They appear as accented latin characters, rather than japanese symbols. I tried installing the keybaord and stuff, doesn't work. It works in Gingerbread, but not 4.0. Any solution? Thanks
Help anyone?
Did you try installing Google Japanese Input from the Play Store?

I did. I installed Japanese IME and the google ones. Neither worked. Its a shame since I really wanted to use that app(TenguKana) to learn the Kana. I've switched to another one, but its not nearly as good.

Is there anyway we can keep all of the functionality of Google Now such as cards and commands without changing the entire UI to English US? I found a mod on XDA called International Google Now, but I highly doubt it will work for here as well, since it was for Jelly Bean when Google Now was just an app and not such an integrated part of Android.

First of all I tried changing the Google now voice to English US and it works and everything but doesnt use all the great features.
The only way was switching my phone lenguage from spanish to english :/
I am thinking of importing one of these phones to Europe from China. I've read the reviews and seen the videos and I am sold. The only thing holding me back is that this is a phone created for the Chinese market and I live in Europe.
Will I be able to change the language to English and remove the Chinese language from the interface. The videos I've seen show the device using the English language but there are still a lot of UI elements in Chinese (i.e. a video showed someone writing a message using an English keyboard but even that had some Chinese buttons).
Another video showed the installation of Google Play Store (as it does not come preinstalled) and even the Google apps had Chinese text written next to the English name of the app.
I'm fine with all Chinese text in Xiaomi apps like their own app store (as I will not use those apps) but I would like the rest of the phone be entirely in English.
Thank you.

The OS default has English as an option. But bear in mind, the phone is designed for Mainland China market,so some software, features you will not be able to use it else where. Surely ,can flash with your own ROM. It is a great phone with competitive price.

How much did you pay for it?
Is it announced a UK release date in UK?

I ended up paying 385 Euro for the 64GB version. This price includes DHL shipping cost to have the phone shipped to Cyprus. I also expect to pay import charges when I receive it.
I don't think they announced any releases outside of China. From what I remember reading online there might be an international version of the phone coming out during Christmas.
The retailer price for MI4 64GB is about 320Euro then you can work out how much the shipping cost would be.

Yeah, don't worry about the language. Just use the multi language ROM from miuiandroid.com. Comes pre loaded with Google play services, Chinese apps are removed, and is pre-rooted. It is also updated weekly with the official MIUI ROM.

Uninstall Chinese
1. First download the developer rom from en.miui.com/download-240.html
2. Flash the rom as per the flashing instructions provided.
3. Install the application from Play store - Unininstall
4. Provide root permission to this application
5. Uninstall chinese apps especially - Google pinyin input

Download latest cancro zip from xiaomi.eu and follow "2. Flash MIUI ROM in Recovery" guide.
Is the ROM available at http://en.miui.com/thread-51839-1-1.html is for the 4G-LTE one?

Hi I downloaded 8.5.5.0 and when installing with the updater app, I receive a message "Cant verify update - its not allowed to upgrade to unofficial ROM package"
Do I need to change any settings ?
Hello, since yesterday I am a proud owner of the Honor Magic 2.
But how can I change the language of the stock HiKeyboard?
As you can see in the screenshot, there is no possibility for adding a language.
I want to have a german keyboard...
I hope someone can help me,
with kind regards
DGB
The only thing I can think of is, to install google services (if you don't have it) and install any keyboard app you like from play store
Hello. Does anybody have a clue what is happening to swiftkey keyboard?
There is supposedly a great update to v7.2.6.* but it is impossible to get it, i cannot check it from play store directly as I do not like gapps but with the alternatives:
Yalp store (play store front end) - "the app cannot be installed" or something
Aurora store (play store front end) - there is NO Swiftkey Keyboard there at all...
Aptoide - there is v7.2.3.24 which wont allow to resize keyboard to large enough..
As a conspiracy theory - Swiftkey Keyboard is inbuilt in most huawei devices I think... Huawei has stopped exclusively offering bootloader unlock codes from late summer 2018, Huawei is being disputed more and more in the western world due to economy politics... Whats going on? Should I be afraid of this keyboard? I'm not letting it to access internet anyway
Any ideas? Or maybe anybody has the 7.2.6.* apk? It doesn't seem to exist anywhere else than Play Store with its bug
All that I have found from open web is [email protected] and it has a weird blue android icon (not swiftkeys) and it crashes.
Thanks
Huawei has nothing to do with Microsoft.
Also, I have this version, updated yesterday, I can extract the apk if you want.

Hi community,
I am too afraid of bricking my phone for googlefier, but I came up with a solution that works at least okayish for me: The ourplay app.
I had to not only set my phone to chinese but I also ended up buying a chinese simcard so I could change my language back to english, but it does work okay. A bit of Google translating is required, and it won't always make sense, but it works alright.
For my fellow Pokemon Go Players: No, it doesn't work for me. I think buying VIP might make it work but my Google Translate's Chinese to English translation is a bit messy. --> If anyone got Pokemon Go to work in Ourplay, please share your secret with me!
I would love to discuss the Ourplay solution with you guys on here.
Hello! Have you tried Googlefier? I'm on .182 firmware and installed it without a problem, it even upgrades google play services from the play store itself. Just skip the part that reminds you the incompatibility with software and see what happens. Otherwise try Aurora Store. Pokemon Go uses a lot the GMS framework and cores app so if you can't install completely the GMS i think it can't function correctly. Sorry for my bad english, i hope this can be useful.
I tried googlefier, but it just didnt work for me. How many tries did it take you to get it to work? Did you try it on a P40?
Yes i've an ANA-NX9 device. At the First try It installed and works perfectly from that day, in android auto works the voice match too! Is your device european? I've bought the device from eBay and It Is a brand TIM, but can't see any TIM app or custom logo in It.
