I've been searching here for a long time and looking at different custom ROMs but cannot find an answer. (so please be gentle on me if I missed the obvious...)
Is there a custom ROM for the TF101 which is not affected by the RR, SOD, bootloop, and all the other issues introduced in stock ICS?
Will appreciate the advice.

I have used android revolution hd since it updated to ICS and not since the first ICS ota version have I seen a random reboot and I have never had a SOD
Get a new kernel
Your solution to SODs and ROR is getting a new kernel, the best one is to my point of view GUEVOR works, the last ones are great with stock rom.

This is what you need to do. But, I would recommend either the 17c or 16b. I had a lot of SOD with the latest 19.2 kernel.
Thank you all!
I'm currently on stock .21
So confirming that what I need to do is:
Revert to an older, rootable stock ROM
Root
Then either:
Install Guevor kernel (with stock rom?)
or
Install Revoultion HD
Is this correct?
Yes, Guevor 17c is rock stable, so is the TestyMehIcs kernel. Both should do you good
ARHD on it's own (as mike tweaks the kernel) or with Guevor/testymeh is good too.

Thanks @Thing O Doom.
And is the procedure above correct?
Yes, between steps 2 and 3 though you need to make sure to install CWM recovery (I recommend Rouge XM version, as it reads internal and external SD card) this is what you will use to flash the kernel and a ROM

Thanks Thing O Doom.
Yes, I forgot to mention CWM...
Will try the stock .24 when it comes out (hopefully this weekend) and if RR continues I will go Revolution HD or guevor.

I was just wondering that if I am going to update my kernel is it necessary to re-install the rom or do I just install the zip with clockwork and away i go? I've searched the forum and couldn't find anything regarding it, I would appreciate the help! Thanks.
you can just use CWM to installed the kernels without installing the rom but there might be some compatibility issues, so check before doing it.
Ok because the reason I'm asking is because I have SupeAosp with the Trinity kernel but I'm thinking on either upgrading for Trinity 12 to 14 or trying out James Bond Kernel and I thought that there might be some prep work involved.

just flash the newer kernel on top. be sure its compatable with the rom. if you do have issues, just reflash the rom(that will bring you back to the roms "stock" kernel).
In this case you can test out different kernels but make sure you have the trinity kernel file in the root folder in case which ever kernel you do flash doesn't work out.
In such a case you would just boot into CWM and re-flash the morfic kernel.

Thanks for the insight, I look forward to testing out many kernels!
Hi,
I know there are instructions on overclocking, but they involve flashing with older files, so I'm a bit scared.
I managed to successfully upgrade my Xoom to 3.2.2 as per the instructions at:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1242524
(FYI: I also had the WiFi issue, I got around it by first installing the Hammerhead ROM, then going to the 3.2.2 stock ROM - using ClockworkMod 3.2.0.0 R4c and the 1.0 version of the ROM - hope that helps someone else).
So far, I'm all good. Now I'd like to overclock this.
Any advice?
Thank you,
Justin

Download either SETCPU or CPU Master and have at it. Just don't have it set on boot til you are sure the new clock speed is stable.

If you go with the tiamat 2.2 moray rom you will be able to overclock from the custom tiamat settings found in the android settings menu. Along with some other additions the option to overclock is built into the rom with the custom kernel. No need to use a app like setcpu.

Hi,
I tried setcpu, it only allows me to set the CPU up to 1000MHz, so I presume I need to do something to set it higher, like flash a kernel or something?
So is it possible for me to overclock on the stock 3.2.2 ROM, or can I only do it with Moray?
If I flash with Moray, and overclock, can I then flash up to the 3.2.2 stock?
Thanks for the replies,
Justin

Sorry, I assumed you had installed a rom or kernel that could overclock. It's not possible on stock.
Also, with a downloaded governor like I mentioned, you can set profiles to save battery, etc.
Thanks again,
Maybe I should flash the Moray ROM so, I like the 3.2.2 one, but not sure what additional benefits I'm getting with it as its only WiFi, I'll never use 4G.

I just can't understand why the fuss over HC3.2.2. As you say, it's for 4G.
Plus stock anything is just pure boredom-inducing IMHO.
OK, that clinches it - I'm flashing to Moray
Thanks a mill for the advice, saved me hours of messing around,

Hi, whats the story with 3G after installing Hammerhead ROM ? Does 3G work properly? Just wondering about is as you wrote that u have some wifi issues as well...
Im looking forward to overclock my one but am curiouse if 3G works all right ?
I'm not terribly good with kernels, and the only thing I understand is that if I have a custom one, I can overclock on SetCPU and do a few other things. I have ARHD 3.2.1 right now, but I don't know how kernels really work.
Sorry if this is a bit of a nooby question, but I am a noob C:
Thank You.
Try TastyMeh (in my signature)
Or Guevors test kernel (dev forum)
Both are similar, have awesome fixes, and oc to 1.7Ghz
You just got to try them out. Every unit is different so what may work for me might not work for you. +1 for guevors. 11b tends to still work best for most people.
Sorry for abusing this thread for a noobish question.
I was on stock ICS, rooted and installed guevor's test13 kernel for a while. Then switched to test15.
Yesterday I downloaded Full Wipe Script and Revolution ROM from dev thread, and used them:
1. Full Wipe
2. Install Revolution
My questions are ...
* Which kernel do I have now?
* Did the ROM installation change the kernel to the one that is included with the ROM?
* Maybe the ROM doesn't include a kernel, so I am still on test15?
BTW, I already checked on system info but I wasn't able to extract any useful info from that. I think that now I am using whatever kernel Revolution includes, but I am not sure.
Thanks in advance.

It will be the stock kernel that comes with the rom. Flash the test kernel again if you want it.

Hi to all, i've rooted my tf101g (b90) with nacho method.
which recovery is work good for my device? I see only recovery for tf101 but not for tf101G.
The same problem with custom rom.
The recovery and custom rom for tf101, work with my tf101g? I dont need 3g inside the device.
Anyone can explain me which recovery and custom rom work for my device?
Tnks in advance. (Sorry for my bad english) and the noob questions.
Ok, for the recovery i've installed the rouge 1.3.0 (cwm based) recovery with a simpli app. And the recovery work correct (i've used the search button correctly)
But i need a custom rom compatibility list for 101G. Please
Revolver has 3g zip file you flash after the rom i would read the op for revolver its a nice rom imo

Most roms have 3g cooked in now, and as far as recovery tf101 and tf101G are compatible. My recovery preference is the Rouge XM recovery, since it reads internal and external SD card. As far as ROMS, just make sure it supports 3G (like said, most do) I recommend ARHD or Revolver if you like the stock rom, and Megatron or AOKP if you like cm9/aosp roms.

I've downloaded revolver and megatron last roms (i'm search now for wowking kernels without bug).
If i try flash a custom rom without 3g, the tablet work? I dont use 3g because i use the tablet indoor and i have wifi always on!
I'm curious to try new roms.. I need overclock and max compatibility with games!
The tablet will work without 3g just fine, but 3g should work anyway on most roms.
The most stable kernel for me is the TestyMehIcs kernel,
I also had great stability with Guevor's 17c kernel, and his 19.3 kernel.
Both can overclock to around 1.6Ghz.

1.6 is very good! But the battery drain is very aggressive i think. Or not?!?

Hi nancho root does not work with firmware 9.2.2.4 on the Asus TF101G. Neither does viperboy ( which is just a script for nacho root). I think the only way to root mine is to downgrade to an earlier version of firmware.
I suppose Asus keeps changing the firmware to block the new rooting methods.
I am a linux developer so I will try and figure something out.
Thanks,
rob

I'm on 9.2.2.6, also a TF101G B90 running rooted stock 4.0.3 and would love to use the multi-user feature of 4.2. Which "stable" ROM is the closest to stock?

I'd say Android Revolution HD or Revolver, I have no idea if either are still supported though, or if any stock based roms have updated to JB.

If you want multi-user, you will have to deviate from stock. The stock ROM (and ARHD/Revolver) are still on ICS 4.0.3.
IMO, TeamEOS 4 is quite stable. It is 4.2.2 and I beleive with PPP Widget you can use the 3G functionality to some degree, but not the same as stock. Part of the reason this is not working perfectly in JB is because the stock ROM for the TF101G never went to JB (nor did the TF101).
Hi
If I rooted my TF101G with [TOOL]"1-Click Transformer Root"-Root/Unroot/cwm/stock rec-TF101(G)/201/300T(G)/SL101 and install Rouge recovery can i flash my pad with Android Revolution HD ?
Hi,
I have installed Matr1x kernel. I am using Stock ICS Rom only. Will the New Jelly Bean Update.zip work.
Can i install using cwm.

It should flash through CWM, but keep in mind it'll overwrite your recovery and replace your kernel.

Yea. My app settings stayed the same, but like I said, my kernel got replaced, which is expected. I don't use matrix though and seeing as the kernel sources vary, chances of it working are pretty slim, as seen above.

Your kernel will get replaced. I wouldn't recommend it because I've tried other kernels with the official OTA JB ROM and the experience wasn't as smooth. I have yet to try Matr1x kernel yet though.
No different versiĆ³n of Ndroid not supported at least yet ;D
Lets just say hes workin on it i would expect
So......official JB 4.1 won't work on my Matr1x kernel
