Transparent accuweather and social hub widget - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Themes and Apps

Was not sure if existed.. anyway here is a transparent stock accuweather and social hub widget. Place them on /system/app (make sure are not running while replacing or you might need to restart phone). Tested on Gingerbread NoteHD v6.

Odd request but would it be possible to keep everything but get rid of the accuweather logo? LOL (keep the pretty blue background please?)

hi there,
i'm currently using stock ics rom and rooted. i replaced this file into /system/app folder and resetted. i received error message upon select the widget and forced to use custom weather widget again.

[APP] Animated Flipclock for Sense 2.2 ROMs

UPDATE 13 Nov 10...You can get the same newest ported version I have below, the stock version to revert back if desired, plus themed versions at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=817331&highlight=Desire
This is the animated HTC flip clock that came from the HD Desire port. The new clock features numbers that actually flip down as each minute and hour passes. This version can be removed, moved, or re-added as widget to the home screen (or other screens).
You must be Rooted…Make a Nand Backup, just in case…I’m not responsible for problems. It should work on any Sense 2.2 ROMs…YMMV
Apk version must be installed via ADB
Zip version flashed through Recovery
Jim
Credit to Myn for the apk version from his Warm TwoPointTwo ROM.
Thanks to Aamikam for flash zip version from his MikFroYo ROM
There are a bunch of themed ones in the Incredible forum.

These are to my knowledge strictly themed clocks for Incredible Sense. This one I posted looks like the original clock but has animated hour and minutes...they flip as time changes. It can also be added/removed/moved.

Thanks...had seen the themed and animated clocks before. Version I provided in first post can however be added/removed/moved as a widget w/o problems...that's the big difference. Sure one of the devs will use this version and make themed as well. Then we'll have best of both worlds
Jim
Not working for me... Flashed the .zip through recovery and now there's no clock. Have the "glass" background where the clock should be, but nothing shows and when you long press to add a widget or whatever, nothing happens. Move to another screen and do a long press to add a widget, and when you select the clock, you scroll over to #3 (the standard sense clock/ weather widget), nothing shows except a white square. Everyone else seemed to have no problems, so stupid me, didn't back up before I did this. Gotta figure out how to at least get my standard clock back. Don't know if anyone else has had this problem or not...

Dont quite get your point about the moving, adding, removing etc,
All the ones posted by tomh1979 below can be moved, deleted, added etc.
They have a bunch of themed as well as stock flip clocks. Actually first themed flip clocks i've seen.

The original ported HD Desire flipclock had the following issue:
"You must have the original sense clock installed on you home screen and install the animated flip clock thru recovery. You cannot add as a widget, you cannot remove and try to re-add later...etc. Once again, your original clock must be installed on your home screen, then boot into recovery and install from there and reboot. DO NOT wipe cache or davlik cache when in recovery."
All I did was take Myn's modified flipclock that could be moved, added, removed and made it available to others. Was not trying to theme it or anything else. Many are still using the older ports, even some of the themed ones, which have the above issue.
I just tested the ones from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=817331&highlight=Desire and it appears it's the newer port, plus there are themed versions...very nice! Will update first post.

[MOD] GenieWidget 1.3.04(PROD) Transparent

Just thought I'd share. This is GenieWidget.apk from CM7 with a transparent widget background. Just copy to the /system/app folder though adb or root explorer and replace the current apk. You probably will have to fix permissions and reboot for it to appear in the widgets.

I have a transparent genie widget that I have had for a while. can't even remember where I got it lol.
They are just apks and not embedded for just aosp, so should work on all roms. Most of the time you have to use adb tho.
Thank you to the OP, always nice to have more widget sources.

Cool, no problem. I use Update Zip Packager 2 by Daneshm90 to modify themes and/or zip single apks. It signs everything so no issues there. Really useful script, check it out.
Attached apk doesnt install on rooted xperia x10a running stock 2.1
Also, links posted for dark translucent version are down
Is there a program anyone would suggest to edit the stock 1.3.04 genie apk that I got from the xperia arc dump? What value should I change transparency to to match the dark translucent one posted here? Any help would be appreciated thanks.
sorry i know this is an old thread, but could you possibly get the links working for the dark tint? then would i use xrecovery to install it?
I put the files in my dropbox. I don't browse this forum like I used to and it's totally by chance I happened to see this today, but here ya go and good luck.

*Yes they are zips meant to be flashed in recovery.
I don't know how to edit stock apk's; these apk's were pulled from various themes. I also don't know much about xperias or xrecovery. They should flash just fine using Amon Ra.
Awesome thank you sir! I will give it a shot.
Is down :-( .
I added News - clear as a forums attachment so that link should be good, but I don't have the file tinted news.

if you are using adw launcher then just untick wallpaper hack under settings
or using any other launcher use multipicture live wallpaper for any wall pic you have
Ponda, this one has a pretty nice theme with it (plus transparent bar). Transparent bar works if used with Live Wallpapers (no black/opaque bar anymore!)

it only works with live wallpapers or, if i'm using adw, with wallpaper hack unchecked? since i flashed to kpe and then to kph, live wallpapers have been causing my phone to slow down at the home screens and while opening the app drawer. i'll still give it a go
i'm using clear glass theme at the moment. is there anyway to get just the transparent status bar (without the theme you mentioned)?
if u take the systemUI.apk from Version 2 and place it the already existing glass theme, the status bar will surely become transparent. but what i CAN'T say for sure is what else will be changed...battery icon, notification pulldown etc...if u wanna try it, just make sure u make a backup of systemUI.apk of the glass theme (system/apps/...) and then replace it with the systemUI.apk of this theme (Version 2). if u like the result, great. if u dont like it, just replace it again with the backup copy. as for ADW, i dont use it. search and download MULTIPICTURE LIVE WALLPAPER from the market (free version). Its a live wallpaper, but u can use ur own static wallpaper as the background (more than one)
ot it works! but now there's a bar at the top of all my apps that's a different color from everything else. oh well, trade off
multipicture wallpaper ALSO causes lag (a little on adw launcher, a lot on others). using the wallpaper thing now. i shud look into this live wallpaper lag....
thanks for the help!
LOL since the bar is now transparent, it keep changing according to the color of the app we are using i'll try the transparent bar over glass theme. Besides the bar, did anything else change?
everything about the notification bar except the battery icon changed
help? how to do this great motification bar??? the first i tried it bricked my phone and i needed to reflash
can somebody pls post a step by step procedure for this? thank in advance and may i ask if it is possible to flash in CWM the zip file???

this isn't really the help you are looking for in changing the text color but you could take one of the already themed Gmail 4.2 apk that has everything inverted (including the widget text), and then just make the same mods to the widget list transparency without needing to change that text color. i linked to the version themed by travp624.
https://www.dropbox.com/s/p10u379b4z791kx/Gmail_v4.2-blk.apk
or if you want to just use that as something to compare against to see if you can find the XML change, that would work to. i will take a look and see if i notice any difference in yours and his.

[MOD] Phone.apk / Contacts.apk with fake Holo style

Hi guys,
here are the deodexed versions of Phone.apk and Contacs.apk - I modded them to fit the Holo style a little bit more.
The "unknown" icon is a little bit difficult to fit the right grey tone, as the same icon is used in both dark and light screens (phone is dark, contacts is light) - I used the same icon as in my Messaging.apk mod.
Copy the apk's to /system/app - set the permissions to rw-r--r-- and delete the corresponding *.odex file if you have an odexed system.
If you want the new dial pad, you MUST use both files, as the phone uses the resources from Contacts.apk. Enjoy!
Think of a backup first!
Thanks looks good.. No chance to invert phone book?

Thanks, the apps look nice. By the way, the content of the Phone.apk is not changed, I mean it is still crippled Motorola's one not the AOSP? If so is it possible to replace it with AOSP or attaching the Internet calling part?

It is But for me it works good, I have no need for AOSP one. What advantage does the AOSP dialer have?
@wozn: regarding theming Contacs.apk: AOSP is light, too, and personally I like that. It is not that simple to change all xml's and resources, much fiddling around. Maybe some other wants to do that?
I would love to see a dialer like the one on xperia ray on my razr i. I loved it much more.
Thank you so much Shaftenberg for all the mods you have posted. Extremely slick near original AOSP look. Finally we get rid of the horribly customized Motorola style.
Maybe you could also change the launcher-icons of these APKs to the AOSP versions.
Also theres also still some ugly in app icons.
- If I hit the search button in either dialer or contacts I see an extremely ugly icon in the upper left corner (motorola contacts icon with a magnifying glass on it).
- In the phone app on the favourites view theres still the grey motorola "people"symbol instead of the stylized smiling AOSP face
These seem to be the last remains of the Motorola look.

Maybe try another launcher (Nova, Apex, ...)? You can customize yourself. Personally I don't like the AOSP icons for dialer (blue phone? bah...), so this is the place, where everyone can do it for his needs easily.

No, I don't have Moto icons there, only dark and light AOSP faces?! Sure you changed phone.apk and contacts.apk together?
Yes I changed both together. I added a screenshot to see what I mean. The grey silhouette of a head instead of the AOSP stylized symbol.
Yes, I already changed the icons in Nova Launcher, but I still can see the green dialpad inside the apps because the resource inside is not changed.
So this is no demand to change these things, but maybe you also would like to have a consistent look.
The small icons are Moto yes, but the faces are already AOSP
In Contacts they are dark grey, because AOSP-Contacts has a light theme. The phone.apk uses this resource from contacts too, unfortunately.
