Kernel 3 and future of desire s - HTC Desire S

Hi all.
I can see the anticipation for kernel 3 by Nexx building up in the cm9 thread.
Once it is released into the world by Good Guy Nexx, what will be the future for desire s. Will we just have more stable roms or will this forum become more lively?
Also, will this eliminate our reliance on HTC to release new kernels for us?

Check for a link on the the first post on CM9 from nexx
It lists down pretty much what we will see
Sent from a Desire S waiting for Kernel 3. WAKE UP HTC!!!!

I checked that. I was just wondering if introduction of kernel 3 would bring more than just update of preexisting roms or if it woupd attract more devs to give us new roms ported from other ics devices.

It's all hypothetical, wait and see

I have checked this ROM today. Seems ok, feels snappy but I had problems with camera (no preview before taking a picture, just black screen).

Hi guys,
is CM7 compatible with the sensation yet? although its available via Rom manager, i worry it would break & bootloop the phone?
Anyone running the software yet?
Kmobs is currently porting CM7 for sensation, its not ready yet, but follow @kmobs on twitter.
There is currently no public release of CM7 for sensation so don't bother flashing any CM roms until you see it posted in the dev section. Be patient its coming.
oh yeah i wont flash as i know what strange things happen, i do enjoy android dev.
im happy with Android Revo HD, just thinking about the potential benchmark OC scores in Quadrant
Give it another month or so before the first BETA hits. Those guys won't release junk.
Supposedly eta should be a week for a nightly build to come out.

Lack of dev support for Desire S

Just wanted to know people's opinions of the lack of aosp dev support for this phone.
I don't want to take anything away from the Dev's that have ported from other devices but i'd like an AOSP Rom that is developed specifically for the Desire S :/
Yes, there seems to be lack of dev support here compared o all the other HTC devices..
What I would really like is if we could have Android Revolution HD ROMs, and LeeDroid ROMs (there are great ports now from dhd)
But I would prefer support from the devs themselves

Currently there are multiple rom within this single thread in development, I'm hoping that they are all split at done point other wise it will be difficult to follow

Not as bad as an absolute lack of support.
The Kyocera Echo doesn't even have a recovery, stock or custom. We had root until 2.3.4 took it away.
Now we have nothing.
Should 2.3.4 be anything to be happy about without root? :|

It's been less than a month since Alpharev released their S-off, and an AOSP take so much more work than just copying a Sense rom and adding your own tweaks. Hydrogen Saga is the most stable AOSP I can find, andthis is also ported.
In time custom AOSP's built from the bottom up will come. I love not having any Sense.

I think it comes down to a quality issue. I never used a Cyanogen rom on the original Desire that didn't have a bug that wasn't already reported on the changelog. Not even a nightly.
Roms for the Desire S at the moment are coming with little Quality Control. We are the testers!

It's always great to hear news about OS's. How about camera artifacts in this release, is it fixed?

No buddy, this was based on GB, not ICS. I started this thread in a moment if temporary insanity and unchecked excitement, when i saw the main buiild bersion jump from 1 to 2... have been trying to hide ever since, but somebody or the other keeps waking this thread up!
There are no "Official" MIUI ICS builds for the DS currently. There is a partial (framework hybrid) MIUI from Galnet, but it's still GB mostly.
However, proxuser is working on a port of the MIUI Au, based on proper ICS, and you can try that (although like all other ICS, it's still Beta - with some issues still perisiting) Here's a link to that build : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1433617

New To Sensation Development So...

Hey guys I just picked myself up a Sensation 4G (Not new to Android Dev.) so I was thinking about creating,my own custom rom but wasn't sure what the Sensation guys like in their roms. I came from the Huawei u8150 were getting CM9 to run without a gpu was a move from the lord. So far I have tried Stock, Insert Coin, and Android Revolution roms all were great but I like a little cyanogenmod in my life. Would you guys like a new CM9 build crossed with a few tweaks of mean and fixes I find. Is so vote for it. Also reply with what you, look for in a rom.
C'Mon Guys I need feedback
At least vote, i would prefer comments but 1 peanut is better than no peanuts

I will start the rom today and if all goes well, I can have an early release out by Saturday. At first it will probably be stock cm9 with a few tweaks but then I will see what I can do about theming.
A CM9 ROM will be awesome. Are you going to try to get it working by yourself? You could get together with the open sensation project guys and make more progress that way. Just a thought

Welcome to the Sensation boards, and thanks for asking for input. I'm not a sense hater by any means, but I ALWAYS go back to AOSP roms. CM9 and Open Sensation are compiled nicely, but for some reason make my phone heat.
So, any build compiled from source would be welcomed. Each phone is different, hopefully your build keeps mah phone cool.
AOSP ROM with a Sense Camera would be loved by many, I am sure.

Yea I thought about speaking to them about it but I figured since I am newer to the phone I could try to mess with it a little myself before I go messing with other peoples work.
There seems to be a good number of sense roms and cm9 roms out there... why not try something kinda out there?
like a port of an xperia rom (I think Xperia S has the same chipset) or samsung's? (I know there's an xperia-ish rom out there but i think it's just aokp with xperia mods and I think that Sony's UIX is pretty good and not bloaty).
just thinking out there... porting something like that might be too much.
i have already begun working on rom but i'll keep it in mind. thanks for the idea
Cyanide X

I haven't had the time to make a thread for it I'm sorry. I've been taking finals and will be through next week. Though I will not stop working on roms. For now you can find the Rom in Rom manager. I try to post here when I get home

Testers for custom 3.0.16 kernel?

Hey guys. I was wondering if I can get a couple testers for my team's kernel for the Desire S. We would test ourselves, but none of us have the device
Either post in the the thread or PM me if interested.
I'll close this when I get enough testers or i release. One of the two.
