Hello,
So today I tried to fix my nandroid backup through adb shell because I was getting the md5sum mismatch. Once I fixed it I proceeded to try and restore it but then I got the "error while restoring boot image" and is there a way to fix this?
Thanks as always

When I am trying to go back to my previous ROM, I am getting the following error: "error while flashing boot image".
Initially i got "check MD5 failed" error. But after removing the spaces in the recovery file name, md5 error gone, but got error for flashing boot image.
How can I fix it? other than reflash.. I want to restore my settings.
Thanks in advance

any idea? is this error message depend on current ROM?
Hi,
I'm working on this problem for three days now, dont know what else I can do.
I have an htc one s (s3), hboot version 3.1.0, cid htc 612, twrp v 5.0.0.
My phone is stuck on the htc white screen (quitely brilliant, this build is for...).
I could not find the correct ruu in the web so I cant go back to stock.
When I try to install a rom, it just says:
Checking for md5: no md5 file found..
Skipping md5 check: no md5 file found..
Error flashing zip 'rom name'
And thats it! I cant even understand where it fails.
Does anyone have any idea how to fix it?
I keep working on it and still can't find a solution.
Currently all i want to do is to run "su" command, but i get the error:
/sbin/sh: su: not found.
I have tried to root my phone and it seems to be rooted, and I have no idea
what this error is.
Please help me solve that -
How can I run adb su while having no rom?
can you flash CM recovery?. TWRP have problem with some roms. I come across some roms that twrp will not flash, but cm will.
Unfortunately I can't :/
It installs the zip, but when i go to recovery in the bootloader,
It just get stuck on the "entering recovery" message..

If you can get into fastboot you should be able to flash a new recovery.
Yes as I said, it flashes the recovery but when I try to enter it,
It gets stuck on the "entering recovery" messagel
I'm updating the status in case anyone will have an idea.
I found out that my problem is not root, its that after I make changes via ADB SHELL, they won't SURVIVE REBOOT.
Meaning - if I change the cid, the changes will not be saved after reboot,
Does anyone knows how to solve that issue?
My ota got error every time,I already restore system boot backup from Twrp, and flash correct version recovery, but when I ota,it fail,I try someone's system.img buckup,it got some error, but didn't fail,it update complete, then I continue to update,it fail anain.
sorry about my bad engilsh.
So I wanted to install a rom and to do that I started by installing TRWP. Now in TWRP I wanted to make a backup if I wanted to go back but then It gave me an error saying "could not mount /data and unable to find crypto folder.".
Then I tried getting out of the recovery only to be presented by a loop of the boot animation...
What can I do in this situation? Thank you in advance.
I made a full backup via TWRP before testing out OOS13, and when did a wipe, and a full restore I got a Qualcomm modem boot error "Crashdump Mode".
I flashed a clean signed flashable zip od OOS11 11.0.12.12 and tried again and again. I have been 12h of trying so Im lost.
Long story short:
If I have a full twrp backup, how can I restore it and not get a Qualcomm modem boot error?
walthroughs of restoring are old and dont have the "super" restore option I includes more than just system.
Im at a loss.
Update: I got rid of the Qualcomm modem boot error "Crashdump Mode".
My problem is that if I restore the DATA partition, with or without other partitions, the phone boots, with logo, but the screen turns black and when holding power and/or volume I get a prompt that "com.android.phone" is crashing.
So in short, any solution for this? I thought a complete Nandroid backup would exclude these things.
It's normal to get the black screen and phone crash message after restoring data in TWRP. Just reboot the phone again and it should then come up cleanly.
Read the OP of the TWRP thread. It tells you to do this.

This is probably the link to the thread, and thanks, it was eye opening, disable password before restoring the data partition and removing the sim card might been what causes the com.android.phone to crash and the display to be blank other than the crash pop-up.
You'll find similar requirements for TWRP 12 when restoring a backup (look in the TWRP 12 thread in the same forum).
