Ok, so this is my first time trying to return my phone to stock. Before rooting I packed up my system and have the file and it shows up in clock work under restore. Will restoring it return my phone to stock or should I run odin and the tar? '
BTW I am running stock rom, just deleted the bloatware. Thanks.
If you made a stock backup right after flashing cwm you can restore it and then all you have to do is odin the stock 3e recovery

I have rooted my LG G2X and flashed the Clockwork Recovery image using ROM Manager. I have read that this is a "fake flash" but I have booted into recovery using ROM Manager and done a nandroid backup and it seems to work fine? I have a 2 GIG SD installed and it looks like Clockwork only works from the external SD card?
I am running the stock ROM at the moment until I can find a stable custom ROM to use as my daily driver. I want to keep the phone rooted and the recovery image intact until I find a stable custom ROM.
I am looking for the procedure to flash back to stock recovery and unroot if I have to return the phone for repair to T-Mobile in the future. If there is a stock recovery image that can be flashed using clockwork or a one-click method, I would greatly appreciate it.
I have the G2X Model LG P999
If you continue to boot into CWM using RomManager (for now) your stock recovery is still intact. If you want to return to stock from the point you're at, stick the stock nandroid restore image on your sd card and restore it. Then uninstall Titanium Backup and unroot the phone using the SuperOneClick root program. If you would like to continue flashing ROMs I suggest doing a *real* flash of CWM (which you can still reverse in the future) in case you end up in boot loops and cannot access RomManager. I have a kind of complex, quick question. After I rooted stock but before I flashed CM7 on my G2x, I followed the guide on the CM wiki for flashing clockworkmod recovery through ROM Manager and ended up "fake flashing" my phone back to factory settings. However, I made a nandroid backup first and then followed the guide here on XDA for flashing NVFlash using the NVIDIA drivers, and successfully flashed CM7. My question is, I want to go back to stock to upgrade to the OTA with the new baseband and was wondering if it's safe to flash that backup i made with the clockworkmod recovery that fake flashed my phone or if I should just play it safe and download the stock 2.2 rom listed on the guide here?

Thanks for your help.
I went ahead and flashed the backup in question and it seemed to work. I then reverted everything to stock (ROM, recovery, unroot), tried the LG updater which failed, bricked my phone (stuck on S/W Upgrade), followed the unbrick guide, and successfully got GB OTA running on my phone, so mods can close this thread.
I replaced stock recovery with Clockwork Mod recovery after I used One-Click Root. I would like to go back to stock recovery, before I one click unroot and return this phone to At&T.
Any tips to go back to stock recovery?
I saved the stock recovery as recovery.orig before I did anything. It is save in my /system/bin folder..
Flash to stock and return the phone - it will remove the CWM from the phone.
I was trying to avoid flashing to stock, only because I see some people had problems.
I assume they must have had "repartition" checked when they used ODIN.
I am assuming it should not be checked, correct??
If your using the PIT file then Odin will repartition it. YOU wont need that. just dont use the ultimate one brick use gtg's other return to stock with just the md5stock.Tar file and you should be ok.
even if you use the ultimate unbrick with the pit files(which i have used numerous time) you should still be ok.
Help! I want to restore my phone to a previous nandroid backup, however, CWM stops on restoring boot.img ......everything else can be restore except for boot.img.... passes md5, but just gets error when flashing... now can't boot.... stuck at the boot screen...

Are you restoring a nandroid for an ICS rom within blue CWM recovery? If so, and if everything else flashed successfully, you can try flashing an ICS kernel image using Heimdall or Odin. If that doesn't work, then you have a borked nandroid restore and need to Odin or Heimdall back to stock Gingerbread and start over.
If you happen to be trying to restore a Gingerbread backup (which I don't think is the case, since you mention a boot.img), then you need to get back to red CWM recovery to restore the Gingerbread nandroid backup.

Download one of the MANY fine heimdall or Odin packages here. They are available in rooted or unrooted.

Question regarding going back to stock,
I installed CleanRom and feel like it's using more battery than stock bloated.
Can I use CWM recovery to go back to stock nandroid that I made?
So I followed the methods on this forum to install the ROM,
Root,
install CWM,
make nandroid backup
unlock bootloader,
flash Cleanrom
Can I use the nandroid that i made to go back to rooted stock rom? or do I have to go back completely?
You should be fine using the nandroid as long as you do a full wipe beforehand.... If you run into problems you'll just have to Odin back to stock.
