OK, here's my update. Sorry for being a few days late. The "iPho" fell asleep om me. No just kidding BigJoe.
Reflashed with Odin 1.3 to root GB 2.3.6 with CWM,.
Reflashed Darky ROM... Same issue...
Reflashed Odin... This time, I have Darky APP...
Configed... Flashed... Screen freeze on dead Battery with unlit cartwheel...
Reflashed Odin... (Where I am now.)
Root 2.3.6 Gingerbread with partial DarkyROM flash... Everything seems to work Except Bluetooth. WiFi works... PDANet/FoxWi works...
Even Loaded Darky ROM Boot Animation.... I know I'm missing a lot of neat "Stufff" but just don't have the expertise knowledge to figure it out yet.
BUT.... I SHALL NOT FAIL!
I would use the gtg unbrick method to wipe the slate completely clean then start over best method imho

I am running docs v7. Comes with glitterballs oc kernel 1200 ghz. It is a 2.2.1 rom, has voodoo lag fix. Guys:
Don't follow any instruction to flash this kernel on your captivate running official froyo I897UCKB1. I tried all advices and ended up bricking my phone. Luckily the unbricking method you can find.in xda saved me. But, i had to flash.back to JF6 (2.1 eclair stock) using odin3 and then went back to kies mini to get the official froyo. I am writing this for people who like to use stock froyo instead of any.custom roms. I had to waste my time because.some.people suggested a few methods without knowing it for sure. Most suggestions are great in this forum (thats how i used serendipity.for a while). But, some or one of the bad suggestions can brick your phone real bad. Then xda should remove the link for "how to unbrick" link. Brick is of two types. Soft and hard. What you mean is hard. What I meant b was soft. But, even soft.can cause serious issues. Post a video if you can. That will help a lot.

You can. Flow this intruction:
- Copy 2.3.5 rom to SDCard
- Go to download mode
- Open Odin 3, Plug you phone to PC (Com go to yellow)
- Feed boog kernel (Search in Captivate development thread) in PDA slot
- Start
- Go CWM --> factory reset data --> install zip file

Ok. You have a slow pc..maybe your internet connection is timing out before download complete. I've actually gotten that message using xda app. "Sorry operation has timed out"
Do you have multiple windows connected while downloading? Possibly slowing your computer down.

So I had GB bootloaders and 2.3.4 installed on it. I was browsing through the forum and really liked Raver's Redux rom, but totally blacked out i have to change bootloaders back to Froyo ( still no idea how to ). So my phone got into a bootloop. The problem is, i tried to flash the phone back to GB rom, and was doing it using ODIN, and brother plucked the usb cable off during the flashing process. Now everytime i try to turn it on, it has a yellow triangle that says" Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. PLease select recovery mode in KIes and try again. " Tried Kies, no use. The same screen appears when i try to get into a download mode, tried usb jig . same screen. WHat should i do from here? i am out of ideas.
OK, i flashed Stock GB rom with Odin, even the dwld mode didn't appear on phone screen, but ODIN read it and i got a connection in with it. Now its on a bootloop again. It goes into the recovery menu (3e). Says E:Failed to mount /data (INvalid Argument). What should i do from here??? THanks
NVM , I got it working now But i still want that Redux rom My question is : how do i get back to Froyo Bootloaders? A specific instruction would be really helpful, what to tick and not on ODIN , etc... Thanks
Flash kd1 or Odin ravers kc1 with all 4 files. You'll have the froyo bootloaders. There at guides out there if you search. I'm in my phone, so I can't link then. Sorry.if you have trouble, let me know and I'll walk you through it

soc is short for superoneclick (or system on a chip or many other things but i was talking about superone click) anyway you need the newwest version of super one click to root android 2.3.3 and up. i believe it is version 2.2
i havent tried it but i hear it takes a while. you could also bypass that and flash a kernel with root through heimdall. it's a bit like odin but doesnt flsh .tar archives. it flashes the raw images (zimage for the kernel) so you have to extract the zimage out of a .zip file. you could also make your own odin package but that means you shoud be doing it in a terminal window(look up cygwin, or install linux or borrow a mac). though archive managers like win rar and 7zip can work i have had issues doing it in windows (as well as success but dont want to risk it)

I did the first step and sure enough it returned the phone to stock. I've been using Serendipity VII and thought I'd try this return to stock to see if my HDMI would work. It sure has the touch and feel of stock firmware, yet shows it's Android version 2.3.6 I mean it's got all the ATT bloatware, Samsung apps, the works. I go into settings and can't find TV out in the Display settings like Serendipity (could find the button but it didn't work) now that I'm "stock" I can't find the button! LOL
Where I am at this point is reading the stuff about getting root again as I have no superuser icon anymore.
Not sure if I should proceed to step two, looks to be fairly recent material...
Download Defuse 1.5"
Ok I did that but am reluctant to proceed after all the reading I did. I have a usuable handset still but the battery life sucks compared to S7 and still don't have HDMI, anyone have experience on what happens if you do the second step? It says you can get CWM and flash (I'm ready to flash back to Serendipity) but I don't see where it gives you root and I'm chicken to click it thru and try, been reading...

I got super 1 click to get root on this new 2.3.6 rom. And the att bloatware isnt an issue it seems and battery life is as good as s7. Going to make it my daily runner as browsing is faster for some reason.

Mine did the same thing using "auto" for exploits.
I then tried "psneuter". It warned me that it might not work on my FW version, then worked!
So what is supposed to work doesn't, and what is not supposed to work does, go figure.

How long did the process take? I tried it with psneuter and and it was not responding for about ten minutes so I just stopped it.

It should only take less than a minute.
