Using the Sennheiser MM30i Headset for HTC One S Android - HTC One S

Just brought the Sennheiser MM30i Headset for my HTC One S,
for those wondering only the centre button works, the + and - buttons are not recognized.
However im using "Headset Button Controller" (there's a couple good headset programming apps this one lets you modify the button clicks, however the Jayy one sent my music player shuffling like crazy).
So basically i can control:
Answer Call/End/Pause/Start Music = 1 click
Reject Call / Next Track = 2 click
Volume up = Hold
Volume down = Click then hold
Music wise as with most Sennheiser earphones, the quality is good, the mic is clear and in a good position on the wire. All in all a good Earphone/Headset for an android device. IF only there was a way to get the other two buttons working it would be perfect.

Been using a pair of "regular" sennheisers plugs for a while, and i'm quite happy with them. but a mic + some form of controls would be nice to have, so these could be interesting.
How is the cable lengths? unequal or equal length for left/right plugs?

equal, both side go from the front, not long enough to drive one of them behind your neck.
I'm so sad mm50ips are off the market.

Milestone2 with apple earphone

I got MA850 in-ear headset for my itouch recently, and tried to connect it my Milestone 2 in the hope of getting better playback. I've heard in other forum that Apple earphone with 3 buttons behaves like the stock one-button headset, but it's not the case with Milestone 2.
The middle button does not work at all. The plus/minus buttons seems to have the same effect, just like long-pressing stock earphone's controller - they activates the player and make it jump to the next track, and they can also end a call. The mic is working.
Try PowerAMP of the Market i've seen it has a "Headset Button Config " i dont have a headset with buttons so i never tested it.
Power Amp can configure headset buttons

[Q] Does Omnia 7 work with Headsets for iPhone

Hallo,
I found the Bowers and Wilkinson P5 headset for iPhone today, which comes with an inline remote control for the iPhone, iPod and iPad. Since I really liked the quality of sound and materials I am now wondering if the headset's remote would work with the Omnia 7. In the shop where I was listening with this headset, they only had the cable without remote (they are exchangable). So I could not test.
So, my questions would be:
In general do iPhone headsets (especially their remote control) work with the omnia 7?
Can I control volume, take calls, skip to the next track by pressing play 2x, skip back to the last song by pressing play 3x, pause/unpause or can I just control parts of this, if yes which?
Has anybody tried the mentioned headset on an omnia 7 or a comparable phone?
Thank you,
Christian
Hello,
I try it in decembr (when i buy my omnia7) and NOT work the remote control.
I remember that one fuction work but not remember wich :-(
I try it this nigh again and i will tell you.
I read few weaks ago that all the windows phone 7 headset are compatible and some brands will release headset for wp7.
You can take calls, skip to the next track by pressing play 2x, skip back to the last song by pressing play 3x, pause / unpause. (Only the center Button is working)
You can NOT control volume.
And the microphone isn't working.
I'm using a iPhone headset but it doesn't have buttons only microphone. The microphone on this works with my omnia 7.
i have Altec Lansing BackBeat 903 and they are working perfectly.
i think that any a2dp device should work!

great info.
I`m loking to buy this beats and your opinion was very important!
If you do still end up getting them (they are seriously good except for the lack of mic functionality with my Omnia 7) don't judge them based on how they sound through an Omnia 7 - they still sound amazing, but for some reason its crapper through the phone than a 6 year old iPod :/
BOSE MIE2i has 3 buttons, VUP, VDOWN, START/PAUSE.
Only START/PAUSE button works, and others not.
i still have sitecom cn-530 headphones bought when I had the htc S710, and they works perfectly, play pause, vol up vol down, skip track..
Beats by Dr Dre don't work either Headphones work fine along with centre button but volume buttons and mic don't work

Earphones plug on htc one xl

Quesition. Does the earphone works with iphone earphones? I got a xperia s and earphones that work with iphones doesnt work on the xperia s. So will switch to one x if earphones work. I have the b&w c5.
I don't have any Apple brand iphone headphones, but I've got a pair of Denons that are designed for iPhone/iPad/iPods. The volume keys do nothing, but the play/pause button works as expected. (Although I had to disable Cybertron Voice Commander, as it was owning the headset controls.)
Once we've got root (or maybe I'll just use my DHD), and I get some spare time, I'm going to see if I can set up a custom mapping so that the volume buttons either function as volume buttons, or like the skip/search buttons on HTC headphones.
My roommate has iPhone headphones, I'll see if he'll let me try them out on the OneX.

I would <3 you forever for something like this. I have a pair of klipsch headphones with the apple volume control that I love, would be awesome to get more functionality out of it.
The weird thing is that my Nexus One came with a headset that has 3 buttons (play/pause, back, skip), but 3 button apple headsets don't work.

This is because the buttons on iPhone headphones are mapped differently than Android headphones. Think of the headphone buttons as a small keyboard. When the play/pause button is pressed, it sends a key signal to the OS. For argument's sake, let's say it sends the letter "A." Both iOS and Android recognize this as the play/pause function, and will work no matter which brand of headphones you use. For Apple's volume up/down, it uses "B" and "C" and the Android skip/search buttons are "D" and "E." Android doesn't expect "B" or "C," so it does nothing when those keys are pressed. If I can find in configs (I pray to god I don't have to compile ICS from source to implement such a small change) then I can hopefully tell Android to respond to "B" and "C." That's oversimplified, but gives you an idea of what I'm going to attempt.
I'm kinda surprised this hasn't been done before, which is maybe a testament to the fact that it's gonna be harder than I hope. If it turns out to be the best-case scenario (just need to alter some config files in the running Android system,) then maybe I'll find time to make an app for customizing headphone buttons.
Depends how it is implemented. I did some work on the HTC HD2 to get headphones working in ICS and I stumbled upon the code for headphone controls. It was basically a message coming in from the I2C bus to the Linux kernel driver responsible for audio. It then sent the proper messages up to the DVM to tell Android which button was pressed.
You will probably need to modify the kernel driver if the headphone use a different message type.
If you want to just remap what the buttons do (i.e they are just mapped incorrectly), then you can use something like:

[Q] Headset with working buttonS?

Hi!
Im looking for a headset with working 3 buttons. I miss this... my old htc headset had that 3 button (next song, prev song and call button, or what does it named) but it isnt working on nexus 4. In-ear and flat cabel would be the best, and about 20-30-40 dollar. Im asked in many forums but noone know this kind of headset.
Not totally sure what you're looking for but I use the Plantronics Backbeat 903 in-ear Bluetooth stereo headset w/ my N4 and I can play, pause, control volume, next/previous song, mute, call, answer, and hangup, ALL from the external buttons on the headset

I use the LG HBS-730. You can find them online in the $40-50 range. Battery life is good, sound quality is great IMO, and you have volume rockers, skip track rockers, mute/call buttons, and a play/pause button.
You can also try Creative WP-350 Bluetooth Headset I'm using it for more than 2 years and it's still working like a charm

[Headphones] - 3 buttons on wire - any compatible?

Just tested those two pairs of wired headphones that have three buttons on pilot
- Samsung Galaxy SIII original headphones B00C1ZPD6S http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-3-5mm-Stereo-Headset-Galaxy/dp/B00C1ZPD6S - not working third button - volume buttons working
- JBL Synchros Reflect A (Android/Universal, wired) http://www.jbl.com/earbuds/REFLECT-A.html - not working third button - volume buttons working
I've tried different soft for media headphone buttons - didn't help. Apparently the SZ5C is not compatible with this kind of headsets.
Those headphones work for Samsung Galaxy SIII, Sony Xperia E4.
I'm using Sennheiser MM 70s, and the button seems to work fine (tested with spotify). They have a volume slider rather than 3 buttons.

I have tested Samsung Galaxy S4 original earphones and I confirm your test, third button start/stop button works as volume up, volume buttons working.
I have tested also Apple EarPods and only the third button is ok, volume buttons not working.
Sennheiser MM 30G: only pause and up volume function as expected.
Sony seems to think the multiple clicking of a single button is the way to go. I'm amazed this hasn't been standardized better in the Android realm.
NOCS 500 for Android: volume works, center button doesn't work at all... no start/stop.
No app seems to help.
cheap Samsung "Galaxy" three button from eBay: volume works, start/stop button works as volume up
Glad I have a 14 day grace period. If I cannot get a three button remote to work on a Sony device, it's going back. It's a shame, I mostly like this device but this whole Android headphone situation is maddening to me as I listen to podcasts all day.
I'm using Marshall Monitor Headphones that have a single inline button. All this does is increase the volume. I've tried a bunch of apps to change it to Pause/Play with no luck. Seems either the z5 needs an update or Marshall really wants you to turn it up to 11.
I too have been on this quest, with a little success. Here's what I have tried so far:
Bundled headset (MH4 10c). Obviously, everything works but there's no volume control and the buds themselves are not great.
iPhone headset. Button works, mic works, volume control doesn't.
Marshall Major over-ear headphones. Button works, mic works, volume control doesn't. (these are advertised as iPhone compatible, so no surprises really).
Samsung headset from GS5 (EO-EG900BW). Volume control works, mic works. Button acts as Volume up.
Nokia music headset (WH-701) from an old Symbian phone. Z5C told me off for even trying (I get a popup "Headset not supported. Use another headset or visit the Sony Mobile support site for more information.").
This guy from eBay, along with my Shure IEM's. Mic works, volume works, button works. Hallelujah! But: the phone doesn't recognise that the headset is plugged in until I press a button on the remote! So I have to plug it in, raise the volume a step, then I can use it. Annoying, but the best solution I've found so far (it's recognised no problem on an iPhone, so maybe it's something to do with their attempt to be compatible with Android & iPhone?)

That's a pity, I was eyeing them. My Marshall Major button works as a play/pause/answer, it's weird your Monitors acts different
Bluetooth Philips SHB 5800WT.
Button works, multiple clicks also, volume buttons also work.
Did anyone test the Xiaomi Pistons (first Gen)?
I previously mentioned the Sennheiser MM30G 's that I tried didn't work but I think there was a problem with them as I tried another pair (had bought three pair on sale) and they work fine with the Z5. I ended up keeping one of my Z5C's and I'm glad that I did as the camera rocks and the stabilised video it shoots is great... much better than the camera on the OnePlus X I picked up instead.
Xiaomi Piston III work just fine.
Sony MH1C works good - all four buttons are working (play/pause, vol+, vol-, app button)
urBeats Monster (from HTC Sensation) - working fine (Volume Up/Down, Play/Pause, Next/Prev (2x- 3x-push play/pause button)
I used the Bose basic phone in-ear buds with the buttons with my Z3c and they worked just fine. Will report back once I get my Z5c... hopefully today.
I'm using Marshall Major II headphones with my Sony Xperia5 and same problem as someone mentioned above. Remote button only levels up the volume..
Have a look at http://degausslabs.com/. The make earphones with 3 button controls that work on Android. Used to have one of their older models. Works well. Sound was ok.
Basically I'd only need a cable. 3.5mm aux-cable with mic/remote. I love my Marshall Majors let's see, I ordered Sony headphone-adapter and couple of cables @eBay. I will inform if if I got em work.

Sony STH30 works great. give them a go.
Tested SENNHEISER CX 200G, 3 button controls are ok
