just read an artical on androidcentral that the htc google nexus one got android 2.3.6.
In the meantime nexus s 4G got andorid 2.3.7 and the normal nexus s is still n 2.3.4
why do they forget this device where there are still lott of bugs with wifi and keeping connection with google.
Hopefully this will better with ics
Will the NS even get ICS? :/
Sent from my Desire HD using Tapatalk
if the nexus even got gingerbread and now 2.3.6 then the ns would get ics or i will never buy a nexus phone again
I'm really pissed at this too! If they were to give an explanation, fine, but there ain't nothing been said!
Sent from my Nexus S
I dont think the nexus one will not because google doses not want to but b/c of the hardware its too outdated it has little memory, ram etc so it will be buggy and laggy and goovle would prefer a much smoother experience I heard once it got gingerbread it was acting slow, nexus prime 4 me : D
Sent from my HTC Glacier using Tapatalk
2.3.6 was a bug fix for a bug the original Nexus S doesn't have, same with 2.3.5. 2.3.7 on the other hand brought Google Wallet which is Sprint Exclusive and since i9020t has GSM bands and not CDMA and can therefore not run on Sprint's network we don't get it.
The 2.3.6 update stared rolling out to Nexus S devices on September 2nd. From what I've read, it is mainly to fix the search button bug that has been affecting some NSs. So far I think only Canadian NSs have received the update, though.
I wouldn't be so upset that you're not receiving the update though because there are reports that it kills tethering and portable hotspot.
http://thisismynext.com/2011/09/02/...ate-confirmed-rolling-out-tethering-problems/
I wouldn't be too worried about ice cream sandwich. Google wants the open handset alliance to commit to 18 months of updates for all devices. (I suppose this would be 18 months from launch, rather than 18 months from whenever you happened to buy it.) I can't image them not updating a pure google phone for even 12 months. I wouldn't be surprised if the n1 got it, too.

Says the guy who is logical and not knee jerking. Why is everyone up in arms about not getting an update the targeted bug fixes NOT for their device? Outside of 2.3.7 you're not missing anything.
Wallet was always going to be a Sprint exclusive launch since it was announced.
If you want the latest build Google provides the binaries, source and instructions to build an AOSP rom. It's simple and you can easily always be as up to date as you would like.

2.3.7 integrated Google wallet withe the NFC chip that's in the nexus s. The nexus 1 doesn't have NFC!

I don't see any problem here. My 2.3.4 running i9023 is working just fine, without any search/tethering/reception/other problems, so I guess those fixes don't apply to my device
Maybe device specific fixes should have some kind of unique name? Like 2.3.4a?
If anyone is here to be blamed, I would point out Samsung for making at least 4 different devices named Nexus S with their own issues i9023 is not even anywhere officially listed as SNS...
Oh, and stock GB on N1 was not even close to be as good as on SNS. 2 second wait before call answer anyone?
Good day gentlemen
For the people with the original nexus s complaining...I feel you cause I have it myself. Yes at first I was pissed of about not getting updates. But after doing some research I finally realized we have in all the nexus versions have the perfect built. Update 2.3.5 brings better 4G reception for sprint users. I also wanted 4G but not noticing my phone does run hsdpa even though it says 3G. Update 2.3.6 brought voice search fixes. That we don't need. And now 2.3.7 it is not googles fault they wanted google wallet to get pushed through but T-Mobile has a deal with ISIS another form of mobile payment. So yes I understand your frustrations. But know it is not googles fault its your carriers like myself T-Mobile. And which I think tmo is no longer running the show but at&t. So be happy with your original nexus s it is the perfect built among others.
And I'm a proud user of my nexus s running stock 2.3.4 rooted

It will deffinately take off in time. We are confirmed for ice cream sandwich . So is the vivid . The only 2 confirmed for at&t so far. I think once we get our ics update more people will pick up this device
i hope so. this thing is a powerhouse i can only imagine what it would be like with some awesome rom choices.
Sent from my SGH-I727R using XDA App
A couple of reasons i think...
1) It came out in US and in Canada, solely. If half the devs are paying in Euros or anything outside of the dollar bill....not much left.
2) the GS2 hype passed when the i-9100 released. There were devs in the 9100 forum like it was the next Nexus. Can't really expect all of them to go out and buy this one too.
But Im still holding out hope for better development. :$

i agree. also if you look at the htc desire/inspire vs the thunderbolt, the thunderbolt had so many hurdles because of LTE. same with the galaxy S phones vs the samsung charge.
I have a friend that works for TMobile and said that ice cream sandwich is coming out on June 11 for galaxy 2, and not the blaze. is it possible for someone to mod a version for us?

Cool let me know I actually just got the s2 from a friend for 150 and no contract i couldn't pass it up lol
I just moved to one of these from a HTC Incredible I've been running ICS on since January and I have to say, it's hard to go back to GB, but the phone is just so much better and it's the only sub 4" phone that has a dual core procesor and is reasonably priced out of contract. Anyways, hoping for ICS sooner rather than later!
ICS will be out tonight for the Galaxy S 2 ...Anyone here how long it will be until the Blaze is updated to ICS?

I'm looking forward for the source to drop. Since the T989 uses the same general chipsets we do, I'm hoping the source will build and work for our phones (with a little coercion). It's amazing how little official msm8660 stuff there is out there.
I swear, finding source, info, etc on this stupid little phone has been a labor of love, and I run into dead ends everywhere I go :-(

You knew this question was going to come. Now that 4.1 has been announced, when are we getting ours?
This will take a longer time for sure, as HTC is still busy to release ICS
Jellybean dev kits are supposed to be released mid july. At least that's what this source says: http://www.foxnews.com/scitech/2012/06/27/google-announces-android-41-jelly-bean/
But it may be a while before we get a working ROM.
Given the time it took the CM team to release CM9 RC1, I'd say 6 months!

While ICS is quite nice, it is hard not to want the latest, greatest thing on our devices Still, at least the Nexus 7 is available to fulfil the JB goodness until it's available. That may end up replacing my Nook Color which hasn't been used in a month since it's ac adapter gave up the ghost.
HTC says they "don't yet have an announcement" for Jelly Bean on existing devices.
... I can't post a link because <10 posts, but there is an article on pocket-lint.com
That will only lead to an anemic SDK ROM. sure it will show us the cool new features, but I wouldn't expect much. I wonder how long it takes to hit AOSP

Actually most of the changes are internal. I think project butter is a big internal change. Although the One S is already very smooth, squeezing more performance out of the S4 is a welcomed thing

Google doesn't care
I remember reading recently that Google knows about fragmentation but isn't worried about it. Now that I'm tempted to buy a media device to have the latest and greatest software, I can see how fragmentation can actually work for Google because now more and more people will look to buy nexus devices.
the main reason i got a HTC phone is because unlike Samsung's strange choice in hardware it dosnt take 5 months to port a fast stable release from the MOD team unlike HTC
lets hope this takes off !
the one X got already a port

Developers need an ICS leak to make anything new, how many GB ROMs do you want? As far as the CM9 RIL has proved to be a huge problem. So no, developers still have Thunderbolts they just need something new to work with, instead of pointing fingers at them, point them at HTC.
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using XDA
While it's not the fault of the dev's, we have been forgotten. The thunderbolt is unfortunately old news and most likely won't have much more activity until we get ICS/JB.
Its more like HTC doesn't give a crap about our phones anymore. It's unacceptable that they haven't put out an update sooner.
I'm still here!
Most phones were forgotten (or stagnated) on Verizon when the Nexus came out. Anyone who didn't see that coming was just a tad short-sided.

I dont expect any additional development until ICS is "officially" released for the TBolt.

Bionic already has 4 ICS leaks...and blame HTC. Anyway, the Incredible S (GSM Dinc 2) got ICS today. Here's the thing - the Thunderbolt was replaced by the Rezound a long time ago, and it's honestly not that great of a phone anyway. It was the first LTE phone, but the specs were far behind other phones that came out before it. It will be nice when it finally does get ICS (and it will, but remember the 2.3.4 update took a very long time as well), but most people (like me) who bought this phone will have already moved on, or be well on their way to a better phone by the time it finally is released. As far as being forgotten by developers - not forgotten, but they have moved on to better phones. The Thunderbolt is old hat - 1Ghz Snapdragon w/ 768MB RAM, the developers have moved on to better things, for the most part.

That and point really at Google for.this messed up veal they allow which is so stupid. We need to stop overlays on android and have the same user experence as any other device a unified way. On touch six.you select wick widget it brings up any available wick if one is not already selected on sense and stock that does not happen. Not a great user way here.
