So, I did a search of the forum and I couldn't find anyone talking about this specifically, I apologize if something for this exists already and if so please point me in that direction.
The Dark Meadow is a Tegra 3 game, I'm sure many of you have heard of it. I hear it's a great game, but I wouldn't know because I'm having a problem. Now I've only done a little bit of research on this, and it seems to be a problem across both ASUS Prime and TF300, but I'm not sure what it is.
What happens is when I launch the game, regardless of what power mode it's in, it goes through all the launch videos "Nvidia, Unreal, etc" and gets to the main menu. I can start a game, and it launches. The sound works fine, but the screen is white and then begins to flicker. I have no idea what is causing this, or why this would happen and I've not noticed any problems with any other games.
I've tried clearing the cache/data, I've tried completely removing it and redownloading it. I'm not sure what else to try, or if I'm stuck just waiting on a fix from ASUS, Nvidia, or whoever made Dark Meadows. Ideas, Thoughts, Comments?
a fresh reboot or soft reset should clear this up. Asus is working on the gaming issue. mines did the exact same thing. after a reboot or 2, it went away and game been working fine ever since.
I don't know how I didn't think to try that before, but wow it worked.
For the record, I had the same issue. Reboot + switching power mode fixed it after two tries.
Great looking game by the way.
This is not an Asus specific issue. I had the exact same issue on the Acer A510, one reboot cleared it up. That is 3/4 Tegra 3 devices. I wonder if the HTC One X is experiencing the same.
I had also the white screen problem with dark meadows. But since i updated through wifi to the newes official Version .26, Dard Meadows is running well
Very cool and fast graphics

Not totally sure how to describe this, but my Optimus 3D seems to be registering a single tap on the on-screen keyboard as multiple presses, usually 2-3. Has anyone else experienced this issue? Is it more of an android issue rather than with the phone? Or could it possibly be resolved through the installation of an alternative keyboard from the market?
The issue seems to occur both when charging and when running on battery power, and occurs in all applications I've tried it in so far. (Browser, Market, YouTube, Messaging)
I'm just concerned there could be an issue with the screen, so I'd like to try and get it sorted sooner rather than later, since once you go past a week or two getting a faulty phone handset sorted becomes a nightmare with retailers.

The screen of the phone is very very sensitive. What happens is that you touch the letter and then before you have the time to remove it the phone registers a continuing press. This happens because even if you dont tap with the same presure, the phone still picks up a presure and registers more taps. It isn't really something you should worry about.
Ahhh I see. Is there a way to reduce the sensitivity at all? It's a rather annoying bug and makes it next to impossible to type anything longer than just a few words using the on-screen keyboard.

I would recommend you to compare your phone with another O3D if you can. If some other O3D's work nice for you, then probably it is a harware defect.
I have never experienced such a problem on mine.
Hm, I don't know anybody else with one, however the store I bought it from did have a demonstration unit so I can pop in and try out theirs to see if it also has the same issue. If not at least I can demonstrate the problem to them.

Sounds like a plan to me
I had the same problem as the OP.
It was not from the beginning and started totally unexpected and there was a very noticeable difference before/after. Typing became almost impossible, had to do it veeery carefully.
However, a simple reboot solved my problem. Didn't happen to me again since...
Hi, totally new to Android after being with Apple a long time but loving my O3D except battery life but i'll live with that.
Does have a few niggles but it makes my iphone look sooo out dated!
Right, i have similar issue with letters duplicating but it only happens every now and then and is cured by restarting the phone.
Looks like a software glitch because typing on this phone is as good as when i use my iphone. I'm more than happy with the sensitivity.
I never thought of restarting the phone, but I've done it now and it seems to have fixed the problem. Now I just need to get used to the bigger screen then my crappy old iphone.
I love the screen size in general, though I downloaded a pinball game that only works in portrait which is not really playable because the phone is too heavy to hold only with the bottom.
Its certainly a lot easier to type than I expected coming from the N900. I really REALLY wanted something like the Optimus 3D but with a real keyboard, but sadly I can't see it happening. This "thinner is better" fad really winds me up, I prefer function over form any day of the week.
Speaking of typing, I certainly have had the key repeat problem - I thought it was a build up of grease on the touch screen confusing it. It was quite annoying as my first impression was that typing on this thing is almost as good as a hardware keyboard, then the key repeat issue surfaced. Lets see if firmware 10d fixes it.
update to HTC_IME and u wont have such problem anymore. I had same issue with standart LG keyboard
I'm having the same problem with my keyboard.
It started recently and it's very annoying to try to write a txt with a such sensitive response from the keyboard.
Restating the phone seems to have sorted the problem but, it's weird...
i had this same problem after using the phone perfectly for 2 weeks it suddenly started this annoying habit,i took it back to the carphone warehouse and they exchanged it,so far the replacement is fine.
Hi,
This might be the stupiest Tread I have ever started but.....
I was gonna try drag toilet paper game on my GN but the screen seems to stop "responding with very fast touch/swipe.
Has anyone experienced similar issue in other games?
I had such a feeling months ago in similar situations. In my case it was me loosing contact just a very short amount of time while scrolling very fast and voila: stop .
When I tried it out while ensuring not to loose contact I never ever could reproduce any lags .

I have the same problem, i tried the same thing with a Htc one X and the one X dont got that problem,
i have even noticed the touch can stop responding when im playing Wordfued on my Note, if i drag the letter to quick,
do i got a faulty Samsung Note, or can more people with a Note try and drag something quick over the screen, (wana know if i should try and get it fixed in the warranty)
True, especially when you are superloaded with some shell or graphic mod application like Go Launcher. Trust me friend, you find all happy happy guys in the comment section of play store.. when it comes to using in our own phone things go blarred with hugesome usage of RAM. so try clearing it up by uninstalling high RAM consuming mod apps.
the only rom that i have found that does not have this lag is alba.. however its not a feature rich rom.
Again, posting here since I don't seem to see anyone complaining about this, and I'm thinking if it's time to send my tablet to repair.
Whenever I play Gyro based games like Riptide GP or Busted (under-appreciated game btw, I recommend everyone to try this game, it's free! )...
I notice that my jetski or my ship bears left slightly.
So I downloaded Smart Tools, used the protractor, and confirmed that whenever I place my tab on a flat surface, I get a 5 degree offset to the left side. And that's what causing all my racing games to veer left.
I tried the in-app calibration option, but it only fixes it for that app. Once back to Riptide or Busted, my racers veer again.
(Edit: you may download the protractor only for free.)
Has anyone experienced this? or does anyone know of a fix?
"Bubble level" from Antoine something... Its available in the Market and is full-free.
This might be of use to you, as it has a sensor reset in its calibration settings.
I dont know if the in-app calibrator is device-specific or only in that particular
app, but I just tried its Reset feature, and it indeed does reset it. Give it a run
and let us know

Thanks for the suggestion omnius. Now, I didn't see a "reset" option, but I did see "calibrate". I tried to calibrate both orientation and accelerometer sensors, and they were fixed in the app, but when I go to Riptide GP, the 5 degree shift still seems to be there.
Do those G-sensor based games work fine on your A510?
When Im in the calibration settings, Ive got 3 options, Calibrate, Reset Sensor, Cancel
I cant see why reset aint available in your setup.. Hmm, I really dunno :-!
Have you had a check with other device info apps, just to confirm all sensors is reacting and available?.. Just an idea
Sent from my A510 using xda app-developers app
Again, thanks for the reply. Yes, I tried Smart Tools initially, and all sensors seem to be working. There's just that 5 degree shift in the protractor that's affecting my games.
And, that is very strange that you have a reset option and I don't... We're using this Bubble level app right?
That is indeed the same Im using.
You dont have that Reset button, as per this shot from my A510.?
Sent from my A510 using xda app-developers app
Thanks for attaching the thumbnail, I was looking for a reset button once I press the menu button on the upper right corner (feel free to laugh at my stupidity. lol.)
So I did try the reset button, unfortunately, it only resets the calibration in-app. Once I rest my device on a flat surface, I can again see the offset (because the calibration is gone), and when I try Riptide, I have a slight bearing to the right again.
So just to verify, when you press reset on your tab, does the green dot center up by itself? Or do you need to recalibrate it?
(My expected scenario is there should be no need to recalibrate. But if you also do, then I guess, I don't need to contact Acer support for this.)
I havent had that slide to a side that you do, yet, but would as a fellow racer be severely pissed if it happened.. :screwy:
But yes, it ligns up to center, as far as my kitchentable is straight, upon applying the Reset.
But not having that drift myself, I hardly know what else to advice you to try.
You might be able to digg up a hidden system intent, either Iconia or ICS specific, to fire up a real device sensor reset, thou so far I havent found any yet. But I'll let you know if I do

I'll prolly take time to contact Acer support one of these days too. Thanks again for helping me out!

Update:
So I sent my tablet to local Acer Support last weekend, and after three days, they told me that my Gyro miscalibration issue is a mainboard issue. They're replacing the mainboard this afternoon since they just received the part today.
I'm half happy/sad that I did get a lemon tablet. But hey, hopefully, this ends well.
Update again:
After following up on the status of my tablet, it seems that replacing the motherboard did not resolve my issue. My ticket has been escalated and I am now being offered a new unit instead. I was asked to contact my retailer and provide my ticket number, since they've coordinated both with my retailer and my distributor already.
Will update this thread until I get a fully working tab.
To anyone reading this, wish me luck.
Just a quick update.
Got my new tablet from Acer service yesterday and my gyroscope is now perfectly levelled.
when i play high-quality games, sometimes the game will stuck and the screen flickered constantly. you can turn back to home screen, but the game need to be stopped.
i tried to update, or change change ROM version. now it's better, but the issue is still exist.

Thing is, ever since I got the tablet, I only tried Riptide and Busted (just to confirm my Gyro is ok, and it is. )
What game do you get those flickers?

deadtrigger: 1 times
asphalt 6: 2-3 times
shadowgun: about 2 times
riptide: 1 times
when the flicker was occurred, reboot is a good choice, if not, when you restart the game the problem would possibly show up again

Since I see that you have the most problems with Asphalt 6 and Shadowgun, I'll install those over the weekend and report back.
I was able to try a few minutes of Shadowgun, Asphalt 6 and 7 over the weekend.
And the only time I get that screen flashing behavior is when I have a window on top of the game (i.e. Facebook login.) Other than that though, the game seems to be handling normally.
I did notice screen tearing in the background for Asphalt 6 and 7.
Also, I notice some gyroscope misbehavior at certain times in Asphalt 7's game. Which is what some commenters in the market also mention, so I'm not too worried with it. I might play Asphalt 6 more then.

Hope acer will fix all bugs and make it perfect!

yep, i installed the CWM ( version 5.8.4 ) a few days ago, i used the wipe data/ factory reset, then it killed my tab:angel:
finally i know this CWM was under testing, i didn't read the title and instruction carefully. :crying:
so it's not recommended to do sth may harmful to the tab until u know what u r doing
Anyone else have an issue with a few games where when they load they flash like crazy and are unplayable. Games like Dark meadows, Legendary Heroes, and others. Looks like a driver issue. Anyone know a fix?
Thanks.
i had the same problem with riptide, it flashed like crazy. guess i was lucky it happened within 15 minutes so i returned it immediately other than that, i don't know of any solution and within 15min i couldn't try much..
Screen flickering? It's a known bug. Try rebooting the device and things should work for a while.
Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF700T
It is reputed to be caused by a RAM fill-up by the Tegra3 driverset, and indeed *sometimes* a reboot 'fixes' the issue temporarily. JB seems to have better drivers and memory management, so the upcoming update should at least provide relief to a certain (more permanent) extent.
My mother in law has a TF300 that has been really glitchy, so much so that it was basically unusable (the 4.2 update seems to have made it better, but still not perfect).
Her biggest issue has been sporadic touchscreen non-responsiveness. She thinks that this might be worse when connected to the internet (some app working in the background/updating?). Today she also had it where she couldn't use the screen while connected to the keyboard, but when she disconnected the keyboard it started working again, but that may have been a fluke.
In addition, there are times when it will act as if you've pressed an on screen button, even though your hand was nowhere near said button (almost like a ghosting effect on a keyboard, when the computer is running slow)
I've got the tablet with me for a few hours and I'd like to help her get it to the point where it's working normal again. Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated.
Almost as soon as I mentioned the on screen buttons, it started acting up.
Sent from my YP-G70 using xda app-developers app
Did it just start or has it been doing it since day 1? Go to settings, then Backup & Reset under Language & Input and do a Factory data reset.
That's the fist step in finding the problem. Bad side she will loose all saved data so save it to a pc.
4.2.1 update rolling out
hmm is that a galaxy player 5.0
I can't remember how long it's been giving her issues, but it has been a while. Multiple factory resets haven't fixed it. In the time I've been tinkering with it I've disabled some of the bloatware and turned off Auto Updates from the Play Store, so we'll see if those help in any way.
I've also noticed that the notification bar keeps getting stuck (either up or down). It looks like rotating it helps fix that, but still that's less than ideal...
Ah, the joys of being tech support :silly:
I've got it hooked up to my laptop in an attempt to use LogCat to help debug, but I'm not sure if I'm seeing anything consistent enough to label it as the cause of her troubles. Still, a resource available if anyone knows what I should be looking for there.

Yes, yes it is
If it's under warranty then send it back. Hopefully she hasn't had it over a year.
If it were mine it would've already been in the mail. Since its not unlocked and factory reset aren't working there's not much else that can be done without voiding the warranty.

is there a screen protector on it?
My TF300 always the same thing whenever there was background IO, even with Android 4.1.
Turning off the useless syncing and auto Play Store updates do help.
Also check to see if the storage has been filled. IO performance is also decreased by having a relatively filled flash.
So having disabled the Auto Updates from Google Play seems to have made a world of difference. I'm surprised background IO took so much out of the tablet, since it's running on a quad core, but oh well. Thanks for the suggestions everyone!
