has anyone besides henchen (sorry if i butchered that) been able to get this to boot i cant even get m4xm4n cm7 to load up get stuck in heimdall frontend.

I don't believe m4xm4n's cm7 is formatted correctly to use the frontend. You will have to use cmdline heimdall (at least that's what I did). If you want a walkthrough, easiest way for me to help you would be for you to hop on the #teamnerd IRC channel.

Here's the wiki page. Both front-end and cli are there. It's really simple once you figure it out. I've been back and forth between MTD and BML a lot.

I just put the efs backup and restore .zips, the update.zip, and the latest gapps zip on the root of the sd card. I then ran the cm efs backup through recovery. Then follow this:
Windows specific
Put your phone into Download Mode and leave it connected via USB
Extract the Heimdall Suite files
Browse to the folder you extracted them to and open the Drivers folder
Run zadiag
Go to Options > List All Devices
In the dropdown, select "Samsung USB Composite Device"
Click on Install Driver and close zadiag
Click to collapse
Then i opened up a cmd prompt (windows 7), navigated to where i had unzipped the heimdall suite to, and ran
Code:
heimdall flash --kernel boot-05-10-2012B.img
BE SURE THAT THE BOOT.IMG IS IN THE SAME FOLDER AS WHERE YOU UNZIPPED HEIMDALL SUITE. Then after that, you should just be able to follow this:
Flashing CyanogenMod 7
Do a factory reset
CWM Main Menu > wipe data/factory reset
You might get a format volume error. It's normal, continue
Format and mount /system
CWM Main Menu > mounts and storage
format /system
mount /system
Flash cm7-efs-restore.zip
Flash the cm7 rom zip you downloaded, and the latest version of google apps
Reboot and enjoy CM7.

Click to collapse

thats my problem i cant navigate to that destination for some reason im on irc now

Move the heimdall folder to "C:" Then "cd C:\"

I am not sure about previous versions of Windows - but on Windows 7 you can hold shift and right-click on the folder you want the command prompt to open and select 'Open command window here'. Or open the folder and you can hold shift and right-click anywhere inside the folder and select 'Open command window here'.
Command prompt will open and you will be where you want to be.

That implies T-Mo is responsible if people brick their phones. And that bugs me to no end. I mean like to the point of really bugging the hell out of me. Anything we do is at our own risk.

well i thought the "lol" made it clear i was joking ... but i guess it's a bit confusing for any noob reading so i'll modify it to keep my joke but make it clear it's everyone for themselves lol .

I'd put it on Sammy's responsibility, for giving us such a hard time porting ROMs for this complicated device.

To apply just unzip the contents of the package below into the tools folder of the android sdk
How-to Enter fastboot mode .... While the phone is off hold down "Volume down key" and then "power button" hold both till you get a white screen with the androids and skateboards
to confirm your device is seen by adb use this command
Code:
fastboot devices
you should see your phone listed under the command you just typed. After that type the next command to flash the splash image
Code:
fastboot flash splash1 splash1.nb
Then you should see that it was successful and rebbot the phone and preview your new image by typing
Code:
fastboot reboot
Please Thank and post comments as needed, if there is any trouble i'll try to help if i can i'm rather busy lately...lol
There was a huge thread on how to change splash with win 7 and I am stuck in osx thanks for a tut on how to to it in fastboot
Thanks! I followed the instructions and applied it no problem. Makes booting up look seamless with Fresh's bootscreen
So I have been having nothing but problems with Sync, so have rooted, flashed and changed boot image by using a root file manager (which all have worked fine).
Where on the EVO is the splash screen logo located, so I can just manually apply it?
Thank you

I'm 99.9% sure that this image cannot be simply replaced in a folder but must be flashed, at least that's how it was for winmo
If you think about it this is where the carrier brands the phone the most, im pretty positive this is flashed to a specific partition
Am I missing something? I do everything step by step and it won't find fastboot command in the terminal (using OS X). I can't do anything.

Hmm that's too bad. My Vista sees my EVO, but it has an exclamation mark and the driver won't initialize no matter what I try.
Guess I'll wait till some other time then

Is there a way to flash from the EVO itself? I can copy files with no problem if I connect as a HDD.
add this file to the tools folder of android sdk or i think in OS x anywhere works as long as you direct the command line to it

No it is in fastboot
From what I gather a lot of people have this issue with Vista 32bit and HTC Sync. I haven't been able to track down a solution. Even when trying to use Sync..it always just errors and says:
Unable to find HTC Sync on your PC. Please make sure.....
Kind of a pain, but so far I have been able to do everyting I want just doing it from the phone with files copied over. Using the terminal emu or file manager

Help... Trying to flash the newest Tiamat kernal and Clockwork Mod

When I rooted, I used the one click method and worked like a charm. Now, I would like to learn how to flash the files via adb. I am a novice user of adb but have used it.
Right now, I am trying to flash the recovery.img file. Here is what I am getting:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
I have the recovery.img file in my /platform-tools folder. When I go to devices, I see my xoom listed and I do screen shots all the time using the ddms.bat file.
Can anyone tell my why my xoom will not let me flash files? I tried this a few weeks ago with the first Tiamat SDCard enabled kernal and it said the same thing, it wouldn't let me flash the file.
Thanks!
Your not actually changing direcotry into the correct directory. so when you call the fastboot command it's looking in the current directory of "c:\Users\Marc" instead.
cd \Program Files(x86)\Android\android-skd\platformtools
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot flash recovory recovory.img
Did you open the command line from the same folder you have the file you want to use? If not, open the folder you have recovery.img and the other files you will be using are in and hold the shift key on the keyboard and right click on the mouse. Then left click on "open command window here". Then run your adb commands.

Does this work using Vista? I do not see the option to "open command window here".
Duh, nevermind... I figured it all out. I was putting a \ after platform-tools so it wasn't actually opening the folder where the recovery.img file was. Told you I was a novice. But I am getting it!
This is why one-clicks are the root of evil. If you would have done it manually from the start, you would have already known what to do here . Also since you posted this in development, i'm looking forward to the release, although i'm unsure what you are releasing at this point...
Ok people... Let's be mature here and not flame other users. This is supposed to be a community, not a war zone. If something is posted in the wrong section, or there's a post that breaks forum rules, drop me a pm or report the post. Thanks!

hehe I was doing the same thing for a 1/2 hour before I realized that the recovery.img wasn't even in the same folder...got that sorted out tho..

Ok, here is step by step upgrade from Infuse 1.53 to Infuse v2 Beta 3 Custom Rom
1: If you have a /Voodoo folder on your internal SD card, delete it.
2: Download http://api.viglink.com/api/click?fo...a-3-full.zip&jsonp=vglnk_jsonp_13124967301111 update-infused-v2.x.x-full.zip, and http://api.viglink.com/api/click?fo...ernel-v1.zip&jsonp=vglnk_jsonp_13124965954951 Odin_Infused_V2_CWM_Kernel-v1.zip and copy both files to SDCARD
3: Install SGS kernel flasher from the Market.
4: Open SGS kernel flasher, select choose kernel, select Odin_Infused_V2_CWM_Kernel-v1.zip,
select flash kernel. Your phone will reboot and begin to enable Voodoo lagfix.
(this may take an extra few minutes).
5: Once the phone is booted, select "Recovery" from the power menu.
6: Select "install zip from sdcard" and select update-infused-v2.x.x-full.zip.
7: Go back to the main menu in CWM and select "wipe data/factory reset".
8: Select "reboot system now".
Have a great day,
Enjoy!

how do i get there
download "xchat" and install it.
when the server list pops up, we are on "freenode"... its a long list. in abc order.
then type in #infuse4g for the channel
or if you have aim just im me, whnangelsfall
i already deleted a voodoo folder within sdcard, but now i'm not sure if its looping or bricked. I went back and read the dev section and it does state that this step will take a while but its already been over 15 mins
well, part of the issue is that you already had a voodoo enabled kernel. so you can skip a few steps. go back to the v2 thread, and in the instructions GTG states if you've already got voodoo you can go to step 7, which tells you to just install the file to your sd card, boot into recovery and flash.
at this point, i would pull the battery. insert it again, hold both volume buttons and hit power for a moment or two. let go and you should see the samsung logo, and it should boot into recovery.

what this means is simple, you can do whatever you want with this software
Instructions are simple, this uses revolutionary's awesome zergrush exploit its just a slightly modified script from my transform-ultra AIO. anyways yall might be wondering why a sprint guy is here giving yall this, well its cuz my good buddy k0nane (the one currently working on removing ciq for yall) asked me to stop by the irc channel last night. we got some of the partitions mapped out and he told me that you guys can use zergRush so here ya have it
set usb debugging on (settings > applications > development > USB debugging)
Install teh drivers
plug in your phone and let teh drivers FULLY INSTALL
extract the entire root zip file (dont just pull what you want out of it, it doesnt work like that)
run the included batch file/sh file depending on your os
linux users i know youve got it handled but for you mac users that dont understand how to do anything more then dump money in apples pockets there is a readme in there
DOWNLOAD
also to make things easier for editing i have included a nice lil script
in shell or terminal use this command
# remount rw

please try re-running it again, if it says zerglings didnt leave anything interesting thats teh exploit failing
fixed - was a permissions issue on my end.
no adb is finding your phone, otherwise the exploit wouldnt run. its just odd that they arent leaving anything interesting. not sure why its not running the way it should, other people on this forum have said they used zergrush just fine, the reason why i posted this is so that you can have it done via script and have busybox and a remount script thrown in there.
here i had originally posted teh file with my old copy of zergrush, i had since updated teh zip with the latest from revolutionary. i reverted back to the old one try downloading it again and see where that gets ya
I ran it as administrator this time and it looks different, but I still get message about SU not found, even after rebooting phone.
ok well that time is because you didnt run it with adb.exe in teh folder
Hmm will def try this later tonight
Well, I'm sure I may be doing something wrong.
But I simply set my phone to usb-debugging and plugged in the usb cable.
Then extracted your zipped up folder and then right-click-run-as-administrator on root.bat.
ADB.exe is definitely in the same folder structure as root.bat.
hm well join the irc channel when youu get a chance we can work on this as bit more
If you are running windows vista or windows 7 and you are just right-clicking on the bat and running as administrator you are not running the adb.exe as an administrator. You should right-click on cmd.exe in the start menu, select run as administrator then navigate to the folder extracted. For instance if you saved the file in your users downloads folder then navigate to: x:\users\[user name]\downloads\Skyrocket-Easy-Root and then type root.bat and press enter. This will allow the root.bat to call adb.exe properly and will execute the process.
Hope this helps.

You're batting 100%!
Glad I could help. One post in four years yes, I signed up for this site a long time ago and then promptly joined the dark side by purchasing an iPhone about a week after that. After all these years I have wandered back and can hopefully be more of more use as I learn the Android OS.
Worked perfectly for me. Quick the lengthy root process (err rather how long it takes, its just 1 click lol), but mint!

I would definitely do that except I only have 9GB free on my SSD. When I get a hard drive to replace the optical drive on this one I'm getting Win7 for a dual boot setup, but when you only have 80GB.... Gotta have room for music and porn, ya know? lol
I'm assuming you mean Gingerbread 2.3.6? Cause under About Phone it shows 2.3.5....
Yes gingerbread 2.3.5 should have worked on that. There was a 2.3.6 update which is also gingerbread that wont work with the acs easy root. There is a program called heimdall which is like odin but for osx read this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=755265....
And go here for the files to flash on heimdall. Once u have it http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=755265 and lastly for futre refrence please post questions in the q&a section
Thanks for your help. I'm trying the ODIN method outline in this thread but using Heimdall instead. When I try to browse for the Recovery.tar to flash, Heimdall tells me that I need a firmware.xml file that is missing from Recovery.tar.
Do you know what I need to get this .xml file, or does someone have a Recovery.tar with the proper .xml in it already?
Actually you use heimdall to flash individual files not the entire tar so go here watch this its a how to use heimdal video http://m.youtube.com/index?desktop_uri=/&gl=US#/watch?v=6TgyaUbjcm4
I posted a solution in another thread about rooting from a Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion) here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=20440129#post20440129
Basically you need to modify the Linux-Mac.sh shell script in the Skyrocket Easy Root package.
You need to add a line to the script, "$adb wait-for-device". It goes after the "echo 'Wait for phone to reconnect...'" line, inserting as follows:
Code:
echo "Wait for phone to reconnect..."
$adb wait-for-device
$adb remount
It worked fine for me, but I don't take any responsibility for it.

OSX is an excellent OS. I use it all the time, also have a dual boot Win7/Ubuntu machine. But I prefer OSX as my daily machine.

In my opinion, you should acknowledge that some people have different preferences and even needs.
