatted it on the phone.... help.

Thought i'd update anyone who might be interested...
I installed rushdroid v3.6 v21b ROM. Problem went away.
Restored my 21a Stock ROM....problem back!?
Very odd. I have to use my PC to download em at the moment as a work around.
Ah well, bring on the ICS/CM9 ROMS!
Download apk´s outside of the market? Within the Rom that´s giving you trouble, have you tried this to fix the no-sdcard message :
1) downloading the apk´s using different browsers (like Opera or Dolphin).
2) doing a full factory reset : settings--privacy--factory reset (you have to backup your data and apps first).
Just enter the browser options and set a location for downloads. It doesn't have any by default and that's the problem.
gonzgeorge yes have tried both of those but cheers.
Beriaru... oh what a clever one you are ;-). Thank you!! Can't believe it was so simple.
