Hi there,
I have a question for rooting my galaxy s2. I wanted to ask it in here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=14283397&postcount=4, but because I am new I can't post heh. Noob
Well here is my thing. My phone information is:
Version: 2.3.3
Baseband: I9100MUGKG2
Kernal: 2.6.35.7-I9100MUGKG2- CL371789
Build number: GINGERBREAD.UGKG2
I think I have to use
CF-Root-SGS2_JP_XSG_KG2-v4.1-CWM4.zip
or
CF-Root-SGS2_JP_OZS_KG2-v4.1-CWM4.zip
If not, which one should I use?
Can someone please confirm me this, I don't want to screw this.
Thanks a lot.

I did, but i didnt find someone with the same exact kernal saying which to download.
You can always install a newer ROM (based on KG5/KG6 or KH3).
Most of the cooked ROMs already have a rooted kernel.
I´ve been using gingerbread rom´s for a long time, but in the last days, when i flashed acura´s 3d max rom and then prometheus rom and kernel, when i try to connect to my network the phone gives me a message that i have inserted wrong pin and i have 3 more tries, the pin his right and this happens 2 or 3 times then it gets the network but it only works for a few minutes, and then it gives me "reorganizing internal processes..." message.
I´ve been reading about basebands and kernel's and stuff, but i still the same.
So i have one first question, i have on my phone information this baseband version: L6260_MODEM_SIC_01.1042.00
Is this the right version? Gingerbread baseband?
Thank you
I had the same problem after flashing Prometheus kernel I had to reflash my kdz to fix it

You know what RTFM means? Here is used RTFF...cause you have it all here. Anyway a hint: use Lg updater, go to customer assistance, emergency and recovery mode, put your IMEI and you should be good to go with the latest baseband.

RTFM means Read The F**king Manual ans RTFF means Read The F**king Forum ...cause it's already here, on forum, the answer you are searching. Use the search button, make an educated search...

But just as you click in the Optimus 3D general section you'll see 3 sticky threads: Firmware update, [TUTORIAL] Flash BIN rom, Unbrick, Update - Optimus 3d (Service Flash software) and [GUIDE] Manbearpig's guide to a smooth ride with your O3D. From all three I'm sure that you can pull out some infos. In the end... got your problem solved?

...The baseband version I see it on the last line of the "About phone" option from Settings menu. But there are some issues with some ROMs, for example I've used the Meemo Xplay ROM that, for some reason gave no info about IMEI and software version (baseband).
I restore stock ROM using suggested tutorial and now in about phone have:
Baseband version L6260_MODEM_SIC_01.1042.00
Kernel version 2.6.35.7+
Build number GRJ90
Software version LGP920-V21e-Apr-19-2012
Before this I have Promethius 1.5 together with battery draining and dont know if this is OK after flashing stock ROM? Can I install Promethius 1.5+ now with new kernel?
I have a Samsung Galaxy S Showcase on Straight Talk, I've been trying to find a thread on how to get it rooted but haven't had any luck so far. It's running
Hardware Version: S950C.01
Firmware Version: 2.3.6
if anyone could lead me in the right direction or has the information on hand I would be very grateful with assistance, and so would everyone else with the same phone. It is a sub-par phone stock, and I would like it to run a bit better.
Thank you in advance XDA!

I successfully rooted a Samsung Galaxy S Showcase on Straight Talk using the method in this link, but be warned there is no support and no custom roms that can be flashed to this phone. It works great if you just want to root it, but if you are wanting to root so that you can install a custom rom, then I wouldn't waste my time.
I cannot post outside links unfortunately, but google search "rooting samsung galaxy showcase" and there is a guide on rootzwiki
ive had issues with my mic on samsung galaxy tab 2 7.0 after installing cm 10.1 nightly. the person im calling cant hear me using the mic of the headphone. Someone found a solution but did not elaborate enough on the steps. im new to android. maybe you guys could help me. heres what she said----- "I've fixed the problem with flashing the baseband\modem from the latest firmware matching exactly to my device and region from sammobile.com.
You can flash the complete stock firmware image via odin and than reflash your favorit custom rom via cwm,, or you just extract the modem out of the firmware and only flash this by keeping your actual rom." ----
i dont get what she means, maybe someone could help. here's the link to the solution. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=40218465#post40218465
PLEASE HELP. thank you.
this has been the closest for me in solving this issue. i hope someone can help. any tutorial and download links will be helpful, i dont know what to look for in google since i dont know what i should be doing. thank you.
help
Dude, i'll try to help but i'm having my tea right now so bear with me!
1. don't bump your own thread - XDA rules states you can't bump a thread for 24 hours! Learn the rules!
2. Go to 'about tab' take a screen shot and upload it here so i can see what version of the tab, modem, build you're using etc,
3. you ever thought of reverting back to stock ? 4.2.x Roms are no where near stable enough (in my opinion) for daily drivers!
i cant find a tutorial online on how to go back to 4.1.x from 4.2.x. my stock rom was 4.0.4 and i dont like the UI of ICS. its very lousy. there arent that many tutorials about android. and most of the tutorial arent step by step.
