Hi !
I am {otherwise} very happy with [ROM] Virtuous Inquisition 4.0.2 but...
If I try to import contacts from a .vcf file located on the SDCard (/sdcard/Download/00001.vcf), the contacts app goes so far as to find it and when I validate the choice, it crashes (forces close).
Any idea why ?!..
Cheers !

Thank you for the answer but... {I might have not been really clear here} the procedure you describe is the exact one I use. From people (or contacts, or phonebook... whatever one calls it), finding choosing ticking and validating choice is FCing the app.
The only thing that works, for now, is syncing contacts from a Gmail account.
No biggy but still..
Thanks anyway !
alternate workaround
I ran into a similar problem using a vCard file produced by the stock Gingerbread contacts app before flashing the VI 4.0.2 ROM. Logcat complained about the N property not being recognized by the vCard importer. Looking at the .vcf file, the output looks more like the vCard 4.0 format examples from Wikipedia's page labelled as vCard 2.1. Changing the version to 4.0 failed as unsupported but changing the version to 3.0 seems to have worked fine.
This may be an option if you don't want to go through Gmail.
Try fixing permissions via recovery =)
Hi on VI 4.0.2, I did not have any problems with contacts importing
I did not loose any. Perhaps use your Google contacts maybe this will help you! Good luck

I thought it would be a good idea to start a central place for all manila related hacks\edits. I'll post all my Leo Hack\edits here, but others are welcome to do the same. The will be included in the first (few) post(s). I'll post them all in the in the public Leo shared folder, to which we can all upload.

Alarm Hack Home Tab
This is a script that let's you create your own alarm hack on th manila 2.5 home tab.
Supported alarm applications:
- G-Alarm
- SPB Time
- Klaxon
Changelog:
v1.1
- Made it foolproof by adding various checks
- Combined the 2.1 and 2.5 version to a single script
- Added choice.exe to the Tools folder since older versions of windows do not have this
v1.2
- Added support for CradleAlarm
v1.3
- Added simple logging
Guide:
When you double click the .cmd or launch from the command prompt it will:
- Ask for the version of your Sense (2.1 or 2.5) Leo = 2.5
- Ask for the name of your storage card (case sensitive) -> no card, hit ENTER
- Ask for the name of your "Program Files" folder (case sensitive) -> if you hit enter it will be name "Program Files" by default
- Ask for the name of the alarm application
- Ask if you would like to have a cab created or just the manila file (for cooking purposes)
- Create a cab called: "12aon Alarm Hack Home Tab.cab" which needs to be installed in main memory (where the manila files reside)

the path where GAlarm.exe is located like:
WWE: (\Program Files\ageye\G-Alarm\GAlarm.exe)
12aon. Can I ask something. If we install G-Alarm, I'm guessing your CAB above will link into it from the alarm button on the home screen yes?
Great hack, thanks
Please note that G-Alarm must be installed in main memory to use it.
Seems like a neat little program, unfortunatly it doesn't work on the Swedish version since the path is \Program\ageye\G-Alarm\GAlarm.exe instead of the international version which have \Program Files\ageye\G-Alarm\GAlarm.exe
Good and useful app. Thanks.
WWE works on my French ROM
May it work also on other device than the Leo?

I'd love it if there was a cab that would work for if GAlarm was on the storage card too. It should pose no problem to a man of your calibre
Storage Card\Program Files\ageye\G-Alarm\GAlarm.exe
Pretty please

To me that seems highly unlikely, as I edited the lua source code directly. Therefore uninstalling G-Alarm would be as likely to break the the shortcut without my fix as with my fix. I posted in the thread and we shall see,

I was waiting for this request to be made, but alas. I'm cool with making edits for different languages, but to make edits as well for the storage cards with all the different languages and different names for different cards will only get confusing in my opinion. For now if you want this to work install it in main memory, your HD2 will be able to handle that,

This was my complaint, don't worry you just need to soft reset after uninstalling at it's fine
Wouldn't it be possible to make it either search the device for the galarm.exe or ask the user to point at their installation?
Just a thought
I like the idea of this tweak. I just can't be bothered reinstalling the app
I confirm in french ROM the path is also :
\Program Files\ageye\G-Alarm\GAlarm.exe

I know it was your complaint. Was just flagging it up in the original thread. I thought maybe a soft reset would fix it.
I wasn't stealing your thread or anything. Was just making it known

Because reinstalling a WinMo app takes forever chimp...
Just reinstall the program if you want it to work. It takes all of what, 5 mins to do.
Hello all,
Yesterday I successfully flashed my Samsung Galaxy S Plus (i9001) to broodROM RC2 (v2.3.6) and everything works fine except one thing – my dual-sim adapter (Hypercard 3G) is not detected anymore and also the SIM-Toolkit application disappeared. It worked perfectly under the stock rom 2.3.4 before. I assume that dual-sim adapters are not supported by this rom. However for me the dual-sim functionality is essential and I don't wont to miss it. Is there any solution available for this problem? Are the stock roms XXKPS and XXKPU (2.3.6) supporting dual-sim adapters? I would of course prefer to keep this rom because it's working really smooth.
Thanks in advance for your helpful hints.

Hi, I just discovered similar. In boodRom is not SIM toolkit application (Stk.apk). I just take it from another rom and place into /system/app. Application works and I can send message from my bank application but I can't receive any message. Probably somethink else is missing. I will try with another phone/rom. I need SIM toolkit for access to my bank account ;(
K.
EDIT: So it works. There was some delivery delay and also GO launcher didn't display message. In this state it's acceptable for me.
send a pm to broodplank1337 , the dev of the broodROM .. cos i dont think he reads here.. or get over 10 post and make a post in the broodROM section (under > galaxy 9001 development)
Hi,
thanks for your reply.
In the meantime I flashed the cranium 8 rom which also works fine. The stock Sim-Toolkit of the hypercard 3G still doesn't work, but the MultiSim app from the market works satisfying. So – for me the problem is solved and there is no urgent need to go back to the broodROM anymore - even if your solution works.
By the way – I tried out the MultiSim app also under BroodRom RC2 before – it didn't work, resp. it didn't detect the second SIM.

Hi, broodrom is rooted so just copy Stk.apk from attachment on SD card. After that use some file manager which can access system folders and move it into folder /system/app. Now I'm not sure if I set permissions but all files in this folder has 644. Reboot phone (maybe not needed).
If you are not familiar with linux use X-plore file manager. There is SD card under "/sdcard (sdcard)" and target folder under "/ (Root)". Before copy/move file you must go into Configuration and permit Root access.
If you have still problem with that send me PM.
Hi in post [Fixes][30Jan] ICS Problem Fixes / Mods
[28Jan]Ringtones dont stick on reboot
If your having problems with ringtones sticking on reboot, seems to be especially a problem for custom ringtones, create a new soundset with the ringtone in and that will sort it for ya thanks to malybru for the fix.
I want to know how to create a new soundset to fix ringtones in ICS on reboot with ARHD 6.2.1
Thanks

It's alright big thanks, it was so simple in fact.
Thanks a lot.
I presume that this is for Sense ROM as my senseless ROM doesnt have this option in settings.
Any idea how to create a soundset with a senseless rom?
I confirm it's for a sense rom i'm with arhd 6.2.1

Hi,
You can also stick the desired ringtone straight into:
system/media/audio/ringtone
Thanks for the replies.
Having copied the ringtone to the system folder I am still getting the default tone after a reboot
I'm facing same issue.
Created custom sound set with my ringtone included, but still after reboot, the default ringtone is selected. See my signature for more info.
make sure its the correct folder there is one that is incorrect. i had the same issue and found i placed them in the incorrect one
Hi everybody, i created a Sound Set but after rebooting or removing my SD Card it keep the main ringtone :/.
So it seems that everyone is only asking the same question with no real answer except for creating your own sound set... and even then people report that it's not working right. And what "correct/incorrect" folder are you talking about?
Found a fix
While trying to find a fix for a ringtones not staying after reboot, I found some info on another problem (custom ringtones disappearing when connected to USB as a hard drive), and the suggested fix worked for our problem!
I got it fixed by copying all the ringtones from sdcard/ringtones and sdcard/media/audio/ringtones into system/media/audio/ringtones (root access required), and changed the permission with the use of ES File Explorer or alike...
Hello everbody! I want to know what is the best custom rom. Is Lumiatrix^7 4.1 Or RainbowMod v1.3?
Another thing Lumiatrix^7 4.1 is an update of Lumia^7 v3?
Which of these do you want?
Sorry for my poor english...
Hi there...
I have tried them both on my Lumia 710, and in my opinion RainbowMod v1.3 is the best!
Lumiatrix^7 4.1 rom seems to have a few bugs.
I started out with Lumiatrix^7 4.1 rom but ran into some "strange" things and a few bugs almost right away so I desided to flash the RainbowMod v1.3 rom instead. Now everything is working fine on my phone and I have not found any bugs.
hi. I've had a Rainbow Mod 1.3 installed some time ago. In general it was working pretty fine except: I couldn't configure MMS messages (the problem is very common for Lumias, can be fixed by installing and using the Network Setup app but I failed to install v1.6.0.0 from 4pda (doe to some error) and it is absent in Marketplace). This was critical for me and I decided to update. Moreover the newer core was released but Tolik (RM author) wasn't ready with new update to RainbowMod so I decided to try the Lumiatrix7_v4.1. The update was fast and successful. I had to re-link all my contacts with the facebook and linked-in contact list again (btw, does smb. know how to avoid that?) and reinstall some of the apps. People are saying about better operational speed... being hornest I didn't notice that. I am missing some useful tools in Lumiatrix e.g. ActiveSync, Operation list linked to the Search button BUT I have managed to get my MMS working now! So I am kinda happy

Did network setup app 1.6 come with your rom or did you install it by itself? Also, can you access the mms settings in the network setup 1.6 app?
I can't find it on xda so let me know if you got it off the rainbow rom preinstalled or if you downloaded and installed it from separately

Go in contacts>settings(press menu button)>click import from sd card. It should automatically select the vcard. If you have two v cards then select the latest.
If still the problem persist trying flashing another rom. or reflash it again
Edit : Keep your contacts synced with google account, you wont get such problems henceforth.

I'm on MIUI V5 and now suddenly I cannot import my vCard files anymore - <Couldn't import vCard.> With a previous of MIUI it always worked without problems. Yesterday I spent quite some time trying to figure it out and I suspect that Android 4.2.2 has some incompatibility issues with vCard format 3.0. As far as I could test if one uses VCF files in format 2.1 or earlier the MIUI import would complete successfully. My problem right now is that all my vCards are in format 3.0 and so far I couldn't find any converter software that can downgrade them for me without data loss
I really need this feature because I want to keep all my contacts only locally and not synched to any Cloud service. Did you get any far with your problem? Any information you'd like to share?
UPDATE: I spent again a lot of time playing with my vCard 3.0 files yesterday and I finally found a way to format them in a way that MIUI accepts them as contact imports without errors. By using a text editor - UltraEdit, and some simple JavaScript scripts to batch process all my 434 contact entries I basically made the following 4 adjustments:
- Remove all unnecessary entries included by my proprietary contact application - Lotus Notes
- Include a line breaks before the "PHOTO" line
- Remove all line breaks that occurred when a entry value was too long and broken into multiple lines
- Remove all semi-colons in the "ADR" line
I hope this helps!
Here is the best solution for Importing VCF Files with the help of Softaken Vcard Importer Tool. This software safely converts all Multiple VCF files into OutlookPST. This tool allows Import Vcard Files easily without any interruptions. I hope you will really like the tool due to its instant result providing facility and reliability.
