So I was thinking of buying the One X car dock from AT&T but then I came across this great alternative!
It's a USB cable which activates the car mode in HTC phones!

That sounds like a good idea with that usb cable. I'll probably pick one up to go with the One X mount I got here: http://www.obostore.com/small-car-vehicle-motor-holder-mount-for-htc-one-x-p-5997.html

Did you receive the mount yet? Does it fit the AT&T One X? it doesn't say on the site if it's for ours or the international one.
That link goes to a Samsung Galaxy Note car mount. Is this the same one in the video?

Not yet, but I'm hoping it'll fit. From everything I've read, the AT&T HOX is only .4mm taller (longer) than the intl version, and these plasticky things rarely are built to such tight tolerances. I also got 2 of the Rock covers, both of which are made for the intl hox, but I'm hoping it'll fit the AT&T one. If not, I can always heat them up and make 'em fit

I would like a similar mount that would also fit an iPhone 4. It would be nice to have a dock that myself and my wife could both use.

Just received the universal mount today. It fits my ATT hox just fine as long as it's naked (case-less).

Does it seem like it will also fit with a snug TPU case on the phone?

Nope. There's no excess room in this car mount for any sort of case.
I ended up ordering the KiDiGi car dock because it's designed to work with or without a case.
Thanks for the response. That KiDiGi dock does look nice. When you get it, please post impressions on how well it fits with a case.

This is exactly what I did. Though, once the lights are out its surprising how much light still gets through even that. Granted its barely noticeable but just shows how bright the damn thing is.
I have that dock, it's so messy to attach the phone that I stopped using it - scared of damaging the USB port.
This is the "Official" one from T-Mobile. I love it. Works great as a daily alarm clock. Matches great with the phone.

Just get Spider podium bend it the way you like, and use the cable that came whit the phone to dock, since this is just a phone stand. And since you need a micro-usb cable for smth, just crab one from a local store for couple bucks.
http://www.breffo.com/product-information/product-info/
And here is my Spiderpodium: https://www.dropbox.com/gallery/11374881/1/Spiderpodium?h=d7c0f4
Best part, works whit every phone out there. so when you get a new phone, this is compatible whit it.
Rubber coating is great, and crabs on nicely. You could use this to mount your phone to bike, at least that's what they say, and it really is so firm that it would probably hold just fine. tough @ first glance it totally looks like its not going to hold it that well.
ust purchased a G2, waiting for it to arrive, but I always look around for accessories and gadgets. Those official T-mo ones are on ebay for decent price. Have some Hk knock-offs for cheaper as well.
I've got the cradle charger that was shown earlier on ebay earlier. It's also on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/GSI-Quality-Desktop-Charger-Data-Sync/dp/B004H6N7XA/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top
It worked great except for the problem with plugging it in every night. There are no guides to help aligning the USB plug. I have to fiddle with it for a little while before it seats. This has done some very minor damage to the usb port over a year.
I upgraded to an extended Seideo Innocell 3500MAh and now the phone can not dock in the cradle. Also the 2nd battery charger can not accomodate the extended size battery.
Docking this phone is an absolute nightmare. Had a car holder for mine. Took some nerves the first couple of times to fit it.
Has anyone recently bought the genuine T mobile dock show in this thread? Tried eBay, Amazon and google but just get many knockoff versions - any help appreciated thanks.
The one mentioned in this thread is kind of clumsy as you all say.
The spider one not only looks weird but not sure if it can do landscape.

Thanks, but I think the genuine one is exactly the right size so should be easy to use. The knockoff ones don't appear to have any guide so the lining up the phone with the power jack is guesswork. I think the genuine one should work fine.

Ok i love Otterbox cases. I have used them with all of my phones for years. What i don't like is the fact that they don't have a car dock for use with the case...........So i made one.
I had to contact Otterbox when i broke the clip on my holster. They sent me 2 for free! My wheels got to turning and i had an old windshield mount for a TomTom gps.
I mounted the old holster to the old gps mount. I drilled holes in the holster so that the camera will work while in the mount and so it can be charged. Not the prettiest mount but it works well!

Nice. I'm going to be doing something similar, shortly, with an Atrix 2 Defender holster.
I picked up one of these to use as the base, though...
http://www.amazon.com/Pro-Fit-International-NS-56-08-G3-Specific-2008-2010/dp/B002OHD8NI
Couple that with an aftermarket Bluetooth module that I'm going to install, and a dash-mounted USB port for charging, and I should be able to keep the wires to a minimum.
Any advice on cutting the holster? I've got an old Dremel that I intend to use, and my plan is to cut away the middle section of the holster's bottom, so I have easier access to my microUSB port.
Regards,
Corporate Dog
cool
But the defender case is too bulky to fit in the "phone" pocket of my many cargo pants/jeans/shorts.
So I just use this with my Otterbox Commuter Case.

It works quite well. It's been mounted to the windshield of my truck for 2 weeks now, and is still gripping strong. I think it'd work w/ just about any smart phone. I'm thinking of getting 1 for my wifes car, for when I'm driving. They're not expensive.

From what i can tell the phones are very similar in size. I am going to grab the bike mount from this site and take my chances. They all use the same piece to hold the phone, so I will update this post with my findings.

Won't fit. I have Defenders for both the original and the Atrix 2 and even checked. Atrix 2 has a larger screen size and therefore needs a bigger case than those custom designed for the original.

i found my old slipgrip mount that was built for the htc desire hd with the otterbox defender. It fits the atrix 2 with its otterbox defender perfectly.
I love these things because they have so many mounting options (clamps, bike mounts, suction cups ect.

I love my AT&T One X, and it's pretty big without a good spot to go in my 330i where it can charge and not be in the way of shifting. I also really want a car dock to make use of the car mode/google nav. AT&T isn't getting $60 for their version from me either
on Android Central someone mentioned the Evo 4G LTE dock at Sprint stores works for their HOX, so I checked it out. It's built by iBolt, and looks very similar to the one being posted in this forum.
You get the dock, windshield mount, dash sticker, no cable or charger.

Car mode fires right up, and it shuts off when you take it out. Fits great!
Top clip fits like it was made for it, the Evo must have the same profile on the side.
This piece slides out so you can use a phone with a case in it.
With the PT case/holster from Worst Buy, it sits a little high on the micro usb plug, and tilts down towards the right, so you should be able to use an even larger case in it like the otterbox or ballistic.
https://pael7a.sn2.livefilestore.co...0oQIUjhZ5zo9eqKjUeamlXHF/WP_000117.jpg?psid=1
Similar fit on the top again, definitely usable!
Impressions:
I have a Case-mate barely there shipping from Amazon that should arrive on monday, i'll try to grab a few photos when it shows up. The only real issues are the small Sprint logo on the front, and the fact it may not sit flat with some cases. If I was planning on using the same case all the time, I might put a piece of rubber in there to flatten it out and relieve some stress on the plug. It's a little chunkier than I'd like, but it'll do.
Thank you just bought it today from sprint shop.

I'll give it a try tomorrow, i've got an older Garmin GPS (Nuvi 200 or 205).
Also, this seems to be corporate only stores at this point. The first store I called was actually a reseller, didn't carry it, and told me to check out a corporate store.

For anybody curious, I have a Spigen SGP pouch for my galaxy nexus and it holds my nexus 4 perfectly. Actually, I would say it fits better than the galaxy does. It's this one in black: http://www.spigen.com/sgp-samsung-galaxy-nexus-leather-case-crumena-pouch-series.html
I've had the brown Crumena for ages and I agree, it fits the Nexus 4 better than the Galaxy Nexus.
Been rocking it on my Nexus 4 since Friday.

I wrote them and asked if and when they'd release a version made specifically for the Nexus 4 and have yet to hear back.
Need more people to write them asking for a Nexus 4 version of the Crumena leather case so the speaker holes line up and maybe something for the LED notification.

Make sure you post what you find. I'm in the same boat as you.
I may just buy the GS3 version of this case and punch out a few holes for the speaker. Size is similar and I'll have the bumper on my N4, so it should be a pretty good fit.

OK let's keep each other informed on the cases we find and try.
I have this one by PDair for the Galaxy Nexus, and I really like it. The N4 fits in it pretty well, too. It's slightly tighter, but the fit is good. In fact, I was initially planning on buying their N4 version when it comes out, but I'll likely just keep the GNex one for it.

I am using the one for a HTC One X. It works but is just a bit too snug. I am pretty sure the one for the galaxy s3 should be perfect. Not sure if they will release one custom fit. The speakers works fine with no issues.

Thanks for that info. Makes buying the GS3 version easier as I don't have to worry about improper fit as compared to the HTC 1X.
I still haven't heard back from Spigen about a N4 specific case (poor CS); so unless I hear back from them confirming a N4 specific case is on its way before my N4 ships, I'll just order the SG3 and be done with it.

I have the car dock version. My phone has a Case-Mate Barely There on and it fits perfectly. I would think it's safe to assume that the desktop dock is fine too. Just know that you're putting additional strain on your usb port since it seems like it's the only thing holding the phone up.
