Thanks for the suggestion. I tried a few, favourite is dark knight 5 rom with Icy glitch kernel. It is very smooth and I get about 1700 in quadrant. I see some people get well above 2000 in quadrant. How do the achieve this. I know quadrant isn't really important but just curious on how people got scores like that.
Dave,

Quad is worthless imho

Cannot complain about my ROM. Enjoyed it twice - while cooking and while running!

Infinitum with Devil kernel 0.55 is by far the most amazing experience I've had on my cappy. And I've tried every rom and kernel config. Second best for me was Slim ICS and then Docs Master ICS v11. For kernels, Devils new i897 kernel blows them away, but semaphore used to be my favorite as it tweaked the most stable. Icy Glitch close behind in third but could be considered second by some for its over locking capability/stability. Keep in mind these are my opinions and what I've tested and works best on my device. Each device will vary.

Why do people keep saying that each phone runs better on a different kernel or Rom? Aren't they all supposed to be made from the same chips? I don't know which ones my phone like but i know that some work better than others.

I would recommend simply aokp.

because each phone's chips are made slightly different because a dust size difference can make a difference in the phone. It would be impossible to make every chip 100% identacle and cost efficient. Also, between builds there is slight difference that make them different then previous build

I've only tried Dark Knight and CM9 nightlies.. with stock kernel.. and DK was beautiful, but sluggish and glitchy for me. CM9 nightlies have been pretty solid and quick and responsive.

I have to vote for the latest simply aokp odexed version with devil kernel.

Best ROM threads don't last here. The best (fastest, whatever) ROM is the one that runs properly on your phone. Try them on for size and make your choice.

Repetitive Question but who has the best Gingerbread ROM?

I only ask this because I do not have a Skyrocket. My friend does, I rooted it a while back and now he said his ROM is giving him problems. I would normally flash and mess around with the ROM to see how it responds, but like I said I dont have one. I know ICS is fairly new so I dont want that. I need a stable, fast, good battery Gingerbread ROM. I will look in the dev section and do what i normally do, check options, and the last few pages of the thread, but any referrals are greatly appreciated without the normal hate. I will be going to his house prob thursday to hook him up, esp with the throttle trick as well
Quickwiz is probably one of the quickest roms IMO

I did not get a chance to flash a lot of different roms on GB mainly because I started late in the game on my skyrocket. But, I loved Mod's Stock MOD 2.

RE: Best ROM
True enough, they are all great! but for a noob who flashed all the roms the least buggiest so far is SKY ICS--- 4.2D-10 for me anyways.
Again there are different flavors to choose from and it also depends on what you use on your phone. Some bugs may show up days later.

All these guys are right cause there really is no right or wrong answer to your question. When it comes to custom roms its all about personal preference. What someone else really loves you may find out you don't like. So my advice is become a flashaholic like most of us here are and start flashing until you find that perfect custom rom that fits your needs and wants. Just remember to make a backup of your current rom before you start flashing anything that way you can always go back to what you have now. Oh and just so you will know design gears is about to release a new ics leak for the skyrocket soon according to his twitter account so you may want to wait and see what that is all about and the I'm sure plenty of custom roms will be based off of it soon as well... happy flashing...

It would probably be better to be more specific. A better question would be "which are roms are the most stable" or "which roms are the fastest" or maybe "Which rom has the most features?"
I personally am also trying to decide which rom to go with. I have a friend who owns a Skyrocket and he wants me to root the phone then flash a custom rom, so I'm looking into this. I think I'll probably flash Nexus Mod just because it looks like AOSP. Like many others, it has carrier IQ disabled and has been debloated.

+1 to sky ics for stability (iv flashed the aosp apps patch) it was giving me fc's on other roms but none on this one
nexusmod ics was good but the rom seems to start facing issues after a week of use (might be user error but others were also experiencing this) and also the rom has no further development as MOD has been bricked and has also moved to cm9.
AOKP - great rom that has just surfaced with some solid devs at work still has a few minor issues but this one will become a gem
cm9 - same as above, great dev support but it still has a few minor kinks to be worked out
The above post is right especially about cm and aokp
CM9 Skyrocket
The newish Slim ICS ROM is pretty good too. Gives you some AOSP apps and seems pretty stable and super snappy for me so far. But as others have said, just look at some of the ones with higher traffic and more recent posts and see what you like. Embryo is a nice one i you want a more stock exoerience. Dev is super responsive too. With the new leak and impending (hopefully) official release, they'll all be rebased anyway. TiBu Pro and nandroid are your friends.

[Q] Choosing a ROM

After owning my Skyrocket for a couple months, I'm finally ready to take the plunge and install a new ROM. I saw the how-to guide, so I should be set there, but I'm a little overwhelmed by the number of ROM's available here for the Skyrocket. It seems like Cyanogen is a popular one, but there are so many options! Would you all mind pointing me to a couple of the better ones to research further or tryout?
I'm coming from the stock Skyrocket ROM with WidgetLocker for the ICS lockscreen and have no complaints with the GUI, but then again I'm open to change since I don't know what's out there. My primary concerns are speed and reliability, however if there are new features that people find particularly valuable, I would like to hear about them. It doesn't sound like the ICS mods are stable enough yet, but if there are any ROMs in the works I should keep an eye on, I would be glad to know know about them.
Thanks for the help!
x2 I would be interested in what people have to say.
I recommend Embryo rom for reliability. It is very stable, but there's not a lot of themeing so it looks stock.
If you are after a feature-rich rom, try Sky ICS. It even has stuff from the Galaxy S3. It looks good with all the themes and add-ons available.
Embryo is a good into to ICS roms. Sky ICS is feature rich but might be a little overwhelming at first. CM9 is really good if you want an AOSP experience.
Cool, thanks for the feedback. I'll look into those. Any idea how they are for stability?
I'm having a really good experience with NexusMod. Not ICS, though.

I'm running seanzscreams latest build SKYICS 4.2E-8 (ULCE2) rom. Very fast, solid, dependable (been running it for a week so far). Has lots of customizations available. I noted approx 15-20% increase of battery life since GB.
Any of the Alien Builds are great. Especially the one for GB. But as the posts above say, SKYICS for features. If you're going to an ICS ROM, I suggest you use the one click first.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda premium
Back on nexusmod anyway... ICS is starting to remind me of Windows ME or vista. Meh... it works ok, I guess, but the last version is so much better!
ICS feels so bloated compared to GB. Even AFTER I debloat it!

Smoothest / Fastest ICS Rom

I'm using linaro version of cm9, and its pretty smooth and quick. What do you guys think though? I also heard that provision is smooth, and someone told me to try gummy. Idk, just which one would u say is fastest? Nexus beam (galaxy s 4g beam now) is said to b fast but i find it slow.

Codename is noticeably faster on mine and my wife's phone than the other ICS ROM's......Linaro felt sluggish in comparison. Just my 2 cents.

[Q] Fastest ROM - Suggestions for a minimalist!

Howdy XDA peoples, I'm not too handy with the search bar and I haven't come across a thread for this yet so...
>What is the fastest ROM for the Verizon Galaxy SIII? I'm going for minimal amounts of crap, as clean as they come, and as fast as they come.
>Also, Stock or AOSP, which is faster? I imagine AOSP.
>I'm not looking for kernel compatibility, which ROM is the fastest, just the ROM alone.

I personally find the fastest to be LiquidSmooth.
But no question you can narrow your search down to AOSP ROMs.

It might not be minimal but beans 13 with tk kernel is the best set up I've used. In my opinion I prefer tw over aosp. No lag at all and great battery life

I'm an AOSP guy personally, but I do greatly appreciate your input!
theres an entire original development section here. do some research and find what works best for you and what you need out of a rom.
being fast isnt a valid criteria.
nobody can answer this question except for you. put in a little effort, do some learning/reading, itll serve you well.
Here you go. All your questions answered:

I'm really just looking to see what others experiences have been, I've had my fair share of ROMs on this thing. Not as many stock, as I always felt they were slower, but still, plenty.
I also have done PLENTY of reading, hence the reason why I have never had to make a post before, I find my questions answers in my reading.
So I take offense to your comment ddurand. I'd like personal preference and input, not criticism on my research techniques.
everyones phone works differently. you just need to try things and see what you like and what fits you best.
theres threads all over like this with comparisons. heres another good one besides the one posted above (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2030478)
asking for peoples personal opinion will net you 10+ different roms to try.
dont take it too seriously, im just trying to help.
its just how it works. you need to flash ROMs to see what works best on your phone.
I think nottas paranoid android is a great candidate. Other than the pie interface and hybrid ui stuff, it's basically AOSP. It's also compiled with linaro. I think the minimal features really help keep it smooth and fast.
